TW: Gay shit and stupid people

{Third Person POV}

Logan drummed his fingers on his car's steering wheel, nervous as a familiar figure approached the car's passenger seat, opening the door. "Hey, Lo!" Patton shut the car door and began putting on his seatbelt as Logan continued staring straight ahead, trying to not let his anxiety show as it slowly creeped up.

"Lo?" Logan turned to Patton, who had a smile on his round face. He was still in his work attire, a white apron over his emerald green work shirt, name embroidered in a light green on his chest. He had a confused look paired with his smile, as usually Logan greeted him with his calm, sweet smile and a Hello Patton. Or a How was work? or once in a blue moon, I got you something.

"You good, Lo? Something seems different." Logan shook his head, "No, I'm fine. I just..." He gently nawed at his lip, something he knew he shouldn't do and scolded his friends for. He looked to the left too, as looking directly in Patton's eyes could be overwhelming. Not because he was intimidating, but because whenever he looked in those beautiful blue eyes he wanted to spill all his secrets. Tell him every little thing he knew.

"You just... what?" Patton was still more confused than ever, smile shrinking once he noticed how apprehensive the other was about... something. Patton didn't know what.

"I was just wondering if, perhaps, you'd like to... come over to my apartment for dinner Friday? You don't have to though-" Logan cut himself off once he seen Patton's wide, crooked smile, showing his dimples and the little creases by his eyes. He didn't look uncomfortable at the idea, or annoyed, or disgusted, he looked... happy. Excited.

Logan didn't even realize he was holding his breath until he let it out, a deep, relieved sigh as Patton responded. "Lo I would love to have dinner with you! Do I need to bring anything? Oh! Do I need to dress up?" Logan smiled at Patton's excitement, his anxiety melting away as he realized that this was Patton, who could never hurt any of his friends purposely. Patton, who barely even understood the word adultery meant, who was the sweetest person Logan had ever met.

Not to mention how happy Logan was! He can't believe Patton agreed to have this date with him, he was scared that he didn't return his feelings... but now he's more than happy. He's smiling and can feel a blush creeping up to his cheeks, rather than the anxiety he felt before.

"Well you don't need to bring anything Patton, I'm treating you to this dinner, and yes this is a more sophisticated dinner than when we have dinner with Roman and Virgil. Though it's still casual, I believe the term is smart casual." Patton nodded, making mental notes as Logan spoke. Logan smiled at this, he was adorable when he was focused on something. You could practically see the cogs in his head turning.

"Okay... oh, but one more question." Patton said as he pulled out his phone, seemingly to put the date in his calendar. "What is it?" Logan asked as he started the car, the engine coming to life and the radio turning on from when Logan let Roman borrow it.

"What time should I come over?"

Logan thought. "Come over at six thirty."

~

Logan had decided to make marry me chicken for dinner, already dropping subtle hints to Patton via food. With it was a side of roasted asparagus with white wine or pomegranate juice, as he knew Patton has never drank alcohol, despite being thirty and going to bars all the time with his friends, though that was usually as a designated driver. That was fine though, Logan didn't care what Patton drank.

The chicken had taken around twenty minutes and while he was cooking the asparagus he heard a knock on his apartment door. He recognized it immediately as Patton's, which, yes, sounded weird but Patton knocked this certain tune that was was similar to the opening of Jingle Bell Rock that nobody else he knew did.

He hadn't realized how much time had went by and looked at the clock, where he seen it was six thirty. So he moved the cooked asparagus onto some plates and went over to the door, straightening the tie he was wearing before opening the door.

He was met with Patton smiling at him, a small bouquet of flowers in his hand and in front of him. They appeared to be lilies. A soft pink and beautiful in their matching pink cellophone paper as Patton held the bouquet towards Logan, walking inside.

"I know you said not to bring anything but I asked Ro and he said you'd like these." He glanced around the apartment, where some lush and green plants were in pots by the windows, showing that the sun was beginning to go down. "I wasn't sure if the kind of flowers would matter." He flashed a smile at Logan as Logan took the flowers, holding them close to to left side of his chest, where his heart was beating faster than humanly possible.

