Why?

That was the question that was now constantly flooding his mind.

Why him?

Why...

It just- didn't make sense!

And of course, one could argue that feelings don't have to make sense, but still-

Having an enormous crush on someone who plainly dislikes you, if not hates you?

No sense in it at all.

He honestly couldn't even remember how it started, it just- did...

It just happened, slowly but surely...

He saw, now.

Saw how things truly were.

Past the apparent egoism, he now saw self love.

Past the apparent arrogance, he now saw his caring for others.

Past the apparent over dramatical-ness, he now saw pure excitement.

He was just...perfect.

Way, way too perfect to ever even consider being with someone as broken as Virgil.

That was a fact.

He was annoying, broken and unlovable, and he was fully aware of it.

Still, he couldn't help but hope...

Hope that someday his prince will come save him from his hostile, lonely and cold kingdom of isolation, and take him into a world, where everything was as beautiful and exhilarating as his prince...

Virgil knew it would never happen, but again, there was always a small flicker of hope within him.

It was small, unsure, a little hesitant even, but it was there.

A maybe.

Maybe it was possible?

Maybe, there was an infinitesimal chance that...that the Prince could love him back?

It was at the very least a hypothetical possibility, right?

Yeah.

Yeah, Virgil could live with that.

Of course, seeing Roman and realizing how extremely unlikely it would be for him to like someone like Virgil would still absolutely crush him, but...

But hope still existed.

Virgil knew it did.

He also knew this "optimism" was quite uncharacteristic of him.

But...maybe, just maybe it wasn't so bad.
