A Step Closer to Me by The_Musician
Q: How long have you been on Wattpad and what makes you stay?
A: I've been on Wattpad since 2012 and am still here because of my constantly growing passion for writing. I first started out when I was in middle school, but I didn't truly dive into creating full length books until after I graduated from college with a BA in Creative Writing. Ambassador-run contests have helped me develop my skills over the years too, which has helped me become a better writer overall. It's also just really nice to be part of such a large community filled with really nice people.
Q: Tell us how you came up with this story, what was your inspiration?
A: I'm the type of person who finds comfort in literature, and I want to give my readers that same sense of safety when they read my works. There are a lot of lines and quotes in this book that genuinely impact me as a person (even if I wrote them) because they're things I've always wanted to hear but never truly did. A Step Closer to Me acts as a launching point for people to empathize with real world problems, as well as understanding how the road to recovery is never just a straight, clean path.
Q: Describe the main characters of this story and how you connect with them.
A: Roman Indigo, the main character, is the type of person who has a hard time relaxing because he believes his worth comes from how much he can give. He's a people pleaser and has the tendency to go above and beyond for people to make sure they don't face the same hardships he does. I empathize really closely with Roman because I, myself, have a hard time when it comes to doing things for myself. I have the tendency to make sure everyone around me is taken care of first; and I know a lot of people know what that feels like.
Jensen Reed, the love interest, is the type of person who does whatever he can to keep smiles on his loved ones' faces. He genuinely listens, he gives advice when it's needed, and he acts as a ray of sunshine for those around him because he knows what it's like to be trapped in the dark. I, myself, have gone through some very dark, distressing periods of my life, and, just like Jensen, I do what I can to help lighten whatever burdens my loved ones may be going through.
Q: What makes you keep going with this story?
A: It feels like it's not just my story. A lot of people all over the world will be able to connect with the characters and their issues. Seeing how they learn to overcome their fears and triumph over their greatest pains could give my readers the courage to do so as well in their own lives. A Step Closer to Me is my way of telling my readers their feelings are valid and that, even though it can be scary, changing for the sake of positive self growth is worth it in the end.
Q: Looking back at the story you wrote so far, is there anything you would have done differently?
A: Sometimes, I do wish my scenes could be a little more fleshed out when it comes to my expository sections. I have no issues when it comes to moving the plot along through character conversations, but I do have the tendency to rush when I'm just narrating. A Step Closer to Me is a slow burn romance, so, as I progress, I'd like to work on taking things slower to really stay in the moment.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a writer?
A: Interacting with my community after posting a new chapter. It's really amusing when my fans get emotional to the point where they're spamming comments because of their excitement!
Q: Do you want to share a message with Wattpad?
A: While your books may be something you do for a wider audience, don't forget that your writing is also for you. You're an artist, and it takes a lot of courage and hard work to bring your craft to life. Be proud of yourself for what you put out, even if the only person who sees it is you.
Q: Would you like to tag any of your friends or supporters and leave them a message?
A: I would like to tag @extremely_will as they have been reading A Step Closer to Me, pretty much since the very beginning, and they vote for almost every chapter they read. Even though they don't leave any comments (which is fine!), it's a big motivator to know that they look forward to my weekly updates. Thanks for being awesome!

Die a Horrid Death, Arlo Crowhaven by Exequinne
Q: How long have you been on Wattpad and what makes you stay?
A: I am celebrating my 10th Anniversary this November 30th! How cool is that? Wattpad has always been an avenue for me to have that author-like feel where I have full creative control on what stories I release into the wild.
Q: Tell us how you came up with this story, what was your inspiration?
A: I have always been interested in making a mystery series, a dark academia series, and an ONC series which will span years, so what better way than to combine all of that into one mega series!
Q: Describe the main characters of this story and how you connect with them.
A: Arlo Crowhaven is the perfect example of Static Gray MC™️, and he is my intrusive thoughts personified. He is also an asexual/aromantic like me! The rest of the cast are just chaotic, gray beings that I personally love writing.
Q: What makes you keep going with this story?
A: The characters, the world, and the overall direction this series is going. I love every bit of the experience. Uwu.
Q: Looking back at the story you wrote so far, is there anything you would have done differently?
A: Nope. I am pretty satisfied with how it went down, and given its recent achievements, I'd say a lot of people are too!
Q: What is your favorite part of being a writer?
A: The sense of control I have in my characters and plot, as well as the god complex I get to enjoy creatively.
Q: Do you want to share a message with wattpad?
A: Thank you for such a great platform, and for giving me a chance to exercise my creativity as well as serve the community as an Ambassador.
Q: Would you like to tag any of your friends or supporters and leave them a message?
A:My SWF fam - @TessaTuring, @AmnerisTenjo, @Waterbender_poet
My chaotic fluffs - @SuVida777, @TypedInk_, @the-reticent-seer, and @Ry-reader-29
My Ambassador Fam - @Megzcat, @browncasom, and @Rindouu
Thanks so much for your presence that makes this entire experience memorable. :)

