Chapter 29: {Finding New Friends}
Brooklyn's POV
I woke up and saw my Bible on the nightstand next to me. I got up and freshened up in the bathroom and then got dressed for the day. I grabbed my Bible and head downstairs and found mom sitting on the couch. I sat next to her and gave her a hug.
"Good morning sweetheart!" Mom said to me.
"Good morning. What are we doing today?" I asked mom and she smiled at me.
"Well, I was planning on reading a little in the Bible, then going out for breakfast, then go get dad."
"Wait, what?"
"The band is coming back for a quick break since they have another show tomorrow that's nearby." I jumped up in excitement.
"Yay! I'm so excited!" She smiled at me again and we got into our reading.
---2 hours later---
Mom and I sat in the car, waiting for dad. We decided to play whatever games possible while sitting in a car. I must say, I was pretty great at those car games!
We were in the middle of a thumb wrestling match when we hear the bus pull up. We looked up at each other, grabbed our coats and hopped out of the car.
Once dad was out of the bus and put his bag in the car, I gave him a big hug, as well as mom. It feels good to be together as a family.
We decided to go to a laser tag place together. I had never played laser tag before, but it was fun! Let's just say, I crushed mom and dad.
After we had some fun with laser tag, we went out for frozen yogurt. I loved this. I finally feel safe, secure... happy. I've never been happy much before.
When we got home, I decided to go get into some comfortable clothes. We decided to play some games and then we watched a couple movies.
Once we finished our second movie, mom went to make a nice salad for dinner. She always did the cooking because dad is barely aloud to enter the kitchen. He's only aloud to go in for simple things, not for making meals.
While mom was putting the salad together, dad snuck into the kitchen and scared mom from behind. I was rolling on the floor because of the face mom made. She dropped an egg from it, so she was not impressed, but dad was laughing just as hard as me. Mom eventually got me and dad out of the kitchen so she could finish putting dinner together.
We got to the table and tried our hardest not to laugh when we all sat down. We prayed and then it was silent as dad and I were trying to avoid eye contact as well as hold back our laughter.
At one point dad lost it which caused me to as well. We even got mom to laugh too. Once we all calmed down, it was quiet until mom broke it again.
"Brooklyn, we had some neighbors that have a girl about your age. I really like her mom. They go to church with us as well. I thought it would be good to get you two to meet and while you are together, we can meet up with her parents."
"Okay, sounds good. When are we going to do that?"
"I was thinking tonight if you were okay with that."
"Sounds great!"
----Half an hour later----
I was sitting on the couch when I heard a knock at the door. Mom jumped up and hugged the lady who knocked right away. I got up and stood back a step, as well as dad.
"Please, come in!" Mom said and we all walked to the living room.
"Brooklyn, this is Mr. and Mrs. Palmer. Then this is Evelyn." Mom told me. I got up and shook all of their hands, saying the usual, "Hello, hi, nice to meet you" thing.
"Why don't you two go have some time together to get to know each other?" Mrs. Palmer said. We agreed and I took Evelyn to my room.
We just talked for a while about anything and everything – favorites, least favorites, school, friends, sports, you name it. Then it got a bit quiet and then Evelyn broke it again.
"What is it like to have two famous singers as parents?" I didn't know how to respond.
"Well, it's great so far. They're so much nicer and just better parents than my other parents."
"What do you mean?" I explained to her about everything that happened with my mom and dad.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! Just know that Joel and Moriah would never treat you badly, or any of us for that matter. You're in good hands here."
"Thanks!" I said. We hugged and we continued having a good time until it was time for them to leave. I found out that Evelyn is homeschooled as well, so I am going to her house to do school tomorrow while mom and dad go to record the last of mom's new album.
After everything I've gone through so far, things were finally looking up. This was the best thing to ever happen to me. Please let this not be a dream...
