Chapter 1

Breath Emma. Just breath. Only billion people are watching you to walk down this aisle. Uff at least you are not the center of the attention now. This is Eva's day. You should calm down.

I was talking to myself in my head as I was walking through the aisle of St. Paul's cathedral as a bridesmaid. My brother Henry was finally getting married to the love of his life Eva. It was a huge deal in the whole world since my brother is Prince of England and the second in the line to the throne after our older brother Philip. Eva and Henry are such a beautiful couple and I was so happy for both of them. They really deserve each other.

I was nervous mostly because all the preparations for this wedding were made by me. I prepared all the decorations, all the wedding venue and the wedding plan. Even though I had a lot of help from the wedding planers still Eva left everything on me and her grandmother. I did actually offered my help because decorating was my favorite thing to do. I was trying to pursue a career as Interior designer but my father would not allow me to do it. He says princess should be focused only on her royal duties and not to play with furniture. And the princess has to listen to the King right? Or do it her own way.

So now I was hoping that Henry and Eva like what I prepared for their special day. And I was afraid of the public opinions about the wedding.

I was walking to the altar wearing my creamy bridesmaids dress following the page boys and flower girls. I was looking at my brother who was standing there waiting for his bride. The look in his eyes was sheer happiness. I was so happy for him. Seeing him with this look gave me chills. I so wished that one day there will be a man waiting for me at the altar and looking at me the way my brother looks at Eva. Few months back I thought the guy would be Edward. But we ended it and now I am alone again. At least I can focus on my new project of decorating Henry's and Eva's new home.

I finally came to my brother and then I noticed his groomsman standing right next to him and my heart suddenly started to beat faster. I totally forgot he will be here. James William Philips. The Duke of Antrim. The biggest playboy in the country. The best friend of my brother who happens to be Eva's cousin. How could I forget about his presence at this wedding?

James was looking at me and I noticed as he was ogling me with his flirty smile. If there were not billion people watching me I would probably showed him my middle finger. But as the princess as I am I just showed him my big smile. Why did my heart skipped a beat when I saw him standing there? I am not a stupid teenager anymore. I am over him.

"You are looking nice Princess." He said to me as I stopped standing at the left side waiting as it was the brides turn to walk in.

"Hmm. At least one of us does Jimie." I replied to him making sure he saw my unappreciative look of his expensive tuxedo.

That was a total lie. He looked hot as hell. But he would not hear that from my mouth even if I had to eat a hot stones. His hair were in a sleek haircut as it always was. His blue eyes were sparkling at me and from his well cared beard was showing his shiny smile. I heard Henrys laugh at my response to James. He loved our mockery even though he had no idea what was the real reason for that.

My heart was betraying me by skipping a beats during the whole ceremony. My eyes were involuntarily tracing to James and he always looked at me back. Our eyes met a few times during the ceremony making the tension between us even bigger. It was getting hotter and hotter there by every minute. When the priest finally pronounced Henry and Eva as husband and wife I couldn't be happier. This time not only for my brother but also for me that I could finally get away from James's presence. This was probably the longest time we were in such near presence of each other since that night. Since then I was trying to avoid him as much as I could. He walked in and I walked out. But there was no backing at this point. It was time to walk out of the cathedral. I looked as Eva and Henry were already following the priest out when James came to me and offered me his arm.

"Shall we Princess?" he asked smiling at me. If looks could do what the mind was thinking then his head would probably blow up in that moment. But there was no other choice. There were billions of people watching us and any bad move would cause a lot of talking and bad press for the family. I kept my mouth shut and took his hand. My heart was doing a rounds of marathon. Keep it together Emma!

"One stupid word and you are going to regret it later." I told him and he smiled.

"Don't worry. I will behave." He replied. We were slowly walking out of the cathedral and I noticed as he was occasionally starring at me. I was trying to keep my mind busy and focusing on the next part of the wedding and that would be the ride and then coming to the wedding venue in Buckingham Palace. But holding his hand was keeping me on the edge and very nervous. It seemed like the walk was taking hours.

"Hmm. How happy they are." He suddenly said thoughtfully looking at Henry and Eva. I looked at him surprised. "How much they love each other." He added as I was starring at him surprised.

"Hmm. I thought you wouldn't recognize love even if it was right under your nose." I said to him and he looked at me.

"You would be surprised." He said looking at me intensely as we finally came to the exit door of the cathedral where thousands of people were waiting outside. His eyes were magnetizing me.

Thankfully I was saved by the huge applause and celebration of the crowds when Henry and Eva walked to the carriage. I quickly removed my hand and walked to my carriage hoping I will not have to talk to him today again. As I sat down into the carriage I finally breathed out a heavy breath I was holding. I can't believe that after all this time he still has this effect on me.

"Eva!" I called at my now sister in law. We were already in Buckingham palace. We had all the officiality of Royal weddings behind us and we were finally enjoying the celebration. She was sitting at the table with Henry. They were shining with happiness.

"How do you like it?" I asked her.

"Oh my God. It is amazing. Everything is just perfect." She said to me and hugged me.

"Really?" I asked her. "I hope you don't say that only to be polite." I replied

"No no. Not at all." She was assuring me.

"You did a great job sis." Henry said and kissed my cheek. I knew that my brother would tell me the truth if he didn't like it. So I was finally calmer and really happy they were satisfied with it. I put a lot of work and thought into this. Now was the time for me to relax.

"Thank you." I said happily.

"Wow you are just radiant." I said to Eva who was shining with happiness.

"May I have the dance?" I heard my father to ask me interrupting our conversation. I looked at him standing next to the table.

"I guess it is not very polite to say no to the king." I said to him with a straight face and Henry laughed. I know I was always daddy's girl but I was still mad at him about not allowing me to have my own business.

"Well that would be really rude." He replied smiling at me and offered me his hand. I took it and he was leading me to the floor and started dancing waltz.

"I am really sad your mother couldn't be here. She would be really happy." He said and I smiled sadly. I missed her so much. Even though I don't remember her that much, I was only five when she died but probably because of that I miss her even more.

"She would be. Both of her sons are already happily married." I said to him pointing at my brother Philip and Henry.

"I know I made a mistake with pushing Henry into a marriage with someone he didn't love." He suddenly said pointing at the terrible years of him pushing Henry to marry prime ministers daughter even though she was cheating on him. Well that story is thankfully behind us.

"Yes. You were a jerk." I said to him and he raised his eyebrow at me.

"Mind your language young lady." He said and looked around making sure nobody heard that. There was around five hundred guests here and at least fifty of them were dancing near us but I am sure nobody heard that.

"Well it is true." I whispered. "But I am happy you finally made up your mind." I said and he smiled.

"I am really proud of you." He said as we were dancing. I looked at him surprised. "Everything looks really nice." He added smiling at me.

"Thank you dad." I replied. "So did you also made up your mind about me starting my own business?" I asked him shining my smile at him and showing my puppy eyes. He took a deep breath.

"Don't start with this Emma." He said and we stopped dancing as the song ended.

"Come on dad. You said you like what I did with this." I pleased.

"You know what my decision is." He said and looked at me sternly. It looks like I am never going to win this one request. He is too stubborn making me even madder at him. I was about to argue with him when we got interrupted.

"Your majesty. If you allow me. I would like to dance with your daughter." James interrupted our conversation as another song already started. I looked at him surprised. What the hell is he doing?

"James!" my father exclaimed reliefed. "You have my permission." He smiled at him and left the dance floor leaving me standing there with him.

"Shall we Princess?" He asked me offering me his hand and shining his charming smile at me.
