"You look so comfy," was the first thing he heard when Taehyung opened the apartment's front door to see Jungkook sitting on the couch.

"Aw, I feel comfy." He hurried over to the model, placing his laptop on the coffee table, and taking Taehyung's bag from him. "Meeting went okay?"

"Yeah. Is Jin Hyung home?" His gaze flicked over to the sound of the shower running somewhere deep inside. Jungkook nodded and hugged him. "Were you working? Sorry if I interrupted."

"Nah, just editing. I'm good to go." Jungkook hung off his shoulder and Taehyung flicked his chin with a fond smile.

"Don't be nervous. It's dinner hours so even less people out in stores, okay?"

"Okay. Do you wanna sit and relax for a bit?" Taehyung shook his head. "Let's go before I change my mind then." Jungkook ran hands along his trench coat. "You've been wearing this a lot."

"Bad thing?"

"No. Really good. I like it." He giggled and Taehyung reached for the younger's jacket on the coat rack. He wrapped it around his shoulders and let Jungkook slip his arms inside the sleeves. "Thank you."

"All cozy and warm." Taehyung took his hand and lead the two out of the apartment where his security was already waiting. Ducking into the car parked in the apartment garage, the tinted mirrors let them relax without any concealing appearance.

Until they got to outdoor mall, small and tiered with two floors. It was known for its designer brands, the road turned into a walking area lining the courtyard for seating.

It was pretty and Taehyung wished Jungkook could admire it more past his nervousness.

Jungkook pulled the mask over his face, winter coat's hood hiding his other features and Taehyung took his hand as they exited the vehicle. The lampposts had been lit for the evening and people were sparse at that hour on a weekday. The model waited for their security to trail behind before taking the lead.

"I don't recognize half these brands." Jungkook mumbled, voice muffled behind the fabric of his mask. "This is weird."

"Good weird?" Though Taehyung already knew the answer with the excited tingle in the photographer's voice.

"Yeah." Jungkook's eyes narrowed with his hidden smile and Taehyung buried their intertwine hands in his coat pocket, forcing him close. While they weren't as relaxed as they had been in Andong, it was nice to get out of the apartment.

Even Jungkook thought so.

Taehyung slowed in the center of the courtyard, near the escalators that took one up to the second floor. The air was cold and it nipped at his exposed forehead, mouth protected by his own covering.

"Where would you like to go first?" He asked Jungkook, who turned to him with wide eyes.

"I said I don't know half these stores and you want me to pick?" He sounded baffled and Taehyung shrugged.

"We can start with anything that catches your eyes. I'll tell you if it's worth it or not before we go in."

Jungkook blinked and huddled close to Taehyung for warmth with the inquisitive gaze wandering around the storefronts. "I mean, we can start with something easy like Gucci?"

"After that ribbon incident, I don't trust you with that," Taehyung teased, chuckling at the brush of color taunting his cheeks. "Besides, I have my own collection for you to pick from in my closet. Pick something more interesting."

"Um..." It was difficult when the storefronts all screamed eye-catching, Chanel on one end, Louis Vuitton next to it. Taehyung wasn't being helpful so Jungkook considered the clothes he could see in the fancy windows for anything he'd even be interested to try on.

"Do you need help—"

"Balenciaga?"

"Oh," Taehyung was startled, gazing him up and down before finding the store not far up ahead to their right. "Good choice! I think their clothes will look great on you, let's go."

Jungkook didn't know what that meant, not when he doubted he could really pull off any designer outfit unless it was trusted by Taehyung himself. He'd probably pick something atrocious and get judged for it in an instant without help.

The warmth of the interior felt like an all loving smack to the face and Jungkook cowered behind the model. The white floors and furniture screamed polished, main floor hardly stocked and rather displayed with clothing. Accessories were trickled throughout in a somehow organized chaos. Dressing rooms of thick curtains skirting the floor were tucked along the far wall while the checkout counter seemed like the front of a hotel check-in desk with the suited employee standing behind it.

"Welcome," the lone employee acknowledged, hardly glancing up. "Browsing?"

"Browsing. Do you have any featured collections? Limited editions?" Taehyung was quick to ask and her brow raised, some flitter of recognition laced in her expression. Her eyes widened as the took in the model and glanced at both Jungkook beside him and the security just at the door.

"V-shi." She bowed and Taehyung bowed his head in return. "Right this way. Our exclusives are near the front. May I take your jackets?"

"Yes, thank you." The model slipped off his coat, helping the hesitant younger do the same before handing both to the employee. "We can look around on our own."

