CHAPTER NINETEEN
"How's your day?" Riwon asked when her boyfriend entered the room with food in his hand. He knew she hated the hospital's food so he bought her favourite food.
Jungwon took a seat beside her bed and placed the food on the table. "I'm missing you.." He pouted, looking at her making Riwon giggled. She pinched his cheek, "You're saying that everyday. Wait for a few days, I will get out of here."
Riwon smiled excitedly when he opened the food container and let her eat. Jungwon watched her eating, recording her face that he found cute. "Did my parents never come to see me?" She asked, stop eating.
Jungwon looked at Riwon before he placed his hand on top of hers. He sighed, "They did come.. for twice."
"It's okay. It's not surprising. They never cared about me, it's always Miwon. I'm already used to it. Maybe it's easier for them if I just die."
"Hey, hey, Riwon.. listen. Don't say that. Even though they barely showed affection towards you, they still love you. No one wants you to die, don't ever say that again. I will be sad.." Jungwon wiped the tears that came out from his girlfriend's eyes.
"I just wanted to be loved by them.. why is it so hard?" She cried, hugging her knees.
"Shh, don't cry. If they can't give you the amount of love you want, I will give you everything. I will give you all my love, my whole heart. I belong to you, my love belongs to you." He comforted her. Jungwon asked if she wanted to be in a wheelchair and have a view around the hospital and she nodded.
Jungwon carried her from the bed before putting her on the wheelchair. He tucked her hair behind the ear, placed a kiss on her left cheek before pushing the wheelchair. He brought Riwon around and stopped at the park. Jungwon made sure to stop the wheelchair under the tree so that Riwon wouldn't feel hot because of the weather and sun.
"The sky is so pretty. Staring at the sky reminds me of you." Jungwon said.
"Why?"
"Because I always caught you looking at the sky. I wondered what's so mesmerizing about it to the point you didn't move a bit despite the bright sunlight."
"The clouds. I was watching the clouds move. Sometimes I figured out the shape of the clouds. But I enjoyed the night time more. I love the moon." Riwon said while fully smiling.
That night, Jungwon brought her to the rooftop to watch the moon together. At first, Riwon didn't want to go because it's night and cold. She doesn't want Jungwon to feel cold but seeing how excited he is to bring her to the rooftop, she just lets him do what he wants.
Obviously no one was there since it's nearly 10 PM and she's supposed to be in her bed. Riwon smiled when she saw the bright moon in the sky. Jungwon pushed the wheelchair a little bit further before stopping in front of the empty bench. He helped Riwon to sit on the bench and sat beside her.
Countless stars in the sky, making the night look so pretty. Riwon is always stargazing from her room's window, with a book about stars by her side. If before this, she's stargazing alone.. now she's not anymore. She has Jungwon.
"The moon is pretty isn't it?" Riwon suddenly asked, turning her head at him.
Jungwon looked at her before slowly smiling. "It is.."
"But do you know what's prettier than the moon? It's you, Jungwon." When she said that, she chuckled, feeling a little bit embarrassed.
"I wish time could stop. I want to stay like this forever with you. Lots of things happened while being in this relationship but I never regretted choosing to stay. You made me stronger day by day. If people ask the reason why I am still alive in this shitty world, I will say your name.
No matter wherever I go, even abandoned islands, as long as I'm with you, I don't mind." Riwon said.
"I think the same too. I want to have a future with you." Jungwon hugged her.

Jungwon helped Riwon bring her things into the house, watched by her mom. She got discharged today. Her mom didn't say anything and just let Jungwon enter the house.
"Hey, lunch is ready. Ask your boyfriend if he wants to have lunch with us." Miwon told Riwon.
She nodded and told Jungwon to just put the things at the side of the stairs before both of them went to the kitchen. Riwon's dad was sitting while reading the newspaper. Jungwon bowed to the elders and took a seat beside Riwon. He didn't forget to always smile whenever look at them.
They eat the food quietly when Miwon suddenly said, "For someone like you.. to have such a nice good looking boyfriend.. you're so lucky." Riwon didn't say anything and just continued eating. She didn't have the energy to talk with her sister.
