Personal Nurse (Logicality)

TW: Mentions minor injuries and thorns, mentions of epipens, mentions of shots, Remus, and a few cuss words.

Camp au

{Third Person POV}

"Logan?"

Logan peeked his head around the corner, recognizing the voice of a very clumsy and sometimes idiotic camp counselor. While said counselor quite enjoyed his stays at the infirmary Logan didn't and he immediately looked the other up and down, scanning him for any sign of injury.

"What happened now?" He asked, walking into the main entrance of the infirmary. He didn't see any cuts, reactions, or stings on Patton's arms or face, and if there was something he must have gotten better at acting since the last time Logan saw him.

"Nothin'. Can't I visit my favorite nurse?" Patton said, a smile on his face that Logan recognized as a pained one, one that he would put on when Logan had to put medicine on his scraps and cuts, that was supposed to mask the searing pain from the wound, which was quite often. Really, the camp should get rid of all those thorny bushes on the hiking paths.

"Did you get another spider bite?" Logan asked, walking closer to see if he missed something. The other shook his head, "Well did you get rabies again? Because you should really keep away from wild raccoons." Logan really didn't enjoy emergency shots, he only did it when his more experienced and qualified co-worker Kelly wasn't avaliable.

"Nope, got all my shots last week, and what can I say? Raccoons are adorable, they're like little cats I'm not allergic to." Patton said as Logan circled around him, seeing a familiar blotch of red on the nape of Patton's neck, just under his sandy brown hair.

"Poison ivy?"

"Poison oak." Logan nodded, sighing softly. It's been two days since camp started, how has he already got something wrong with him? "Right, follow me." Patton sighed, following Logan out and into the also familiar white room where Logan and Kelly gave anyone who needs it medicine and in cases that usually include Patton, immediate rabies shots and epipen injections.

"Take your shirt off." Logan said, taking out some calamine lotion and a cotton ball. Patton sighed but took off the light blue shirt with the camp's name on it in white, bunching it up and holding it. Logan shook the bottle and put some of the lotion on the cotton ball, "So... anything new?" Patton asked as Logan gently applied the lotion on his back.

"Not particularly, I managed to get an internship at a doctor's office in September though." Patton hummed as the lotion was rubbed onto his back, the slight coolness of it relieving the mild burning from his extreme itching earlier that day.

"That's great Lo! Did it go well?" He asked, subconsciously turning to try and see the other. Logan gently moved his head forward with his free hand, "It did, I assisted with paperwork and managed to help with a few shots for children."

Patton chuckled, "Hopefully none of them were for rabies."

Logan couldn't help the smile that graced his lips, "There was no rabies shots needed. Just simple things for the school year such as the flu. But I'm ranting, what did you do during the year?"

"Not much, got a job at the animal shelter and got to foster a dog for a bit. Oh! and my little brother graduated eighth grade." Logan noticed he seemed rather proud of the last thing, even though it didn't involve him. Patton was usually like that, excited for other people and their accomplishments, whether they were big or small.

"Good for him. So he's going to be a freshman this year?" Logan finished applying the lotion and shut the cap of the bottle. He now had to wait for it to dry before putting on some more, as Patton usually needs two layers of it to start to feel a bit better.

"Yep! Can't wait to start driving him with me, we'll finally be in the same school." Logan hummed, "Well is he excited?"

Patton pouted a bit, "No, he's pretty scared about it. But he gets like that about alot of things, he has an anxiety disorder so... yeah." Patton shrugged. Logan nodded, "I remember my first day of high school, I was fairly nervous until about the second day. Then I was used to all the classes."

"I was excited for my first day. Couldn't wait for clubs and new people and all that, was late most of my classes that day though." Patton smiled, thinking back on fourteen year old him basically bouncing off the walls from excitement that day. He's still like that, but now he's on time for classes. Most of the time anyways.

Logan checked to see if the lotion was dry, gently patting Patton's back. "I had managed to be on time for most of my classes the first day, but my principles of biomedicine class was hard to find, I was five minutes late to it."

Patton snickered, "Never imagined you being late to anything." It was true, Logan was very prim and proper, early to meetings meetings involved the entire staff and for work. Logan seemed confused by it though and furrowed his dark brows, "What's that mean?"

"Nothing. You just seem like your not late for anything. Very put together. Like a teacher." Patton shrugged, he did that when he didn't know what else to do or say, when he ran out of ideas on what to do. "Well, I'll have you know that you're correct, I'm usually quite early for things."

"Yeah, I figured. Hey, is the lotion dry yet? I gotta help with swimming soon." Logan checked, "Almost, just a bit longer."

Patton huffed, "That sucks. I'm gonna be bored." "I highly doubt that. Why don't you tell me more about the school year? I'd love to hear about it." Logan knew Patton liked talking just as much as he loved listening, so it was easy to listen as the two waited for the lotion to dry and as Logan applied another layer.

Logan had found out that Patton convinced his brother, who he found out was named Virgil, to come to the camp for the first time. He said that Virgil didn't like going to new places or like the outdoors, but after telling him about all the artsy things the camp also does he had agreed.

