[Christmas Special: Part 2]
Virgil picked nervously at the sides of his fingernails to the point of his index finger slightly bleeding. He hissed in a little bit of pain before sticking his finger in his mouth to stop the bleeding.
"Sucking your thumb should be habit you get out of earlier."
Virgil looked up to see Tom and slowly withdrew his finger with a roll of his eyes, "It's bleeding, I'm sure you'd do the same, Tom."
Tom shrugged, about to say something before Roman approached, "Uh- Yeah, probably true."
"Do you need another bandage?" Roman frowned, about to grab Virgil's hand.
Virgil quickly drew his hand away and folded his arms over his shoulders, "I'm fine." He sighed dryly.
Roman frowned for a moment before nodding, "Yeah, ...Okay." He nodded.
It had been twenty-minutes and Patton wasn't back yet, Virgil was pretty sure he had bailed, in fact, he was entirely sure.
"Are we done here then? Can we go home?" Virgil began to get up.
"Yeah, sure." Roman nodded.
"Alright." Virgil started walking towards the door ahead of Roman and Tom.
"He's in a mood." Tom murmured to Roman.
"...Maybe something's wrong." Roman shrugged.
"Ah he's always this way..." Tom said simply.
Virgil was about to tell the two of them he had ears.
"That's not true." Roman mumbled.
Virgil kept quiet.
"...When have you seen him happy?" Tom asked.
Roman simply shrugged, "I...don't know- I just...have..."
"You two hang out outside of Drama?" Tom asked with a hint of suspicion.
"Uh...not really...just...I just drive him home usually..." Roman shrugged again, his shoulders getting tired from doing so.
"Well, it happens once in a blue moon then!" Tom joked.
Roman gave a small laugh.
Virgil flinched before sighing as he made his way to the parking lot and froze, "Um...Roman..."
Roman jogged up to Virgil side, almost slipping on the icy sidewalk as he emerged from the hallway of the school, his jaw dropped at what he saw.
Tom caught up and blinked, standing between Virgil and Roman, "What? What are we looking a-"
"MY CAR!!" Roman shrieked as he ran towards his vehicle. It was covered in snow, some on the inside from a door being opened.
Virgil's eyes widened as he slowly approached it.
Roman looked absolutely broken as he rounded it, trying to shove the ice off, but it being fresh it only stuck to his hands and provided a great deal of pain. Roman frowned and groaned as he held his hands to his head.
"Wow..." Tom walked up on the other side of Roman, looking up, "There's no trees or anything..." He held his hand out, "It's only been slightly snowing..." He looked around, "Every other car is fine..." Tom put his hand on Roman's shoulder, "I think you got punked, Ro."
Virgil tensed up at both the physical contact and the nickname and he felt his teeth slowly chatter with along with the cold.
"My car..." This is all Roman managed to whimper out.
"Hey, cheer up, I can give you a ride home!" Tom offered with a grin.
"...Really?" Roman looked at him.
"Yeah, of course! It's no problem." Tom nodded, "Come on, follow me." He began to walk towards his car.
Roman began to follow before he saw that Virgil wasn't coming, "Well?"
Virgil looked up, then looked around, "Me?" He pointed at himself.
"Nobody else other than Tom and I are in this parking lot." Roman smiled.
Tom paused and turned around on his heel, "Oh..." He sighed, "I'm sorry...I- Uh- only have room for one...darn...well, Virgil you can always walk! Come on Roman!" Tom turned to his car and opened up the passenger's seat.
Roman bit his lip hesitantly before shaking his head, "It's...alright, give Virgil my seat, I'll walk."
Tom's shoulders sagged, "But...you'll freeze!"
"So would Virgil?" Roman frowned.
"Yeah, but he's got two sweaters on!" Tom pointed out.
"And he's smaller." Roman folded his arms over his chest.
