Chapter 6

** a/n: Unfortunately, I may not get to post any updates next week. My husband is on vacation. It's practically impossible to get any writing done when he's at home. If I get any time to write, I will just wait to the next week to update.

*********

Security Guard Steve Austin had been suspended a month with no pay. If Tim had provoked him in any way, there probably would have been no punishment. But after a thorough investigation and speaking with the only witness, Dwayne Johnson, it was declared that Tim, in no way, provoked the guard.

Dr. Olusola kept Tim in the infirmary a few extra days until his breathing became easier. Upon releasing him, the doctor warned him to take it easy and to not do anything that could reinjure his ribs.

Ending back up in the infirmary was the last thing Tim wanted. He had one month to get completely healed. He didn't need any setbacks.

As Chance was leading Tim back to his cell, the prisoners of Cell Block B began to applaud the bruised up prisoner. Many prisoners had suffered at the hands of Steve Austin. But none had been able to walk out of the infirmary three days later. Just one more reason to declare Foust as one tough son of a b*tch.

Adam stands at their cell door, waiting anxiously for his husband's return. A huge smile growing on his face as he sees Tim and Chance making their way through the cheering prisoners.

"Well? What are you waiting for?" Avi chuckles. "Go get your man."

"TIM!" Adam calls out as he begins to run toward his lover.

The blonde throws his arms around Tim's neck, kissing him passionately. Earning whistles and even more cheers from their fellow prisoners.

"God, I've missed you." Adam whispers as he hugs his husband tightly.

"Careful with his ribs, Adam." Chance warns.

"No, I'm fine." Tim tells the guard as his husband holds him close. "I've missed you too, Beautiful." He whispers next to Adam's ear. He couldn't wait to get the d*mn shackles off so he could hold his angel in his arms.

"Welcome home." Avi smiles as they near the cell.

"Thanks. It's good to be back." Tim smiles as Chance unlocks his shackles.

"Remember what the doctor said." Chance says as he removes the restraints.

"I know. Rest and watch out for the ribs." Tim nods as he takes Adam by the hand and walks into their cell.

"I'll make sure he does." Adam says over his shoulder.

"There's no doubt in my mind." Chance chuckles before giving Avi a quick kiss before returning to his duties.

"You know, visitation is the day after tomorrow. Your mom is going to go berserk when she sees all the bruises on your face." Adam says as they cuddle on the cot.

"I'm not going. I don't want her seeing me like this." Tim says as he plays with his lover's fingers.

"It would only make her worry about you more." Adam nods in agreement. "I can get Chance's phone and call her and tell her that you won't be there."

"I really hate to lie to her but we need to come up with a good reason. Something besides getting beat by a guard." Tim chuckles softly.

"Yeah, that's true." Adam says. "I mean, Emily knows what went down in the yard but do you think she would tell your mom?"

"No, I don't think so." Tim says with a yawn.

"I guess I need to call her first to make sure." Adam says.

"Mom knows that I have back problems at times. Maybe that can be the reason." Tim says as he stares up at the ceiling.

"What about you pulled a muscle in your back and the doctor wants you to stay in bed for a few days?" Adam suggests.

"That sounds good." Tim nods. "But make sure you talk to Emily first to make sure Mom doesn't know about the fight."

"I will." Adam nods.

They lay in silence for a few minutes. Adam raises up to say something to Tim but sees that he had dozed off to sleep.

"You rest, Sweetheart." The blonde whispers as he leans down and places a kiss on his husband's cheek. "I've got business to take care of."

Adam climbs off the cot, being very careful not to wake his sleeping lover.  He leaves the cell in search of Chance.

He searched everywhere that he was allowed to walk around freely. The yard, the cafeteria, even the showers, thinking that he may be there making his rounds but Toby told him that he hasn't been there.

There was one more place to look. Chance's office. Technically, prisoners were not allowed in that area without wearing shackles.

He quietly slips down the hallways, peeking around each corner to make sure the coast was clear. Getting caught by the wrong person would probably earn him time in solitaire.

Tiptoeing up to the office door, he listens for any sounds that indicate that the guard was not alone. Not hearing any voices, he softly taps on the door.

"Come in." Chance calls out from inside.

Checking the hallway one last time, Adam opens the door and quickly steps inside, closing the door behind him.

"Uh... you know you're not supposed to be in this area without being shackled, right?" Chance asks with a raised brow.

"What do you think I'm going to do? Take you hostage and break out of here with my husband asleep in the cell?" Adam chuckles.

"Seriously though, Adam. You could have got in a lot of trouble if you had gotten caught." Chance shakes his head as he goes back to his paperwork.

"I know but I need to use your phone. I need to call Tim's sister and his mom." Adam says as he sits down at the desk.

"Something wrong?" Chance asks, glancing up from his work.

"Tim just wants them to know that he won't be at the next visitation. He doesn't want his mom to see the bruises. It would only make her worry more about him." Adam answers.

"That's understandable." Chance says as he hands Adam his cell phone.

"Do I need to go to the yard?" Adam asks.

"No, you can make the call here. It'll be safer." Chance says, turning back to his work.

Chance's phone was their link to their families. Dena, Emily and Chris's numbers were already in the contacts.

(Phone call)

E: Hello?
A: Hey, Emily. It's Adam.
E: Adam? Is something wrong? Is Timmy okay?
A: Well, first, I need to know if you said anything to Dena about what happened at the last visitation.
E: Are you kidding? And have her freaking out? Absolutely not.
A: Okay, good. Tim was beaten up pretty bad by one of the guards.
E: OH, MY GOD!!!
A: He's okay, just pretty bruised up. He doesn't want his mom to see him with the bruises.
E: I don't blame him.
A: So he won't be at the visitation. I'm fixing to call her and tell her that he pulled a muscle in his back and that the doctor wants him to stay in bed for a few days. I know it's lying but it's better than telling her the truth and have her worrying herself sick.
E: That's true.
A: So that's the plan.
E: Got it. Please give my big brother a hug for me and tell him I love him and for him to TRY a little harder to stay out of trouble.
A: Will do. Talk to you later.

Adam glances up at Chance to see that the bearded man was staring at him.

"What?" Adam asks innocently as he begins to scroll through the contacts for Dena's number.

Chance rolls his eyes and chuckles as he shakes his head.

A few seconds later, Adam was on the phone with Dena trying to calm her down. Reassuring her that the reason for his call was not to tell her that Tim was on his death bed.

But he learned that she was just about to call Chance and to send a message to Tim that she was not going to be able to make it to visitation. Severe storms were forecast to be rolling through that day with hail and a possibility of tornadoes and flooding.

He agreed that it would not be a good idea for her and Emily to be on the road during the storms and for her to stay safe.

"Done." Adam says after ending the call and handing the phone back to Chance.

"See. If you had just waited a few minutes, you wouldn't have had to go through all that trouble of making up a lie." Chance smirks as he leans back in his chair. He couldn't help but overhear the conversation.

"Didn't want to take any chances." Adam shrugs and stands up. "Catch ya later."

"Hold up there, Hotrod." Chance says as he holds up some shackles that he keeps in his office. "You were lucky not to get caught coming here. You might not be so lucky leaving."
