[Y/n] woke up the next morning and opened her room door to see Soushi. "Good morning, [Y/n]-sama! I'm looking forward to another day with you." Soushi said with a bright smile while wagging his tail. "Good morning." [Y/n] was back to her blank, monotone self. Soushi's tail dropped and his ears fell. 

He dropped to his hands and knees. "What kind of a familiar, am I? I cannot even make my lady and mistress smile. Maybe, I should just roll over and die!" Soushi cried. [Y/n] panicked a bit. 

"I-It's okay. Look, look, I'm smiling." [Y/n] said and forced a smile. 

Soushi looked up and smiled. "You're adorable. May I take a picture to commemorate this moment?" Soushi asked while holding his phone up. 'Where did he get that?' [Y/n] thought. "Maybe later. Is Tomoe making breakfast?" She asked, and Soushi nodded. [Y/n] walked with her Familiar through the hall. She could see Rin and Izumo talking to each other at the sink in the middle of the hall. 

Rin said something to make Izumo blush. It stung [Y/n]'s heart. "Do you love him?" Soushi asked, noticing [Y/n]'s stare, and [Y/n] blushed. "N-No! I mean...I guess we're friends." [Y/n] mumbled while looking down at her feet. 

"[Y/n]-sama..." Soushi pulled [Y/n] into a big squeeze. 

"You are utterly adorable!!" Soushi cooed. 

Suddenly, he was kicked by Tomoe. "I told you to bring her downstairs, not suffocate her!" Tomoe yelled. 

"Fujiwara-san..." [Y/n] turned to Izumo. Izumo handed [Y/n] her cloak. It was all clean. "I-I only washed it because it was dirty! Don't get the wrong idea. If you hadn't come, who knows would have become of Paku and me...I'm grateful for that at least." Izumo said, and [Y/n] smiled. 

"I'm just glad...that you're okay." [Y/n] said in a gentle tone.

~~At School~~

"The majority of demons have lethal passages known as Fatal Verses. Specific words or phrases that will unfailingly cause their death. Arias are the professionals who are able to identify and recite these Fatal Verses! Now then, would someone recite the passage I assigned for homework?" The teacher asked and looked at Izumo. 

"Kamiki-san? Kamiki-san, is something the matter?' The teacher asked. 

"I-I'm sorry. U-Um..." "It's Te Deum, dear, from where we left off." The teacher said. 

"R-Right! Day by day we bless Thee. And we praise Thy name...Praise thy name forever, and world...And the world..." Izumo said and stopped. 

"What's wrong, dear?" The teacher asked. 

"Uh...um...I don't remember." Izumo said. 

"Oh, my...Kamiki-san, I must say this isn't like you. All right then, Suguro-san, will you take over?" The teacher asked. 

"Day by day we bless Thee. And we praise Thy name forever: and world without end. Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day: to keep us without sin. Have mercy on us, O Lord: have mercy on us. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us: as we have hoped in Thee. O Lord, in Thee have I hoped: let me never be confounded." Suguro recited, leaving all of his classmates impressed. 

"That was perfect, Suguro-san!" The teacher said, and Rin, Shiemi, and [Y/n] clapped for him. After the bell rang, the teacher left. 

"That was incredible!" Shiemi said. "Easy now, don't fall for me." Suguro said. "Hey, so you really are smart." Rin said in shock. 

"What do you mean, really?" Suguro questioned while glaring at Rin. 

"It's not that Bon's smart...he's just very good at memorizing things." Konekomaru explained. "In other words, Konekomaru, I'm smart, right?" Suguro growled. 

"Uh, yes." Konekomaru said, nervously.

"But anyone can memorize something." Izumo muttered. "What? Did you say something? Huh?" Suguro asked. 

"Bon..." 

"This coming from someone who couldn't even memorize four lines." Suguro said. Izumo stood up. "I-It's not that I can't memorize it! I just choose not to! Arias are completely defenseless while they're reciting, so they have to be protected by their party. They're nothing but a burden!" Izumo said. 

"What the hell? Are you seriously trashing an aspiring Aria in his face?!" Suguro yelled and stood up. 

The two walked closer to each other. "I'm so scared. Go on, hit me, if you want!" Izumo said. "I never could stand you in the first place! Don't make fun of people's dream!" Suguro slammed his hand down in front [Y/n], scaring [Y/n] and Rin. 

"Oh...you mean your goal of 'defeating Satan'? What a joke...what else can I do but laugh?" Izumo question. 

"Yeah? Then, how about you? What's your purpose in becoming exorcist, huh? Spill it!" Suguro yelled. "I've never told anyone else what my purpose is. Since I'm not an attention seeker like you!" Izumo said. 

