No respite for Kai, the boys and the members of the Resistance, as they work restlessly between studies, homework, training session practical for the preparation to Saturday, their quest of finding these "fuckers" Jonathan's term, but he was right to define them like that the craziness fuck up people and the funerals of Pi Ho. They spoke to Pi Ho's brother Ti Ho and after a few apologies, he was now part of the Resistance. He was giving them information about his parents with no mercy. They had the formal evidence that the Pack was filled with corrupted people, then transfer the papers that describe what had Pi Ho's parents done and lawyers from CreaGic justice were building a case against them. Kai was glad that someone would be paying for the death of Pi Ho, so many thought the fifteen years old deserved it because he was taking drugs, marijuana, crack, heroin, a real junkie was nickname by his mother. She found peace as they turned in the evidence to the CreaGic task force unit with the only purpose to bring justice in the event, two years ago. Pi Ho was just another victim succumbed to be part of the stats. It was three days before the 'Forest test' as it would be a real challenge to test the young werewolves abilities to adapt in the environment that they know so much to use it to their advantage.

They had known suspicious targets placed under culprit side of their HQ room where they work whenever they could. It was hard because the practice of preparation for Saturday was strenuous for everyone and gave them a few sleepless nights for Kai as she was the only one who was taken that test between Addryen, Marco, Ralph, Kenden, Matt, Phil, and Jonathan. Kai was a bit shock with the revelation, the papers found in the Ho's house, she neglected her practice and the instruction, thankfully, her team was pretty relaxed and didn't mind that she was not so much uptight for it.

During the week of preparation, they would meet every day at the entrance of the forest, there's was no walking path in it, just firs, bushes of berries, oak trees, birch trees, Marple trees; they had to memorize the different types of tree in an excursion for their science class in elementary. It just stuck in her head, they were given pointers on how to locate different aspects of the forest and evaluate how to use it to their advantages. How to survive by creating a shelter in the forest, found comestible food, found the water, build protection, how to create a fire; a bit like the scout, she heard from the human. Furthermore, Kai invested herself to create a Facebook chat to talk about their strengths and weaknesses and what strategize they could use to survive twenty-four hours against trackers with three hours of spare. They have established that twenty-four hours wasn't much and it could go pretty fast, but they also need to rest, she knew she could stay twenty-four awake and let the guys rest time to time, if they need to move, they could always transported her on their back or shoulders if necessary. The fact that they knew what kind of teams they were against, she was hesitant to team up with the others.

"They could turn around and backstab you by taking your things or send one of the trackers your location to gain more time."

That really pissed off Kylan when he heard that his own sister didn't want to be making an alliance with them. It set a huge fight between the triplet putting Keagen in the middle and he was pissed to have to choose a side. Oliver couldn't take part as an instructor to advise but as a brother, he took aside the brothers and remind them that it may not be mistrust of them, but because she had to deal with the five other boys (they knew exactly who Oliver was talking about) to survive for a year. It may have triggered to only rely on her team, it still put some uneasy feeling between the triplets. Keagen had muttered to the other guys of their team, that he would be more than happy when it will be completed.

One of the boys from Jimmy texted them a reminder less day a day before the 'Forest Test'.

Don't forget to eat a lot, we could spare times by not eating to keep moving and be alert.

Saturday. Never cam too late as the fifteen-sixteen years sophomore were waiting anxiously in a mass in front of the forest to receive the last instructions. Each team was given a radio, for emergency purposes that would be only used if they have a really bad problem within the team or they want to abandon the test.