"Of course." She bowed her head with both jackets draped over one arm. "Please do let me know if a dressing room is needed."

Jungkook kept his hand in the crevice of Taehyung's elbow, tugging them away from the woman with urgency.

"She's not like... jumping for a picture with you?" The photographer flushed at the silly smile Taehyung sent him, the older having pulled his mask down in hopes of more normalcy.

"Big people, unknown people with money to spend, the filthy rich— they all come by this mall." Taehyung fixed a strand of Jungkook's hair. "It's not uncommon for celebrities to be seen here. The employees are fairly used to it."

"Oh, got it. That's a plus." Jungkook turned to acknowledge the arranged clothes, intermixed between metal accessories and silky fabrics, the three distinct collections for men's clothing obviously separated in their design.

"Anything catch your eye?" Taehyung looked around for himself, half attentive towards anything he thought would suit Jungkook's taste.

The younger's eyes seemed to linger on a certain area for longer than the rest and Taehyung caught it, glancing over it with approving eyes. "That jacket looks nice."

"Huh?"

Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jungkook's figure and nudged him forward toward the jacket he'd seen. His head found solace on the hill of Jungkook's shoulder as the younger leaned back into him. "That baggier one, dull blue, yellow and black blocks."

"Oh, I like that, too!" Jungkook peeked at him with narrowed eyes of a smile. "You should try it on, Tae."

"I'm feeling a bit tired, would you try it on for me?" He knew it was one way of getting Jungkook to relax more, loosen up a bit more to model clothes 'for Taehyung.' In reality, the model was just planning to buy him whatever made his eyes light up.

"Sure," Jungkook moved from his hold to finger through the collection of sixes for the jacket. "What size...?"

"Whatever fits you, fits me." Taehyung grinned, crossing arms over his chest as Jungkook puffed his cheeks out with suspicion before picking out his own size. The older turned to a pair of shoes sitting with the same collection, chunky lace shoes that mismatched in color, but managed to work well together regardless. "Hey, what's your shoe size?"

"270?" Jungkook followed his approach to the pair on a glass shelf and stifled a small gasp. "Those are amazing."

"Done." Taehyung picked one up and turned to wave the woman working on the floor over. "Could we get a size 270 in these? And a dressing room."

She nodded and returned to head to the back room where all the sizes were stores. Jungkook was viciously poking his arm when she turned away.

"Yes, angel?"

"Those shoes are over a million won!" The younger chided softly. "Tae, please—"

"Shh," he cupped Jungkook's face and smiled sweetly at him. A bloom of hue spread across the upper half of his face, mask hiding the flustered chew of his lips. "Try that jacket on for me, beautiful."

"You suck." Jungkook huffed, Taehyung chuckling as they headed to the dressing room with an opened curtain, set up for them. "Can I throw this on over my shirt?"

"Mhm."

Taehyung took a seat on a lounge class placed strategically near the miniature dressing rooms. Jungkook didn't really bother closing the curtain when he wasn't shedding any clothes and the model appreciated his gentleness with the jacket.

The mask slipped away with the tug over his head, causing him to remove the covering and fix the bottom hem around his hips. Jungkook turned, eyes pinned on the mirror and Taehyung crossed a leg over the other while gazing at his stage of judgement.

"Let me see it from the back." Taehyung suddenly said and Jungkook jumped like he'd been touched by a ghost. He chuckled at the surprised expression on the guy's face, having been startled by the fact that a second pair of eyes was taking his outfit in.

"How does it look?" Jungkook was burning crimson with Taehyung's calculating gaze of the fabric.

Of course, if it would sit on Jungkook, it would be lifted in its beauty, but Taehyung was keen on purchasing something the younger would truly like wearing.

"How do you think it looks?" He asked back. "Show me the back."

"It's not for me, it's for you." Jungkook did as asked. "Why? Does it look weird from the back?"

"Hm, you've got good taste, though, baby." Taehyung leaned an elbow on the back of the lounge chair and rubbed his lip. "Looks great from the back, show me the front again."

A presence was behind him and Taehyung straightened as the employee handed an unboxed pair of those chunky shoes in Jungkook's size.

"Split Triple S in size 270, Sir." He took the box from her with a swift thank you and she let them be. He knew his security was waiting somewhere further, not close enough to be noticeable in their vicinity and out of earshot.

"Tae? Here's the front." Jungkook mumbled shyly. The model set the box of shoes in his lap Jungkook splayed his arms out for him to see it all.

