Synopsis !

Aris was beautiful. She always had been. When she was a little girl, all she ever heard was, "You are so lovely" or "Aren't you a pretty one ?"

Aris didn't mind. She was a child that everyone seemed to love. And she didn't even have to do anything to earn that love. The girl could simply smile her pearly white smile and everyone was crowding her, asking her to be their friend.

But as she grew older, she realised that everyone talked about her beauty. Only her beauty. No one ever asked for her opinion in serious conversations, thinking she wouldn't be smart enough to contribute. No one ever asked her to spar because they assumed she wouldn't be enough of a challenge. Her girl friends started seeing as a threat. Her guy friends started seeing her as a piece of meat.

That's all she was. Pretty. Nothing more.

So yes, Aris was angry. Angry enough to say, "Screw this" and leave Camp to join the Titans. Yeah, if the point she was trying to make was that she's smart, it probably wasn't the best decision. But Aris didn't care. She was too angry and too hurt and too alone to care.

Of course she got royally fucked over. Karma came and bit her in her incredibly good looking ass. The Titans were defeated. The Black Throne was toppled. Kronos was dead and he took Luke Castellan (the only person who had actually given a shit about her) down with him. And Aris was right back where she started. At Camp Jupiter. Except this time, everyone had the good sense to leave her alone.

Well, almost. Jason Grace was incapable of minding his own business. And then, after weeks of never leaving her alone, he goes and disappears. And even then Aris couldn't catch a fucking break ! Because even with him gone, he somehow still found a way to torment her. Gods, she hated him so much.

I DO NOT OWN Heroes of Olympus or any other part of the Riordanverse. They rightfully belong to Rick Riordan. I only own Aris and her storylines.

I got this idea while reading Gold Rush by @northlt03 (which is seriously amazing by the way, go check it out). Aris just popped up into my mind and she is so angry and such a badass and I love her.

Now, there will be some serious themes touched in this book, mostly regarding beauty and beauty standards and ways people view each other in society. I wanted to have another look into Aphrodite/Venus. Because of this and Aris as a person, her and Piper will have a very very complicated relationship. Aris is not nice to her. In fact, she's not nice. She is not a good person. She is selfish and doesn't care if things don't affect her. She is jaded and angry and really really dark and mean.

I also decided to rewrite it since it only really gets interesting from Mark of Athena onwards and while Son of Neptune does kind of build Aris' character and her dynamic with the SoN trio but it also doesn't seem as necessary when I can incorporate it directly into Mark of Athena.
