-Do You Even Care? {🖤LOGICALITY💙}

TW: Crying

Logan was walking down the steps of the staircase at what he decided was the perfect speed. He was covering the distance from point A to point B (point A being his bedroom and point B being the kitchen) quickly enough to not be considered slow by a hypothetical person behind him, but still calmly enough so that if he, again hypothetically, missed a step or slipped he would be able to catch himself on the banister and limit the gravity of the fall.

But both scenarios were, as aforementioned, hypothetical.

Why, you ask?

Well, simply because Logan: First of all, preferred to be alone (his roommates knew that, and respected that he wasn't a huge fan of crowds and similar things), so another person walking just behind him was a rather improbable occurrence, and second of all, he didn't make mistakes (well, that kind of mistakes, at least).

All that aside, Logan was now entering the dimly lit kitchen (it was 6:30 in the morning, after all) which gave into the lounge, where he could see two figures "cuddling" on the couch.

Well, Logan wasn't sure if cuddling was the right term. They were just kind of sprawled over each other, really.

Either way, it was none of his business, so he thought he'd just start preparing his breakfast.

As he walked in the direction of the toaster, he noticed something. A soft noise, similar to the one people make when they're trying to suppress a giggle...or a sob.

Intrigued, Logan walked around to the other side of the counter to find a very distraught, crying Patton all huddled up on the floor in a corner, his face buried into his knees. Logan's jaw dropped slightly. That- definitely wasn't a situation he would have easily pictured Patton in. Still, it was happening, and considering all the times Patton had helped him with his emotional distress, trying to be of assistance was the least he could do.

Actually, he had been noticing, recently, small changes in Patton. He didn't seem to be making half as many puns as he used to, and his smile didn't seem as bright anymore. Logan didn't acknowledge it because he thought he might be over analyzing things, but now he could see those were not simple, small changes of character.

He approached Patton slowly and cautiously, crouching down so that when Patton raised his head, they would be on the same eye level.

Logan spoke, well, whispered to Patton's trembling figure.

"Patton, what's wrong? Is there anything I can be of assistance with?"

The curled up body in front of Logan flinched at the sound of his voice.

"Tell me-" The other flinched again "-Please?"

At this, Patton seemed to consider for some time. Eventually, he timidly tilted up his head, tear stains marking his face, glasses askew and ruffled hair.

"L-Logan, I-"

His breathing was accelerating and tears were starting to erupt from his eyes once more.

"Take your time, Patton. Would you like me to teleport us to my room?"

The curled up figure nodded, although it did seem more like a flinching movement than anything...Still, the man with the tie leaned forward and lightly touched the other's shoulder (he knew that touch might have been a bit much for Patton at the time, but physical contact was necessary if both parties were to be teleported together) and snapped his fingers, transporting the blue couple to the logical one's room.

Swiftly picking up the cardigan wearing man, Logan then sat on his bed, lightly placing Patton beside him.

"So, what's wrong?"

He was met by a pair of light brown eyes, full of (clearly fake) confusion.

"Nothing's wrong! I just got a lil emotional, that's all!"

At that, Logan new for certain it was a serious matter. He lay his hand on Patton's knee, letting him know he was there, whilst still giving him space, and spoke.

"Patton, we've talked about you repressing your emotions, and about how unhealthy it is for your mental health. Please, if something is bothering you, tell me. I am very willing to listen and provide comfort as best as I can."

The dog loving one seemed to be in deep thought. Should he spill to Logan? He did say he wanted to help...but what if he's just saying it out of pity, or because he needs me to be fine for some job? He couldn't be sure, really...

Oh well, he might as well go for it...He hardly cared at this point, anyway.

"I- Well, d-do you guys even care!?"

The volume of voice at which Patton uttered that phrase startled Logan, but really, he was more concerned about the content of said phrase...

"We do. Have we given you the impression we do not?"

His gaze softened, trying to indirectly tell the other that he could take his time and only say things he was comfortable saying.

"I-I...I don't know, it's just- When I opened up to you guys about, well, how I f-felt, you kinda seemed to...brush it off? It's probably just me Logan, really, I-"

To stop the other from rambling, Logan reached forward and lightly pressed a finger to Patton's lips. The other immediately snapped out of his ranting, extremely flushed.

"Patton, please believe me when I say me and the others never meant for you to feel such a way. Is there anything we could do to help you feel better? Perhaps a movie night, or a family dinner?"

Logan let his gaze slip onto Patton, whose cheeks were now a light pink (which also happened to accentuate his freckles). If you asked them, they would have both said they'd zoned out, but in reality, they were just admiring each other's eyes.

A small coughing sound from Patton bought them back to reality.

"C-could I maybe, if you don't mind, have a h-hug? If that's ok with you If course, I-"

He stopped mid sentence as a wave of warmth washed over him. Strong arms were cradling his back, making him feel secure, and a chin was softly placed on top of his head, not before he felt himself being given a swift but sincere kiss on his forehead.

"Pat-" At that soft, deep voice whispering to him, Patton felt a shiver run down his back. "-I promise I will do my absolute best to make sure you feel more cared for. Also, from now on, if you ever feel the need for a hug, or even just company in general, I will be very willing to help."

The cardigan wearing man uttered a small "Thank you", and let himself be lulled to sleep by the body heat surrounding him, also making a mental note to ask Logan a question the following morning...

🖤💙

Hi everyone!

So, apparently, this book has reached like 4.3k reads (which just baffles me, honestly), so a HUGE thank you to all of you humans reading this!

Also, @wonderidiot , I hope I didn't modify the request too much, and that you enjoyed this lil one shot-

And another thing, so, my book "My Soulmark", which was my first book and a quite crappy one, really, has like 3.4k reads, while "Stunning", my newer and in my opinion, better book, only has about 200.

So in short, PLEASE GO CHECK OUT STUNNING AND GIVE IT A READ-

Ok that's all-