"It is not recommended to abandon the test but if you have trouble, we can use the radio to found you through the forest and come to your aid. No team will know from the radio who had to use it and who had been bringing back to the main base which is here because the trackers found you. The trackers will not and are not allowed to use the radio as GPS coordinates, even if they possess a radio to come to the aid of the instructors who will be circulating to make sure you're alright. For these young trackers within the four Packs, are still in training, therefore, they will be tested. Beware, some trackers with many years of experiences are only there to guards with warriors the borders and help to ensure that it stays a safe control evaluation. They are not part of those who should be tracking you," the female instructor from Jimmy's Pack, Kai recognized her lifted her hand and show clearly a badge with four Packs single, "this is the badge that all our young trackers that are destined within the evaluation to wear and be visible for you to see," she emphasized, "we do not guarantee you won't come out without a single scratch or any superficial wounds, but we do know that no one is to have life-threatening wound."

"Plus, to reconfirm that everyone from the warriors and those who are part of the patrolling around the borders and the forest was put in the loop of this evaluation. The formal delimitation is the border of the MoonLightning territory in the forest. Warriors, trackers, anyone who keeps our borders safe is given the task to let you know when to change direction for your own safety."

"Now, you will have three hours to found a spot or to keep moving, you make communicate with teams or make an alliance.

Kai hoped this test would go without an itch with Alpha Rowan around looking from afar this, it could only mean that he wanted to know who possessed the abilities that he needed to suppress. She shuddered slightly which Keagen thought she was cold and wrapped his arms around her.

"I'm fine, Keagen."

The members of the Resistance who were sixteen years and sophomores, there were thirty-seven scattered in different teams. There were fifty - five groups, with the MoonLightning, slightly unbalancing the numbers as they were more significant numbers, but with the least female, only twenty-three, the rest had a least sixty girls in their group.

Kai set off with her team as the countdown for the three hours started. Some groups decided to sprint in the forest to get the right spots and protect their spots while they wait to create a distance between them and the trackers. Keagen and another guy from MeteorLight Pack, Jerôme took the lead and they make a circle, five around Kai as she was definitely (according to the guys) their weakness, Keagen and Jerôme were excellent fighters and were very vocal. Therefore they were always a few steps ahead to clear the path and analyze their environment continually letting them know about the rocks and branches that could make their group trip. Meanwhile, they could hear the cracking of branches when the other teams were stepping on it, the laboured breathing of some because they sprint to try and gain momentum, the rustles of the leaves as some ran through the green foliage. They didn't have a precise strategy who where they would be situated but keeping moving at a steady pace was their goal to create distance and adapted themselves to the other teams. Kai internally connected thought the sibling bond, she had with her brothers to check where they were. She didn't show a smile, but Kylan was near them similarly following them but quite afar of them. Even if they have a fight, he was still caring and trying to keep an eye.

They were permitted to have a watch an only an hour and forty-two minutes passed when they heard the first screams, the team stopped waiting and gazing around trying to identify what causes the scream.

"The scream came from the East."

"She must give seen a bug or step on something disgusting," Jerôme told trying to convince everyone and himself that it would not be a surprise attack from out there, they all have heard the rumours that some attacks were about to happen, but the instructors ensured that none of that would happen for the next twenty-four hours," we need to keep moving we can't stop every time we heard a scream," he said trying to refocus the group to their purpose of surviving, "we lose precious seconds. Lets' go."

"He's right, let's move," Kai agreed to push the boys to keep trekking.

The sun was now glaring in this late October thought a fresh breeze could be felt. Just branches cracking, leaves brushes, pure forest.

"How much left before three hours up?"

"Thirty minutes."

"We know that all the trackers are starting from the bottom."

"Hey kiddos what are you doing here, mmm?"

A man wearing the tracker badge called them out as he stood a few meters above themThey exchanged not so subtle glanced wondering who the hell he was. He did not smell like familiar not like any rogues or lone wolf. And trackers were not supposed to be in the forest between three hours. They were not near the borders because the forest was a vast place.

"You are pretty far from home, right?" the man try to gauging anyone reaction.

"So as a good tracker is should bring you back home," he said as he stepped nearer to their position as the team stood there unmoving watching him what was his next move.

"You are not a tracker that knife isn't carried by any tracker," calling out like a knife she spotted a sharp object

"That?" as he raised his hand showing the dagger," that is a dagger, hun. A very beautiful that love to be twisted and turn!"

