Chapter 2
It took a couple of hours before everyone left the hangar because they couldn't leave in a mass of people and they have to be careful on the time of departure of each group to avoid them being suspicious, though some were missing training sessions in a large number rarely happen. They were wary of zany inside shape-shifter Rowan Woody may have. Therefore, while waiting for many helped to deconstruct the platform serving as a stage. Since everyone was standing up, not many chairs were needed for the meeting to be transported back home. Some groups of people took a few objects to help distributed and avoid suspicious that something was going even if most of them had been missing on their duties (patrols, a day off, meeting friend, usual activities, daily routine, homework, cafe to work). Kai was getting a ride from Marco, and they were all going to eat at Jonathan's house, stayed around to finish their homework and sleepover. She could open her phone since the meeting had just finished concluded and everyone was just cleaning up but she knew her phone would buzz from all the missing texts and phone calls. She didn't deal with it yet and still holding Jonathan waiting for him to calm down was more useful than looking at her phone.
"You're okay?" Kai asked timidly. Never tried to push a werewolf who needed the reassurance that his people were safe. With Jonathan massive frame and failed attempt that results in a few wounds, Ki learned to be cautioned and waited for the right moment to speak up.
"Yeah, I will be!"
"Group hug?"
Jonathan chuckled before letting the four other guys joined and hugged each other not letting go even when Marco and Addryen cleared their voices.
"We should have a meeting in the next day with the twelve guards and all of us to see where we are with the other Packs' loyalty and trust into us. " Addryen said making Matt and Phil nodded in agreement and Kenden, Ralph, Jonathan grunted.
As she sat in the backseat, in the middle, leaving Kenden in the front meaning Jonathan and Ralph were both sitting next to her taking comfort that she was near them. She pushed the button to open her phone waiting for it to buzz and it buzzed a lot. More than eighty phone call and sixteen voicemail and seventy texts. She sighed and glanced at the notification center as she read the few lines of the texts. Most of them were worrying about her. She decided to unlock and listened to the sixteen voicemails as she answers some of her brother's texts.
I can't believe you missed your training this afternoon, again. You need to stay in shape and have the correct training if something happens. You are from a Beta bloodline, do you know how awkward it was for your brother to not see you and not to worry about you when you didn't show up? - her mom's first voicemail. Kai rolled her eyes, she was fifteen for crying out loud, the human species were the luckiest not to worry for the daily training session and teach by her brothers. She preferred when it wasn't them, but it seems that their status as Beta descendants made them possible to share their younger siblings.
Where are you, everyone is trying to reach out for you and I know for sure you are not in the house because I just checked every room. - Oliver. Oops, Kai realized that Oliver was half an hour away from finishing his patrol and receiving calls from everyone to check the house because she didn't show up at the training session. He must have delayed his own class to search the house, she winced slightly on the seat and reply "I'm safe and sound" on Messenger without looking to the endless of the message he sent her preferring checking on her triplet brothers texts, but she got distracted by the voicemails.
Mom was distraught by your disappearance, I saw your message on the fridge and just show her, when are you coming back? - Keagen. Thanks to her triplet observation skill, she thought sarcastically.
Never, Kai wanted to write in the family group chat, and the sibling and the cousins chat, she could only imagine that they texted her cousins to know if they knew anything. Annoyed by her over-protective family, she got it that they were protective of her because she was one of the rarest female born as a Beta; it got only worse with her return after been held hostage for a year two years ago, they went crazy and were acting like fools. She tried to remind them, she was fifteen years old, but her issues of nightmares and being easily sick was not helping her case.
As she glanced on a few messages left in her Messenger.
Look, I get you didn't want to be with us tonight but dad and mom had great news to tell us and they were waiting for you to let us know, sis. - Kylan.
