Chapter 24.

Chapter 24

Friday morning was a nightmare. After I left Lydia's party on Wednesday, I went home. I was the lucky one unlike everyone else. Allison's mother committed suicide last night. Allison wasn't even the one to tell me, so I couldn't exactly ask what had happened, but I knew that I couldn't bring that kind of question up around Allison even if I texted or called her. Right now, I could only presume she wanted to be alone with her family and grieve. Not only that, but after the party Scott and Stiles went to the sheriff's station tell Stiles' dad that they knew Matt was behind all the mysterious killings around town. In a turn for the worse, Matt showed up and held all three hostage while forcing them to destroy all the evidence against the recent murders. Then apparently Derek showed up and him as well as Stiles when paralyzed by Jackson. This is the part of the story when Stiles then explained to me how awkward it was laying on Derek's chest before he was pushed off by Matt. If the situation couldn't get any worse from here—well this is Beacon Hills, so it was possible—Melissa, Scott's mom, showed up at the station to. To sum up the rest of their evening Scott got shot; Melissa and the Sheriff where locked up; then the Argents came in basically shot the place up, along with a vengeful Allison; Melissa saw the kanima Jackson, Derek, and Scott, fighting and found out the Scott was a werewolf; then Gerard drowned Matt in a small stream behind the sheriff's station.

Currently, I was sitting in the back of history class whispering to Isaac about the other night. He didn't come to school yesterday because Derek wanted him, Boyd, and Erica, back at their abandoned warehouse after the Argents when crazy on Wednesday. Today, we had to work on a worksheet, but it was so easy it only took a few minutes. The class wasn't very full so it was easy to talk and not have anyone over hear us in the back. "And Scott said that when Matt was younger that the swim team your dad coached back in like 2006 or something. Said something about the team just winning the state, and your dad inviting them over and letting them drink or something."

"I remember that night, he was going to trade action figures with me." Isaac answered.

I smiled cheekily, "Trading dolls? Really?"

He scoffed quietly. "They were action figures," he defended quietly.

"Danny never played with that kind of stuff."

"Danny's gay," Isaac pointed out.

I scoffed playfully, "What's that supposed to mean?"

Isaac gave me a knowing look and I shrugged knowing what he meant. Danny was a different child after all. "But anyway, Matt apparently heard the music and went over to the party and your brother, Camden, threw him in the pool."

"I don't remember that happening," Isaac mentioned.

"Was it before or after your doll trade? That might have made a difference if you would have payed any attention or not," I joked lightly.

He gave me a blank look. "Ha ha Jamie, very funny. But if Camden did throw Matt in, it wouldn't have been out of his character. He did that to me all the time when I was younger and he was still alive," he ended in a frown.

I frowned slightly with him and grabbed his hand and held it low so the teacher couldn't see, and squeezed it gently before letting go. He smiled slightly and I continued. "You know by now that he couldn't swim so he started drowning. Your dad pulled him out and threatened him not to tell anyone."

"Wait so why did Matt try to kill those other people?" Isaac questioned.

"The mechanic, the club lady, those campers, your dad, and those others were all at the party that night and none of them helped him out of the pool. That's why he had Jackson go all kanima crazy on their asses and kill them."

"I'm surprised my dad even pulled Matt out to begin with," Isaac accused.

"Would you two stop whispering and get your work done! The bell is about to ring." the teacher yelled back at us. The glared at us before turning back to his paper work, the bell rang seconds later and the class stood up to leave. Isaac and I where about to exit when he stopped us. "Where do you two think your going? This worksheet was a class assignment."

I scoffed quietly, but noticeably. "We where the first ones to turn it in," I answered quickly before dragging Isaac out into the hallway with me.

"You snapped on a teacher."

"Today is not a good day to mess with me," I indicated. We walked down the hallway towards our split. "So Stiles said this morning that yesterday his dad found a bunch of really creepy stalkerish photos of Allison on Matt's computer and camera. Like crazy, crazy. I mean Stiles said Matt had photoshopped himself into the pictures. Stuff like him and Allison holding hands and kissing. Almost like he had built this whole fake relationship with her. So yeah, maybe inviting him over to try and trade your action figures was a bad idea. He ending up drowning in your pool and that's what sent him off the rails."