He also found out that Patton had an older sister who was studying to be a veterinarian. She was twenty-three and went to a college in a different state, and Patton was just as proud as he talked about her as he was with Virgil.

It was also mentioned how having more than three allergies was passed down to each kid. His older sister had pollen allergies, was allergic to nuts, and is lactose intolerant. Patton was allergic to cats, pollen, apples, gluten, bees, wasps, and polyester while Virgil was only allergic to bees, strawberries, and most nuts.

"So should I keep an eye out for your brother?" Logan asked, watching Patton put his T-shirt back on. "Hope not, he's cautious about his allergies. Makes sure everything is okay."

"Maybe you should learn from him, I don't want to be called down to your cabin to give you an epipen because you lost yours and accidently ate applesauce." Logan could remember like yesterday when he had to wake up in the middle of the night and inject Patton with epinephrine. He also had the luxury to escort him to the hospital and make sure all was okay, which everything was.

Patton grinned, "Look, I didn't know what it was. You can't blame me." "Of course I can. If you have allergies you should keep an eye on what you're eating." Logan said, and the tone reminded Patton of his mom, a bit patronizing with concern laced through it.

Patton hummed, "Alright, well I gotta go. See 'ya later."

"No offense but I hope I don't see you for awhile."

~

A few days later Patton was back with a few cuts from the blasted bush that refused to go away. Each year it was cut and each year it came back, somehow even more prickly than before. This time Logan got to see Virgil for the first time, as his medication had came in and he had to start taking it.

"Hey Lo! You look nice today, got new glasses?" Patton smiled as if he didn't have little cuts on most of his body, including a few on his face, all making scarlet dot his ivory skin.

"Good afternoon Patton, and no, these are my usual glasses." Logan gestured for the two to follow him into the room Patton had to have lotion applied to his back, along with a myriad of other accidents that had to be fixed by his basically personal nurse.

The two walked in and Patton sat down on the cot, Virgil standing next to him and fidgeting with his hands. He hasn't taken his medication since his first day there and he really needed something to calm him down, even just a bit.

"Virgil, would you like some water?" Logan asked as he unlocked a cabinet that contained the pills guests may need. He scanned for Virgil's antidepressants and anxiety medication, picking up the two bottles after he found them.

Virgil nodded and Logan did the same, continuing on. "I apologize for the wait, I hadn't realized how long it would take for your parents to mail the medication." Logan said, pouring water into a paper cup and setting it on the counter for Virgil, who walked over.

"You're fine. Uhm, I should've told you I forgot it sooner." Virgil picked up the two pills and downed the water as he swallowed them down. Now he has to brace himself for a day full of drowsiness. God, he really needs to get some new antidepressants.

"I suppose so, but I don't blame you. Now, you can leave if you'd like. Patton told me you don't care for new people." Logan said, looking around for some bandages and petroleum jelly.

"He did?" Virgil shot a half-hearted glare at his older brother, who shrugged with an embarrassed smile. "Sorry Vee, but I couldn't really stop talking. And Lo's a great listener." Virgil seen Logan smile at that as he grabbed the small tub of petroleum jelly.

"Yeah, yeah. I get it, you talk alot." Virgil watched as Logan ran some water, checking the temperature of it before deciding it was good. "Patton, come here."

Patton happily got up, walking over to the sink and leaning against the counter, "You're cleaning the little cuts now, right?"

"Yes, now please hold still while I do." Logan turned off the sink and grabbed a hand towel so he could properly clean the other's arms, legs, and face.

So Virgil watched as Logan did so, using warm water and soap to clean his brother's legs, arms, and some of his face, which included his left cheek and just under his jaw. Patton really took a nasty fall during the hike, and it was painfully obvious he did. But Logan treated him gently while cleaning the cuts, the warmth of the water making Patton's entire body warm and fuzzy from the outside in.

The two kept up a conversation as he did so, and Patton tried to include Virgil in it every once in awhile, though he hadn't really tried to say much. He was content with listening and getting another towel for Logan to pat him dry.

"Guys, guys, guys," Virgil looked up at him, "I'm Patton." Patton grinned and Logan glared up at him from where he was grabbing some tweezers. Completely unamused with his thin lips in a straight line, and he looked so used to it that Virgil would be willing to wager Patton did that at most visits with Logan. He did it at home all the time.

"That was awful." Virgil said, smile pulling at his mouth despite how much he hated that joke. Patton was grinning though and his smile was contagious, as his happiness always went up to his eyes as well, which lit up like fairy lights. He tended to remind Virgil of a Christmas tree, with frilly decorations and bright colorful lights that made other people smile as well.

"It was, now please hold still. I need to look for any thorns." Logan held a pair of tweezers and a small magnifying glass, which he held up to Patton's arm.

"'Kay. But what do 'ya do after this?" Patton asked and Logan plucked a thorn out of his forearm. He flinched and Logan gently held his hand for just a moment, making sure he didn't try to move his arm again.

"I apply petroleum jelly and some bandages. Though I'm afraid you'll have to use the Hello Kitty ones, there's no blank ones." Logan let go of Patton's hand, walking over to see his other arm. The thorns were bigger than he expected and he found they were quite easy to see.