"So, when are you guys going to break up?"
"Mom? Why did you say that.. we're not going to break up." Riwon put the chopsticks back at the table. She's slowly losing her appetite.
"Oh, so you're going to go against your own mom? You should be grateful I let this boy take care of you because he got you a nice room that we could never afford. Now, it's the time to end everything."
"No, mom. Jungwon did everything for me. He loves me. I'm not breaking up with him just because you told me so" Riwon never went against her mom's words but if it's about Jungwon, she didn't give a fck about it.
"Kim Riwon! You're taking the CSAT this year, are you going to let a boy distract you from your study?"
"He's not a distraction. I'm still the top student in school."
"But soon you will—"
"Mom! Enough— ah.." Riwon touched the place where she got stabbed. Even though the wound was healed, she's not fully recovered.
Jungwon immediately put down his chopsticks and checked up on Riwon. "Are you okay? You shouldn't talk and move a lot."
"If you're done eating, you should go. It's not good to be in this house for a long time." Riwon got up and walked away, to her room.
Jungwon watched her and turned to look at her parents. "I guess.. I'm going now. Thank you for the food, Mr and Mrs Kim." He took his jacket before leaving the house.
As he's walking, he bumped into Hwang Sera. His eyes met her and he just nodded before walking past her.
"Did you live around here?" She asked, turning around.
"Yeah,"
"Omg, same?! Actually, I just recently moved here. I lived alone in that apartment." Sera pointed at the tall building not far away from them and Riwon's house. "Don't forget to drop by my house if you have time. See ya!" Sera waved before walking away.
Jungwon rolled his eyes. "Drop by her house? I don't have time for that. Ah.. right. Riwon is coming back to school soon! I should prepare something."
———
"I hate you, mom!" She slammed the door before walking to the convenience store. Riwon pulled up her hoodie, covered her head.
She's getting sick living in that house. It's always 'break up with Jungwon'. Her mom wouldn't stop saying that until it actually happened. She's not just strict, she's literally controlling her life. She can't do anything without her mom's permission and liking.
Riwon opened the fridge, staring at the strawberry milk she always bought for Jungwon when she's still in her crush phase. "Jungwon still didn't know I was the sender for the strawberry milk.. I will tell him that later." She smiled before going to pay for it.
After that, she sat at the table outside of the convenience store. She saw a girl sitting not far away from her, looking sad with her head down. "Sera..?" She recognized her own classmates.
Riwon walked up to her, "Hey Sera.. are you okay?" She asked and the girl looked at her. She seems surprised. "Riwon? You know me?"
"Hahaha! Of course I am! You're my classmates after all."
"Oh.. to think a top student like you remembered my name, I feel honoured." Sera smiled.
"Why do you look so sad? Something's happened between you and Heeseung?" Riwon took a seat in front of her.
"Ah.. you probably don't know this but we've broken up."
"Why? You guys look like a great couple."
"I can't stay by his side anymore. He's toxic and manipulative. He's passive and wouldn't let me talk to boys even though he knows they're just friends." She said,
"Oh my goodness.. I never knew he'd be like that. It's okay, Sera. You're pretty and kind. I'm sure you will get a better boyfriend soon. Everyone wants to be with you." Riwon comforted her.
"Right.. I'm pretty but I still can't make him like me back. Why?? Maybe I look ugly in his eyes." She suddenly broke down in tears.
Riwon didn't know what to do. She just went back into the convenience store, getting her a tissue. "You like someone?"
"Yeah.."
"Did he reject you?"
Sera nodded.
"Hah! He must be blind. How can someone reject you? He's literally the dumbest person to ever exist. Don't worry, Sera. Find someone else. You're just wasting your time on someone like him. Such a jerk." Riwon rolled her eyes, feeling annoyed.
Sera chuckled. "Thanks for comforting me and yeah.. I will try my best to move on because I love him so much. Thanks again, Riwon."
"Uh, Riwon.. can we be friends? You see.. I don't really have any good friends. They only come to me when they need me and leave me alone when they don't need me."
"Sure, Sera. We can be friends!"
"Thank you, Riwon. Thank you.." Sera looked away as she grinned.