It wasn't just the flowers though, or the smile, it was the outfit Patton was in. Patton usually dressed very casually, with T-shirts or polo shirts and acid-washed jeans. But now he was wearing a light blue polo shirt that he's definitely seen Patton wear before, a pair of khaki pants, and a not-too-white blazer. He looked nice, better than nice, actually. He looked... ethereal. Almost angelic, and Logan's bright kitchen lights shining down on him really helped that thought.

Patton seemed to like Logan's outfit better though and after a quick scan up and down Logan's body he smiled. "You look nice Lo." Logan felt himself blush down and at his neck, blooming from his cheeks and down. It wasn't a strange outfit for Logan, a white button-up, Egyption blue tie, and dark blue, nearly black, sweater over it to tie the outfit all together. When thinking this dinner over he didn't want it to be too fancy to the point Patton was uncomfortable, and not too casual that he felt out of place. He's very happy about the middle ground he found because Patton looked amazing.

"Thank you, you look... astonishing." Patton smiled, a pink blush on the tips of his ears that was hidden by sandy blond waves. He cleared his throat, fixing his silver, circular glasses. "So... What're we having for dinner?"

Logan snapped out of his little lovesick expression and put on a welcoming smile. "We're having marry me chicken and roasted asparagus. There's also some white wine but I have pomegranate juice instead." Logan said as he walked into the kitchen, looking around for a vase to put the lilies in.

Patton smiled, "I'll take the juice. But you can put it in a wine glass." He added with a chuckle and Logan felt his heartbeat accelerate at the noise.

Sure, he's heard Patton's laugh before, plenty of times at that, as Patton was always telling jokes and laughing at them, whether they were good or not. But each time Logan would feel his heart beat just a little faster when he heard that light, joyful laugh of his. He tried not not show that fondness though and continued looking for a vase, finding a glass one under the sink.

"Thank you for the flowers, they're beautiful." Not as much as you. He wanted to add, but he didn't want to make Patton uncomfortable. Sure, they've known each other for years, but this was their first date and he didn't know what Patton was okay with regarding romance.

Patton rubbed the back of his neck, slightly embarrassed. "Yeah... that was Ro's idea. I knew I wanted to bring you flowers but I just didn't know what kind. He said lilies." Logan smiled down at the bouquet as he removed them from the cellophone paper and put them into the now water-filled vase. It doesn't matter if Roman gave him the idea, Patton still went through with it and that was enough.

"Thank you though, they're beautiful." Patton didn't know what to say. He was scared that Logan wouldn't like them, as Roman really wasn't good at figuring out what Logan liked, but he seemed to absolutely adore them. He looked at them with this fond look that Patton felt he could only dream about having directed at him. But this dinner was as friends.

Well, that's what Patton had convinced himself. Really the whole point of inviting Patton to his apartment was for a date, that's why Logan made marry me chicken, but Patton truly believed that Logan just wanted to be nice and have a warm, home-cooked meal with a friend of his.

So he waited calmly as Logan took the chicken out of the oven, telling Patton to go ahead and sit in the dining room while Logan prepared everything. Though the dining room was really just a table not far from the kitchen, but Patton still sat down and watched as Logan transferred the chicken to the plates with asparagus already on them. He also poured the two's drinks and first brought those to the table, putting a wine glass with a dark liquid in front of Patton while a much lighter one went in Logan's spot, directly across from Patton.

He then brought the plates and Patton looked at his with an ecstatic smile on his face. Both at the fact that Logan had made him something that must have taken so long and the fact that he hadn't eaten since noon and was really hungry. There was already forks and knives on the table but Patton waited until Logan sat down to start cutting his chicken, and by the time he did the lights were dimmed and a few scented candles were lit. They smelled like vanilla cookies and Patton loved the very soft ambient Logan had set up. It was almost like he was trying to be... romantic.

No. Patton needs to stop thinking that, Logan is just being nice. He must have noticed that Patton was a little more stressed than usual and decided he needed a nice meal with a friend to cool off. There's nothing romantic about this. It's all platonic.

"You may want to be careful with the chicken, it's extremely hot." Logan could name another thing in the room that was extremely hot.

He didn't say anything though and instead began eating his asparagus, watching as Patton continued cutting his chicken into small cubes. Patton then stared intently at the chicken before looking up at Logan. "Lo, would you judge me if I said I wanna try ketchup with this chicken?"

