What a great distraction, Taehyung fixed the cuffs of his black balloon sleeve shirt, the structured material stiff against him to maintain formality.
He locked his phone upon the reentry of both his manager and BigHit's CEO, Bang Si-Hyuk. The meeting room was already graced with Jin's and his manager's presence as well as the modeling department head of the company, Sunmi. Her beauty needed no touch ups or assistance— skin glowing and attracting attention upon entrance into the room.
Her lips curved upon meeting Taehyung's appreciative eyes as she took a seat in the large swivel chair next to his. He sent her a small bow of his head, her hands flipping open the binder in her hands and Taehyung averted his eyes, worried of deepening his nervousness before the reports even occurred.
"Good to see you all," Bang Si-Hyuk greeted, standing at the head of the table. Everyone murmured a quick response to him and he took his seat, hands under his chin as he skimmed over the report binder Sunmi showed him. "Would you like to start, Sunmi-shi?"
"Alright," she interlaced her hands and leaned forward on the table leaning around. "The Variety Gala is tomorrow night, Seokjin and Taehyung, you both are representing as our top models in the department," she chuckled and smiled at them. "Everyone expects to see you there anyways."
Taehyung let the weary smile creep on his face as he stared at the wall behind Jin's head (who sat a across the table from him). As two of the biggest male models of South Korea, they were expected at the big fashion events.
"...fitting for the event will be taking place at one in the afternoon and you'll be escorted back to the building for two shoots' planning sessions before you are given time to work on the collaborative project planned with Jhope and Suga." She continued through her weekly agenda as they did every Monday morning with the CEO to address any issues and ensure smooth scheduling.
He and Jin were often in the meetings with the management due to their high positions in the industry, but information was always passed to their fellow models who worked besides them, generally in the form of common announcements.
She quickly made it through the week, Taehyung's brain accustomed to the scribbling of his manager's penmanship on note pages, expertly gathering all relevant events for Taehyung.
As much of an asshole that his manager was, he did his job exceptionally well.
Sunmi closed the binder after her prompt run down and tapped the binding tentatively.
"Seokjin," Bang Si-Hyuk called out and the man looked over at him with a calm and gentle expression. "You must have some work to attend to."
"I actually don't—"
"Ah, yes! Emergency meeting with some makeup sample testing." His manager fumbled the quick lie when she caught the eyes of Sunmi motioning for the two of them to exit the meeting.
"Makeup...?" Jin slowly stood and Taehyung didn't share his confusion.
They were about to address the elephant in the room and there was no need for Jin there.
"Thank you," his manager bowed hastily, putting a hand on Jin's back and leading him out of the meeting room, his hushed voice questioning the sudden dismissal until the door shut and the room fell quiet.
"We have protocols to protect artists and celebrities under our label, Taehyung-shi." Bang Si-Hyuk started and Taehyung's mind swarmed with emotion as he kept his face expressionless, simply nodding along. "Security shall increase to protect your well being at the gala, in the building, and at your home."
"The press team has been monitoring both Park Bogum's and Jeon Jungkook's actions since last night." Sunmi continued.
"What?" Taehyung frowned. "Why Jeon Jungkook?"
"He's involved." Taehyung's manager cut in and the model fell back into his chair with a heavy sigh rolling out of his mouth. "I told you to not get this deep into drama—"
"With all due respect, Manager-nim," Sunmi saw the crushed emotion in Taehyung's downward cast eyes. "The timing was the unfortunate part. He was sporting fairly good remarks with his involvement with the photographer."
"Because we saw it as a popularity gain," his manager pointed out. "He has clearly stated that it was anything but."
"Popularity gain or not," Sunmi's voice was slightly harsher and Taehyung closed his eyes, hands gripping the edge of the table. "It was helping both him and his image."
"He's in the room," Bang Si-Hyuk's calm voice battered in between the mild argument. "Address him as well."
"Of course. Taehyung," his manager leaned forward to look at him. "How involved are you with the Busan photographer?"
"Friends." He said swiftly. "We are friends."
"And there's no issue with that." Sunmi frowned. "Park Bogum may make it an issue but we will release the public statement."
"Talk with the press team and get this cleared out by lunch." Bang Si-Hyuk tapped his pen on the desk and gazed at the three of them. "Include the security detail and note that all measures will be taken to prevent any harm to Kim Taehyung."
As much as the CEO cared for his contracted celebrities, he also knew they were the face of the company. How the company dealt with issues caused by the celebrities or attacking the same people was what gave them their support.
"The gala and our project will be a good distraction for fans." Taehyung murmured and Si-Hyuk nodded with agreement. "At least that timing is good."
"Not wrong," his manager pursed his lips and Taehyung checked the wall clock for the time. It was almost noon and he wanted to get lunch and check in with Jungkook before the gala fitting. "It will also just show his resiliency."
"As long as that rotten man doesn't cause any issues."
"That is very unlikely."
"Can we keep tabs on Jungkook for safety benefits too?" Taehyung suggested and paused to think of a way to make it sound plausible and not a special request by manipulating his powers. "If he gets hurts, it will look bad on me as well. He's involved in this because of me, it would only be right to ensure his safety too."
"There's only so much we can do with external involvement, Taehyung." Sunmi frowned. "And he's such an unknown figure in the news... I can talk to the press team and see if they can regulate what news about him is scattered as well, but it could risk a breach of privacy."
"Do it." Taehyung whispered. He just didn't want someone else— someone who was graced with a normal life— to be hurt because of him. Jungkook had his own worries with the drama the news channel rumored and having his safety compromised was unfair. "Just keep his appearance at utmost secrecy. That much privacy should be protected."
"I don't see this ended well," his manager muttered spitefully. "Not without his knowledge of such measures at least."
"I'll speak to him about it. But don't let Bogum touch him." The tone of Taehyung's voice was almost pleading, a voice none of the three management members had heard form the A-Class celebrity since his early years in the spotlight.
"Alright, Taehyung." Bang Si-Hyuk assured. "You should go rest and prepare for your eventful day ahead."
"Thank you." Taehyung collected himself into his usual calm composure before exiting the room, his manager close behind.
"Park Bogum's chances of ruining him are low, correct?"
"Low? Yes. But impossible with Jeon Jungkook in the picture? No, Sir."
