When I Met The Blade
The legendary blade of the equally legendary hero that was my ancestor.
In my father's hands, the Alfa Geass was a golden blade.
But on the day of my 10th birthday, my father allowed me to hold the sword. In my hands, it became red like blood, as I was greeted by the spirit of the blade.
"Why hello young Prince"
Though they couldn't smile, they spoke as if they had one.
My father left me to get a feel for the blade. And I did so willingly.
The power of the blade was my first true taste of TRUE power. He made me faster, tougher, stronger, in an instant.
"As predicted..."
Adam: Hm?
I had tried to ignore the voice at first, but he knew what to do to get my attention. Of course, it did... I possessed the ability to see into the future, like the Oracles.
Though this power of his was focused on seeing the imminent future for battle, past diaries of my family have noted how its power to see greater into the future had grown.
"Hehe.."
Adam: What's so funny?
"You become a wordy bastard in the future."
Thinking about it now... It was probably looking into the future where I'm right now recording my story when he told me that...
Adam: Can you truly see the future...?
"I can."
Adam: Can you-
"I cannot."
He already knew what I was going to ask. Including what I was going to say next.
"Because that ability is for the 'King'. If you wish to see the future... Kill your father."
Adam: That's unnecessary...
"Give it time"
After that, I ended my first time with the blade. But it would far be the last time I would wield it.
My father soon made me his knight every time he took me to visit other kingdoms. Then he would give me the blade to lead the other rulers in a false sense of security, helped by some "peace deal" he made.
I quickly learned the despicable reasons why he would visit other rulers.
He was sowing the seeds of hate and war into them. His "peace deal" had a loophole. He could not start a war. Others could.
My father would seduce Queens, sometimes Princess, and often he'd convince them with promises of sparing them once he ruled over all, this got several into his bed and angered the kings.
But when that wouldn't work, he'd have me "spar" with their knights, and humiliate them, all to flaunt his power. Other times, he'd sabotage the other kingdoms, forcing them to rely on his resources which cost too much.
These years of being by his side, are when I had the "honor" of witnessing the true side of my father.
Adam: How...?
(Woosh)
Adam: How are we related...?
(Woosh)
After a truly sickening plot to anger a ruler, I practiced with the Alfa Geass.
Adam: Is it me who is flawed... Or is it him? What made him that way?
(Woosh)
Adam: What made me different..?
(Woosh)
Adam; And... Do I have the same thing in me..? To be that monster?!
In my anger, I saw a glimpse at a possible future where I struck him down with the same red blade in my hands. Whether or not this was because of my imagination or the blade itself, I do not know.
I just knew that this was the day when I truly began to consider if I should strike him down, just like that.
At the time, I held off against it. Deciding to go behind his back and make dealings with the other rulers.
It took many years to convince them, but I eventually did.
But during that time, a strange occurrence I came to bear witness.
On my way back from training, I came across a few men trying to kidnap a princess. These weren't men from my Empire, thus I could freely intervene.
Adam: You made the world's biggest mistake.
I drew out the Alfa Geass from my back. It glowed blue, and in a flash, the men were dead. The princess found herself in my arms, confused.
Diana: Huh? You're...?!
It took me a moment, but I quickly recognized the princess as Diana. The girl me and my brother played with when we were young.
Adam: I'm Adam. And you're... Princess Diana. I remember playing with you when we were younger.
Walking over the chopped-up bodies of the kidnappers, I carry her back to her room
A few days later, we got together for coffee. She reminded me of better times, so I could not help myself.
Diana: How have you been?
Adam: I live with a tyrant. Despite that, not bad.
Don't know why I was so open to her. Something about how body language showed she was comfortable with me and allowed me to do the same.
Adam: How are you holding up after... You-know-what.
Diana: I've barely slept. At this point, I can't wait to go home.
Adam: You need to get yourself a personal guard.
Diana: I guess I just got complacent with a certain someone always coming to my rescue.
Diana:(mumbles) I guess in spirit, they still are...
She attempts to take a sip of coffee but finds she's out. But I, the gentleman I am, quickly refill her cup.
Diana: Hmph! That's more-
Diana:(clears throat)
Diana: Apologies, force of habit.
Adam: What habit?
Diana: Don't worry about it, dummy-
Diana: Damn it! I did it again!
Adam: Uh-huh...?
She was acting weird to me. I remember her having a crush, and so, at the time, I just assumed she still did. After all, I did save her life.
Diana:(sips)
Diana:(sigh)
Diana: L-(clears throat)
Diana: Adam. About your brother-
I wished I heard her out. But the thought of the brother whose exile or death I assumed was my fault, quickly made me stop her.
Adam: I don't wish to talk about this.
Diana: Oh... Alright...
It was nice, catching up. Sadly our next meeting wouldn't be a good one. For now, we said our goodbyes. She continued with her life, as my father brought me to a stadium...
The crowds were massive, the cheers were roaring and louder than thunder.
Tyrant King: This... That is where I met your mother...
Adam: What?
He'd sometimes do this.
Tyrant King: It's also where we fell in love...
Show me a human side. Vulnerability. This sick trick kept me hoping to somehow redeem him.
Tyrant King: And where I asked her to be mine...
To pull his dark soul into the light...
But that was a fantasy.
At the time, I enjoyed this bonding moment. That is until I saw the host of the stadium.
My mother's twin sister...
It was a shocking revelation. Especially when I found this out after I fought in the stadium for several hours just to get near her.
"Two negatives, make a positive"
The blade told me as I realized from the stories told after my battles, that my mother was also... A horrible person.
To be continued....