"Oh c'mon, I love Hello Kitty, I'd rather have those anyways." Patton flinched again as Logan plucked another thorn. Virgil did too, it must have felt awful, but when he moved Logan held his hand once again. "Yes, I assumed you would."

"You know me like the back of your hand, huh Lo?" Patton asked with a content smile and Logan allowed his own smile to form. "Well I certainly know your allergies like the back of my hand."

Virgil couldn't help but smile with them, the two seemed to get along just fine and while he really wasn't surprised by that, as Patton could talk to anybody, he hadn't expected Logan to be the same. He seemed much more serious and calmer than Patton, but he tolerated his happiness and was obviously used to his clumsiness.

So he watched as Logan finished up his job, applying petroleum jelly and sticking on some brightly colored Hello Kitty band-aids, which Virgil helped with.

"There, all done. Now please don't come back for a while. I'd like for this year to be your least amount of visits." Logan said, sticking the last band-aid to Patton's cheek, just by his upper lip.

"But how else will I see my favorite nurse?" Patton teased and Logan rolled his eyes, "I have lunch at twelve, you could come by then instead of hurting yourself."

That familiar grin Patton seemed to always wear came back, "I will."

~

"Heyyyy Lo, how're 'ya?" Logan turned, being met with Patton in the doorway, leaning against the frame.

"What's wrong now?" Logan didn't see anything out of place and if there was something wrong Patton was hiding it fairly well, similar to the first day he came. Patton sniffled, "Nothing, why?"

Logan frowned, "Allergies?"

Patton gave him a bashful smile, a rosy color blooming on his cheeks, either from embarrassment or he was getting flushed from the pollen again.

"Smart, aren't 'cha?" Patton asked, not really expecting an answer as he made his way over, Logan already getting out the medication Patton needed.

"I get told so." Logan said as he got out the bottle, opening it and taking out two pills for Patton. He really wishes the camp would allow him to keep it in his cabin, as most of Patton's visits were for allergy pills such as these. It would really make things easier.

"There you are." He said as he got a cup of water. "Do you need anything else?"

"Like... in general or... medically speaking?" Patton asked as he took the medicine, downing the water quickly. Logan crossed his arms, "Well I meant medically speaking, but do you need something else?"

"I was gonna ask if you were doing anything Thursday. That's when the camp's first dance is and I need to get some people to chaperone." He looked down at the paper cup still in his hand, turning it around a couple times. "Just wonderin' though. You don't have to."

"Isn't that dance for pride month? I don't remember having dances so early last year." Patton looked up, eyes a bit wide. Deer in headlights wide, a nervous expression that was much different from his happy wide-eyed face.

"Uh, yeah. Some counselors and kids thought it'd be a good idea. Y'know, they're all teens anyhow, so they like... understand better and stuff. Thought it'd be a good idea." Patton tried to get his rant out in one go, speaking fast in a nervous way rather than excited. His tone was careful and anxious, as if he didn't want to hit a nerve with Logan.

"Well I'd love to. I think it's a rather good idea to have everyone in a fun celebration for pride, even if they're not part of the community themself. What time is it?" Patton broke into a grin, relieved more than ever to know that his favorite nurse was perfectly calm about it.

"That's great! It's from nine to eleven, so only a couple hours." He watched as Logan picked up a pen, turning to the calendar not far from him, hanging by the cabinet with all the pills.

Oh goodness, Patton was so relieved that Logan agreed to this. He was terrified he'd give him a weird look and dismiss the subject, or even say something rude. Despite Patton's love of talking to people about things he thought were nice, not everybody agreed with him, and he was scared Logan was one of them.

But here he was, writing down all the details in his calendar.

"That's rather late isn't it? I like the idea of the celebration but they really shouldn't be up that late." Logan said as he clicked the cap back on his pen. "Yeah, it kinda is. But at least the day after is free day, so the kids will have time to sleep even longer."

Logan shrugged, mulling it over. "I suppose. Most teens seem to stay up later that recommended anyway."

"Bet you didn't." Patton couldn't picture Logan staying up later than nine, so that was another reason he was a bit hesitant to ask. He didn't want Logan to be tired the next day.

Logan nodded, "You're correct, I didn't and still haven't. The latest I stayed awake was during finals, where I didn't go to sleep until eleven thirty. I don't recommend doing that by the way, I was exhausted the entire day."

"I remember I used to stay up until midnight doing random things. Like I once stayed up drawing, or once I didn't sleep until one because I was busy making bracelets." Patton chuckled. "Not the best idea. Fall asleep pretty easily now."

"Well that's good. A regular sleep schedule is healthy for you." Patton hummed, checking the time "Yeah. Well, guess I gotta go. Taking some kids on a hike soon."

"Please be careful. Taking thorns out of you is tiring after a while." Logan said and Patton laughed, "Aw c'mon Lo, you know you love my visits."

A smirk was on Logan's face, "I'd prefer to see you out of the infirmary, thank you very much. But that's why I'm going with you to the dance." Patton grinned, excited to see Logan there, "I can't wait."

~

Thursday evening Patton was greeted with Logan visiting his cabin, still in his polo shirt, which was white with his name embroidered in red. He had just finished his last shift and decided to go see Patton before changing into more causual clothes.

