Chapter 1O.

I shivered as my feet touched the cold hardwood floors that ran throughout the entire house. Softly, I padded down the stairs and followed the sound of the kitchen radio playing softly. It was Monday morning, so Danny and I were left alone in the house as out parents had already left for work. I was in the mood for my dad's blueberry pancakes like I had had for the past few mornings, but I was disappointed knowing he wasn't down there laboring away over a butter covered pan. But I smiled when I saw Danny scarfing down a bowl of cereal. When he noticed me he smiled back, his mouth full of cheerios.

Danny continued to eat, while I poured my own bowl for breakfast. I slide in the bar stool next to him and began eating quietly. "I didn't hear you at all last night," he said cautiously.

"Yeah, I guess I so," I finish the conversation. I didn't particularly want to talk about it anymore than I had to, and the fact that everyone keeps reminding me makes me feel even worse. It brought this sick twisted feeling inside I just couldn't shake off.

He could tell I was done talking about it so he changed the topic, telling me that I would have to drive myself since there was going to practice. I replied saying I was leaving early, I also told him that I would be stopping at the gas station so if he wanted coffee or something, he should tell me before I came back down. I then proceeded to climb the stairwell back to my bedroom. I took a deep breath entering my room. Usually, I would be glad to have alone time, but sadly, it terrified me now. After the other night, I couldn't stand to be alone.

My room was still tidy from my cleaning parade I had the other day, but the only thing that had changed was were I had place my chair. It had moved from one corner of my room to the other, covering the end of the window. A throw blanket was tossed oddly over the back, as well as the curtain being fulled closed, and both my windows covered and locked. I know it wouldn't stop him if he decided he want to get in, but I gave me some sense of security.

Slowly, I pulled on my  and slipped into my sandals, then I grabbed my backpack. I glanced back at my chair and towards my window, before turning out of my room, shutting the door behind me. Going back down stairs, I grabbed my lunch, which my lovely mother had packed the night before, from the fridge along with my filled water bottle. I took the family gas card and my keys from the mudroom off of the back porch.

"Hey Jamie, do you think you could just get me a pack of starbursts and a bottle of either pepsi or dr. pepper, something like that?" Danny called out to me as he rinsed his bowl in the sink.

"Yeah, anything else?"

"If I know you well enough—which I do—you're going to stop at that one gas station that's connected to the donut shop, so when you go pick me up something."

"What makes you say that I'm stopping there? There are plenty of other gas stations in town," I joke.

"One, I know you too well; two because you barely ate anything for breakfast; and finally, because your leaving twenty minutes earlier than you usually do," he lists.

I groan loudly, "Okay, maybe I am going there."

Danny smirked, "I knew it."

"Whatever now, I'm leaving," I smile closing the back door behind me. I climbed in tossing my backpack, wristlet, lunch bag, and everything else into the passenger seat. Before I pulled out I threw a jacket in the backseat of my car, just in case the temperatures dropped and I was still out. Picking up my phone, I text my mom and Lydia. My mom informing her I just left for school with, and Lydia asking her if she wanted anything before I arrived. My phone went into the cup holder, before I backed out of the driveway and headed the opposite direction of school.

Beacon Hills was a small town, there weren't many big chains like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts, no we had old ma and pa shops and restaurants that stretched from both ends of town. Although, we were lucky enough to be only about twenty miles south of a large town with a over sized mall and enough restaurants to last a while. But after living in a small town all your life, you know the places to go, to get the best. About two miles near the outskirts of town, connected to an old Shell gas station, was the best donut shop in town—Debbie's Donuts. It didn't matter if you lived on the opposite side of town, or only a few miles away like me, everyone went to Debbie's Donuts.

Passerbyers would never expect a place as odd looking, and dingy to have to best donut of their life. Another bonus was that gas was usually cheaper here, than most other parts of town. The dimly light sign for two dollars a gallon, had me dancing in my seat as I pulled in. Not in any kind of rush, I took my time pulling myself together and pulling out the keys, before walking around to the pump. It was slightly busy, with all six fueling stations full, along with a large semi, near the entrance, and several old people filtering in to Debbie's, but then again with the number of elders in and out of the shop in the morning, it wasn't unusual for slightly heavier traffic.

My tank was nearly empty when I pulled in so I stood there for quite a while, watching the action all around me. When I was finished at the pump, I climbed back into my car and drove the few feet up to the doors. I grabbed my wristlet and phone before entering into actually gas station first. I roam the isles I grabbed Danny's starbursts and drink as well as a pack of gum for myself. Patiently, I waited at the check out and payed for the three items before walking into Debbie's. The chatter of old people filled the room, mostly filled by Beacon Hills Crossing Home elders.

"Good morning Jamie, I haven't seen you in a while, how are you?" Miss Debbie, the owner smiled from behind the counter when she saw me. The few old people she was talking to turned around and smiled at me.

I grinned back, "Yeah, there's just been a lot going on at home and at school, I really haven't had time to stop in."

Debbie nods, "I'm glad you've been staying at home, with all these strange attacks." I nodded. Sometimes you just do that with old people. Even though there hasn't been an attack in a few weeks, I still knew she meant all good.

"Especially after what happened last night," an older man with graying hair said from a bar stool a few seats down.

