The night was spent in the most awkward way, Alex was so angry at mom and Shirley wouldn't stop crying, she had to spend the entire night in my room because the fragile girl couldn't understand anything happening. She just can't believe we're going to be left alone after dad had abandoned us two years ago.

I woke up the next morning, it was saturday and also the day, my mom was leaving the house.

I went down to the kitchen to see if mom was up already but I was greeted by a letter on the table.

Dear Priscilla,

By the time you are reading this letter, I should be on a flight to Europe with Jason, I'd try my best to send you kids enough cash to sustain you, I had no other choice but to leave since you kids made me choose. The house rents has been fully paid for a very long period of time so there's virtually nothing to worry about, the house is stocked with varieties of food and before you finish the supplies, I would have settled in and it would be more easier to send some cash, please my dear, you must not leave the house stay there till I return......

I don't understand mom, she leaves her children for a man and tells me she has a reason for everything.

I prepared breakfast and watched Lion King till Shirley and Alex woke up.

"Shirley I made breakfast." I hugged her and put her on my legs still watching my favorite movie of all time.

"Mom already left right?." She asked with gloomy eyes.

"Yes she did but she must have her reasons, just remember Mom always loves you." I tried to console her playing with her hair.

"If she did, she wouldn't leave." She cries putting her face on my shoulders.

Poor baby.

"Don't cry baby! Go and eat already." I pressured. 

"What's for breakfast." Alex, the hungry whales walks in yawning  facing me and Shirley.

"Bread, bacons and hash browns." Shirley chuckles causing Alex to grin.

"So we have to live alone in this big house?" He asked turning towards me to look for a more sensible answer.

"Well, Yes." I answered and turned off the TV.

Bye, bye, Lion King.

"You should eat up because we have to have a proper talk amongst ourselves." I told my two new children.

"Ok." They cheered in unison and continued munching on the food.

"I don't know what went south with mom but I need to let you know that are going to be new rules around here ". I state and Shirley urges me to go on with a smile and Alex with a frown..

"I'm the new mom now and I would need your maximum cooperation". I continued.

"Do you plan on selling the house or mom's car?" Alex questions.

"Well no, mom still plans on taking responsibility for us but without living with us". I  answered.

"if she left us, she should leave permanently and not have anything completely to do with us." Alex argues.

"We would just have to obey her and stay here for the meantime, maybe when I graduate, we would move elsewhere and stop collecting money from mom trust fund and maybe start fending for ourselves." I added further with a slightly slurred speech.

"That sounds more better to hear because I don't want to have anything to do with mom." Alex barks.

"He is just so stubborn ." I tell Shirley and she smiles.