Patton had grinned upon seeing him, crow's feel gathering by his eyes as he was pushed out of the way by a visibly younger boy with long, curly hair.

"Is Jan here?" He looked up and was obviously dissapointed to see it wasn't his friend and instead someone he didn't even know.

"Sorry bud, just my friend Lo." Patton gestured over to Logan, who had a dumbstruck smile on his face at that. Logan didn't usually have friends, and being called someone's friend made his face grow warm and heart lurch in a way he quite liked.

The boy noticed the weird look he had and side-eyed him, "You sure?"

"Yeah? Lo, we're friends right?" Logan nodded and the boy still had a skeptical look, "Okayyy. Well, I'm gonna go look for Jan." He began to walk and Patton grabbed his arm gently.

"Bup, bup, bup, bup, where do you think you're going?" He said it the way a father would to his misbehaving son, and the boy moved his arm away. "You know you can't go anywhere without Janus. You're still in trouble."

The boy groaned dramatically and trudged back inside, shutting the door behind him. Well, more like slamming it.

Logan casted Patton a confused look, "What's that all about?" He asked and Patton inhaled, leaning on the door as he exhaled, cheeks puffing out. "Remus brought firecrackers and scared some sixth graders last night. So now he can't go anywhere without Janus, since he's a year older than him."

"He brought firecrackers? Does he still have them?" Patton shook his head, "Nah, it's all good." He grinned, "Now, why'd you come all the way over to see me?"

Logan shrugged something he didn't really do much, "Not sure. I just felt like seeing you. The infirmary is only a few feet away anyways." Patton still had that silly grin on his face, his naturally pink lips curled up and dimples showing. Logan liked it, and most people did too, it was contagious and was so genuine it could make someone wonder if he was just a really good actor.

"Figured, but it's still nice to see you. Wanna have dinner later?" Dinner was served at six, so the two had an hour until then if Logan said yes. Logan didn't have any plans and smiled, "I'd love too, though I have to change out of these clothes first."

"That's fine, we have an hour anyhow, and crafts is in a few minutes. Oh! Why don't you come to that too?" Logan, still with that content smile on his face, agreed, "That sounds lovely. Though I must warn you, I'm not the best when it comes to crafts."

"That's fine, I can show you what to do." Patton had shifted and now had his hand on the doorknob, ready to open it. "Well that's nice of you, I'll see you in a few minutes."

"Just come back here, 'kay?"

"I will."

So, Logan went back to his own room, which was connected to the infirmary building, the same with Kelly's, as they weren't counselors like Patton and didn't have to share a room with kids. It was small, with only enough room for a twin size bed, a dresser, and a bedside drawer. Logan's sure if he stood in the middle and moved back and forth with his arms out he could touch the walls with his fingertips.

But he didn't think about that and instead searched his dresser drawers for a decent outfit. He found a good button up shirt, which was cream white and long sleeved, but he decided he'd just roll them up so he wasn't hot.

He also found a sky blue sweater vest with white clouds on it, which was a gift from his mom that he didn't wear much. She must have packed it when he wasn't looking, and just as soon as he took it out he went to put it back, but after a moment of thinking he knew Patton would like it, and he liked making Patton happy. It was nice to see his smile.

So he grabbed a pair of tan corduroy shorts and changed. He tried to go as fast as he could, but in his haste had incorrectly buttoned his shirt twice, so he tried to walk as fast as he could back to Patton's cabin.

When he got there Patton was standing outside and talking to Virgil, who was holding his phone and had a pair of headphones on, angled so only one ear was actually covered. Patton had noticed him before Logan was even close to the two and he nudged for Virgil to follow him as he walked over to Logan.

"Lo!" Patton pulled Logan into one of his bone-crushing yet comforting hugs, and after the mild shock Logan wrapped his arms back around Patton, with his hands on the back of his neck, just by his wavy and sandy brown hair. It was in the same spot where Patton had poison oak, and it was now just as smooth and cool as the rest of his skin, which reassured Logan.

When the two pulled away Patton noticed the sweatervest, "Oh that's so pretty, Lo! Where'd you get it?" Logan felt that smile pull at his lips, the one that was specifically reserved for Patton, who was the only one who could really get one out of him.

"Actually it was a homemade gift, but thank you." "Oh it's no problem, Lo. But you'll have to introduce me to who made it, they have to teach me how." Something about the idea of Patton meeting his mom made Logan giddy inside and make him feel like a child as Patton looped his arm with Logan's.

He gestured for Virgil to follow and the three began their trek to the building where everyone ate. It was also for any activities before or after meals were served, such as dances or meetings for the staff. This included crafts before dinner, if kids wanted to join that is, as it was considered free time for them to do anything.

The three walked into the building, where a counselor was already showing some juniors how to properly braid a friendship bracelet. The boy with curly hair from earlier was beading a colorful and mismatched bracelet next to a boy with dirty blond hair and a beanie, who looked severely disinterested as he picked at his nails.

"Vee, why don't you go talk to Janus? He looks bored." Virgil glared up at his brother as if he had grown an extra head but Patton just gestured over with his free hand, "You'll be fine, go."