Logan shot a confused look Patton's way as he took a sip from his wine. Dark eyebrows furrowed up as he set his wine glass back down on the wooden table, "Pardon?" Patton shrugged carelessly, "I like ketchup."

"Well if it's the tomato flavor you like there's sun dried tomatoes on it. I'd recommend trying it how it is first." Patton looked down at the chicken again before shrugging, "Alright, I can do that." He stabbed a piece with his fork and blew on it, taking a bite of the slightly cooled down chicken.

As he chewed Logan was glancing up at him with anticipation on his face, scared of what Patton would think about his cooking and whether or not he would like it. But Patton was too busy thinking about how delicious it was, he had only had Logan's cooking a handful of times and he always forgot just how good he was at it.

Logan watched as Patton smiled, his pretty pink lips curling in the best possible way as he took a drink of his juice. He swallowed and looked up at Logan, smile still on his face. "Lo this is delicious! I can't believe you're such a good cook, you should become a professional chef!" Logan flushed at the praise and averted his eyes down towards his plate, where his own chicken remained uncut.

"Um- thank you. I'm glad you like it." Patton nodded, "I do, but I still wanna try it with ketchup. Do you have any?" Logan nodded and before Patton could get up Logan had already stood up and was walking over to the refrigerator. He came back and put the Heinz bottle on Patton's side of the table before sitting back down, picking up his knife and fork to cut his own chicken.

"I could've gotten it myself, Lo. But thank you." Patton grabbed the ketchup and Logan internally cringed as he watched him pour it on his plate and dip a piece of chicken into the ketchup. But Patton's happy little smile as he ate made Logan look pass that. He should have expected Patton to want ketchup anyways, he ate it with nearly everything.

"So Patton, how was your day?" Logan asked before taking another sip of his wine, watching as Patton thought about what happened that day, thoughtfully chewing as he did. "Well I went to work, waited a few tables, took my break, and then I got to help out with a kiddos birthday. Oh, he was so excited. He was only a little tot but goodness he was adorable! Had a little birthday sash and a little cupcake."

Patton continued gushing about the little boy, who was turning two and was ecstatic when the staff at the restaurant began singing for him. Patton said that it absolutely warmed his heart to such a happy kid. Once he was done he smiled nervously, looking down at his plate. "Sorry, I kinda ranted, huh? I just- I really want a kid when I get married. You know I'm an only child and I never really got to be around little babies like him. I'd love to see their first steps and words and all that."

Logan, with a completely smitten smile on his face, couldn't help thinking about how much he'd love to raise a kid with Patton. Get married to him, move out of their apartments and into a nice house and adopt a baby. And maybe another. A boy and a girl that the two could raise as their own and love with all of their hearts. It could be perfect, an amazing future with each other.

"But enough about my day, how was yours?" Logan blinked a couple times before straightening his posture, which had began to slump slightly while he dreamily thought about him and Patton's future family. He cleared his throat as he thought back.

"Well I was called down to help a boy with some burns at around nine thirty, then diagnosed a woman with the flu. I had lunch and then went down to the hospital to help with gallbladder surgery. So it was a very uneventful day." Patton stared at Logan with disbelief, not quite sure what to say as Logan took a bite of his food.

"Well that's way more eventful than my day. You got to help someone with surgery and I just gave people their lunches. Life of a P.A., huh?" Logan shrugged, "I suppose I'm just used to it by now. I've only had this job for a year now but I suppose I've just grown numb to these kind of things." Patton smiled, "Well you still like doing it, right?"

"Well of course I do. Do you like yours?" Patton shrugged, "Kinda. It's supposed to be temporary but it's been "temporary" for a few years now." He was now sliding his food around on his plate, trying to focus on something else. "I started it in college and now that I've graduated it's a little hard to find a job. Guess not many vet clinics are hiring."

You see, Patton is trying to be a veterinary technician and had recently graduated, ready to search for jobs. The only problem? No one in their area was hiring a veterinary technician. So he was stuck as a waiter while all of his friends had their dream jobs. It was... demeaning. All the hard work only to still be waiting tables.

