Chapter 36

Hello my lovely readers. Here is another chapter. I hope you will like it.

Chapter 36

I took a few deep breaths and I followed him into the OR.

"Thank you for letting me watch the procedure Dr. Cruz." Dr. Michaels said when I walked into the OR.

"You don't have to thank me. Just watch and learn. Maybe one day you will need this." I replied coming to the table where Rosie was already prepared. I looked at her one more time before we began. The tought of Emily, Philip, Emma, Henry and the King seeing her in the morning before the surgery crossed my mind. They were all so scared. They will be out there for at least four hours waiting for the news.

"Can we start Dr. Cruz?" Doctor Simmons asked me interrupting my thoughts.

"I am ready." I replied as I looked up at him and he pointed at the trey with tools. I took a scalpel and started.

"What is that song you are humming?" I asked after two hours Dr. Simmons. He was in really good mood which made me calmer. But that song just somehow didn't matched him.

"Well I don't know who sings it too. Just my granddaughter listens to it so often that it is now stuck in my head." He said and I laughed.

"That explains it."I replied.

"Here it is." Dr. Simmons said suddenly when we finally got to the aneurysm. "Come look closer Dr. Michaels. You don't see that often such a small aneurysm." He said and Michaels looked trough his shoulder.

"How are you going to remove it when it is so small?" he asked observing it.

"Well that is the most difficult part." I replied. "That is why we have this." I showed him a mini scalpel. "I will have better feeling and control over it." I said.

"Even a small cut to wrong direction and everything can be lost." Dr. Simmons said.

"Yeah, well thank you Dr. Simmons for reminding me." I said to him sarcastically.

"Sorry." He said guiltily. I had to take time to observe it closely and carefully before I decided where to begin.

"Ok. I am ready." I said to them. This is it. This is the turning point. I took a deep breath and slowly and as carefully as I could I cut it out. When I was done it was Dr. Simmons's turn to immediately make small stitches. It had to be done really quickly so Rosie don't loose a lot of blood.

"Everything seems okay." He said as we were observing if there isn't any blood leaking where it shouldn't. Suddenly the monitor started to beeping and Rosies heart stopped.

"No, no, no Rosie. Don't do this to me." I said while observing the heart from every side when I found the small leak.

"Here." I said and Dr. Simmons quickly took care of it.

"Come on Rosie don't die on me here." I was talking to her.

"I am done." Dr. Simmons said, pulled his hands up and I took a defibrillator for open heart and charged it. I pressed it to her heart expecting it to start again. Nothing.

"Again." I said, charged and again pressed it. "Come on, come on. Start beating." I was nervously looking at the monitor while I could feel beating of my own heart in my throat. Then I saw the line on the monitor skip and another skip and the beeping got into the normal sound of a beating heart as Rosies heart started to work again.

"Wooo. Thank God." I breathed out a heavy breath and leaned my head back. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead thanking God and everyone out there.

"Let's finish this." Dr. Simmons said and I saw in his eyes he was smiling.

"And the last stitch is finished." Dr. Simmons said after one hour when I finished the sewing and put the tools on the trey.

"Congratulations Dr. Cruz." He said smiling at me and I looked at him quizzically. "The youngest patient surgery of aneurysm in England and being it the princess? We just made a history." He said and the nurses and doctors clapped looking at us and smiling. But the only thing that mattered to me was that Rosie was going to be okay.

"Let's go to tell the good news." He said.

"I am going to accompany her to the ICU first." I said and I helped the nurses taking Rosie to her room. I made sure everything was set correctly and then I went to wash. I got the surgery robe into the basket and walked in my scrubs and cap into the elevator followed by Dr. Simmons and Dr. Harrison.

"I am so thankfull Dr. Simmons and Dr. Cruz that you came and helped us. The offer for the job in our hospital still stands." Dr. Harrison told us.

"Thank you. I will think about it." I replied. I leaned my back on the wall of the elevator and rested my head on it. I closed my eyes. We made it. The relief spread through my whole body and I felt so tired. I heard to open the door on the elevator and I opened my eyes. I saw everyone nervously and expectedly looking at us as we stepped out. My eyes met with Henrys immediately. He was standing next to his father, Emma and Adele. I looked at her surprised. What was she doing here?

"How is she?" Emily asked me with fear in her eyes as she and Philip came closer to me.

"The surgery was succesfull, Rosie was placed in the ICU, she is doing well and she will be okay." I replied smiling at her.

"Oh." She started to cry as she put her hands on her mouth and Philip hugged her thightly smiling.

"Thank goodness." Henry said as Emma hugged him and I saw a tear got out of Kings eyes.

"Thank you." Emily said to me and hugged me thightly. I saw Philip thanking Dr. Simmons as Dr. Harrison was looking at us smiling.

"Can we see her now?" Philip asked me.

