The first meeting

Eren's POV:

I sat there in a carriage, ready for the journey ahead of me. To be honest, I was very excited to meet Mika Ackerman. After all, I hadn't seen him since I was 5 years old. I fiddled with my royal dark blue dress as my father's most trusted solider sat on the opposite side of me. Since there were a lot of criminals in the Ackerman's city state. And especially on the road there, my father wanted to make sure that I would be 100% safe.
"So, you excited about this? I heard Mika had the entire city state plan to throw a celebration after the wedding." Erwin said. I put on a fake smile. Although I knew this was to solve tensions between my family and the Ackerman family. I still didn't like the idea of marrying Mika for some reason. I was excited to meet him, but marriage? I think that's a little to far.
"Is that so?" I asked.
"Indeed it is your highness. By the way,   You look VERY tiered. Perhaps if you sleep on the way there it'd be better for you. After all, we don't want you passing out as soon as you step out." Erwin pointed out. I nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. I was busy packing last night. Also Armin didn't want to let me sleep. So a nap would be nice." I said, yawning. As I felt sleep over take me.

I woke up in the carriage to a familiar voice that I hadn't heard since I was 4. Back when the Jeager and Ackerman families were in peace.
"Well hello princess Eren." Mika said. I opened my eyes and hugged him. As he was leaning over me.
"Mika! I haven't seen you in so long!" I said. Excited. After a long hug, I got up.
"Well, seeing how you've just arrived, perhaps you should get to know your new home."Mika said.
"Actually, I'd like to see the city first." I said. Mika smiled.
"Well then let's go." Mika said, as he helped me out of the carriage.

I was walking around the city, apparently Mika had a meeting to attend to, so I just had the guards. The town was beautiful. So much so I don't know how to describe it. The buildings had the most prettiest decorations and colors. And most of the citizens looked happy. Until I noticed a family. There was a girl and her mother. They looked as if they hadn't eaten in a week! It killed me to watch them beg. Someone even spat on them. I looked at the bag of coins Mika gave me for trading. I pulled out of few pounds and then approached them. The girl at mediately noticed me and bowed. So did her mother.
"I-I'm sorry your majesty! We don't have anything to offer you!" The mother said, clearly afraid. I hated that feeling. The feeling of being feared. It made me feel like a monster. I kneeled down as I put the coins in her hand.
"Keep them, I want nothing more from you then to see you flourish. And take this too." I said, removing my necklace. The girl and mother gasped. As did all the others.
"B-but we are not worthy of this!" The mother said.
"Don't believe those stupid lies, you are worthy enough for it. Like I said, I want nothing from you. I just want see you well fed, clean, and happy. Okay." I said. The woman nodded as her daughter smiled and hugged me. She looked so cute. With her red hair in messy pig tails. She looked like her mother. Minus the clothing.
"Thank you so much princess!" The child said.
"Your welcome, now, I have to go back to the castle soon. And if anyone dares to take this gift from them, they shall be punished severely!" I said, as I stood up. I walked and waved goodbye to them, as I headed back to the carriage.
"Your majesty, pardon me but, do you know how much money that necklace is worth?" One of the guards asked.
"Yes, that's why I gave it to them. So they could sell it for enough money to last them decades." I replied. I could've sworn I heard one of the guards say to the other. "Mika is not going to be happy about this."