"Well I'm sure you'll find another job. You're extremely hardworking and kind, and so, so smart. You're so hopeful too, and while I think that simply hoping for what you want doesn't always help I know that you have worked hard for your degree, and you deserve to have your dream job." Logan hadn't realized that he was ranting until he seen the surprised look on Patton's face. Eyebrows raised and mouth just a little open, and... were his eyes glassy? No, Logan must be seeing things. He must need new glasses.

"I- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rant. I just want you to love your job."

I love you. Patton thought faintly, trying to not let his emotions overwhlem him as he smiled, a small one with no teeth, yet still showing it's sincerity. He sniffled a bit, "Thank you Logan."

"It's true."

The two continued their dinner happily, taking turns talking and swooning at whatever the other had said. Patton would mention two customers at work and how it was their anniversary and Logan would daydream about having his own anniversary with Patton someday. Logan would mention how he checked for a patient's symptoms and Patton would daydream about Logan using those gentle hands to hold him.

Unfortunately, despite that fact that Logan had tried to show as much as possible how much he cared, Patton still thought that this was platonic. That there was no way that the candles, the dim lighting, the made from scratch meal, and the flowers sitting on the kitchen counter were romantic. Nope, this was just things friends do. Friendly, nice things that could never be seen as a date.

Unless you were Logan of course. Because he had done as much research as possible on how to make this soft and romantic ambient. With nice smelling candles and finding the perfect dim lighting for his apartment, he though he did pretty good. The two's ideas were extremely contradicting.

Eventually the two finished and Logan took their dishes to the kitchen, soaking them in the sink as he opened the refrigerator to put up the ketchup and get out a special little treat for the two. He set it on the counter and got out two more plates, though much smaller.

"Patton?" He called, turning to look at the other. Patton looked up from where he was checking his notifications on his phone, "Yes?"

"Do you have room for dessert? I made strawberry pie." Patton grinned, "Lo I always have room for dessert. Do you have whipped cream?" Logan held up the spray can of whipped cream, a matching smile on his face. "Why of course I do."

Logan sliced the pie and plated them, spraying little peaks of whipped cream on top. Then he got out a strawberry and cut it to make two hearts, putting them on top of each slice. Yes, this was extremely cheesy and out of character for Logan, but Patton made him want to do things like this. Make little anatomically incorrect hearts for him and just show how much he cared for him.

He got some forks and went back to the table, setting them down. He noticed that Patton's glass was nearly empty and pointed at it. "Patt, do you need more?" Patton looked up from where he was putting his phone away and at Logan. "Yes, but I can get it-"

"No, I can. Just stay right there." Logan picked up the glass and picked up his own, going to refill them.

Patton smiled, a lovesick one at the fact that Logan was just being so cute today. With his little rants and acts of kindness and God, even his hair looked cute today. Dark brown strands parted to the right and away from his face with just a little product. But once in awhile it would get in his face and he would quietly huff as he tucked it away, yet his hair was too short to go behind his ear and it would just go back.

He couldn't help it though! He was just so... adorable. And smart, and nice, and he could get so heated when talking about his interests that Patton felt like he should be getting excited by it.

Logan came back with the two's drinks and sat down, sliding Patton's over to him. "Patton I have something to tell you." Patton looked Logan directly in the eye, hearing the serious edge in his tone. But there was something else there. Anxiety. Threading through his sentence and his words as he spoke.

"What is it Lo?"

This was it. It was time. He had to take this leap and tell Patton. Tell him that he wanted this to be a normal occurrence, romantic dinners and amusing conversations where they gave each other loving looks and glances at each other's lips.

"I-"

~Let's gather 'round the campfire and sing our campfire song~

Patton blushed right up to his ears at his ring tone and pulled out his phone, seeing it was his other friend, Roman. He glanced at Logan with a nervous look, "It's Ro."

"Go ahead and answer, I can wait."

Patton flashed him a smile and answered, putting his ear to his phone. "Hey Ro! What's up?"

"Hey Patty! Vee's phone died and he wanted to know when your guys' date was over, he left his laptop in his room and has some work to do. So, y'know... speed up your date I guess." Patton felt his face grow hotter at what his friend said and he turned away from where he was looking at Logan. "Roman, it's not a date! Lo and I are just friends."

Logan nearly spat out his wine, looking at Patton for any evidence of a joke. Yet there was none there. He looked completely serious.