It really did suit the younger. Taehyung wanted to tease him a bit, though, and motioned the younger towards him.

"I think it looks perfect." He reached a hand out, gesturing for Jungkook to meet it and he stepped out of the curtained space to hold his hand in seconds. "You should let your neck breathe."

He reached up and tugged the zipper down from Jungkook's chin. The younger stepped closer to his seated body, leaning down so Taehyung could do whatever he was doing. He let the zipper rest on the dip of Jungkook's chest, black undershirt visible in the triangular gap.

"Much more relaxed now." Taehyung let his hand fall to the dip of Jungkook's waist. The younger laughed softly and pointed at the shoes.

"We aren't buying those."

"Then the jacket's for you." Taehyung shrugged. "I'm buying both anyway, whether you stay stubborn or not."

"Why? Taehyung, I really don't want to spend so much on clothes."

"It's not about that," The mode objected. "Shopping is very normal, Jungkook."

The said man took a seat next to him, playing with the hem of the expensive jacket. "Dropped a million won on a pair of shoes isn't."

"It is for me." Taehyung sighed and fell against the back of the couch. "If you really hate this, then we don't get anything, yeah? I just want to spoil you a little, but I understand if it makes you uncomfortable."

"I'll..." There was some frustrated contemplation battling through the younger's head. Then he was taking the shoe box from Taehyung's lap and scratching his neck. "Just this once."

"Really?" The excitement was obvious in Taehyung's voice. He hadn't expected a positive answer so quickly. "Thank you, Koo."

"You're unbelievable. Thanking me for spending three million won on me in one day."

"Why wouldn't I?" Taehyung giggled a litte as Jungkook unraveled the paper shrouding the shoes and removed his own to try them on. "They look great on you."

"They feel great. Really comfy actually. I love them."

"For a million won, I would hope so." Taehyung laughed at the complaint on the tip of Jungkook's tongue. "Do you want to try anything else on?"

"You won't get anything?" Jungkook frowned, tugging the shoes off after pacing around to get a feel and slipping his original black ones on. Taehyung helped him out of the jacket and they handed both items to the employee to ring up.

"I'm not the biggest fan of Balenciaga's style." The model shrugged. "But I love it on you."

"Damn. I'd love to see you in my style." Jungkook mumbled it so quietly, Taehyung wasn't sure he was supposed to hear. But he did. And it sent a spark of heat to his chest. "What?"

"You... I mean, uh," the model bit back a wide smile and zeroed in on Jungkook's face, kissing his forehead. "I would love to wear your clothes. I know you think that's cute."

Jungkook's cheeks impossibly darkened at the curious gaze flickering down Taehyung's figure, most definitely imagining the man worth billions in some forty thousand won hoodie— the price of his drinks.

"You would? But it's not your style."

"So? It's yours." Taehyung hummed. "Goes both ways."

"Okay." There was a brief pause before a beaming smile broke out on Jungkook's face and he hugged the model. "Love you."

"Me too, angel." Taehyung waited for him to put his mask on as he paid at the register, black card hardly phasing the employee. She handed the sturdy bag with their belongings over the counter and Jungkook bowed, taking it with gratitude.

She returned their coats and both of them hurriedly wore them in perfect time of stepping back outside into the main courtyard area.

"How do you feel?" Taehyung asked, half alerted and then eased by the emptiness of the outdoor mall that evening.

"Good actually. Thank you for the stuff." Jungkook mumbled, biting back a smile and the model rested a hand on Jungkook's neck, playing with the hair there. "I'll make good use of it."

"Unlike my Gucci collection at home."

"Unlike that." Jungkook snorted, eyes twinkling. Taehyung hummed as their walk slowed to a standstill. "Hey Taehyung?"

"What's up, darling?"

Jungkook swung the bag ever so slightly, swaying leisurely before him. "You wanted to talk about something."

Taehyung sucked in a breath, having forgotten in the casualness of their time that evening, but alas, he did have an important conversation to talk through with Jungkook.

"Right. Yeah, I do." He cursed under his breath. "It's probably going to shock you, confuse you even? Just hear me out."

"You know I'm all ears."

They found one of the benches along the grass area, sitting there and huddling together. Security was somewhere nearby, but Taehyung could hardly think about that.

"So, Namjoon Hyung and Jimin were talking to me the other day."

"I swear if they told you embarrassing stories about me—"

"No," he chuckled softly, taking Jungkook's hand. "Nothing of the sort. It was a serious conversation. About work."

