The following day, there was no celebration, at least not from the team who did the job. Charon, the former Iron Lord, gave his life to protect the city. He wouldn't have wanted a large elaborate funeral like many of the other guardians would have for a sacrifice as grand as his own. There were six people in New York to lay Charon to rest. The fireteam, and his daughter Nova. 

"Why did he have to go James?" Nova asked him with her tears pouring down to the ground. 

"I don't know." He said partially crying himself. He embraced Nova to comfort the both of them. 

He let go of her for a moment and helped Sidriks place the casket in the ground. If it was one thing that James knew for certain was that he would have wanted to be buried alongside his wife. James found the ring that Charon would have used in his proposal to Kronah in Charon's pocket. He kneeled down in between the two headstones and dug a small hole in the area. He then placed the box inside and buried it.

"I'll miss him," James said to Cameron.

"James, what will happen to me now?" Nova asked him slightly calmer than before.

"I plan to honor your father's dying wish. He wanted Cameron and me to look after you." James replied to her sadly.

"Okay, may I just, be alone for a bit?" 

"Sure Nova, I know I can never replace your dad. But I'll do my best to take care of you in his stead." James replied. 

"Thank you." She responded as the five other guardians transmatted away. She kneeled down at the graves of both her parents. She lost both of them and had no idea what she was supposed to do now. 

"What do you want me to do Dad?" She asked herself. She couldn't help but cry as she stayed on the ground. Gem, Nova's ghost, floated out next to her. 

"He'd want you to follow your dream of becoming a guardian Nova." Gem replied to her rhetorical question. She then stood up from the earth and transmatted back to the ship in the sky. This was her father's ship. She looked at the photo of her family that her dad always kept in the back. They all looked so happy; now it was just Nova. Sad and alone. She took her ship and landed back at the tower. She decided not to go to her family's apartment, at least not yet. 

"I'll miss them Gem." She said sitting down under the tree in the tower plaza looking up to the sky.

Charon woke up slowly. The world around him was so different than the one he had left. It was peaceful here, the sky above was as bright as midday, but there were nebulas and stars in the air. It was like a night in the plains of Old Russia. He sat up on the grass and looked around. There were mountains to the far east and a lake only a few meters north of where he stood. He stood up and noticed that there were other people here with him. They all appeared to be guardians. 

"Wait, if they're all guardians then...."

"Charon!" He heard a voice call to him.

"Wait, Kronah?" He asked turning around. 

He got tackled to the ground by a brunette hunter and was embraced with a passionate kiss from her. "I missed you so much!" She told him continuing to kiss him. 

"I missed you too." He replied. He wondered for a long time if there was such thing as an afterlife. This Otherworld, as it was called by the ancients, was only spoken of in legend by the thanantonauts. Many believed that the visions of those orders was only madness. But he knew better now. A tear began to fall from his face as he continued to kiss his girlfriend. He couldn't be happier.

Dredgen Yor appeared in front of Oryx upon the dreadnought. "Master your son....is dead."

Oryx turned around to face Yor. "Set course for Earth. I don't care how long it takes; I will have my revenge."