Virgil mumbled something but walked over, well, more like trudged over, and sat across from the curly haired boy. The two briefly watched as the boy happily turned his attention to Virgil, the other boy looking up from his nails and at him.

"So, whaddya wanna do?" Logan shrugged, "I don't mind, you can pick."

At that Patton smiled, "Then let's make bracelets! We can put our names on them." So Patton dragged Logan over and the two sat down next to all the beads, strings, and a few pairs of scissors.

The two measured out their string and after tying their knots began happily beading them. As they did Patton managed to keep up a conversation, chatting to Logan about whatever came to mind, especially about when the two would later be keeping an eye on younger teens. Logan mentioned how it was odd to be chaperoning people who were mostly just a year younger than the two, but Patton didn't at all.

But Patton also had an air to him that made him similar to a caring and silly father, with his mess ups and awful puns to how he makes sure his brother and the rest of the kids in the camp were okay. He also made sure people his own age were okay, which included Logan when it looked like he had cut himself while snipping off some string.

Logan wasn't sure how someone like Patton, who was protective over almost anyone, gets so many injuries so easily.

But he quickly relearned -after an entire school year of not seeing him- that Patton was just a caring person, he cared for any and everyone around him, whether he knew them or not. In his eyes everyone was important, when he looked at someone he seen their personality, their heart, what was important. He didn't see skintones or birthmarks or scars.

Logan wasn't sure why, but when he realized Patton's loving nature he felt his pulse quicken and an airy feeling in his stomach. It was probably because he hadn't eaten since lunch.

By the time the two finished it was five minutes until dinner, so they put on their bracelets, and while Logan wasn't a huge jewelry fan he quite liked his. Navy blue and a smokey grey, with his name spelled out in black, square beads. While it didn't go well with his current outfit he could see it going well with his other ones as a small accessory.

Patton's was very multi-colored, with glittering sky blues and cream whites with just as bright pinks and yellows. He had his name spelled out in a light brown color and had found some beads with hearts on them to put next to it.

By the time the two had finished helping everyone else out other people were filing in for dinner and the two decided to go get their food. After making sure both himself and Patton didn't grab anything he was allergic to the pair sat down next to Virgil and the two boys from earlier.

"So what'd you guys make?" Patton asked and Virgil dug out a rainbow bracelet from his jacket pocket. Patton beamed at it, "That's gorgeous! Remus, what about you?"

The curly haired boy lifted up a mismatched necklace from under his bright green shirt, and it spelled out a word Logan didn't know. Patton seemed confused too, furrowing his eyebrows and pouting his lips. "Rem, what's that say?"

There was a grin on Remus' lips, "Nothin' important. Whatcha guys doing later?"

While the change of subject was weird to Patton, as usually Remus was always eager to talk about whatever he liked, he spoke. "Me and Lo are going to the dance later."

All three teens raised their eyebrows in surprise. Even the one wearing the hat, who looked extremely bored during the conversation and was previously picking at his food. The three also looked over at Logan, who was now mixing in the dressing for his salad.

When he noticed the staring teens he looked up, confused. "What is it?"

"You and Patt are going to the dance?" The boy in the hat asked, and while his voice was mainly monotone it had hints of mischief and amusement. His eyes were no longer wide from surprise, instead slanted and paired with the sly grin forming on his face, made him look like he was planning something possibly illegal.

"Yes, are you three going?" The boy shrugged, "Maybe." That was a lie. Janus doesn't intend on going to the dance at all, he'd only go if Remus did, and he was planning on convincing him not to.

"Darn, I forgot my fork." Patton sighed, seeing that instead of grabbing a plastic fork he grabbed a spoon. "I'll be back."

Once Patton was out of earshot Remus and Janus stared directly at Logan again. "'Kay, since Vee isn't gonna say anything I will. Why the fuck are you taking Patt to the dance?"

"Remus!" Virgil smacked the back of his head. "Shut up!"

Logan's eyes widened, surprised by the sudden change of attitude. He pushed up his glasses, "Pardon?"

The brunette stabbed at his food, "Like I get it, he's nice and all and it's fun to take him places." Another jab at his food. Logan couldn't help but feel that the stabbing was aimed at him rather than the food and watched the younger as he spoke again. "But dances are stupid, people only go to grind on each other."

Logan, who was taking a drink of his water, nearly choked and quickly turned to see what was taking Patton so long. He was talking to one of the other counselors, fork in his hand as he spoke, usual smile plastered on his face.

He turned back, flushed from the very tips of his ears to his neck, and he felt as if he were on fire. He coughed, clearing his throat and fixing his glasses again, his fingers smudging the lense.

"Why in the world would you say that? How old are you anyways?" The boy didn't even look like he was in high school yet, and after saying something like that Logan was becoming even more confused.

"Fifteen. This month anyways." After stabbing his food so many times Remus finally took a bite of it. This time Janus spoke, "He just thinks you're gonna do something gross with Patt."

"Guys, please shut up." Virgil finally spoke after cringing from what Remus was saying. Janus rolled his eyes but took a sip from his juice.

"Hey guys!" Patton was finally back and Logan really wished the heat on his face would go away, he must have looked like a fool. Patton didn't seem to notice though and instead began talking about something else entirely.