"About... work." Jungkook repeated, voice quiet. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, it's going well, I've been doing good with the healthier route and not extremely overworking. Much more manageable, but it was when I talked to them and then when we were at the Versace event the other day... it just made me think a lot."

"You have been doing a lot better. I can see it. We all can." Jungkook smiled with his eyes and Taehyung squeezed their intertwined fingers. "Go on."

"Everyone's talked about it before, but I've actually started taking the idea seriously now. The idea of a break." Taehyung's shoulders sank like he had finally gotten the words off his chest. "Not like lessening my workload, but a proper break without going to the building, traveling on my own time, studying something, finding some hobbies, finding myself."

He met Jungkook's encouraging gaze.

"Spend good time with you where we can do normal things." Taehyung sniffed, some mix of the cold weather and emotion making his nose tingle. "It wouldn't be effective immediately; I'd have to give BigHit some heads up. So maybe in a month I could let go of work for some time."

"How long?" Jungkook whispered. "How long do you want time off?"

"I was thinking a couple months. Nothing crazy or I think I'd go crazy." The younger laughed and nodded in agreement. "It's been seven damn years of almost nonstop work. I haven't caught a break. Not really. Plane trips to foreign countries, four hours of sleep a night for years on end is a shitty excuse of a break."

"It's okay," Jungkook reassured. "You've worked so hard, it's just time to put yourself first."

"I know. And also you." Taehyung ran his thumb along the smaller hand's knuckles. "You and hyungs deserve to get a good me just as much as I deserve to have a healthy mind and body. We can travel, Koo. I can— maybe we go to the middle of some random country and get street food. I just... I really do need it and I wanted to talk to you about it before deciding because that means your life changing, too. Which is selfish, I know, but I want you to be by my side, me by yours, like always—"

Taehyung's voice choked up as Jungkookms hands raised to hold his face, pads of his thumbs stroking the hill of his cheekbones.

"I'm so damn proud of you." Jungkook said in their shared space, tucking some stray strands of his hair away, and Taehyung blinked at the man in astonishment. "That's the perfect plan. And I'd love to go wherever you want to."

"God, Jungkook—" Taehyung covered his quivering lips with his fingers, shock never ending. "How is that even fair?"

"My work's mobile. And I can take a break and live a little, too. You're more important than a stack of photo shoots on my desk, Taehyung." Jungkook shrugged, hands slipped away to his sides.

"You're not worried about the whole media thing?"

"Well," the younger hugged himself. "None of it will be scheduled, so the amount of media attention will be less anyway. And I can't keep running away. So I'll face it if it happens, but I want to live my life with you." Jungkook took a deep breath. "You'll always be more important."

Taehyung didn't respond and Jungkook smiled with more vigor.

"And if we travel, I'll get to see some really cool places. Get even cooler shots! I've never been out of the country, Taehyung, that'll be so fun. You know so many languages— oh my god, if we go to France, I can hear you speak French like the sexy man you are."

The model burst out laughing, disbelief rivaled with fondness. "You're unbelievable, Jeon Jungkook. The best kind of unbelievable."

"I'm serious! I'll never forget you speaking French with the goddamn Eiffel Tower in the background. People would die for their partner to do that and I just casually got that for like a week? No, you're unbelievable. The kind of unbelievable that makes dreams real, Taehyung."

"You always have the best things to say." Taehyung's endearing expression was more generous. "We can go to France. That can definitely be done."

"No way," Jungkook giggled, hugging him again. "There's only like four hours until your birthday."

"You still nervous?"

"Well, no. Not in the way you think. I guess just nervous of how the gift is going to change us because I didn't exactly talk to you before hand about it."

"What...?" The model frowned. "That makes no sense, Jungkook. Why would it change us?"

"Not us, per say. But like, it'll go from the two of us to... okay, I'm shutting up or I'll ruin it."

Taehyung had zero clue of what could be guessed from Jungkook's words. He was excited to see the surprise, but all the same, Jungkook was nervous about how it'd change their lives?

"You know, the break thing will actually be great." He continued. "My gift will work out much better with you getting more free time to spend at home."

"Jungkook?"

"Hyung?"

"Ah, nothing, I'll wait to see tomorrow." The model bit his tongue. "Let you be in control of the situation, or however you like it."

"Tae!" Jungkook slapped his arm and Taehyung snickered, rushing forward to ruffle the younger's hair. "I hate you for bringing that up again."

