Withdrawal: Part 3
TW: Dark themes and pain
Patton yelped and grabbed Logan's hand, pulling him away from the entrance to Virgil's room.
"What in the name of Scott was that?" Logan gave an alarmed look to Patton after hearing the shriek.
"I don't know, but look!" Patton whined as he pointed to the floor.
Black, practically pure darkness, was weeping out from under Virgil's door, slowly making its way towards Logan and Patton.
Patton turned his fear-stricken face to Logan, "I'm pretty sure we should interfere now, Lo."
"I- but they-" Logan stuttered.
"We're the magnetic force, now what the heck is that!?" Patton clung to Logan's waist as the liquid darkness came closer.
Logan winced, "I'm not sure...but something tells me it certainly isn't good."
"Wh-what do we do?" Patton fretted as he leapt up.
Logan thought for a moment before nodding curtly, "I'll go get Roman, you try and reason with Virgil...I'm sure he's the source of this."
"W-why me?" Patton swallowed nervously.
"Because you're his least least favorite." Logan sighed as he ducked down.
———
Logan appeared in front of Roman's door a few moments later, but was surprised to find something similar. There was a dark-grey pattern that was swirling and spreading from Roman's room. Logan paused before bending down and touching the grayness. He stuttered as a stab of what felt like loneliness and despair shocked his body. He quickly lifted his finger and tapped the gray area with the toe of his shoe. The feeling was still there but less with the barrier of black leather around his foot. Logan nodded before taking a breath and lifting a foot, kicking hard against the door a few times before it swung open. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw Roman's room, and the state he was in.
———
"K-kiddo?" Patton opened Virgil's door carefully, shuttering as the thick, black substance pooled around his feet. He looked around at the ominous darkness and saw that the liquid was seeping from the walls, that being the source. He looked around worriedly and his face dropped in horror as soon as he caught sight of Virgil.
———
"Dear, lord...what have you done to yourself?" Logan whispered as he approached Roman.
Roman's room was completely gray and solemn. As for Roman- So was he.
"...What...?" Roman turned to Logan who let out a little gasp.
"Your eyes!" Logan shuttered. Roman was a variety of hues of gray, and to replace his pupils were two, dark grey circles. Logan slowly approached Roman with caution, "What...happened to you?"
"What do you mean...?" Roman's expression didn't change.
"Look at yourself! You're- you appear to be absolutely dull..." Logan's voice was etched with concern.
"Oh." Was all that Roman said.
Logan's heart-beat raced with worry, "Roman you need to fix yourself."
"Fix...myself?"
"You need to-" Logan couldn't wrap his head around this, "You need Virgil!"
———
"Kiddo...what happened to you?" Patton's eyes welled with tears as he approached Virgil.
Virgil was letting out multiple pants of effort from his bed. The black liquid was pooling around him and covered him like a spider's web.
"Kid...?" Patton reaches a hand out to touch him, but the second he touches the black-substance, his whole body scorched with pain and he let out a yelp, that's when the tears fell, "We-we need to get you out of here!"
———
"Virgil...?"
"Yes! You need Virgil!" Logan found himself panicking.
"...I'm fine." Roman shrugged.
"No. No you most certainly aren't." Logan huffed.
"Just leave me alone..."
Logan took in a breath before snapping, "Get up! Get up this instant! For god's sake you're being so pitiful right now! Get up and fix what you've done!"
Roman's eyes widened at the amount of passion coming from Logan, but he didn't move an inch.
"Roman. I will drag you from that bed if I have to."
"Go. Away..." Roman hissed.
"You leave me no choice." Logan sighed and grabbed hold of Roman's arm, pulling him as hard as he could off the bed. He managed that much before he had to stop and catch his breath.
———
Patton sniffled, "I- I- Virgil...Virgil why is this happening...?"
Virgil's eyes met Patton's, they had disks of black replaced by pupils but sill showed a look of pain, "R..."
"What is it, Virge?" Patton took a step forward.
"I wan...t..."
"You want what?"
"' ...nt Ro..."
Patton nodded understandingly, "O-Okay- can you move."
"...'t hurts..." Virgil's voice cracked in pain.
"What hurts, Virge, what?"
"Every..."
"Everything? ...Okay, it's okay...I-" Patton took in a deep breath, "Patton Sanders...you can do this...be the father figure you were born to be..." Patton looked at Virgil and went in, grabbing hold of his arm to pull him free, however, this fell short as pain was tripled in Patton's body and he felt as if his entire whole of himself was being burned, forcing him to let go and cry out in pain.