Remus hadn't said anything but he had a grin on his face while he ate. When finished he nudged Janus and the two threw away their trays and wandered off somewhere. Logan probably should have told Patton that it wasn't a good idea but he was more than relieved to not have to deal with the stares from not only Remus but also Janus, who had a much more intimidating one.

Eventually Virgil left as well, saying he was going back to the cabin to take a nap. So that left the two alone, with Patton still talking and Logan listening as he thought about what Remus said. Grinding? Really? That was the weirdest thing someone had ever said to him. Especially someone younger than him.

"Lo, do you think alot of kids will show up? I haven't really heard them talking about it." Logan looked over at the other and seen he had thrown away his trash, instead fiddling with his new bracelet. When he noticed he realized that most people were done and his tray was still half full of food. Patton was waiting for him, and that made him smile as he responded.

"I'm sure plenty of people will arrive, I heard some talking about it." That was true, earlier a teen needed to get a bandage and while Logan was cleaning their cut they had mentioned to the friend that they might go. He hopes the two do go. Not because he knows them, but so Patton doesn't feel bad if barely anyone shows up.

He really hopes people do, Patton's too sweet to even picture upset.

~

Well, Patton wasn't upset.

Turns out there are a lot of queer kids in the camp, not to mention them dragging along their friends. Kids usually didn't have much to do once it got dark anyways, hiking or swimming were awful ideas for anyone, including the counselors. They could only really just visit friends in their cabins or go down to the main building and play the board games that almost always had missing pieces.

But tonight was much different, with bright and multi-colored string lights hanging from the ceiling of the building they were in earlier, and matching very well was the disco ball that someone had miraculously managed to hang about it all, Logan was pretty sure it was up with fishing wire, which didn't seem very safe. He couldn't stop staring at it.

Patton nudged him when he noticed Logan's staring, and Logan directed his eyes back to his companion, who had a grin on his face, as per usual. "Don't worry 'bout the disco ball, Lo. It's fine."

"I'm just observing it." Logan replied, glancing back over at it, a look of uneasiness on his face as he watched it spin lazily in the air.

"It's fine, Lo." Patton said as he filled a Styrofoam cup with fruit punch, handing it to Logan. Because of how many people had shown up -both counselors and kids- and for fear of anyone adding something to the drinks, Logan and Patton were on refreshment duty, ladling juice and handing out cookies. So far though nobody had really came over, so Logan didn't feel bad when he took the small cup.

Patton ladled himself some of the punch and took a sip, watching as the kids mingled, laughter floating up and around the crowd. Nearly nobody was dancing to the pop song blasting from the speakers, but a group of them, specifically the kids in the camp's upcoming musical, were actually dancing quite well to them, either that or singing. The counselors were also dancing, because of course they were, and it was fun, watching everybody interact with their friends or soon-to-be friends. And even a few more than friends.

Patton's thoughts momentarily paused at that. He glanced over at Logan, who was swirling the fruit punch around as if it were a glass of wine, not looking away from the crowd. Logan was relieved to see that there was no grinding.

The bright color of the lights were sharply showing off his features, blue shadows and red highlights, his slightly upturned nose, triangular jawline, and dark eyes. He looked beautiful, all the angles of his face were jutting out, and he had a small, content smile on his thin lips.

He must have felt Patton's staring, and turned, eyebrows raised in confusion as he glanced around, trying to find what Patton was staring at.

"What are you looking at?" He asked, and Patton chuckled, Logan still looking at him with confusion. "Patt?"

"You wanna go for a walk?"

Logan stared at Patton, then he blinked once. "Pardon?"

"Do you wanna go for a walk?" Patton repeated, tone playful at the idea. Logan's squinted his eyes, "Now? You want to go on a walk at night, when we're supposed to be handing out refreshments?"

"I can get someone else to do it." Patton was hopeful about Logan's response, he loved spending time with him and judging by the fact that he caught Logan looking at him with stars in his eyes earlier that day and nearly every time the two had interacted outside the infirmary the summer before, he felt the same. He was pretty sure Logan tried to hide it, but he really wasn't the best at it. Although Patton didn't mind of course, it was nice and he looked so pretty like that, eyes shining and happy.

"Who?"

"Just a friend, she owes me a favor anyhow. So...? Wanna go on a walk?"

Logan still looked a little suspicious about the idea, but he nodded, "Fine. We can go on a walk, although not in the woods."

"How 'bout by the lake?"

Logan smiled in agreement and Patton set his cup down. "Just give me a sec, I'll go find Ella." Patton patted Logan on the shoulder before walking off.

Logan's smile was soft as he watched Patton swim through the crowd to find his friend, and Logan heard a voice from the other side of the table.

"Simp."

Logan turned, being met with one of the boys from earlier, Janus, if he remembered correctly. Though granted, it was hard to tell in the dim lighting. He was still wearing that beanie, but his casual T-shirt was replaced with a button up instead, but he still had a sneaky expression. As if he were planning something.

"Pardon?"

"Simp." He repeated, reaching over and grabbing the ladle himself, pouring the red liquid in a small cup. He seemed just as disinterested as earlier, and Logan vaguely wondered if he was ever interested in anything.