But, but he agreed to the dinner date! He didn't say anything about the lighting or the heart shaped strawberry or the candles! Surely he must have noticed Logan's feelings.

Right? He noticed and returned them, right? Or... or was this all a façade? A well placed trick to embarrass Logan, make him shrink in on himself and hide all of these new, beautiful feelings that gave him so much serotonin it had to be deadly. Surely Patton wasn't that cruel, he'd never seen him hurt anyone.

Was it not obvious enough that this was a date? Were all of those glances really just that? A glance? To show that he was paying attention and nothing else? Was Logan too far gone to not realize it?

"Sorry 'bout that Lo! I guess Vee left his laptop here and was wondering when I was leaving. Anywho, what were you gonna say?" Patton had that smile on his face, that caring, friendly one that Logan had misinterpreted as romantic interest.

"It was nothing." He looked down at his pie, at the small strawberry heart he made. He cut it in half as he took a bite. Patton raised a brow, "You sure? It seemed pretty serious." Logan hummed in response as he chewed, though the pie tasted bland to him.

Patton took a bite though and once again gushed over how good it was. How Logan should open a restaurant and sell this food. It didn't make Logan as happy now, but he could still feel his cheeks turning pink and a small smile was on his face.

"Thank you Patton. You're too kind."

"It's the truth Lo."

~

The next day was Saturday, aka, Logan's day off, aka, a day to mope around instead of doing any of the productive things he had planned. He stayed in his pyjamas and only had a cup of coffee and a slice of leftover pie for breakfast. Then he went back to bed, still tired.

Last night's dinner continued until the two finished their drinks, when Patton looked at the time and said that he had to go. Logan, while sad, still wanted to be nice, he could never be mad at Patton. Especially when he didn't even do anything, it wasn't his fault Logan wasn't good at picking up social cues. So he walked Patton downstairs and outside his apartment building, and instead of the kiss he was hoping he would get he got a Goodnight Lo, sleep well before Patton got in his car and drove away.

Once he had put away the leftovers Logan changed, took an extremely hot shower, and went to bed. Then he cried. Hard. Quite loudly too, but it was into his pillow and Virgil didn't notice once he got home. He cried and cried and cried until he fell asleep, glasses still on when he did.

Currently though it was six P.M. and he was reading, trying not to think about the unrequited love he had with his best friend. But as he read he felt himself freezing up all his emotions again.

You see, Logan was never good at identifying his feelings. He just wasn't good at it, and he never noticed anybody elses either. He couldn't pick up on hints and was awful at it until he met Patton.

He met Patton through a friend and after the two got closer their opposite attitudes really started shining through. Patton was perfectly in touch with his feelings, he could describe how and what he was feeling and could easily pick up on someone's social cues. The two were polar opposites, but Logan didn't care. Because he learned from Patton. Patton helped him understand his feelings better helped him find the right words. He thawed him out.

And now they were freezing right back up. Hiding away once again as he slowly felt himself get more and more frigid. Really, he just never learns, does he?

Logan sighed, bookmarking and shutting his book as he stood up off his bed. He needed a drink. And maybe a snack too.

He walked into the kitchen and seen Virgil and his boyfriend, Roman, making out gently with Roman sitting on the counter Logan had finished cleaning only minutes ago while Virgil leaned forward to kiss him. Seeing it made Logan want to simultaneously cry and cringe, because gross, the two were kissing on the clean counters. But also because he couldn't have that. He could never kiss Patton.

He swiftly walked over and went by Virgil, who hadn't even noticed Logan walked in. Neither of them did, they had their eyes shut as they whispered compliments to each other between kisses. He opened the refrigerator and grabbed a bottle of water and the pie tin, where two slices remained.

He went over to where Roman was and moved his lower leg away from where it was dangling right in front of the drawer with all the silverware in it. Only then did they notice Logan's presence. Roman looked down as Logan grabbed a fork and Virgil turned as he walked back to his room, silent as he did.

The two watched as Logan shut his bedroom door and then glanced at each other, confusion and concern written all over their faces. They stared at the closed bedroom door before Virgil spoke, tone showing off his concern.

"He took food to his room."

"He took pie to his room."