"At least he's dead," Isaac suggested.

I shrugged, "I guess, but now what's gonna happen with Jackson? Now that we know Gerard killed Matt, he's the master of the kanima."

The past two days have been kinda busy, but tonight was the night. It's the championship lacrosse game and it was a home game. Everyone in town was going to be there, because this was big, huge even, and for a lacrosse enthusiastic town like Beacon Hills, it was a monumental game.

For the past three days, I've tried calling and texting Allison to see how she was, but all I got was a blank voice mail or no reply to my text. I know it has been tough for her, but at least some reply to tell me she was still alive would have been nice. She wasn't at school Thursday or Friday, and I wasn't sure if she'd even be attending the game tonight. Lydia is still kinda off since her party. I've seen her, but she's not the usual Lydia I know and love. I had to talk to her soon before anything gets worse.

"Your gonna do great honey," my mom says over-gushing about Danny who had walked over to our seats on the bleachers.

"Thanks mom, but I need to go," Danny urged. He had only come over to say a quick hi-and-bye, but he shouldn't have knowing our mother.

"I need you to promise me you'll drink plenty of fluids," she warned him. "I don't need you dehydrating out on the field." I cracked a smile and Danny saw and gave me a sarcastic look.

"Okay mom, I need to go now," he insisted. This time walking away.

"Good luck kid," dad yelled while mom shouted something along the lines of, "Stay safe and win!"

"Kick some beaver but Danny! You better not let them score!" I shouted at him. He smiled and gave us a thumbs up before quickly running back to the team only to go out onto the field.

"I hope we win," my mom confessed as she munched on a few carrot sticks from her bag.

"We have a good team this year, so there's a good chance we will," dad said to her. "Wait why is '#11' not on the field? Isn't he your friend Jamie?" he inquired looking at the bench.

I glanced over and saw Scott and Stiles sitting side by side. "You mean Scott?" I asked him, and he nodded. "Grade wise he can't play."

"Why about the other one? Besides him?" my mom asked.

"Let's just say Stiles isn't the best player on the team," I said at the exact same time as we watched Stiles jump up from the bench and hastily throw on his helmet and run out onto the field. "Oh my," I whispered to myself more than anyone.

"Oh, no. Why is my son running out to the field?" I heard and I looked down a bench row and saw Sheriff Stilinski and Ms. McCall sitting together.

"Because he's on the team?" Ms. McCall questioned.

The sheriff said something I couldn't hear the jumped from his seat enthusiastically. "He's - he's on the field. My son is on the field!"

Everyone around the Sheriff stared oddly, but caught up in the pre-game excitement I stood up to. "Go Stiles!" I cheered excitedly for him. It was his first game after all.

"Thank you Jamie," the Sheriff smiled back at me.

"No problem. I'm glad he gets to play," I smiled honestly, but I was still really nervous about this. It could end up being a really good, or really bad thing.

My parents began to chit chat with the Sheriff and Ms. McCall before the game started. As they talked among themselves I couldn't help, tug at the sleeves of nervously while glancing around the field. I checked and then double checked each jersey number, but frowned when I didn't find the '#14'. As if my mom knew who I was searching for she had to bring it up in front of other parents as well. "Jamie's boyfriends on the team to," my mom said proudly and I blushed. The two parents went through the whole 'I didn't know you were dating someone' thing, and I nodded sheepishly. I saw my mom glance around the field and the benches and furrow her eye brows, "Where is Isaac by the way?"

"I don't know," I answered quickly. "I think I'm gonna go ask Scott since I thought he said he saw Isaac early today." I indicated as I slide away from my parents and down towards Scott on the side lines. I walked up right behind him and was about to say hey, but when I noticed him frozen I assumed he was listening to something. Suddenly he turned around to look at me with wide eyes. "Scott?" I said wearily. "What did you hear?"

"Gerard," he quaked. "And he's gonna have Jackson kills some if I don't tell him where Derek is by the end of the night."