"Are you on drugs?" Benjamin from ShootingLightning called.

"You are right, I'm here to kill you teenies! you and your friends o who is gonna be, the pretty loud mouth or the scare baby shape-shifter?" he said glancing to Kai then Douggie.

A growl erupted as Carlo had completely shifted and stood threating in front of his team, he howled: "You are an outsider and you won't harm my friends." Immediately, Keagen, Benjamin and the two MeteorLight pack members shifted into their wolf form as the man took another step to be less than thirty centimetres from Carlo.

"You want to play, let's play! This is going to be fun."

The man shifted and Kai refused to stay in the sideline as she pushed the wolf with the others to collide him on a tree to brace him.

"Six against one that's not fair."

"Life isn't fair! Who send you?" Kai wanted answers and may as well used the boys to maintain him while she interrogated.

"Many people want you teenies dead! I rather died trying to fulfill my mission," as he growled feeling the bites and the cracking bones. "You are gonna kill me?" as used one of his paws to disengage Keagen who fly a bit before landing on his left side. "I'm not the only one, I'm just the first of a very long line."

She saw the dagger that was dropped when the man shifted in his wolf form glaring back to the sun. She couldn't let him get away and she recognized where his heart was in his wolf form. She had one shot and that wolf was getting the upper hand on Benjamin and Carlos who were doing there damndest to survive and keep him down, she had two behind her scared and probably frozen shocked that a trespasser was going to kill them. She inhaled the air and braced herself a bit as she took the dagger in her left hand ready to pierce in the skin right on the heart. He slumped down, stopped resisting, as blood emerged around the wound. She backed up what she did on a split of decision.

"Oh my god..oh my god!"

"Hey, hey, you did the right decision, it was him or us," Carlo nearly naked but still wearing a pair of pant and his thermal grey shirt now ruined with holes during his transformation, grabbing her by the shoulders shaking her to focus on his face and away from the blood. "Benjamin, Douggie, check on Keagen."

It turned to be a fiasco, Kai had to kill this enrage tracker whose name and face did not figure into the list of young trackers that were presented earlier to them so they recognize theme even if they have their badge

"We have to call and let them know." Carlo led her making her focus on a task.

"How much more are imposters identifying themselves to be young trackers but are killers?" Kai babbled out panicking, this was just an exercise, not a survival or death situation. it wasn't supposed to end like this. She couldn't shift.

She exhaled loudly, her fingers shaking as Carlo trusted the radio to her, he went back to check on the dead body with the two MeteorLight guys who were still in their wolf form walking on four paws around the body and get news of Keagen. She pressed the button to put the radio on and communicated by pressing the button.: "Oliver?" her voice quivered realizing the blood and the action they had to take, "If you can hear we have a huge problem in the forest, we have a false tracker that was able to gain the badge. You need to alert all the teams that there are killers in the woods and gather everyone, he started attacking us before the three hours are up."

"Are you sure?" moment later Oliver's voice came through the static of the radio.

"Our team had to go on a self -defence attack, we had to kill him, Oliver's there's so much..." 'blood' she wanted to say not before the radio was rip from her bloody left hand.

"Get all your trackers and everyone to get them and tell everyone to go to the main base. Now! We are way too far to get down, and killers must be observing us, we need to abandon all radio and possible communication. And someone let know the Beta and the Alphas of each Pack."

Carlo didn't wait for any replies before crushing with his hands the radio.

"We got to move, the guy was a warning and he mentioned that others will be there to finish the job." Moments later, their sensitive ears could hear radio activating and instructors from different packs alerting the teams. Howls from different areas of all directions in the forest echoed and Kia could feel Oliver AND Jamal trying to connect mentally with her through the sibling mental connection to read her thoughts and sent a message of reassurance or something and sibling bond to 'GPS', trying to create distant mental connections, she denied.

