Chapter 5

(Picture of Amelia and Emma)

Hello my lovely readers. I know it is not Sunday yet but I thought whatever:-) I will post it anyway:-) So here it is one day earlier and I hope you will like it.

Chapter 5

"Come on Tom. I don't want to be late." I said while I strolled through the main kitchen in Kensington Palace on Monday morning. He looked at me calmly took a last sip of his coffee and put on his jacket.

"Good morning to you too." He said while I quickly took some banana and apple from the table put it into my bag and run out of there. I must tell the staff to stock my kitchen. I am out of fresh fruit.

"What is your plan for today Your Highness?" he asked me when we were already driving out of the Kensington Palace. I was quickly putting my hair into a sleek small bun and covering it with a black wig.

"Today it is the studio until twelve. After that I have to run to the opening of ALS center and after that again into the studio." I recited my plan for today when I quickly changed my sweater and coat and put on a fake thick frame glasses.

"Have I ever told you that you resemble your father when you have the dark hair?" He said matter of factly looking into the rear view mirror at me.

"Really?" I said surprised. Everyone always said I looked just like my mom. And I was really proud of that. I looked into my pocket mirror and I made a conclusion I looked pretty ordinary.

He stopped one street from the studio as always.

"Please make sure Charles gives you my dress for the afternoon opening. I can't be late." I said to him. I forgot to call Charles yesterday. I was still upset about what happened with James. I hope I will keep him out of my mind while I will be working today. I have to keep myself busy.

"Don't worry. I will make sure they will get on time to me. Remind me why am I helping you with this?" he asked me.

"Because it's your job?" I asked him showing him my biggest smile packing the rest of my things into another bag.

"No. I am not paid for covering up your secret activities from the King. I should be reporting to him and not supporting you." He said a bit angry at himself.

"Then I think it's because you love me?" I replied with a huge smile. He shook his head.

"I am crossing all the rules for you Emma. If I will get fired for this..." he said.

"Don't worry. You will not." I replied. "Thank you Tom. See you later." I said and jumped out of the car. I was walking to the studio. I saw as Tom followed me in the car as always. I couldn't show up in front of the studio in Land Rover with a driver slash bodyguard. Everyone would suspect something. I was only an intern and I had to act like one. So he was watching me from the distance.

Tom was the only person who knew about my job. Well except of Lady Amelia Philips. Our long time family friend. She is Eva's aunt and also happens to be James's mother. I still can't understand how such a great woman can have such a douche son.

Amelia helped me to get this job. She knew about my passion for interior design and she come up with this idea when I told her my father won't allow me to do it professionally. The owner of this studio Charlotte is her friend so she introduced me to her under a fake identity. Student seeking a part time job to help her out when I am not at school. Making sure to give them my school schedule the week before. Of course that schedule is in reality my royal duties schedule but nobody has to know that.

"Sarah! You are finally here!" my boss Amanda called after me when I walked inside. It was the best studio in London. I was really happy I could work here and so excited I could learn a lot of new things and how the business works in reality. If my father knew about this he would probably kill me. Well this is the only way how I can do what I want. Sneaking behind his back.

"We need to order the textiles for Dexon's living room. He finally decided between the two I was suggesting. Try to make a deal for the delivery this week." She said as she was looking into a catalog of sofa textiles.

"This week? But the delivery time is one month." I said surprised at her insane request. She was a good designer but insane boss. But I love that she asks for my opinions and even though I am working here only one month she already let me design a nursery for one of her clients.

"I am sure you will arrange it." Her assistant Jessica said to me with her annoying voice. She  didn't like me very much. I didn't understand why. I was really nice to her. But I guess it's just her character.

"Sure." I said uncertain. Well that will be hard to do. I quickly went to my desk and put my bag on my chair as I was about to take off my coat.

"You can keep it on. Go grab the ordered curtains to the Flanel's. They were calling they have them on their stock already. And when you will be on your way you can also grab the coffee for us." She said to me.

"Sure." I said even though I wanted to say it was her job. I clearly remember Amanda ordered her last week to go for the curtains. But I was only an intern here. I had to keep my mouth shut. Even though it was very hard for me. I hated this part of the job. I was there for the creative part and not the assisting part. But that's what I wanted and that's what I got.

I walked out of the studio and headed to the Flanel's which was ten streets from here. I saw Tom's black Land Rover following me through the street and it started to rain.

"Oh great." I muttered to myself.

"Tough morning?" Tom asked me through the window as he was driving slowly next to me.