Virgil backed away from the counter and Roman hopped off, still gawking at the wooden door that remained shut. "What's wrong with him?" Virgil shrugged, "I dunno. When came home last night and he was in his room, I checked up on him and he was buried under his blankets. Figured he was asleep. Everything seemed normal." Little did Virgil know that he walked in right before Logan broke down crying, and if he stayed a little while longer he would have seen the usually put together man fall apart.

"Did Patt do something to him?" Virgil scoffed, rolling his eyes and looking at his boyfriend as if he were stupid. "Ro, we're talking about Patt. He'd never hurt a fly." Roman nodded, "Well yeah, but he's brutally honest too."

"I'll just talk to Lo." Roman watched as Virgil walked over and knocked on Logan's door, listening for a response. There was a muffled reply and Virgil opened the door, shutting it behind him.

Logan was sitting up in his bed, sliding some strawberry pie around the pie tin with a fork, an opened bottle of water on his bedside table. On it was also the lilies Patton gave him, still in their vase and still as beautiful as ever. His clothes from the previous night were in a pile on his floor instead on in the laundry basket he always put his dirty clothes in. Virgil was also pretty sure that Logan's T-shirt was inside out. Needless to say that Logan was a mess.

"Alright, what's wrong?" He asked, leaning against the closed door, hands in his jacket pockets. Logan sighed, putting his fork down and pushing the pie tin away, "I no longer want to have feelings anymore."

Virgil's eyebrows furrowed up in sympathy and he had this look in his dark eyes that showed he understood how Logan felt. Understood why he was completely different now and was still in bed, when any other time he would be up and about.

Virgil walked over and sat at the foot of the bed, nodding slowly. "Me too. But they're not that bad."

"Yes they are. They made me believe in something that was false. They made me think irrationally and act out, I no longer want them." Logan brought his knees to his chest and looked similar to a pouting child, despite him being a fully grown man.

"Why's that?" Logan finally looked up at Virgil, eyes glossy as he began tearing up. Virgil's eyes widened in slight panic, he's never seen Logan cry, but he could visibly see tears pooling up in the corners of his eyes. "Because this hurts. I love him and he doesn't return those feelings. And I'm not even mad at him! I'm just... I-" Logan cut himself off, taking a long, shaky inhale before exhaling. He could hear his voice breaking, hear the raw emotion seeping through his words.

He wiped at his eyes and Virgil stood up, walked over, and gave Logan the biggest hug he could. Logan returned it, putting his knees down and away from his chest as he did, face in Virgil's black jacket as he cried. Virgil didn't mind though, he wanted to help his friend as well as he could and if that meant getting his salty tears and snot on his jacket that was okay. His clothes could be washed and okay again in less than a day, Logan couldn't.

After the warm embrace Logan sighed again, leaning against his bedroom wall, exhausted. Crying was so tiring, especially when you do it all day. He noticed the mess he made on Virgil's jacket and crinkled his nose in disgust, "Did I do that? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

"It's fine Lo, I can clean it." Logan sniffled, wiping his puffy eyes and smudging his glasses. Another sigh.

"I'm tired."

Virgil smiled and picked up the pie tin as he stood up, "Go ahead and sleep. I'll talk to you tomorrow."

~

Logan didn't work on Sundays either, nobody in his friend group did, so Logan had woken up to pancakes and coffee with a side of gentle interrogation from Virgil on why he was so angsty the day before. So Logan re-explained the date, what he made for it, and the setting he created for it. It was as romantic as possible yet Patton still said it was platonic. That they were just friends.

Logan explained this sadness that he harbored with his love and that there was no hope now. That it was set in stone. He explained how he thought he picked up on what he believed were romantic glances and gestures. But he interpreted it all wrong.

Except he didn't, and Virgil knew very well that he didn't. Because he was the one who got to listen to Patton gush about the invite, he got to listen to him panic about whatever "smart casual" was, and he got to listen to Patton gush via phone call about the dinner, about how good it was and how cute Logan was during the entire thing. Now he had to help the emotionally constipated man across the table.

He sighed, rubbing his temples. It was too early for this. "Lo, that's not true."

Logan glared at him from over the rim of his mug, "Of course it is. Patton said it right in front of me." Virgil shook his head, "No, he was lying." Logan scoffed, "Virgil please, Patton never lies."