Tom was obviously getting frustrated, "Fine; Virgil can-"
"Hey, um, it's fine." Virgil couldn't help but smirk, "I'll walk with Roman."
Now Tom was all for Virgil riding with him, "O-oh! No! No! No, I insist I give you a ride!"
"Nah, like you said I have two sweaters." Virgil shrugged.
Tom clenched his fists but kept a smile, "Well! This worked out peachy then, didn't it?"
"Indeed it did." Roman smiled.
"See you two...after break..." Tom sighed before hopping into his car, starting the ignition, and speeding off.
Virgil let out an audible sigh of relief.
"...Um...you ready then?" Roman put his hands in the pockets of his thin jacket.
"Yeah, but first, here," Virgil began to take off his purple and black sweater and now wore a red and gold one, handing the black and purple one to Roman, "Put this on- ..Ro." He awkwardly handed him the sweater.
Roman's face turned a bit of a darker shade before he nodded, "Oh, um, alright- tha-nk you..." He put the sweater on quickly and smiled as he was now warm...It smells like Virgil... He noted with a smile as he hugged it close to his chest.
"Ready?" Virgil shrank down into his own sweater.
"Y-Yeah!" Roman nodded, his face even redder now.
Virgil nodded and began to walk with him out of the parking lot and down the street.
Roman continued to keep the collar of the sweater to his nose, mentally pretending that the sweater was Virgil hugging him as he breathed in his scent, though claiming he did this just because his nose was cold.
"So...do you celebrate Christmas or-" Virgil began before Roman nodded.
"Yeah, we celebrate Christmas at...my house." Roman continued to nod.
"Yeah, that's cool...me...too..." Virgil nodded before yelping as he tripped forward, though catching his balance as Roman grabbed the shoulder of his sweater and tugged him back to his feet.
"N-ice reflexes." Virgil commented as his face hue now matched Roman's.
"Oh-Oh- Yes...thank you." Roman nodded quietly.
Virgil looked behind him to see what he tripped on and saw a small package wedged in the pothole of the sidewalk. He frowned in thought before behind down and picking it up.
"What is it?" Roman asked, putting his head on Virgil's shoulder to peak over and see.
Virgil felt chills form where Roman had put his head on his shoulder, "Uh- I um-" He tried to form words in his flustered state, "It- has a- a um- a tag-" Virgil squeaked out.
"I'll read it." Roman offered, snatching the box before leaning back.
Virgil sighed in a bit of relief, not used to that much physical contact, even if it was just Roman leaning against him.
Roman's eyes widened, "Roman and Virgil!"
"...What...?"
"It's addressed to us!" Roman gasped before smiling and looking around for someone.
"W-well...open it- but make sure it isn't a prank..." Virgil mumbled.
Roman nodded as he ripped open the wrapping paper to uncover the box itself, he then read some text on the side: Hold above you when opening- this side up!
Roman squinted suspiciously but went with it and held it above himself as he opened it.
Virgil saw this and immediately felt something click in his mind.
Patton...
Patton...
Patton had set them up, Patton had gotten snow on Roman's car, knowing Virgil relied on Roman for a ride and knowing that both of their houses were down-hill from the school, and knowing that Virgil would trip on the-
"Mistlet-oe-" Roman looked up at the fake plant he held above his head.
How cliche... Virgil thought, It's just like Patton to try and do the most lovey dovey thing he could think of- he probably got it from the prop section of hell and then wrapped it up and- Virgil felt a chill on his cheek and saw just in time that Roman had kissed it. Virgil let out an audible squeak, which made Roman smile.
Roman shrugged, "Well- it um- it's Mistletoe rules..."
Virgil was silent, before speaking up, "Ch-eek-" This was all he was able to muster and mutter out.
"Yes- I um- I just- on the cheek and-"
"I want um to- um k- to um-" 404 Virgil not responding, not found.
"Come on, let's get home." Roman began.
Virgil stayed still a moment before he fell out of shock and followed quickly after Roman.
