Chapter 12
(Picture of Henry)
Chapter 12
"Where are we going?" I asked him as we were already driving through the streets.
"I have to take care of something first. I hope you don't mind and maybe you will enjoy it as I do." he smiled at me.
"Will you tell me what it is?" I asked him suspiciously. The only thing that crossed my mind was that he will want to go to club at first.
"It is a surprise." he smiled at me
"Do you do this thing often?" I asked him to have at least some clue.
"Not often enough. Once per month, but particularly this thing once in a while." he replied.
"Are we going into a club?" I asked because that was really not what I would like to do right now.
He laughed. God his laugher gave me chills. He was so beautiful when he smiled. I don't remember seeing him smiling on any of the pictures I saw. He had always such serious and concentrated expression on his face. Why doesn't he smile on them? He is really handsome when he does.
"Don't you like surprises?" he asked amused.
"Not really." I answered.
"No, we are not going to club. I don't like clubbing." he grimaced. I raised my eyes in surprise when he looked at me.
"Are you going to claim that you don't like clubbing when there are so many pictures of you leaving them with so many women?" I asked him.
"Were you googling me?" he asked amused. "Because I could swear that when we first met, you didn't had any idea who I was." he said and I blushed. Damn it, that is embarrassing. I couldn't be a spy for sure.
"Maybe? And you are correct. I didn't know who you were when we first met " I said as I turned my head to look from the window. "That is why I googled you." I added.
"Then I hope you will change your opinion on me, because what the tabloids write about me isn't true." he sighed and I was looking at him trying to find the true.
"We are here." He said and pointed in front of us where he parked.
"The toy store?" I asked surprised. He nodded with huge irresistible grin on his face.
"Let's go." he said excitedly and went to open my door for me.
"We have thirty minutes." he said to me as he looked on his wrist watch when we came in front of the entrance to the store.
"Thirty minutes for what?" I asked confused but he run to the trolleys and then he came to me pushing two of them in front of him.
"Here. This one is for you." he pushed one for me and was still grinning from ear to ear at me like a little kid.
"I still don't understand." I laughed as his good mood was quite catchy.
"Here are the rules. Put everything you like into the trolley. For whatever age group. For girls and boys too. And no more questions." he looked at me focused and then looked at the clock. "As I said before, we have only thirty minutes. So, one, two, three. Go, go, go, go, go." he said and we entered the store together laughing. I put into the trolley dolls, social games, a few toys for little kids under one year and few cars as I was thinking that he must be crazy. Then we met in the middle and we picked a few other toys together. We had so much fun and laughed at ourselves as we were trying to find out how some of the toys work. I didn't felt this carefree for so long. When we got our trolleys full we went to the cashier. She was looking at us if we were crazy when she saw our trolleys. She didn't recognized him. His cover worked and I just smiled at that. We put all the toys into the car and were heading into east part of London. I didn't asked anymore because he would say it was a surprise so we chatted for a while until we stopped in front of huge old building. I looked up and there was a big sign that said "Abbot Orphanage." I smiled and looked at him. He was smiling back.
"So, are we going to make the little bugs smile for a while?" he asked me and I nodded.
"Will they let us in?" I asked when we were taking the toys from the car.
"Yes. I got it arranged already. Sister Mary knows about this. But we have only one hour until the kids will go to sleep." as he said that an old lady in her black nun habit came from the door to us. She smiled and went to hug Henry.
"Oh, Henry the kids will love that you came to see them again." she said. Again? That surprised me. So he wasn't lying when he said that he have done this before. "Oh and you brought a girl with you?" she looked at me and I greeted her.
"Sister Mary this is my friend Eva. Eva this is sister Mary." he introduced us.
I offered her a hand for a hand shake but she caught me off guard and hugged me.
"Welcome Eva." she smiled at me.
"Thank you." I laughed.
"Come on in." she said and went to hold the door for us as we had our hands full. We entered into a long hallway. On the left there was a staircase and on the right there was an opened door to the dining room. We went to the last door of the hallway and entered a big dayroom full of kids. When they saw Henry they started to scream and were running towards him.
"Henry is here." one of them yelled at the others. "Henry, Henry." there were so many kids screaming and jumping from the joy.
"Hi guys." he shouted and greeted almost every one of them. There were probably forty kids there from the age of two to fifteen I guess. I couldn't take my eyes of the picture which was right in front of me. The kids adored him and he was really happy to see them too.
"What did you brought us today?" a little boy asked him.
"Fred!" I heard Sister Mary to call at him.
"That's ok." Henry said. "I brought you something and someone." he looked at me. "Kids this is Eva."
"Is she your girlfriend?" another little boy asked and we laughed.
"No she is not. She is just a friend." he replied.
"Then will you be my girlfriend?" the boy asked me and I laughed at that.
"Maybe when you will get older." I said to him and he shrugged.
We spend the hour giving the toys to the kids. It was such great feeling to see them smile and laugh and we had a great time. After that we went for a cup of tea and chatted for a while. Nobody recognized him in his cover and nobody where looking at us. He wasn't really the guy the tabloids claimed he was. I felt really comfortable in his presence and we laughed a lot. He was funny and caring. He explained to me that he was doing this toy and even clothes thing with his mother. She was doing this with him and his siblings when they were kids. They went out undercover and bought the toys and went to the orphanage and he wanted to continue in her legacy.
"Thank you for the incredible evening." I told him as we got out of the car in front of our building.
"I am glad you liked it." he said to me.
"So, did I change your opinion on me at least a bit?" he slowly paced to me. "Or my reputation from tabloids still exceeds me?" he came even closer to me, my heart was beating like crazy and I thought it will jump from my chest.
"It changed a little bit." I whispered as his face was slowly bending down to mine. His piercing blue eyes were looking into mine and I felt like he was looking straight to my soul.
"Gosh, you are so beautiful." he said and placed his hand onto my cheek and the other one on my hip. God damn it, I wanted to kiss him the whole evening and I no longer couldn't stand it. I pressed my lips to his and closed my eyes. My hands wrapped around his neck. He pulled me closer to him and our tongues danced in their own routine. We pulled from each other to take a breath and he rested his forehead on mine.
"I guess there goes the "only friends" thing." he laughed.