"Jackson?" I said quizzically. "He's playing?" I glanced around the field quickly, and he wasn't too hard to spot after all. It was Jackson Whittlemore we're talking about and he was one of the best players on the team, co-captain to be exact, so he's obviously the attackman (position in lacrosse). "I didn't even know he was still playing!" I said as the referees whistle blew.

"Neither did I. I didn't plan on coming until Isaac told me Jackson was gonna be here," Scott admitted. I understood why he didn't want to come, with everything going on in his life, he must be so stressed out. Lacrosse was almost meaningless to him right now.

I sat down next to Scott on the bench and we watch Stiles struggle on the field trying to pick up the ball, but every time he'd be tackled to the ground by beaver players. The sight wasn't pretty and practically the entire crowd cringed.

"Hey, I actually wanted to ask you where Isaac was?"

Scott looked at me shocked, "He didn't tell you?"

I stared at Scott blankly. "Tell me what? That wasn't coming to the game?" Scott looked really nervous and was about to answer when the referee blew his whistle. The score was 4-0 and the game was all in favor of the beavers winning. "You need to get out there Scott."

He nodded and jumped from his seat, but Coach Finstock came over and blew a whistle in his face. "Sit down, McCall," he shouted.

"Seriously coach, we're dying out there," I urged.

"Oh, I'm aware of that. Now sit McCall, and when did you get here Māhealani?" Coach yelled loudly.

"Um..." I didn't have time to answer before he marched away.

Suddenly, I felt a body sit down beside me and I smiled brightly at Isaac. "You're here, finally!" I cheered.

"You came to help," Scott said almost disbelievingly.

"I came to win," Isaac clearly glaring at Gerard in the background as he put his gloves on and prepared to go in. "I'm sorry I couldn't hangout I had... issues today, but I figured it all out now."

I smiled. "Well I'm glad you did? Maybe tomorrow then?"

"I promise," Isaac said nodded before looking over me at Scott. "You got a plan yet?"

"No, right now it's pretty much just keep Jackson from killing anyone."

"Well, that might be easier if you're actually in the game. We have to make it so coach has no choice but to play you."

"How do we do that?" Scott questioned him. "He's got a bench full of guys he can use before he ever puts me on the field."

"Well one of them is Greenberg so we know he's not going on the field if coach can help in," I added.

Scott sighed and looked at Isaac. "Can you do it without putting anyone in the hospital?"

"I can try," Isaac answered before quickly pecking my lips, sliding on his helmet, and running out onto the field.

"Just don't hit Danny!" I shouted at him and he gave me a thumbs up as he ran onto the field. "I swear to god if either one of them get hurt," I mumbled under my breath.

Scott just laughed lightly before the whistle blew again. Seconds Isaac decked into the first Beacon Hills player he saw. I cringed at the sight and coach yelled in for a replacement, and the players switched places. Just like the first time, Isaac run into another player and sent him flying right in front of the benches. Coach again switched players out and scolded Isaac for injuring yet another player. He was about to do it again for the last time, but when the whistle blew, instead of Isaac throwing down players his body, collided with the ground. I gasped and jumped up from my seat in shock, and when I saw Jackson take off his helmet smirking, I felt the need to strangle him.

I ran from beside Scott out onto the field beside Isaac. Scott was beside me in an instant. The grass was wet and was sure to stain my short but at the moment I could care less. "Oh my god are you okay?" I asked my breathing crazy. I watch as his face flushed with pain.

"It's not broken," he answered and I sighed in relief. "But I can't move it. I think Jackson nicked me 'cause I can feel it spreading. Please don't let her get hurt Scott. She's all I have left." Isaac said as he was lifted onto a gurney and taken off the field.

I was about in tears already, but when Isaac said that I couldn't help, but let one slip past. I was about to follow the paramedics that lifted Isaac up, but the one guy held a hand out. "I'm sorry miss, but you can't come with us."

"Are you serious!" I frowned in disbelief.

"It's okay Jamie. Please just stay with Scott, he'll protect you right now," Isaac said as they took him off the field.

A few more tears fell down my face, "But I don't wanna be protected by Scott, I wanna be protected by you Isaac!"
