🌸Present day.

"Priscilla! Priscilla! Priscilla!" Katie, my boss daughter screeched bringing me back to reality and out of all my miserable thoughts of when my life was still at it's worst.

"And how's my precious princess Katie doing today?" I asked her standing up from the swivel chair to carry her away from my office door.

"I didn't tell daddy I was coming down to your office." She whispered and I frowned at her naughtiness.

"Why? Do you want to give daddy a hard time looking for you?" I asked her and dropped her gently on my work desk.

"I just wanted to see your pretty face Pris." She giggled and I tickled her.

"My princess wanted to see my ugly face because I know I am so nothing close to been pretty." I blushed .

"I have to go and do my usual routine checks on my patients but you are free to stay in my office it wouldn't take long before I come back." I tell her and carried her to my swivel chair so she could be comfortable.

"I would just do some of my homeworks and wait for you, don't stay too long." She commanded and pulled out a book from her school bag.

"Yes mummy." I tell her and quickly left my office.

My routine rounds to check on my patients didn't take me so much time because almost all of them were responding to treatment fast. I decided to get snacks from the cafeteria so I could eat with Katie when I get back to my office.

"All the surgeons should go to the operating room we have an emergency." Dr Williams, Katie's father said through the loudspeaker.

And all the hospital surgeons including me started walking to the operating room but I ran into someone I don't ever want to see me in my life again "Ian", He was a full grown handsome man, he looked the same except for maturity taking it's course on him, he was pacing back and forth in the hospital almost like he was about to lose something. I walked away not wanting him to see me but I didn't really get far because the fool recognized me, it has been almost ten years since I last saw him and seeing him again sent a cold shrill down my spine.

"Hey!" Ian touched me from behind.

"I have an emergency so I don't have time for any conversation with anyone." I said removing his hands from my shoulders, the pig was so bold enough to touch me.

"You work here?" Ian asked.

"Yes as a surgeon, I have a life to save now so can I leave now Mr." I replied him moving away from him so as not to have further conversation with him.

"My daughter is in there please save her life." He shouts.

"What makes him think he has the right to make demands." I say to myself.

"Priscilla you are the lead surgeon on this case, please do your best to save her life, I want you working on this case so I dismissed some other surgeons to carry on with some other hospital work." Dr Williams Katie's father said.

"I would do my best." I answered him.

"Name of patients : Miss Anna Bridge." A nurse in the operating room introduced.

I knew within myself that the child was Ian's daughter.

"She was shot on her stomach by a stray bullet and she has lost so much blood." The nurse continues whilst other surgeons get ready to operate.

"Let her die." My subconscious says.
