The Return of Sherlock and Alexandra Holmes

*One Year Later*

It had been a year since Moriarty had died. Alexandra had grown up a little since it had happened. She and Holmes had dismantled most of the Network that Moriarty had owned. Everyone thought they were dead. Alexandra desperately wanted to reveal herself to Watson, but Holmes said that they must wait until they were absolutely sure that they could. They were still together and loved each other with all their hearts'. One morning, Holmes woke Alexandra up early.

"What?" Alexandra grumbled, tired.

"You have to get up." Holmes said.

"Mr. Holmes, please don't make me." Alexandra said.

"You must." Holmes said. He leaned down and kissed her on the cheek.

"Fine." Alexandra said.

She got up grudgingly and went to get dressed. She saw a snow white dress made of beautiful silk laying on her dresser. She gasped and put her hand over her mouth. She turned to Holmes and saw him grinning and chuckling a little at her.

"I got your size off one of your other dresses." He said.

"Mr. Holmes...this is a wedding dress." Alexandra said, swallowing.

"Yes." Holmes nodded.

"That could only mean that we're getting married." Alexandra said. "Would I be correct?"

"You would." Holmes nodded. Alexandra smiled at him, tears leaking out of her eyes. Holmes rolled his eyes at her. "Stop crying."

"It's my wedding day." Alexandra said, wiping her eyes. "I just wish my brother were here to see it."

"Oh, Miss Watson..." Holmes said. He held her in his arms and let her cry into his shoulder. "I know he would have wanted to be here. He loves you very much. If we have to, we will renew our vows when we return to him."

"Thank you, Mr. Holmes." Alexandra said, lifting her head from his shoulder. "Please don't think that I am ungrateful. I am terribly excited to get married to you. The gown is lovely. It must have cost a fortune."

"Don't you dare worry about it." Holmes said. "Once we are married, we can call each other by our first names."

"You'll always be Mr. Holmes to me." Alexandra grinned.

"And you will always be my Miss Watson." Holmes said, his eyes crinkling when he smiled. He checked his new pocket watch. "Well, we must start getting ready. Our wedding is in a few hours."

Alexandra nodded and rushed into the bathroom to put her dress on. It fit perfectly. She twirled around in it, giggling as if she was young and was trying to flirt with a handsome boy. She covered herself with a dressing gown and went back into the bedroom. Holmes was changing in the walk-in closet. He finally came out. He had also covered himself in a dressing gown. He directed Alexandra to a stool in front of the mirror and had her sit down.

"How shall I do your hair?" He asked.

"You don't have to." Alexandra said.

"But I want to." Holmes said. "Now, how would you like it?"

"Could you curl it slightly?" Alexandra asked.

"Okay..." Holmes said.

He wet Alexandra's hair down and wrapped it around a few strips of cotton. He let them sit for a few minutes and then unwound her hair. Alexandra gasped. It looked beautiful.

"It looks wonderful, Mr. Holmes." She said. "We won't be having any guests, will we?"

"No. The pastor who is marrying us owes me a favor. He told me that he will tell no one of our wedding." Holmes said.

"Are you sure you can trust him?" Alexandra said. Holmes nodded. "Okay, then."

"We must go." Holmes said. "Come along, Miss Watson."

The two of them went outside. Alexandra looked up at the sky. The sun had barely even come up. Holmes pushed her into a carriage and sat down opposite her. Alexandra smiled back at him.

"I can't wait to see how lovely you look in that dress." He said.

"I will tell you that it fits perfectly." Alexandra said. "I bet you look quite handsome in your suit."

"I look like an idiot." Holmes chuckled.

"Then it's not much of a change from how you usually look." Alexandra said, giving him a playful glare.

When they got to the church, Holmes led Alexandra in. He told her to wait at the doors and take off the dressing gown. He would take off his own when he got in the church. When he went in, Alexandra did as he instructed. She put the veil over her face. The church doors opened. Alexandra grinned at Holmes, her heart beating wildly. There was no one there except for the pastor, Holmes, and her. No organ music, even.

The vows were lengthy. Alexandra thought she was going to overheat and faint at one point. Finally, they got to the I dos.

"Do you, Sherlock Holmes, take Alexandra Watson to be your lawfully wedded wife? Do you swear to care for her, in sickness and in health, to love her and no other? To comfort her until death do you part?" The pastor asked.

"I do." Holmes said.

"And you you, Alexandra Watson, take Sherlock Holmes to be your lawfully wedded husband? Do you swear to obey him and respect him? To care for him in sickness and in health? To be loyal to him until death do you part?" The pastor asked. Alexandra sighed and looked up at Holmes.

"Mr. Holmes, I cannot swear to obey you. To do so would be lying. You know what kind of woman I am." Alexandra said. "I hope that how I am now will be enough for you. I can swear, however, that I will be loyal to the very end and that I will love you always."

"I can live with that." Holmes said.

"Then, do you, Alexandra Watson, promise to do all you have sworn?" The pastor asked.

"I do." Alexandra asked.