"I'll never forget." He grinned. "Best Jungkook line ever." Taehyung froze, recalling their text messages from earlier in the day. "Wait, Koo. You had something you wanted to talk about too?"

"Oh, uh," he grimaced. "That. I don't exactly have any good way of putting this."

"Then put it the bad way." Taehyung leaned against the back of the bench, head lolling to stretch. "I can take it."

A few moments to collect himself. And then Jungkook made him tense up in seconds.

"I was thinking that you should visit home. Your parents back in Daegu. Just visit your hometown again."

"Jungkook..." his lips pursed. "Did Yoongi talk you into this? You know he brought it up to me at the Christmas Eve dinner we had—"

"I actually asked him to ask you that."

"What?"

"Hyung," Jungkook took his hand and hugged it to his chest. The skin warmed in seconds. "You have wonderful parents. You've spoken highly of them before. You're just scared of going back because it's been years."

"I'm not scared, I just don't even know what excuse I'd give for not showing up in so many years, Jungkook."

"I've already told you that time doesn't change home. And they still love you. They'll never ask for an excuse when they know what you've been through and what you've done to get here." He let their hands fall onto his thigh. "They just miss you, Taehyung."

"You don't know that. I've messed up a lot, Jungkook. Court twice? Negative media coverage countless times more? What parent want to see that embodied in their child?"

"You're more than just those things and you know it."

Taehyung groaned. "I know. I do know that."

"You're a million times more good. And the bad things that happened were never your fault."

"I know that, too." His resolve was dying, voice breaking, anger dying with ever trace Jungkook's fingers made on his hand.

"So you should also know that if you want to take this break, fine yourself as you said, the best place to start is visiting the people who raised you into such an amazing person."

"I..." Taehyung's head fell. "I do know."

"Don't be upset." Jungkook guided his chin up to sooth the guilt away. "You have the chance make it up to them. We can go to Daegu when your break is enacted."

"Yoongi Hyung's such a good liar." Taehyung mumbled. "Can I think about it?"

"Tae."

"It's just a plan you're throwing at me, I can think about it. I deserve the time to think about it, Jungkook."

"Well..." Jungkook trailed off.

Taehyung squinted. "What did you do?"

"I may have bought the tickets." He winced at the blank expression overcoming Taehyung's face. "For like... the end of January."

"Jungkook, what the hell were you planning to do if I said no?"

"Is that a yes?"

"I'm serious. You spent your own money on that and you weren't even sure if I'd go!"

"I'm pretty convincing." Jungkook crossed his arms over his chest defiantly and Taehyung sighed at the naive response. "I convinced you anyway, so what difference does it make?"

"I never said yes."

"Please?" He pouted and Taehyung's heart lept much against his will. "I'll get to meet your parents. And we can kick off your break with that and maybe we can go to Busan after that. You can visit my hometown, meet my parents— go watch the sunset on the sea."

"Give me until tomorrow." Taehyung rubbed his forehead, mildly annoyed by the impulsive decision. "If I say no, you're giving those tickets to Yoongi Hyung. They shouldn't be wasted. Okay?"

"Okay." The photographer adjusted the strap of his mask. "Sorry I killed the mood. Don't worry about it on your birthday either. You should enjoy tomorrow."

"You didn't kill the mood." Taehyung shook his head. "Thank you for being thoughtful with the tickets. Was that one of the gifts?"

"Yeah." Jungkook answered and it lead to Taehyung kissing the inside of his wrist, smiling as the fingers tingled against his warm cheek. "Figured that was one I shouldn't keep secret."

"No, definitely not."

The younger shifted and reached for the bag. "Should we go home? I'm definitely not getting anything else, unless you want to, and Jin Hyung said he was making dinner. It's kinda cold, too."

"Sure, angel. I don't really want to buy anything right now anyway. Let's go." Taehyung felt the hand curl around his arm as he called the driver so the couple and security could head back home.

The model didn't really have much to think about. He was stubborn. And honestly? He was terrified. How much could they forgive him for all he's been involved in?

You're the most successful model in all of Korea, Taehyung. Jungkook's right that they'll be more proud and welcoming with open arms over anything else.

He knew that. He knew that and he knew there was only one choice he'd ever be able to live with.

Looking over at Jungkook, who stared curiously into the bag and at the fancy packaging of his new clothing, Taehyung thought that being nervous was okay.

They pushed each other out of their comfort zones and it was the best thing they could do for each other. Because of it, they kept growing. Blooming.

Taehyung wanted to visit home.