"What howling, oh my god why is everyone shifting and yelling? What do we do of the body," the guy from StarLight Pack was acting so surprised

"It's quicker to phase and go back down and trackers young and senoor are patrolling, they must have been able to get that ight like us, the chase only start. As for the body let it decompose it here the people who will found it will take care of it. "

"So we walked down?"

"Yeah but let's keep our guards up,"

"It's gonna be chaos!"

"Yeah,"

"There's gonna be collateral damage," A sigh from the boys as Benjamin was responding to the exhaled loudly.

As they abandoned everything on the site and trekked down, Keagen and Benjamin were next to her. The nerds were in front of her, the MeteorLight guys were trailing behind them in their wolf form. Carlos stood in front of them frowning as he glanced every one and awhile around him.

"The question is whether we split, Keagen and the two StarLight Pack, and one of MetorLights Pack is technically the most healed and healthy and Keagen needs medical attention. They can shift and explained what happen. The other half, we keep being in our human form, "she voiced out loud her question, glanced at boys all just standing there as she just speaks. Obviously, StarLight Pack were at loss at the situation, they got two nerds that understand survival skills and practice it but throw them in a battle and it may not be the wisest idea.

Carlo and Benjamin were the fittest and prepared from ShootingLightning Pack, and they record was a lot better out of the four Packs, no surprise from them. They were correctly trained maybe not daily but it involves many explanations. They were also trained to lead the groups or take a quick decision which explained how focus they were even with all the blood and the previous pining down, they were still functioning.

"We are not separating,sis!"

"What she meant is that a female scent would bring more danger upon us if she shifts, staying human is the best thing to have a chance of survival for her. Splitting in half is the best solution, you are injured and won't be any help if you are with your sister, your mind is not cleared enough, Douggie is already traumatized and went into shock, we need to bring him down and separating in two will diverse the targets," Benjamin clarified as he helped Kai looking out for her where to step. They couldn't afford to piggyback her in case, any of them needed to shift. He waved at their shifted friends "They already shift and would use their instincts and senses to help you out. One for each group." Precious seconds can cost lives. They needed to think differently.

Keagen growled in response, he did not like this one bit and abandoning his sister was NOT in his plan.

Kylan as they came across a sight that would be forever marked as wolves were attacking each other. Everyone shift, Kai didn't hesitate to shift even if it was going to be the most painful thing as she rarely shifts because of her coat fur and aftereffects of deadly drugs. She sprung in action with the other team as they combine forces to push back theses fake trackers. Eight against two, seem her brother team had suffered numerous injuries. One of them took the split of second of inattention on him to planted his canines on her flesh everywhere.

"Kai shift back and check if they are alive,"

Carlo and Benjamin knew how painful her transformation was this could be dangerous, she needed to go turn back human for her safety. They all heard the tale and the painful truths, this is why they were ready to fight. She stumbled, her t-shirt completely rip, but her pants were intact she was able to phase with her clothes but haven't paid much attention to really shift with her clothes. She dragged herself, her left heels still throbbing, she wasn't healing as fast as them due to the fact that her wolf has not been awakened much.

"KAI!" Jonathan boomed his volume echoing in the forest.

Jonathan and Phil came to the rescue, Jonathan had shifted and gave a hand to the students as they back-up exhausted. Phil still in his human helped Jonathan controlling the guy from killing someone else. As they knocked the guy and a few warriors were behind them circulating the area before assessing the situation, some on four paws others bipeds. No stretcher or medic was there but the warriors had bags of the first kit and then one of the female warriors direct the others to evacuate them. They overviewed how bad Kylan and Keagen state was before deeming that it was necessary to transport them to the hospital. Three warriors for each teen as they grabbed and escort them all down. They took different paths and different time of departure, as Kai was the least injured, Jonathan and Phil were licking in a quick fast pace her wounds while the other warriors were directing orders. Forgetting momentarily, enough time for Jonathan and Phil, to heal her wound and leave a scar and dried blood. She just in shock, cold and bloody, they waited a bit. Jonathan was holding protective growling at anyone trying to approach them. He had the look of MINE. They met other squads of warriors helping to search the area and get the teens back to the base,

