Chapter seven - Being Open
Recap:
Anxiety breathed out, interrupting our previous comfortable silence. "I can see why... it's beautiful..." I shifted my gaze to Virgil.
He was... smiling... genuinely.
Wow...
~~~
No pov:
Roman felt his heart flutter. The rare, genuine prize that was the dark persona's smile made the prince's heart swoon. Wait, what? No. He wasn't swooning, he was just... not used to seeing this side of Anxiety. That's all. No more. No less. Roman mentally sighed, he knew full well that that wasn't the case, no matter how much he wanted it to be.
In the span of like 3 hours, give or take, Roman's entire point of view on the imitating emo had changed. It felt unnatural. Not only because of the sudden change in his normally strong, unchangeable opinions but because of the dark man himself Roman was beginning to grow fond of. The two were total opposites. It made no sense for Roman to do more than tolerate his existence.
OPPOSITES ATTRACT
Roman brushed off the thought. It was ludicrous. Of course, he wasn't the most rational facet, that title belonged to Logan, but it still felt strange to even him. He glanced over at the catalyst of his bad vibes. The bright colorful sunset made the emo's eyes twinkle slightly, almost like stars, foreshadowing the soon coming stars. They glowed brighter than any star could probably dream.
Unusually, Anxiety had brushed his curly locks behind his ears so Roman could see all aspects of his fellow trait's face. That's when, in his staring, Roman noticed some light brown, barely noticeable, dots decorating his pale cheeks. Freckles. He winced, it was too cute. Cute. Anxiety. Anxiety's cute. The realization finally came to Roman, a familar warmth electrifying his face.
He took in every break taking part on his rooftop companion. The gentle, bright embrace that the sun provided to Anxiety's pale skin highlighted the beautiful features of him. Wow... He was gorgeous. How had Roman not noticed before? Sure, they both looked similar because they were two of Thomas' facets, they still stood out from eachother because of small differences.
Maybe, that didn't matter. Maybe, he was just being egotistical because they looked similar. Yeah, that's it. Or what he wanted to believe. Fortunately, Roman's seemingly endless train of thought was interrupted by the cause of his thoughts himself, Anxiety addressing him. "Ummm... staring, Princey..." Roman's cheeks were, again, painted with a lovely dark crimson that everyone loves having.
He immediately looked away, hoping the new found holder of the prince's affection wasn't completely creeped out. The two remained silent for a while longer, just basking in the glory of the sunset, until Virgil spoke up again. "You know..." Virgil's eyes remained on the view but he still felt Roman's eyes immediately give the emo his full attention.
He felt his cheeks heat up, quietly praying his foundation was covering it. "When I came here, I did it because the rest of the..." Virgil arched his shoulders out of instinct. He wasn't exactly used to being open to others, especially Roman. His chest constricted in worry of how the prince would react. The entire time he was looking at the setting sun he mentally planning this.
He had promised that he wouldn't mention a few things partly because he knew Roman would react badly to them, especially Daredevil. As well as he didn't want to seem weak to any of the sides, particularly Roman. Virgil decided to continue his confessing as he had gone silent for a while. "Dark sides..." Virgil mumbled under his breath, he didn't like reflecting on that point in his life.
At the same time, he felt it was necessary to unpack his baggage and at least attempt to start a new. Maybe even become a part of the light sides. Ha, like that could ever happen.
"They were huge assholes and I hated them all." That was a lie. He didn't hate all of them, just two out of the original three. Remy was okay. "It sucked. Being there. It was borderline toxic at times." Roman knew from the look at his supposed foe's face that he was being, at least partly, honest. He felt honoured being the first to hear of this information.
"When I just poofed here one day, I just had had it. That's the reason I left and I stayed. But the breathtaking views are an added bonus." For the first time in Anxiety's speech, he looked at the trait he was opening up to. Roman could see all the beautiful features of his face in even more detail. He wanted nothing more than to grab the emo's face and count all his freckles.
Roman realized he was excepted to respond so he attempted to before he was quickly interrupted. "Anxiety-"
"Virgil."
That wasn't in the emo's original plan to reveal his name. In fact he never intended to reveal his name to the other sides period. It felt right though. The visible shock on Roman's face was enough to send him into a fit of giggles. Roman smiled at the now giggly An- Virgil. "Well, thank you for opening up to me, Virgil."
Just hearing Roman say his name made Virgil blush intensely.
A/N sorry for being absolutely useless when it comes to updating this story but it's a name reveal chapter and it's about to get really gay. Pls don't be mad.