"Would you both please stop fighting?" [Y/n] suggested while standing up from her seat. 

"Hmph! What do you know? You hardly even speak, and when you do decide to open your mouth, it has to be something comical or positive. What are you hiding, you one-eyed emotionless doll?!" Izumo yelled, and [Y/n] flinched a bit. 

"You little..."' Suguro growled and grabbed Izumo by the collar. 

Izumo swung and missed Suguro. Her hand was going towards [Y/n]. Rin quickly got in the way, and he took the hit to the arm. "Ouch...If you two are going to brawl, do it somewhere else!" Rin yelled. "All right, settle down. That's enough, already." Yukio said while looking annoyed.

"W-What the hell is up with this pickling rock? It's getting heavier by the second, for crying out loud!" Rin said. "It's another lower-level demon. The longer you hold it, the heavier...and heavier it gets." Konekomaru groaned. 

It was their punishment for fighting in class. [Y/n] even had to tear her summoning circles to prevent her Familiars from interfering. "You don't even know what a Bariyon is? You really are pathetic." Suguro said. 

"Don't gimme that! It's all because of your fight that we..."' Rin said. 

"It's called collective responsibility. The objective of this boot camp is not only to 'bolster your academic skills', but also for you to 'cultivate friendship'" Yukio said. 

"I'd rather die than be chummy with these jerks." Izumo said. 

"I'm afraid you're going to have to learn to get along. An exorcist can't go into battle alone!" Yukio yelled, "To maximize each other's skills, compensate for shortcomings, and fight in parties of two or more are basic procedures. In actual combat, such bickering could plunge you into life-or-death situations. Seriously reflect on that...All right, I'll be gone for about three hours on a minor assignment. However, due to the incident with the ghoul yesterday, I'm taking extra precautions and locking all of the dorm's entrances, and adding a powerful demon-warding charm." Yukio explained. 

"Locked? But then how are we supposed to get out of here?" Suguro asked. "There's no need to leave. I'll be back in three hours. Until then, I want you all to get along and cool off." Yukio said and left. 

"Three hours? He's as evil as a demon..." Shima muttered. 

"I can't take this anymore...Are you and that instructor really related?" Suguro asked Rin. 

"H-He's a really good guy! I'm sure he is..." Rin groaned, and he glanced at [Y/n] who was next to him. She hasn't said a word after what Izumo snapped her. She just hid her face with the hood of her cloak. 

Suguro clicked his tongue. "Anyway, look at this mess we're in, thanks to someone!" Suguro said. "Huh? You're the one who grabbed me by the collar! All because of your little crush on the doll!" Izumo yelled, and Suguro blushed. "I don't have a crush on her! It was you who picked that fight with me in the first place!" Suguro yelled. 

"Hey, stop fighting with me and [Y/n] in the middle!" Rin yelled. 

"Jeez, you're one twisted witch." Suguro growled. 

"I'm already aware of that, thanks! So what?" Izumo asked. 

"You're gonna drive everyone away with a personality like that." Suguro said, and Izumo's eyes widened. Suddenly, the lights went out. "What's that?" Shima asked, and Rin stood up. 

"Ouch! I dropped the Bariyon on my foot!" Rin yelled in pain. [Y/n] picked up the Bariyon and placed it beside her. "Wh-What the...? Did he turn off the lights, too?" Suguro asked. 

"Is it a blackout?" Konekomaru asked. 

"No, I can see lights on outside the window." Shima said. 

"You mean the blackout's just inside this building?" Rin asked. 

"I'm going outside." Shima said and stood up. 

"Shima-san, be careful, okay?" Konekomaru said. "Hey, these things give me a thrill. Like a real-life Test of Courage..." Shima said and opened the door. He saw the ghoul then closed the door. 

Shime rubbed his eyes. "What's this? Am I sleep-deprived? I just felt something..." He said when suddenly an arm smashed through the glass on the door. Shima ran back to the group of students and hid behind Rin. [Y/n] grabbed her sword. 

"That's...the ghoul." [Y/n] muttered. 

"I thought there was a demon-warding charm in effect?" Konekomaru questioned, and something exploded out of the ghouls' second head, splashing on the students.

"Ew, what is this?" Rin asked. "Oh gross! Is this bodily fluid?" Izumo questioned. The ghoul stepped closer. 

"Nee! Can you bring out some Una-una?" Shiemi asked her Familiar, and it nodded. Roots shot out of the greenman, stabbing the ghoul, and made a barrier between the ghoul and the students. 