It was the night when they were able to go down and out of the forest, they were the farthest team to reach and went the warriors, Jonathan and Phil ran in the forest, they were able to cover more grounds in their wolf form. But for the way back down, the triplets couldn't phase due to the injuries, they had to trek down surround by warriors, Kai was crushed on Phil's chest while Jonathan tried to keep in check a growl. A cold breeze was setting it, the Alphas, the Betas, the third-in-command, the Delta and some chiefs of divisions were trying to evaluate, questioning and answering the angry parents who demand what happen and the parents were swarming trying to find their children, ambulances were stationed and some brought n the hospital, no students were declared dead, at least until some were clear out of the woods. She shuddered into the draped blankets that were wraping her as she was sat on one of the Ford truck while warriors from all Packs and trackers were set on wolf and human foot to found any more trackers and the dead bodies. Kylan and Keagen were sent to one of the hospitals in the ShootingLightning Pack. All injured members were evacuate there. No casualties, yet but they have ask for her statement and took pictures of her bloody hands. They asked where they left the imposter. All of her siblings and her cousins, she rolled her eyes at Cristian and Mark, when they hugged and checked if the medics haven't seen any wounds or her being in pain. The guys were able to check on her and talk to her, hugged her but couldn't stay long as they were still on duty to understand how it went out of the control. Kenden, Matt, Ralph joined her in the back of the truck waiting for the next instructions. Her father didn't want her to be out of their sight and certainly not alone at home as their mother was already at the hospital for Keagen and Kylan. She was stuck there. Phil and Jonathan had to be debriefed and gave statements.

"Thanks for hanging out with me. Any news?"

"Your words send Oliver in panic but since everyone hears your voice as they waited and the count down did not even finish. They started contacting everyone to crush the radio and if they were no injuries to shift in their wolf form and get down. Some were already fighting with the imposters and by the time we coordinated things, some warriors who were patrolling volunteer to get the children. The parents swarmed and it got chaos as we didn't know who was injured, who was send immediately to the hospital, all the parents were talking at the same time and yelling. They yell a lot," Kenden winced remembering when he arrived. " Ralph wanted to go in the expedition but they forced Matt, him and me to stay behind and helped to control and relay the info. I guess Phil and Jonathan were able to slip from the commotion and gathered a team of warriors to find you."

"What did the Alphas said?"

"As you know Rowan wanted to plan and strategize, the other Alphas didn't wait to listen and started directing their warriors to get you guys out there.

"Alex sent everyone under fire when he realized you were one of the farthest, he wanted to come. His father knocked some senses because without Sherman around, so all hands on deck."

"He cares a lot about you," Jonathan muttered as he swap the blanket another one. "Phil got his fluffy blanket from his home. How are you?" giving a kick kiss on the cheek before settling in front of her, his hands in his pockets.

"I'm cold and I just keep saying all the blood pouring out of where is heart is. It's been a while I haven't see that much blood."

Jonathan grunted before placing her on Ralph's laps as the cold metal of the truck won't warm her up anytime soon.

"It's better if Sherman is not here, he's a pervert! That's nice of Alex!"

"Yeah, hear the guy is getting more interest in you," Matt was a good gossiper who loved to listen to the next rumours.

"Do you believe?" she wondered looking at Matt surprised.

"Maybe, won't be surprising but let's keep the story of Jonathan and Ralph."

"He's right, hopefully, Alex doesn't kill me yet if your assumption is right," Ralph said kissing the top of the hair, rubbing his palms over the blanket to create warmth friction on her arms.

"When we talk about the wolf," as they all gaze to Alex coming in their direction.

"Kai! Are you okay? I tried to come off but you know Alpha duties. I was so worried baby best friend!" he exclaimed nearly grabbing her completely off Ralph embrace.