"I am sorry but not yet. She just came straight from the OR." I said and he nodded.

"As long as she is fine." He said smiling at me.

"When can we take her home?" Emily asked me.

"She will have to stay here at least for a week. Then you can take her home but you have to have some medical stuff helping you. She is going to be fragile for a while. But when she get through that she will be okay." I said to her.

"Thank you so much." Philip said and hugged me too.

Then it was Henry who came to me and he took me into his arms. I wrapped my hands around him. I was so reliefed it was over and happy he was there.

"You made it. I knew you would." He said to me smiling at me and he pressed his lips on mine. His sweet kiss was just what I needed. He believed in me when I was in a doubt of myself. The whole pressure on me I felt from the beginning was finally over and Rosie is okay. I heard someone to clear their throat and I looked behind Henry. It was his father. Henry turned to look at him, his hand still wrapped around my waist.

"I am sorry." His father said to me. "Can you please forgive me?" he asked me with tears in his eyes. I thought I will cry too and in such an emotional turmoil I nodded and he smiled at me.

"Thank you for saving my granddaughter." He said and offered me his hand and I shook it.

"You don't have to thank me. It was a team work." I replied and looked at Dr. Simmons.

"Thank you." Henry's father turned to him.

"It was my honor Your Majesty." Dr. Simmons replied. "Now if you please excuse me my patients in Knights are waiting for me." He said and walked away accompanied by Dr. Harrison.

"Oh Arthur and your stubborness." Adele came to him. "I thought I will have to have a serious talk with you but you finally came to your senses. But did it really had to take your granddaughters life at risk for you to realize that this girl is the best thing for your son?" Adele said to him and he shrugged.

"Stop preaching Adele. We all learn from our mistakes." He told her. "But thank you for being here for us." He told her and she smiled at him.

"Oh, well we are almost like a family. And I am not here only because of you." She said to him and looked at me lovingly. He was looking at her confused. She came to me and hugged me.

"I am so proud of you." She told me looking at my face stroking my cheek.

"Thank you for being here grandma." I smiled at her.

"Grandma?" Emma asked from behind her. "No Eva. Adele is not our grandmother only really good friend of our family." Emma tried to explain me when she tought I made a mistake but me, Henry and Adele laughed. Everyone looked at us confused.

"Oh Henry didn't told you?" Adele looked at him surprised.

"There wasn't appropriate time for that." He shrugged.

"My dear. She can call me grandma because I really am her grandmother." Adele said to her. Emma looked at us with opened mouth and everyone was starring at us shocked.

"Wait what?" Philip asked.

"Oh my God. You are Elisabeth's daughter." Henry's father said looking at me in disbelief.

"Exactly." Adele said sadly.

"Now I can see the resemblance." He said still looking at me shocked.

"But wait. I still don't understand." Emma said.

"That is a long story." I said smiling at her.

After some explaining to her about my origin I then went to look at Rose and made sure everything was okay. After that I went to take a shower and met with the family at their private room and I let Emily and Philip to visit Rose in the ICU. When we came back to their room Emma and Henry were sitting on the couch watching TV.

"Come here." Henry told me with his arms opened. I came to him and he pulled me to sit on his lap.

"What are you watching?" Philip asked them.

"Father went in front of the hospital to inform the public." He replied and Emily and Philip sat down on the other sofa as the King walked out of the hospital.

"Where is grandma?" I asked Henry.

"That is really weird." Emma said. "Sorry I can't get used to it. She went back home." She replied and I laughed. I looked at the TV. There had to be hundreds of people out there. Waiting to know if their princess is okay. Henry's father confidently stood in front of the cameras and started his speech.

"Thank you everyone for being here and praying for the well being of Princess Rose. I am really glad that I can inform you that the surgery she went through was succesfull and Princess Rose is doing well." He said and there were claps from the crowds. Henry smiled at me as we saw that the people were also happy. I noticed they had signs with "We are preying for Princess Rose." And "Get well soon." And "We love Princess Rose."

"Prince Philip with his wife Emily are now with her and they are also thankful for your preyers. They want to thank the staff of the hospital for being helpful and kind in this hard situation. And last but not least. Prince Philip, Princess Emily and I want to thank the most important people thanks to whom is Princess Rose alive. They were under a huge pressure as they performed surgery which wasn't done in England yet. Their professionalism and calmness was extraordinary. This huge thank you belongs to Dr. Richard Simmons and Dr. Eva Cruz who did their best to save our Princess." he said and the crowd started to get loud murmer and started to clap. "Thank you." He finished and walked away from the stairs into prepared car as the crowd out there got louder. I was starring at the screen.

"I thought it was private." I said to Henry shocked that the King publicly declared mine and Dr. Simmons name.

"Why would it be? We are thankfull for what you have done and you two deserve to be known." Philip replied.