"Then tell me why the guy loves you so much! Why does he always talk about how cute he thinks you are? I swear, if I had a dollar for every time he talked about just your eyes I'd be a millionaire." Virgil rolled his eyes, a well-meaning smile as he looked over at Logan. "Lo, the guy loves you more than life itself. It's annoying, really."

"Then why did he say that?" Virgil shrugged as he stood up. "Guess he's scared. Why don't you just talk to him?" Logan glared over at him, unimpressed as Virgil picked up their empty plates.

"I vaguely remember telling you something like that a few years ago." Logan said, referring to when Virgil first discovered his little crush on Roman. It was annoying to listen to him rant about it, but now the tables have been turned.

"Shut it and call him."

Logan rolled his eyes but stood up to go call Patton, shutting his bedroom door. He picked up his phone from where it was on his bed and scrolled through his contacts until he found a familiar one with a heart next to it. He pressed it and put his phone up to his ear, listening as it rang.

After a few rings Logan heard a peppy voice answer. "Good morning Lo!" Logan smiled, "Good morning Patton, I have a question." There was some shuffling, it sounded like clothes. "'Kay, what's up?"

"Have you had breakfast? I'd like to take you out to eat." Despite Logan not being able to see it Patton was blushing on the other side of the phone. Face red as he stood in the middle of his room, the outfit he was picking out in his arms as he smiled down at his phone, which was on his bed and on speaker.

"Oh- Well I haven't had anything yet, but I can meet you." Logan still had a smile on his face. "Well there is a lovely diner on my block, do you know where it is?" "Oh yeah! The family one?"

"Yes. I'll meet you there in fifteen minutes?"

"Sounds good!"

Logan hung up and heard a voice from his doorway, where he seen his door was now wide open.

"You're a coward, Lo." Virgil said from where he was leaning against the doorway, arms crossed.

"Yes, well this is something you say face-to-face rather than over the phone." Virgil rolled his eyes, turning around. "Right, keep telling yourself that." He walked out and Logan shut the door behind him.

~

Logan got to the diner first and only ordered a drink, he already ate but assumed he should at least get a drink. It'd help distract him.

Patton arrived not long after, in light blue, acid-washed jeans and a white T-shirt with Van Gough's Starry Night on the chest. He sat down on one side of the booth with a smile and Logan slid one of the menus over to him.

"Thanks for inviting me Lo! Do you know what you're getting?" Patton opened up the menu and scanned the breakfast options as he spoke and Logan shook his head. "I already ate. Virgil made breakfast."

"Really? Vee never cooks. Only for special occasions." Logan nodded, "Yes, I suppose this was a special occasion. He wanted to have an important conversation this morning."

"Really? What was it?" Patton looked up from the menu with a curious look in his wide, sparkling eyes. "I'll tell you once you have your food." Logan said before taking a sip of his drink. Another cup of coffee, now he was going to be up all night.

Patton agreed and soon after ordered his food. The two spoke happily while they waited, even Logan, who still had this lingering feeling of doubt, even after hearing Virgil explain how much Patton talked about him. It still stayed, but Patton's smiles and laughs reassured him more than anything.

Then Patton's food arrived. Blueberry waffles with scrambled eggs and sausage links, still hot as it sat in front of him. He took his fork and knife and sliced up his waffles as Logan watched, anxiety present in him as he tapped his foot under the table.

Patton took a bite and chewed before looking up at Logan. "So you gonna tell me 'bout you and Vee's talk this morning?"

Logan cleared his throat, trying to shake off that anxiety as he did. He looked up at Patton, who was happily holding eye contact with him, encouraging smile on his face. God, Patton was always so happy, it was overwhelming to be around. In the best way possible of course. But even when Patton was upset it made Logan feel like he could help Patton through everything, like the two could get through anything if they supported each other enough.

"It was about our dinner on Friday. You see, just before Roman called you I was going to tell you that... well, that I love you Patton." Patton paused from where he was about to take another bite of waffle, frozen as he watched Logan look down at the table.

