Valerie Black is a member of the Black Family and the hero known as Twilight's Mark.

After saving the world again with The Team, Valerie couldn't feel more fulfilled.

Unfortunately, her father unexpectedly dies, her mother, a cat burglar known as The Sly Cat, returns after years away and Valerie tries her best to keep her family from falling apart.

And then things get even more complicated when Valerie finds her boyfriend Wally West on the family's property when he should be dead.

Grappling with the death of her father, the return of her mother and boyfriend, Valerie is unsure where to go from here.

Will she ever be able to reconcile with her mother? Will she and Wally continue to be together? And will Valerie ever get out of her father's shadow or forever be stuck in his legacy and family name?

OTHER:

•This series is somewhat ambitious because it requires flashbacks which I am not ready to write without a rewatch

•The series takes place right before the Supermartian wedding (which isn't a wedding for them anymore but a joint one for Ethan and Nina, their spouses)

•I took this down mostly because the first chapter, dealing with the death of the kind of awful patriarch, was super depressing and I just had to step back and realize that I was not in the right headspace to write it😅

•Chapter 1 deals with all the turmoil and emotional labor of trying to keep spirits high and trying to figure out how Valerie deals with her dad's death. She then finds Wally very much alive. She doesn't even question what he's doing there or how he's alive but just hugs him tightly and doesn't let go

•This series deals a lot with grief and loss and people coming back together after years apart

•A lot of the Black kids had a complicated relationship with David, who was a brilliant man but not always the best father

•Valerie also deals with her strained relationship with her mom. Her, and her sister Mallory, are the only two bio kids in the family. But David and Monica got into a huge fight one night and Monica left with Mallory to train her to be become her successor as the next Sly Cat