Daegelus | Volume One: Subject 0333 by TateCsernis
Q: How long have you been on Wattpad and what makes you stay?
A: 4 years. My loyal readers and followers.
Q: Tell us how you came up with this story, what was your inspiration?
A: I was inspired by an old series I wrote 10 years ago, using some of the characters from it, as well as others in my universe, where all my stories take place
Q: Describe the main characters of this story and how you connect with them.
A: Each character I write is a part of myself. In this story, Elijah represents my traumatic past and search for identity. He appears very strong and standoffish, but under the facade, he's depressed by the fact that he might never see the man he loves again and is ruled by desperation and rage.
Q: What makes you keep going with this story?
A: It is a part of my massive series, which I aim to continue writing until I physically no longer can. Writing and this universe are everything to me.
Q: Looking back at the story you wrote so far, is there anything you would have done differently?
A: I planned to have Elijah and Jake have some sort of friends with benefits relationship, but Elijah's love for Haru and determination to find him stopped that from happening. It's his world, I'm just writing it lol
Q: What is your favorite part of being a writer?
A: Not only being able to create this massive universe and write amazing characters, but to give my loyal readers and new ones a lot of content that they can enjoy and relate with.
Q: Do you want to share a message with Wattpad?
A: If there was anything pride-related that I'd like to say to Wattpad itself, it would be to support and lift up more LGBTQ writers, especially the smaller ones. We need to see more queer content.

SILVER EYES (GXG) by Ava_night_Writer
(Congratulations on Winning the Watty's 2024!)
Q: How long have you been on Wattpad and what makes you stay?
A: I love how supportive everyone is! Since I started writing, I have received nothing but love and warm comments from everyone.
Q: Tell us how you came up with this story, what was your inspiration?
A: I've always liked science fiction and dystopian stories. I love debating how the future could unfold. With the arrival of smartwatches, I started thinking about how this technology could escalate and the importance we now place on data. That's when the story began to take shape in my mind: What if the world ended up divided into two sides, one where people rely on technology and data, and the other where they depend on nature? What if two women from these opposing sides fell in love? (Because, of course, everything I write has to feature LGBTQ+ characters!) And that's how Silver Eyes was born.
Q: Describe the main characters of this story and how you connect with them.
A: The main character, Grace, is impulsive and passionate. She's been through a lot and really understands how precious life is. I connect with her because she has a strong sense of fairness and doesn't worry too much about following rules, she cares more about doing what's right. I feel like that's something we often miss out on; we spend too much time talking and not enough time taking action against injustices.
The other main character, Heather, is brave, strong, and a natural leader. She knows what's expected of her and always steps up. I love her character because of how much she grows throughout the story. I don't want to spoil anything, but Heather has to break out of her shell, and that's something I can really relate to.
Q: What makes you keep going with this story?
A: I just love how the story is coming together and can't get enough of it. Seeing the comments and feedback from readers helps me stay motivated, they're the best!
Q: Looking back at the story you wrote so far, is there anything you would have done differently?
A: So many things! Hahaha! Every time I read it, I spot things I'd do differently, but that's what editing is for! I'm polishing the story and enjoying every part of the process!
Q: What is your favorite part of being a writer?
A: I absolutely love the incredible fact that a story that starts in my head can eventually live in other people's minds. It's something that never ceases to amaze me. Watching the characters grow throughout the story and feeling like they've become real is such an awesome experience!
Q: Do you want to share a message with Wattpad?
A: For the people working at Wattpad, I would just say thank you for creating this amazing platform. It's truly incredible that we can read each other's stories from all over the world!
For the wattpad community in general: You're the best!
Q: Would you like to tag any of your friends or supporters and leave them a message?
A: I'm too shy!! I just want to send love to all my readers!! Thank you!!

Beneath the Surface by MiniMoxx
Q: How long have you been on Wattpad and what makes you stay?
A: I've been on Wattpad since 2012, and the community makes me stay! Being amongst writers is what keeps me going; seeing and reading other's work, talking to other writers is what it's all about!
Q: Tell us how you came up with this story, what was your inspiration?
A: It came from a previous short story I was writing and wanted to extend it. Out of the ideas I came up to extend it, I came up with this idea! The jilted bride part of the story was inspired by a random Tweet I saw!
Q: Describe the main characters of this story and how you connect with them.
A: My main character is half Kiwi-half British - which is me! She's also very introspective, which I am as well.
Q: What makes you keep going with this story?
A: It's actually completed offline, but what kept me going whilst writing was the characters - I found them so intriguing that I just had to keep writing to see where they'd take me next.
Q: Looking back at the story you wrote so far, is there anything you would have done differently?
A: I have a few things written down for draft 2, and it's mainly for the first parts of the story to extend and expand but generally I like how the second half went.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a writer?
A: Crafting drafts, creating characters and taking myself - and my readers - on the paths of breaking hearts to mend them again. I also love writing love in so many different ways.
Q: Do you want to share a message with Wattpad?
A: Thank you for sharing your work and being part of the community. It's always amazing to meet other writers and connect!
Q: Would you like to tag any of your friends or supporters and leave them a message?
A: @Oxviola - thank you for being an amazing friend and an epic writer.