"Yep." I replied while walking. "Remind me why am I doing this?" I asked him discouraged.

"Because it's your job?" he replied smiling at me and I stopped and looked at him narrowing my eyes.

"Because you love it?" he said and I looked at him desperately. "Come on. Jump in. Where did they send you now?" he asked me.

--

"Here you have it." I said and put the bag with the curtains on the table and the hot coffee right next to it.

"That was quick." Jessica said and looked at her watch. I was away not even thirty minutes.

"I took a cab." I lied.

"Amanda will not repay it." She replied.

"I don't mind." I replied to her and sat down ready to finally order the textiles. She was always using me for her parts of the job and I could swear that when I was here she wasn't working at all.

Tom picked me up at the lunch break. I jumped into clothes store and quickly changed in the cabin into my dress for my official royal event. I kept the wig and glasses on and run back to the car.

"You are getting better with the timing." Tom said and drove off. I took off the wig and put my hair into a bun.

"The rest of the team is behind us." Tom said looking into the rear view mirror. I looked through the back window and noticed two black SUVs joined us. I put some more make up on and we were at the Center just in time.

"Oh here you are. Where are you all days? I can't reach you. Is this even normal?" Charles my assistant was panicking when I walked out of the car. Tom was right at my side.

"Calm down Charles. I am here and on time. Let's go inside and you will make a quick brief for me." I said and walked to the entrance waving to the crowds waiting for me outside.

The opening of the ALS center went smoothly. I was grateful for this part of me being a princess. I could influence people. I could make awareness to a different kinds of health issues. I was still taking care of our charity. And that was something really close to me and my brothers. We never canceled our meetings. If we couldn't attend we would at least replace each other. Our mom was the one who thought us this. Even though I was really little and I don't remember her much I remember few weeks before she passed away how she took us during the night to the orphanage to make the kids laugh. We bought them a lot of toys. It was amazing night and I am really happy I have this memory of her.

"Where have you been so long? You should have been here thirty minutes ago!" Jessica said when I came running back to the studio. I was late because I forgot about the time when I was talking to the people.

"Sorry. The traffic." I replied.

"Yeah. Well this is the last warning. I hope it is not going to repeat." She said looking at me with narrowed eyes.

"Oh my God. Lady Amelia." She suddenly said looking behind me nervous.

"Hello ladies." Amelia greeted us walking inside the studio smiling at me knowingly.

"Good afternoon." Jessica said nervously. I don't remember Amelia visiting the studio before.

"How are you doing today?" She asked us.

"Wonderful." Jessica replied.

"Great." I said and smiled at her.

"Well. Is Amanda at her office?" she asked.

"Yes." Jessica replied. "She is expecting a visit."

"That would be me." Amelia said nicely. I always liked Amelia. She was mom's best friend and when she died she always tried her best for me to not miss her so much. Whatever was on my mind and I needed a mothers opinion I could go to her.

"Then I guess you can go inside." Jessica said laughing naively and Amelia left to Amanda's office.

"Oh my God. That is Lady Amelia Philips" she said whispering and looking at the closed door of Amanda's office

"Yes. I know." I said matter of factly. Of course I know Amelia has a title and she belongs to the second most powerful family in Britain right after our family. But I certainly didn't expect Jessica to be freaking out over her like this. For the one month I work here I never saw her to be freaking out so much.

"I can't believe I met her!" Jessica was freaking out. "Can you imagine that? She is so important that she was at the royal wedding this weekend. She knows the King and the princes and princesses." She was telling me like I didn't know a thing about that.

"Oh really?" I asked her without any interest and sat down behind my desk. Now I can't imagine her reaction if she knew who I actually am.

She was starring at the door of Amanda's office the entire fifteen minutes Amelia was there.

"Thank you Amelia for trusting us with this." Amanda walked out of her office followed by Amelia.

"I know Charlotte has the best interior design studio in London and you will do your best." Amelia replied to her as the two of them came to our desks. Jessica was immediately at Amanda's side.

"We have the honor to be designing some of the rooms in the residence of Lady Amelia and Sir Robert Philips." Amanda said to Jessica and her eyes almost popped out as well as mine.

"Those rooms need a lot of work. They are the same for almost fifteen years. I can't wait what you will do with them." Amelia laughed.

"We can't wait either." Amanda replied.

"Do you know what it means?" Jessica asked me whispering excitedly and I looked at her still surprised. "We will probably meet her son James." She said too excited. Oh my god. This is not happening.