"No, I heard you. Just... what is that?"

Janus raised an eyebrow, "You don't know what that is?" Logan shook his head.

Janus rolled his eyes, "Aren't you like, twenty five?" Logan raised his eyebrows in surprise, Janus had to be joking. "I'm eighteen."

"That's sadder. But a simp is a person who really likes someone and does stupid things for them because of it. Aka, you."

"I am no-"

"Hey Lo!" Patton popped up and waved at Janus, smile on his face. Janus waved back, the ghost of a smile on his own face, and Logan turned to Patton, who did the same.

"Lo, would you mind if we stop by my cabin? I need to get my cardigan." Logan shook his head, "Not at all. I wouldn't want you to get cold."

Janus, with a knowing look, side-eyed Logan, who frowned. He just wanted to make sure Patton didn't feel uncomfortable in the cold, and it wasn't like Logan had his own jacket to lend him. If he did he would have just given that to him, but that's just what friends do.

"Right, you guys have fun." Janus picked up the Styrofoam cup from the table as a woman with ginger hair came over, smile on her face.

"Ella, there you are! C'mon Lo, we can go now." Patton looped his arm in Logan's and tugged him along, his tone cheerful. Logan followed behind, his footsteps just slightly behind for a moment until the pair fell in a rhythm.

By the time Patton had his cardigan and the two were walking by the lake, the moon was completely up, full and glowing and absolutely ethereal. It shined down on them as they slowly walked the length of the lake, enough light to see exactly where they were going. Patton's arm was still looped through Logan's, but he tried not to think about the warmth of it there, about how the soft wool brushed against his arm, warming the area.

"It's nice out," Patton said softly. Everything around them was quiet, the songs of the party long gone and no birds were singing. And other than the crickets there was no other real noise.

"It is." Logan agreed with a nod, tone mirroring Patton's as his foot crunched a stick.

Patton had a small smile on his face and turned to look at Logan. There was a noise from the bushes.

"What's that?" Logan stopped dead in his tracks and Patton turned to look at the bush, face curious as he continued walking.

"Patton, don't go over there, you'll get rabies again." Logan watched as Patton walked over to the bush.

"I got my shots." Patton replied, looking over it and at whatever animal was there. His curious face turned into one of glee, and he gestured for Logan to come over.

Logan, while hesitant, did so. He looked over and seen it was just a white duck, asleep with it's head backwards and resting on it's back. Logan's face softened into a smile and Patton, still grinning, looped his arm in Logan's once again.

"And you were scared. What'd you think it was, a werewolf?" Patton teased, tone light and full of no malice whatsoever as they resumed walking. Logan just rolled his eyes.

"I wasn't scared and werewolves aren't real." Logan said matter-of-factly, but Patton just shrugged. "Better not let the werewolves hear that."

Logan glanced at him, a slightly amused look on his face. "Hypothetically, if there were any supernatural creatures out here, there would be sirens."

"And why's that?" Patton asked, looking down at the dark water of the lake, watching the ripples from the wind. He wrapped his cardigan tighter around himself, and the soft fabric once again brushed against Logan's arm.

"Well sirens are known to live by water. They sing and lure people in, and most stories on them seem to take place at night. They can be seen at anytime though, just usually by the water." Patton nodded as he listened, and when Logan was done he looked back at him. "Are you an expert on sirens then?"

"No, but when I was fifteen I enjoyed reading about Greek mythology, and I remember nearly I everything I read." Patton smiled, thinking about Logan when he was younger, books about different Greek gods and goddesses stacked around him, and the one in his hands about sirens.

"Yeah? Did you ever read about the constellations they had?" Logan nodded, "Yes, I read about that when I was eleven. My teacher even let me have a book about them when she was retiring. It's still on my bookshelf."

That was quite possibly the most endearing thing Patton had ever heard, and leaned his head against Logan's shoulder, who was surprised by it. He looked over at Patton, who was clueless to the way Logan's heart throbbed at the closeness, and was looking at the dark sky.

"Are there any constellations tonight?" Patton asked, tone smitten. Maybe he likes Logan more than a friend. And maybe he doesn't really mind that.

"Huh?" Logan was too busy thinking about how Patton's wavy locks were brushing up against his neck and jaw, and were just as soft as his cardigan, which was still warm on his arm.

"Constellations. Are there any out tonight?" Logan looked up, searching for any constellations. Although it was hard with the bright moon, he spotted a few.

"Well there's Andromeda, the chained maiden." Logan pointed up at a few stars, and Patton looked up as well, seeing the cluster of stars.

"Why's she chained?" Patton asked softly, and Logan sighed wistfully as he thought. "Well Andromeda had an awful mother, the queen Cassiopeia, if my memory serves me correct, and she always boasted about how she was more beautiful than the Nereids, who were the fifty daughters of the sea."

"Like in Snow White?" Logan thought for a moment but nodded. "Yes, I suppose. But anyway, Poseidon, angered by what she said, sent a flood and a sea monster to the kingdom. Andromeda's father, the king, was told to chain Andromeda to a rock as a sacrifice to the monster. Although Perseus, flying on his winged sandals after defeating Medusa-"

"I like Medusa." Logan paused, looking over at Patton, who just seemed to process that he interrupted, flushed in embarrassment. "Oh, sorry. I interrupted you, huh?"