Hey baby sis, your phone must be blowing of the message but Greg is coming back home after his training outside and visiting a few other Packs to try to find his mate. He will be back in a day or two depending on how long it takes him to arrive here. - Oliver
Seriously, little sis, missing my training, really, I know you don't like doing sport and rather be in a more modern Pack where training sessions are optional but you really got me to worry. - Jamal
Kai sighed loudly making the guys laughed they all hear the voicemails with their enhanced hearing as she put it to the lowest bar of volume. Kai just decided to answer her triplets brothers Keagen and Kylan's texts to reassurance them by saying :
I'm fine, I was with friends, I won't be back for tonight.
then Jamal:
Sorry for missing the training! didn't mean to embarrass you, as you must be all huddle up to read my responses to the rest of the family, I'll just go!
then Oliver:
Thanks for letting me know for Greg. This is great news, I will be at school tomorrow and cannot wait to see him.
her mom:
I'll be with friends and even if you want to get me, the Alpha would put his nose into this, I already told you yesterday I was not going to be there and was skipping the training session & Jamal is already making sure I don't fall behind even if I skip. Kai *roll of the eyes* internally.
her family chat:
I'm alright, Keagen show you the memo so it'all good, I'm alive and already told mom I was missing the training but she seemed to have forgotten. I'll see you tomorrow. Glad to hear you're coming back Greggo, the gecko!
her siblings:
Luv u, now go do your guy things like studying... and get home back ASAP :)
She knew they would rather spend time with their mates, some girls and pack members than study or doing duties (easy cleaning up, surveillance around the territory, give a hand to civilian and warrior task force).
for a training session, she added after waiting a few seconds for them to read the text.
her siblings/cousins chat, reading texts message of hey, are you okay, what happened, how do we need to beat up, involving discussion and throwing ideas by her cousins:
Did you really have to involve?
Immediate response
Of course, we worry for lil cuz! - Cristian, her cousin.
Marco parked the car in Jonathan's house driveway and saw the second car following behind bringing Kenden, Phil and Addryen pulled up next to Marco's car. As they slammed the doors of the car and walked to the entrance of the house in the group. Jonathan unlocked the door with the key and pushed the doorknob to open.
"Kai and the guys are staying for the night with us," Jonathan mentioned as he passed through the door of the house.
"Alright," Jonathan's mother Clarence said.
She had a long time ago stopped questioning her son motive to bring the Beta's daughter in here. It was a recurrence that her son would bring a group here or the group would eat at another guy's house. She thought, Troy, Jonathan's older brother would be worse into bringing his friends, she was wrong as she chuckled and saw the group passing in the hallway to go in the basement.
"Thanks, just let us know when we can eat, the munchkin forgot to eat," Jonathan said before taking the stairs.
"Not a munchkin, I'm only three years younger and I just forget that I need to eat," Kai muttered as she followed him the second. She was a respectable five-feet-four, it was just the age, the disadvantage.
The others just grunted their greetings. Marco and Addryen had brought their bags and scattered the papers on the different tables some made plastic, glass and others of wood. The papers filled with information and updates of the fact that these scientists were sighted. They needed to do a last minute meeting. They had a secret hideout where all the pine jailers of their hell and the suspected targets hanging on the wall with a picture and a description. They have maps and info everywhere, and it was daily guarded, twenty-four/seven and impossible to enter without the proper code. They would need to sneak in soon.
As they glanced to the last data collected by Addryen about the Resistance ready to change location if possible. Loyalty within the teens and young adults that may sound like they were in a sect, but they weren't, they could back out at any time and information was openly circulating within the group. This was it the group of resistance that they assemble and reunited earlier from their Pack MoonLightning. They could trust with their life and have them back them up. It started by them, just the eight, and it grew bigger and bigger not like through social media but the old way, message, meeting talking face to face. It took time for the past two years to build up their group. They had allies from the three other Packs nearby, the Alphas'word and their respective son; Jimmy, Alex, and Medhi. They have observed each of them individually and approached them subtly. The fact that some shape-shifters were rank high within the MoonLightning or tightly knit with their family did not sit well with Kai because it was hazardous. Kai thought about including Danny, a tracker and much more older than any of them; twenty-seven years old. On the suppose the only central fact that it would be useful to have a tracker with good records, no affiliation to any of the six (family blood ties).