Kai put her around his neck to secure to grip as he supports her weight against his warm body. He was wearing a thermal shirt and a pair of jeans.

"I'm not your baby best friend. I'm your best girly friend."

"That's right, did any of them give you food, you guys probably haven't eaten yet."

"Not allowed by the Betas and we ate home at lunch," Phil answered for everyone.

"Guess, I'll be right back with a few meals," as he set her down on Ralph's laps and jogged off to get meals.

"Didn't he hear that we are not allowed to eat, just yet?" Kai asked as she tried to readjust the blankets to wraps it better. It was so cold, why couldn't she be in bed, sleeping after a good microwave meal.

Alex jogged back holding the Tupperware, napkins and utensils"I spoke to Greg, it's all good with all the frenzy going on, they thought someone brought you home and these guys stayed with you.

"So I can go home?"

"Soon, first you eat this, then the guys can get you home when someone convinces him to let you guys go but I know from Greg the moment you are allowed at least one of you needed to stay with you until your parents or one of your brothers come home."

"Oh okay, foodie!" Kai suddenly said realizing she was starving as she only ate this morning.

"My mother and some cooks from different packs are distributing food, they have allowed people to start taking breaks and eat, there's pizza too! I settle with pasta, I hope it's fine."

"I'm just hungry, do you need to go back out there?"

"Soon, but I can watch you eat,"

"Did you eat?"

"Not yet, gonna wait for the pack members to eat and get energy, it's going to be a long night and Alpha Rowan is being insufferable.

The guys glanced at him sympathetically.

"All the student from your Pack is to stay in here until he decided to get his head out of his ass. Greg is over him to shake him off."

"Really what incentive you gave him?"

"You. Alex cleared his voice when six pair of eyes looked up at him and stared. "Well, he was surprised that all the students from MoonLightning were on stand by waiting while everyone else was gone after their statements and I just told him that everyone had to stay until Alpha Rowan said otherwise. Beta Ward, I mean your father, they heard me explaining this to Greg. They probably went stalk down Alpha Rowan to release you and the others."

Kai's shaky fingers tried to pull the cover of the Tupperware to dig in. Ralph who opened his, set the meal in Kai's hands on the side.

"Dig in! So what happened to team thirty-seven?" It was Kai's team and they haven't seen the other guys since they were separate from the warrior's orders.

"Benjamin and Carlo have given their statements and are safely tucked at home so all members of the three Packs. I mean it's ridiculous from Alpha Rowan. They are fine, worried that you had to stay but I told them, I'll check on you and gave them news first thing in the morning or afternoon," he glanced at his watch two-thirty in the morning," some will probably skip Monday and Tuesday school day. Uh, the guys from MeteorLight are fine not much a scratch just need to talk about the event as they did help to kill a person, who's bad. Jimmy came to check on the guys in team thirty-seven, they are pretty shaken and were not prepare to see this. Guess video games are not the same thing as real life." He chuckled glancing at Kai who was more preoccupied to dig in the meal as fast she could.

"Don't choke," Jonathan said as he took a bit before setting it aside. "Gonna check if Rowan - Alpha Rowan can release you.

All knew he wasn't going to hesitate to give a piece of his mind.

"Jon, no, it's fine."

"I'll go with him to control the damage, eat up Kai!" Kenden said as Phil just followed his footsteps.

"Sit, Alex, you must have been on your feet for the past hours!"

Matt was already on her left as Alex sat on the back of the Ford truck. Moments later, they heard shouts.

"Should we save him?"

"Who the Alpha or Jonathan?" Matt teased out.

"Jonathan,"

"Nah, he's fine, Kenden and Phil will make sure."

A loud whistle came out.

"Here we go after six hours, he finally made the choice," Kai sarcastically said.

"Students you may finally go, patrols will be circulating in the street for the first two nights and then we will tell you what's going to happen."

"Can we eat the rest at home?"

"Yeah, I'll text the boys to meet at Phil's car,"

She stood and hugged Alex.

"Be careful!"