My brow furrowed and I gave him a puzzled look. I didn't exactly want to know what happened, but I still found myself asking. "What happened last night Sir?"

"Haven't you heard," a lady next to him spoke up. "There was an attack at Armor Tire's last night," I gasped.

"His name was Tucker Cornish," the old man said adjusting his glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Says right here that the Sheriff wouldn't disclose any information on the attack, but says his son was the one to call in the report."

"That's awful! Did he live?" I look to Debbie who sadly shook her head.

I didn't say anymore, either did the two elders, it was Debbie who spoke up first. "Why don't I take your order Jamie, so you can get to school on time."

I nod, "How about four glazed, three with chocolate, three with sprinkles, one jellied filled, and whatever that one is right there I point to a donut in the front of the case." She smiles and grabs the one in the front first, before filling the rest of the pink box with a multitude of different donuts.

I handed over fifteen bucks and smiled before waving at them before heading towards the door. I was almost out when I heard the old lady from the counter, "Young lady, it's too cold for you to be wandering out and about without a sweater!"

Internally, I snickered, but nodded. "I put a jacket in the back of my car this morning, I'll put it on when I get to school ma'am."

Opening the door outside, I was suddenly stopped when I looked across the street into the woods and saw glowing eyes. My heart began to race, when all of a sudden as strong gust of wind pushed me. I flipped my hair out of my face to see the large eighteen wheeler pulling out on to the street. My hands began to shake with the box of donuts moving slightly. But as soon as the truck passed, I searched the woods opposite of the street and saw absolutely nothing. Nothing. Still, I hurried to my car scarred of what was in broad daylight.

The door slammed loudly, and I locked myself inside the safety of my own vehicle. As far as I knew, this was the safest place for me to be. The keys started the SUV, and I turned on the radio so I wouldn't dwell in my own silence. School was nearly a ten minute trip, but it was pleasant as I ate my donut and drove. I pulled into the school and nearly ran over a kid, in which I rolled down my window down and offer Greenburg a donut, to which he took greedily.

I continued on my way, parking near the front of the school. I wasn't eager to get out, there was still several minutes before the first bell rang. The radio was still on as I sat in my seat scrolling through my phone, but every time I looked up people gave me odd looks. It was a common pattern that I began noticing; they would walk up the sidewalk from the back parking lot and turn to the front of my car which they stared at me before heading towards the main entrance.

Suddenly, a face was pushed up against my window, and I jumped in my seat screaming slightly. I was shocked to say the least, when I say none other than Stiles Stilinski's face pressed against the window pane. Scott in the spot of my rear view mirror examining the back of my SUV, wide eyed. "What the heck are you two doing?"

"Uhhh," he started stuttering. "Checking out your car," he tried playing off. I gave him a blank stare before pushing him out of the way with my car door.

"Hey Jamie, did you go anywhere this morning?" Scott asked me from the back of my car, at the same time I pulled my backpack, wristlt, lunch bag, and box of donuts from my passenger seat.

"Yeah, stopped at Debbie's this morning, why? Oh and I brought you guys one if you'd like. Just save a chocolate one for Danny though," I pointed out.

"Oh yes please," Stiles say happily, as I open the box for him. With a full bite in his mouth he spoke, "But you really need to check this out." He said pointing towards Scott.

I looked at Scott as he stood near my trunk. "Why? What's wrong Scott?" I walked back towards the trunk, and at the sight I dropped my box of donuts. They clattered to the ground, but that didn't matter at the moment. My hand went to cover my mouth. "Oh my god," I breathed.

Scott looked at me with all seriousness. "Jamie, I need you to be completely honest with me." He spoke authoritatively, and I felt something rush over me as he spoke. I felt like I had to do whatever he asked. "Have you seen Isaac?"

Hesitantly, I nodded, as Scott, Stiles, and I looked at the large claw marks stretching across the back of my car.

Later that afternoon, I drove home in a rush. My day had turned for the worse when it suddenly started pouring around lunch. I had spent most of the day avoiding Scott and Stiles who kept questioning me about Isaac, asking me questions I didn't know the answers to. Although I hesitated, when Scott asked me if I knew what had happened to him. It was still pouring as I turn into my driveway. I decided to leave my backpack in the car and only bring in what I needed. Quickly, I searched my car for my umbrella, to my distress, I couldn't find it. I jumped into the middle of my car to check the trunk for my jacket, and was shocked to find it missing. I groaned loudly climbing to the front and stomping out of my car into the house. I was also unlucky enough to have an outdoor parking space.

Drenched in rain, I entered the empty house, tossing my phone and keys onto the table, before storming back out the the shed in the backyard. I stood in my dress and sandals as I tried to unlock the shed as quickly as I could. When I heard the click, I pulled the door open not caring about the spiders and other weird bugs. I only searched for a few things. Finding what I was looking for, I locked the shed and marched back into the house. My sandals slid off of my slippery feet easily and I stormed up the stairs. Furiously I swung open my bedroom door and shoved my chair back and push my curtain out of the way. To look at the sight that had horrified me for nights.

Quickly, I flip of the lid of plaster and grab a giant chunk before rubbing it into the giant claw marks identical to the ones on my car.