"A-Amazing." 

"We're saved. Thanks to you, Shiemi." Rin said while he and [Y/n] walked over to the barrier. [Y/n] head seen the ghoul split apart and was coming after them. "It's coming this way!" Shima said. "Dammit. For supposedly being dead, you're pretty lively." Rin said. "Ghouls are way more active in the dark." Suguro said, and Shiemi suddenly started coughing then she fell to her knees. 

"What the matter, Shiemi?" Rin asked. 

"I'm feeling...dizzy..." Shiemi muttered, and everyone started to cough as well. Rin and [Y/n] were left confused. "Wh-What's happening? It's burning all of the sudden..." Suguro muttered. 

"What's wrong with you guys?" Rin asked. 

"It's because we got sprayed with the ghoul's bodily fluids. Doesn't it bother you at all?" Izumo asked. 

"Well...Dammit, Yukio, where the hell are you?" Rin questioned and tried to contact him on the phone. "Once Moriyama-san loses strength, this barrier will vanish. And if that happens, it's all over." Suguro said. [Y/n] walked closer to the barrier. 

"If we don't do anything, it'll get through." [Y/n] muttered, and Rin climbed the barrier. 

"What are you doing?" [Y/n] asked. 

"I'm gonna head outside and draw that thing away from here. If I get that thing to follow me, you guys find a way to escape." Rin explained. "Huh? Are you crazy?" Suguro asked. 

"Don't worry about me. I'm pretty strong, you know." Rin said and started to climb through the barrier. 

[Y/n] could already feel the feeling of worry swelling in her chest. "Rin!" [Y/n] called, and followed Rin. She reached out and grabbed the back of Rin's shirt. "[Y-Y/n]?! What are you- Go back!" Rin commanded. 

"No, I'm coming with you." [Y/n] said, and the ghoul noticed them. "Crap!" Rin muttered and grabbed [Y/n]'s hand. "Let's go!" Rin said, and the two escaped through the door with the demon following them. 

"The lights...We have to turn on the lights!" [Y/n] said while trying to keep up with Rin. 

Rin nodded, they made their way to the control room. Once they found the room, they went to turn on the power until the ghoul grabbed Rin and threw him aside. "Rin!" [Y/n] called and rushed over toward him, but the demon kicked her across the room. 

"[Y/n]!" Rin called as the ghoul got closer to her. 

"Stay away from her!" Rin yelled while running towards her and burst into flame. [Y/n] was suddenly was engulfed in her blue and purple flames as well. "Huh?" [Y/n] muttered as her eye-patch burned away, and the ghoul backed away.

"That's right, I just wanted to see those flames. Those blue flames..." It was Neuhaus-sensei. 

"So, you're the one who..." Rin said, but he was interrupted. 

"Since you two were unwilling to use 'power' in front of others, I took this chance to lure you away. Rin Okumura...Spawn of Satan....and you, too. [Y/n] Fujiwara...Princess of Gehenna." Neuhaus said. [Y/n]'s eyes widened, and she stood up. 

"How did you find out? Why would a teacher...?" Rin asked, and Neuhaus smiled. "So you were behind both attacks?" [Y/n] asked. 

"Actually, yes." Neuhaus said. 

"Never mind that, I want to see more of those 'powers'." Neuhaus said, and the ghoul charged at them. [Y/n] and Rin unleashed their swords. "We'll make you pay!" [Y/n] and Rin yelled as they jumped into the air. Their swords came down, stabbing the ghoul in the head, and the ghoul was turned into ashes with their red flames. 

"Dammit! Where's he go?!" Rin yelled. "That's not important. We have to get the lights on." [Y/n] said and rushed to the power grid and turned it on.

"Wait...Weren't there two heads on the ghoul?" [Y/n] asked. 

"Shit..." Rin cursed, and they ran back to the room. "Hey! Was the other ghoul that stayed behind here?" Rin asked while [Y/n] reached in her uniform pocket and got another eye-patch. 

They were shocked. "Y-You...what about the other one?" Suguro asked. "Oh, we got it. Did you get the other one, too? Awesome..." Rin said. Suguro ran full speed at Rin and clotheslined him. "What's wrong with you? Do you want to be killed?" Suguro yelled. 

"H-Hold up! Y-You're the one trying to kill me!" Rin said, and Suguro chased him around. Shima and Konekomaru tried to hold him back. 

"What's this?" Yukio asked while walking in. "Hey, Yukio. Where have you been?" Rin asked, and Neuhaus stepped in. Rin and [Y/n] eyes widened then Rin pulled [Y/n] behind him. Rin glared at Neuhaus.