"Then you may kiss the bride." The pastor said.

Holmes pressed his lips passionately to Alexandra's. She melted into his embrace. She had kissed him on the lips before, but this kiss pushed all the others aside. Alexandra and Holmes broke apart. Holmes was smiling lovingly at her. They both thanked the pastor and walked out of the church in silence. They got into a cab and went back to their hotel. Holmes and Alexandra changed out of their wedding clothes, Alexandra putting the wedding dress carefully in a box. She would save this for later. Their honeymoon would be to go and destroy the rest of Moriarty's vast Network and then go back to John Hamish Watson.

(Three Years Later, a total of four from the time of Holmes and Alexandra's 'deaths'.)

Three years had passed since Alexandra's marriage to Holmes. She was no longer a child who did not listen to anyone, but a mature young woman. Fighting off Moriarty's criminal Network had taught her discipline and shown her just how brutal the world could be. She understood poverty and never wanted to experience it again. There had been days- weeks, even- where she had not eaten. There had been nights where she and Holmes had not been able to have the luxury of a hotel and had slept outside. The nights in winter were the worst. Both of them had nearly frozen to death once. The day had finally come when Alexandra and Holmes could reveal themselves to Watson. Alexandra was worried about her brother's reaction. They both walked into his house. He was not home, and neither was Mary.

"We shall just wait." Holmes said. They went into Watson's study and sat at the table.

About two hours later, they heard the door open and Watson walk in. Watson walked up the stairs. There was never a day that had passed since his sister's death that he did not feel responsible. He should have noticed that she had gone back for Holmes. He missed Holmes terribly, too. He should never have left him alone. When Watson opened the door to his study, he stopped dead. Sitting at his study table was Alexandra Sierra Watson and Sherlock Holmes. He stumbled and clutched the door.

"Nope." He said and fell to the floor. He had fainted.

"John!" Alexandra said, getting up and running to him. Her brother stirred at her voice and opened his eyes. Holmes was also leaning over him.

"Hello, my brother." Alexandra smiled.

"My dear Watson, I owe you a thousand apologies. I had no idea that you would react that way." Holmes said.

"Alexandra, Holmes, is it really you?" He asked, sitting up. "How are you alive? Is it truly possible that you were able to climb out of that awful abyss?"

"Wait a moment. Are you ready to discuss such things, seeing as you fainted when I reappeared?" Holmes asked.

"I'm okay." Watson said. He was not looking at Holmes, but his sister. She looked older. More mature. She stared back.

"John?" She said. "Are you alright?"

"Why did you stay away?" He asked in a whisper. "Why did you have to? Do you know the guilt I felt? I was supposed to take care of you. I thought I failed you as a brother. I thought I lost you, sister."

"John, I am fine. Look at me." Alexandra said. "If anything, I'm better than I was before."

"You let me grieve for you both for four years!" Watson said, his voice rising. Alexandra did not flinch like she would have before. She stared back at her brother calmly. "How can you be so calm when I'm yelling at you?!"

"Because it does not frighten me anymore." Alexandra said. "Now, would you like to know how we survived and what happened or not? You can yell later."

"Fine." Watson said. "Go on."

"Moriarty and I exchanged some remarks. There is no doubt your sister overheard them. Moriarty and I fought and fell to a ledge. Moriarty fell off the ledge and died. I was fully prepared to climb back up, but your sister fell off the top of the cliff and into the water. I had no choice to dive in and rescue her." Holmes said. "She had a few cracked ribs, so that took up a month or two of our time. We spent the rest of these past four years travelling to destroy Moriarty's network. We did not reveal ourselves sooner because it could have put you in danger. I am truly sorry."

"There's one other thing." Alexandra said, fiddling with the ring on her finger. Watson looked at it and gasped.

"You're married." He whispered, looking at them both.

His eyes filled with anger and he attacked Holmes. The chair Holmes was sitting in tipped back and he crashed to the floor. He punched Holmes as Holmes struggled and tried to get him off. Alexandra dragged her brother off of her husband and slapped him.

"John, that is enough!" She shouted. "I thought you would have been happy to know I was alive, as well as Mr. Holmes! I understand why you're upset, I do, but that's no reason to attack my husband!"

John was silent for a minute and then broke down. Holmes did not know what to do. Alexandra, however, did. She got on the floor and wrapped her arms around her brother. She knew he had just missed her and was taking out his pain and anger at not being able to help and protect her on Holmes.

"Oh, John...It's okay." Alexandra said. "Just don't punch my husband."

"Okay." Watson laughed into her shoulder.

"Well, now that we've gotten everything all sorted out, shall we go to dinner?" Holmes asked.

"It's just like old times." Alexandra chuckled.

"Except you're much more mature now." Watson said. "And you're married. My little sister is all grown up and I hate it."

"I thought you would have loved it." Alex said.

"No, I hate it." Watson said.

"Well, I'll try to be the same old Alexandra every once in awhile." Alexandra chuckled. "Now, let's go to dinner."

"You'll have to tell me everything while we eat." Watson said. "Both of you."
