What gave you the inspiration for your story?
✰ Nick and I(Alix) wanted to challenge ourselves to write a romance, but we also wanted to reimagine some of the tropes that were popular in a lot of werewolf stories, and figure out how we thought they, along with a coven of witches, might actually function in the real world.
Did you plot or pants your way through your story?
✰ We absolutely pantsed Wolf & Witch, since we didn't know at the time that we would go on to write additional stories, turning it into a series!
How does writing energize you?
✰ Nick and I love storytelling, so writing provides the perfect opportunity for us to meld that passion into something that we can not only entertain each other with, but can also share with other people. That's really exciting to us!
What are your writing habits? (Or what does your writing space look like?)
✰ We generally spend about 65% of our creative time talking story, and the rest actually writing.
What part of your story was the most enjoyable to write and what was the most challenging?
✰ The most challenging parts of Wolf & Witch to write were the complicated relationship stuff—trying to build a convincing, growing relationship based on attraction, while selling the idea that the characters believe what they're feeling is much deeper, (since they're young, and relatively inexperienced.) But that challenge was also what made those the most enjoyable parts for us to write as well.
What does literary success look like to you?
✰ Making people feel something when they're reading our stories. If a person leaves something we wrote having gone through some emotions, or when they want to reread, then that's success to us.
What is your favorite trope to read and write?
✰ Nick's favorite trope to read and write is rivals to lovers, and mine is friends to lovers.
If you have to describe your writing self in three words, what would they be?
✰ Alix: dialogue heavy, dramatic
Nick: Big. Plot. Wh*re
What's your favorite story on Wattpad?
✰ There are so many we love, but Never Kiss a Vampire by @ajArnault and The Ghost of Winn Peterson by @GrimmInker are at the top of our list!
Why is it important to have diverse voices raised in both our literature and on Wattpad?
✰ Nick and I very much believe that it's important for people to be able to see members of communities they identify with represented because we all deserve to feel seen and understood. But it's also important because art and literature provide a platform where people who don't identify in the same ways, can discover commonalities and compassion for one another.
Is there something that you're working on right now that you're comfortable sharing with our community as a promotion?
✰ Yes! We're currently working on the second book in our Everlasting Legends series, titled "Serellia". It's an lgbtq+ high fantasy, with romance, political drama, and a villainous dragon-riding necromancer! ;D