Additionally, that tracker could be helpful to have on their side to back them up quickly, from their Pack, she had to muse her opinion to the guys who were reluctant to consider the possibility, they were wary. Trusted was earned not for granted. This was the team, their group that will help accomplish their goal no matter what. They have followed protocol and sign form of confidentiality and a clause none disclosure unless in court. They knew some could die, some would go in a trial, and hopeful find the culprits of many crimes and rot in jail. For the six of them plus Addryen and Marco, they were the leaders and the one who works and knew that there's were a slim chance that any of them will survive. They had started taken precaution two years ago and keep working on it while taking into account other social issues and pack issue. They were dammed, and they knew they were fighting into a living burning warm fire but there's was no other choice. They closed the door of the basement; it was soundproof and acted as a bunker in case of an emergency.
"I can't believe it," Matt raged out. " How come the government is doing nothing! We have been telling them, and all they say to the Alphas is to stay alert and be careful. WHAT THE HELL!"
"Isn't their job?" Kai whispered, 'the job of the CreaGic people to arrest and conducted an investigation.'
"The government has by abiding by the justice system and sadly to bring justice they needed evidence and since nothing was left in the different crime scenes, the evidence is hard for them to pick up without any actual proof that this happens," Phil explained you could see he spend time reading and tried to make sense of everything. To be prepared.
Kenden and Ralph swore loudly, but the soundproof basement didn't reach out farther than the room where they were circling. Kai sat down exhausted from the event and just listened to the boys-young men.
"It's already a lost battle! We are just defending like the talion law like any parents want to do everything for their children," Phil reasoned, "we have the Resistance with us and they will help... okay because they believed in the case and were affected by this event."
They knew how asshole Rowan was. As much as respectful they wanted to be, Rowan Woody and Karen Woody were just werewolves that didn't deserve their title. There are currently suspicions circulation on other Packs that arise but with no concrete evidence that they were at fault. They couldn't found the evidence yet, but each of their suspected targets was listed by category by their Packs. Sad to say her parents and all the parents of the victims were under suspicious in their goal. They were also looking who would be likely the possible targets but nothing tangible. It was frustrating them because it sb ben two tears they were trying to play their part like good people but nothing was happening at the CreaGic government nor their leaders of the pack were acting fast enough.
They tried to implicate themselves but immediately frowned upon by their entourage who didn't understand their situation and just said that the government and the system of justice are there to make things work and that you little revolution" won't work and just end up skipping school.
Like they were going to do something with that damm diploma if they were not gonna survive because a threat was set targeting them. They were running out of time, and the fact that their preys were spot means only one thing, they were also preparing on their side their revenge. Out to kill them, in the next week, it was just a self-fulfilling prophecy to see the next waves of attack and their leaders f their packs would do nothing but stand back and not care of the collateral damage and just eat them dead. Who they were suspecting on other sheet was their targets of those scientists and personal. They were either to be brought injustice or burn to hell in dying the worst possible way
" What did the Hunters and their Hunterhood said?"
The Hunters were people from different species but mainly human or acutely good with their senses to track and discover whoever their targets. They were like the spies of the human species but only more deadly and not divided into small groups like some stories and movies spotlight them. They were Hunterhood, they were also the ones who found them that crucial night/day in that cave during their escape after of year of disappearance. The six hunters from different nationalities were Geof, Javier. Li, Kanaye, Ebony, and Akoni, they were the nice Hunters who helped them medically and to found their home, their friends and their family as safe and sound as possible.
"They assured us that the alliance was maintained, we have their support and we just need to say the words. We don't need to worry, they are already making plans to be nearby as they heard rumors of renegades and other waves of attacks."
"Did they say if they wish to stay in the nearby Pack territory?
"That's the plan," Kenden intervened, he was the peacemaker and was most secluded into working behind to help the Resistance maneuvers
"We should start on homework a bit before calling to eat, and when completed we finish this discussion," Kai suggested as she saw how the time flies and if they were downstairs just talking, it would be suspicious.
They ate, work on their homework for those still at school and settle the papers scattered on the different tables, read off the information, Phil and Jonathan were commenting off their readings and sometimes one of them would respond. They couldn't trust anyone, it was plain and simple.