"No, it's fine, I like Medusa too. Perseus didn't though." Patton giggled and nudged Logan gently, "Go ahead, continue."

"Alright. Well Perseus, seeing that Andromeda was in danger, stopped because he had fallen in love with her. Which I've always found odd, because he really didn't know her. He just seen her from the sky."

Patton laughed, a loud, hearty one that made something in Logan's stomach flutter around. "I don't get that either. It's weird."

Logan nodded in agreement, "Well she didn't see anything wrong with it. But Perseus said if she married him he would save her, and she agreed. So Perseus used the magical sword he used to kill Medusa to kill the monster, and they got married. I believe they also had seven sons too, but I'm not sure."

Patton nodded thoughtfully against Logan's shoulder, pausing his steps. When Logan realized he stopped walking he stopped himself, and looked at Patton with a worried face. "Patton?"

"Do you think they were happy? Andromeda and Perseus?"

Logan mulled it over, but eventually he just shrugged. "I hope so. They did get married quite soon, and Perseus fell in love even quicker. But the idea that they were happy is nice. But it's just a story anyways." Patton shrugged too, "Yeah, I guess. I just like thinking about that stuff."

"Love?"

Patton looked up, the moon reflecting in his blue eyes. "Happiness."

Logan felt a lump in his throat looking down at Patton, their slight height difference coming into play. Just a mere inch, but it made Logan grateful that he could so easily see the other's face. Happy, round eyes and equally round glasses, his sandy brown hair just barely covering the lenses. His chubby face that Logan longed to hold gently, and his soft-looking and plump, pink, lips. Lips that Logan wanted to feel on his own, he wanted to see if they really were as soft as they looked, wanted to taste the last thing Patton ate on them. He wanted Patton as close as humanly possible.

He cleared his throat, turning towards the lake, but he felt something warm under his jaw. He looked back and realized that something was one of Patton's well-manicured hands. Soft, warm, and grounding against his cool skin.

He was sure his lungs were completely deprived of air, and Patton felt the same. Neither said a word.

Patton was staring directly at Logan's dark brown eyes, which he noticed were staring at Patton's lips. He felt his cheeks turn pink and pulse quicken at the observation.

"Logan?"

Logan hummed, a noncommittal noise that was drastically different than his usually colorful vocabulary. He currently couldn't even think of any words to describe how he felt, to describe how much he wanted to lean over and get rid of the gap in between them.

"Can I-"

Logan surged forward and closed the gap. Patton's words were lost in his throat, nothing more than a thought as his other hand made its way on the other side of Logan's neck, under his jawline. He felt the pulse there jump as he kissed back. His cheeks felt as if they were on fire, stomach performing backflips and heart lurching. But it all felt amazing, Logan's thin lips, Logan's cool skin, Logan's pulse under his fingertips in the most reassuring way ever. Simply just Logan.

Speaking of which, Logan was right. Patton's lips were soft. Softer than cotton candy, and nearly just as sweet, pressed against his own just how he always wanted. Wait, has he always wanted this? He wasn't sure. Last summer he met a clumsy and charming camp counselor, and that same clumsy and charming camp counselor was currently holding and kissing him by a lake during a full moon. His head nearly felt dizzy, and a warm, beautiful fuzziness was spreading all throughout his body.

When the two did pull away, which nearly took three minutes, they were slightly out of breath, blushing, and smiling like idiots.

"I-"

Logan was cut off by Patton practically tackling him down in another kiss, and before he knew it his back was on the grass and Patton was atop of him, lips back on Logan's.

A surprised squeak emitted from Logan and Patton laughed, pulling away with a wide and glowing smile. Logan felt absolutely smitten, and he looked the part too, body entirely relaxed, eyes that practically had hearts in them, and a pink tinted face. Patton could look at him that way for the rest of his life. Was that thought a bit too soon? Probably, but it was alright. It's not like anyone could read them.

"Sorry."

"For what, exactly? Kissing me? Reducing me to nothing? Making me feel as if I'm on fire? Because I loved that, it was the greatest thing I've ever experienced." Logan's voice was so full of love it was music to Patton's ears.

"For tackling you."

"Oh. Well what if I said I liked that too?"

Patton grinned, "You're silly. And amazing. And so pretty, I should kiss you again."

"You should." Logan agreed, slightly nodding while he did so.

Patton leaned forward, and Logan met him in the middle.

More Logicality, because that seems to be all I can write at the moment. Sorry for the long chapter, but I'm pretty proud of that lake scene, so there's that.

Hope you enjoyed reading, because I enjoyed writing it. All I ever write is boring teen and human aus, so it was fun to write something in a different setting. I'm also thinking about doing a vampire au, but I'm not totally sure on the overall plot of it.

Also, Janus calling Logan a simp is so in character, you can't convince me otherwise. Logan will be looking at Patton lovingly and Janus will just shout it at him. And if you're curious about what Remus' necklace said, it spells out "bussy blaster" because that's just how he is.

Anyways,

Bi~❤💛💚💙💜
