Moriah's POV

I barely slept last night, I knew Joel was going to be okay, but I worried about him. I was also really worried about Brooklyn. I texted Courtney to ask how she was handling it and she just said she wasn't doing well. I knew what meant. It bothered me all night.

"Hey beautiful." I heard Joel say. I got up and hugged him. This is the first time he's woken up.

"Hi. Thank goodness you're up!" I said and sat back down.

"Please tell me nothing happened to you or Brooklyn!"

"No. I'm fine. Brooklyn's not hurt but she isn't doing the best."

"Is she coming today?"

"Yeah. They should be here shortly. I'm going to get a doctor. I'll be back soon." I said as I got up and walked out of the room to find a doctor and tell them that he's up. Then I went to get a small snack. After that, I walked back to Joel's room and saw Luke, Courtney, the boys, and Brooklyn. Brooklyn didn't look too good. She had really red eyes and looked sad. I walked up to her and gave her a hug.

"Hi Brooklyn. Are you okay?"

"Hi. Sort of." I pulled away and gave her a small smile.

"I'm sorry for doing this to you." She said quietly. I shook my head.

"No. You didn't do this to us. It wasn't your fault. Now please don't blame yourself and just be happy. Okay?" She nodded her head.

Joel's POV

I had a feeling that Brooklyn was having a hard time when Moriah started whispering to her. Then they both sat down next to the others. We all started talking about whatever while Brooklyn played with Jude and Phoenix. No matter what, it seemed like something was bothering her. Hopefully, the court date will come soon, we'll adopt her then and hopefully she'll feel more comfortable to open up to me and Moriah.

As the four of us continued to talk, a doctor came in and the room went silent.

"Hey Joel. I just wanted to let you know that since you've been doing so well, you can go home later today."

"Wow. Thank you very much!"

"No problem. I'll come back in tonight to make sure everything's good and let you know when you can leave." I nodded and he left.

"Hey Joel, Courtney, the kids and I are going to get some food. We'll be back."

"And I was thinking about doing the same if you and Brooklyn are hungry."

"Sure! What about you, Brooklyn?"

"Uhh... I'm fine. Thanks though." Moriah nodded and gave me a look as she got up.

"Would you like to stay here, Brooklyn?" Moriah asked.

"Sure." Then Moriah, Courtney, Luke, and the boys walked out, leaving me alone with Brooklyn.