"I know that's probably overwhelming, hearing your friend say that they love you, but it's true. I've loved you for so long, I don't even know when it started, when I noticed the little things about you. When I noticed that little sparkle in your eyes once you get passionate about what you're talking about, I noticed the way your freckles got lighter in winter, I notice when you get embarrassed the very tips of your ears and nose go bright red. I notice these things and if I don't tell you I may just go insane. I... I think I've loved you for years now. Maybe when I first met you." Patton was still frozen, and Logan didn't see it but his eyes were tearing up.

He sighed, shaking his head, "Leave it to me to fall in the most cliché way imaginable. But I love you more than anything, Patton." He looked back up and Patton put his fork down, the small clink of the fork hitting the ceramic plate the only noise for a second. Well, long than a second, at least a few minutes.

Logan watched carefully as Patton thought, looking at the table before looking back up at Logan. His eyes were still glossy but he had a small smile on his face.

"Lo, I love you more than anything. I think... I think I've loved you for two years, and every time I see you my heart skips a beat and I get those butterflies in my stomach and... I dunno, it feels nice. And... I notice things about you too. I notice that when you're reading you mimic the expressions of the characters, when you drink hot tea you put your pinky up like you're playing tea party with a little kid, and... when you listen to music, when you think no one else is listening, you sing. And your singing voice is so... angelic. It's beautiful and I think it's one of my favorite sounds in the world. Other than when you're explaining something you like. Because you talk with this beautiful passion that just... I don't even know how to explain it but it's beautiful."

Now it was Logan's turn to stare at Patton, a look of disbelief on him as he nervously smiled at him. Patton decided to break the silence first. "So... so Friday's dinner, did you-" "Mean it as a date?" Logan finished, voice more breath than his actual voice. Patton's ears turned red and he nodded.

"Yes, that's why I was so nervous about asking you. It was supposed to be a date and... goodness this is embarrassing, I wanted to kiss you that night. Very badly. But then you said that we were just friends." Patton groaned, propping up his elbows and putting his head in his hands. "Ugh! I thought that dinner was friendly!" He looked back up at Logan, "Lo, I would've loved it if you kissed me that night. You can kiss me any time you want."

Logan felt a smile spread on his face, he couldn't believe his luck. This amazing man loved him back, his best friend, someone who knew him like the back of his hand, loved him. He's never been happier in his life.

"Well," Logan glanced down at Patton's lips. "May I kiss you now?"

"Of course."

So Logan leaned over and Patton did the same, their lips meeting in the middle as they finally, after years of pining, kissed. It was amazing, almost otherworldly as Patton's soft lips pressed against Logan's. He felt like he was getting dizzy too, which seemed impossible, how could one get dizzy when standing still? Logan wasn't sure, but for once he really didn't care about finding out why something happened.

Patton on the other hand wasn't even thinking. Well, not coherently that is. There was just a mantra of Oh goodness his lips feel good in his head as Logan hesitantly reached over and cupped Patton's face. The gentle hold made Patton want to collapse and he leaned into it so he wouldn't.

Eventually Logan pulled away and Patton glanced down at his lips with a smile. He used the pad of his thumb to trace them gently, "You kiss well, Lo."

Logan flushed at both what just occurred and at Patton's gentle touch before he spoke. "Thank you... You kiss well too."

Patton hummed, "I do?" He looked back up at Logan, thumb and pointer finger holding his chin.

"Yeah..." Logan breathed out and Patton's smile stayed. "Okay... well would you like to come over when I'm done eating? We could watch movies or just cuddle on my couch."

"I'd love to."

Fun fact: When looking up what foods to have Logan make I stumbled upon aphrodisiac foods, which are believed to help put people in the mood. This is because they may have alot of vitamin E or C, which help with blood flow and therefore maintaining an erection or because of the shape of the food.

Just a few of these foods include pomegranates, strawberries, whipped cream, and asparagus. Am I saying that Logan was hoping that was true and that as the two continued having dinner together they'd be extremely satisfied after doing the devil's tango? Maybe.

Anywho, if you want that strawberry pie recipe let me know because it's my grandma's and maybe I'm bias but it's the best strawberry pie ever. She also has an amazing crust recipe, but she hasn't given me it yet.

Speaking of recipes I just made a beautiful apple cinnamon cake. I haven't tried it as it's a gift for my friend but goodness it looks scrumptious.

Anyways,

Bi~❤💛💚💙💜