———
Logan heard the cry and let out a small gasp, "Patton." He turned to the groaning Roman on the floor and instantly felt his anger throb through his veins, "You. You need to fix this." Logan firmly grabbed onto both of Roman's arms and yanked, tugging him towards the door.
Roman yelped out in pain as he was harshly dragged but made no move o resist.
Logan soon hoisted the Royal through the door, "Now, we can take the long way and walk to Virgil's room, or you can cooperate and teleport." Logan's voice came off as menacingly, sending chills down Roman's spine.
"Long way..." Roman mumbled.
"We're. Teleporting." Logan hissed oUt, his glare as sharp as daggers.
Roman could see the sincerity in his eyes and reluctantly obliged, the two of them then teleporting into Virgil's room.
The both of them winced as their bare-skin touches the scorching black-substance, prompting Roman to get up to his feet.
"Look. What you've. Done." Logan grabbed Roman by the chin and turned his head to the panting Virgil who's face showed just how much pain he was in.
It took Roman a moment to process things before the color in his body began returning, the gray slowly turning into an array of his usual colors the instant he saw Virgil, and a moment later a pile of guilt, regret, and overall pain crashed over him as he recognized that Virgil was in pain. He instantly raced forward, skidding to a halt at the edge of Virgil's bed, "Oh my-stars- Virgil-" Roman's voice came out choked, "I beg you the deepest of apologies, this- this is all my fault, love...Dear stars-"
Virgil simply let out a whimper and tried to wriggle towards Roman, but simply gasped out in pain with his efforts.
Roman felt his own anger at himself welling up to the point of breaking loose, "This god awful beast shall he vanquished, I swear!"
"Roman- Wait- it'll hurt you!" Patton yelped.
"I would soon rather die than watch any more of this!" Roman wrapped his arms around Virgil. Instantly, pain spread throughout his own body, like dry-ice sticking to your front teeth. He let out a screech as he insured the pain and wrenched Virgil free.
The moment Virgil was released from the black-substance, a hissing noise was heard as it began to suck itself back into the depths of Virgil's walls until it was no more.
Roman collapsed onto the ground with Virgil in his arms as soon as the pain left his body. Virgil laid limp, his breathing shallow, Roman's voice came out shaky, "This- he hasn't- this-"
"What...what was this? Exactly?" Patton whispered through emotional tears.
"An- a- an- anxiety attack- an extreme one...very extreme..." Roman choked out.
"What about your...lack of color...?" Logan put in.
"It's a natural reaction to the shriveling is creativity..." Roman responded absent-minded, as he was too concerned with Virgil's conditions, "He needs to calm down but he's not..." Roman's breathing was quickening, "Virgil, Virgil dear...If you can hear me, love, know that...I'm- I am so... sorry... and- I love you...I love you so much, I swear, I swear to the stars, and I promise to the stars that I will always love you...don't listen to me when I'm being an arrogant idiot...I love you too much to lose you, Virge...please, you're okay? You're okay, aren't you? Virgil, Virgil I love you, do I make myself clear? I really, really, love you...Virgil, I was wrong, I do need you, I do..."
There was silence.
"...You just...said you loved me...five times..." Virgil called out weakly through a slightly smiling face.
A wave of relief washed over the three other aspects.
Roman instantly felt his arms grow weak and leaned forward to press his forehead to Virgil's.
"I'll never...let you live this down..." Virgil chuckled.
Roman gave a small smile as he allowed tears to fall down into Virgil's face, "I don't care one bit, I would want you to know that I love you always and forever- even if I regret acting this way tomorrow...I just-" Roman let out a shaky breath, "I'm acting silly...I'm so sorry, I promise you that."
"Of course you are...you were an idiot."
"Yes...I know..."
"And an asshole."
"Yes..."
"And a pric Prince."
"Enough." Roman sighed, but continued to smile.
Virgil's smile turned to a slight frown, "It...It really...hurt though..."
"The black liquid?"
"No- I mean, yes- but...Ro, I don't think you get how much your words mean to me- I mean- geez, why'd you have to be so sappy? Now I have to be emotional- just- your words mean...a lot...to me...so...don't screw them up, got it?"
"I've got it..." Roman promised.
"Magnetic force..." Patton smiled to Logan, who smiled back in return.
"And Roman?"
"Yes...?"
"...I...love you too."
