packing

chapter twenty-seven ;; packing
jeongguk's perspective
°..:*°

"T-Tae," I hesitantly ask into the morning hours, rubbing my tired and still drowsy eyes with the back of my hand. I wiped off painful eye crust clinging to my skin while slowly sitting up, "It's Saturday. Why are you waking me up so early?" I groan, eyes still adjusting to the world around, which currently only consisted of a boy sitting on the bed in front of me.

"Morning." Is all he speaks with a soft and low voice, leaning forward to capture me in a sweet peck on the lips. I still wasn't used to the regular kisses he ensued, but Friday was a day spent with new experiences of quick kisses shared in the school hallway and nice side hugs.

"What are you doing?" I whine, letting my head fall forward, comfortably landing on Taehyung's strong shoulder. My body was exceptionally tired today, not wanting to move at all. Ultimately, I felt weak and wanted to rest but knew that I couldn't. It would upset Taehyung.

"I'm packing up your stuff." Taehyung nonchalantly tells me before walking back over to the closet, where he nicely folds and places my clothes into a large suitcase.

"What? Why? Where are we going?" It was too early for me to calculate anything or put together the words Taehyung was saying properly. My mind was reading the words on the page but it wasn't making sense of them.

"You said yes to moving in with me." Taehyung softly explains and glances over before continuing to take out my things and put them in the suitcase. It made me feel uneasy.

"N-No I didn't." I love my townhouse more than anything.

It has taken years of collecting and rearranging things about to make it compatible with what I like. Seeing all of the work go to waste made me extremely sad. Of course, I'd love to live with Taehyung, but I don't want to leave here. It was familiar. It's not like I saw father at all while retrieving the monthly pay I received. The paper was sent via mail, to where I'd open up an envelope filled, and it was my responsibility to put it in a bank account for safe keeping.

"Yes, you did, on the night when we were in my car." He turns with serious eyes, pulling another shirt off of a coat hanger, "I'm not allowing you to live off of that bastard anymore." Instead of nicely folding the soft material, Taehyung throws it into the suitcase with anger and turns back to my closet, "I haven't even met the guy, and I already want to kill him." I gulped at his darkened tone, and my eyes fluttered for a moment. I knew that Taehyung could get angered easily, but this time seemed a whole lot more real, like he was already coming up with plans on how to murder Father. Taehyung sadly sighs, staring down at his feet before glancing over at me, "Sorry, I know you don't like it when I talk like that."

I nod to acknowledge his apology but continue, "I said yes to being with you, not living with you."

"Sorry, baby, but that was part of the deal." My cheeks instantly turn aflame at the words, and it contrasted with the black messy bed hair on the top of my head. Taehyung softly chuckles and slowly zips up the suitcase not containing many items to be moving in with someone, "I'm just joking, don't worry," he softly smiles while walking over and sitting down across from me again, so my legs are right against his side, "but I want you to stay at my place for a week, just to test it out, y'know?" Taehyung's hand snakes up my neck and nicely places itself onto my cold cheek.

I enjoyed it when he cupped my face. It made me feel like a prize possession, and there was always a softness in the caress of his rough hands making me purr with satisfaction and contentment. Taehyung knew that. He knew how'd melt, and he knew to do it whenever I'd tense up. It's like an alarm goes off in his head, one that indicates to start doing something in order to calm. This time it ended in a tender kiss placed onto my rosy lips still dry from sleep. Taehyung knew a lot about me now.

"That's okay," I softly speak after Taehyung pulls away. My eyes remained closed for a moment longer, not daring to bend the content feeling of it all. Taehyung's hand does leave my face, but it instantly meets my bangs where he runs his fingers through, "but did you really have to wake me up so early?"

He lets out a laugh, slightly throwing his head back in the process. When watching Taehyung laugh to what I said, I feel like I've done something right. It wasn't another depressing comment leaving him silent, but it was a retort causing a bright smile and a lively sound.

----

Taehyung's house was large, ginormous, grand. It instantly rid of all the thoughts on how I was going to be a financial burden if I did decide to live with him. There was no way his family could go through any normal financial problems with how high they seem to live. It made me feel out of place at how my living quarters were small, a mere townhouse with a low rent.

Taehyung pulls into a parking spot in their large driveway containing sports cars occupying the others with an amused sort of smile, noticing my widened eyes while staring over at the fountain in the front. Without a word, he turns off the car and slides out of his seat. Taehyung comes to my side with a quick jog in order to open my door.

"I know, it's a bit much," He speaks and takes my hand, pulling me out of the comfy seat, "but my parents are very wealthy, thankfully. They went to the orphanage because they felt like one child wasn't enough for their large house, and they didn't want the troubles of having another baby, being entrepreneurs and all."

There was a large courtyard in front of the mansion made out of stones, large stairs leading up to the front door that was oak. A graceful water fountain of granite stood in the middle. Water sprayed in a lovely formation. Mesmerizing, a rainbow casting off of the spritz with the sunny sky gleaming down on our intertwined hands. The sound of suitcase wheels clacking in between the smooth stone sounded from behind my wandering feet.

We walk up the steps, Taehyung having less trouble as his legs were longer, and he didn't have to carry the rather heavy suitcase. In the end, he took the suitcase out of my dainty hands and carried it up himself. I trotted behind quietly, too caught up in the environment. I felt like a puppy following their owner when they don't quite understand what to do. I don't understand what to do in most situations anyways.

Taehyung lets the suitcase drop off of his shoulder with a loud thud, pulling up the handle afterwards and presenting it to me while wrapping an arm around my waist. I gladly took hold of the suitcase once again, a smug smile on Taehyung's face where I was helplessly looking around with curious eyes. His tanned hand grips around the golden colored door handle, pulling it open with a heavy tug so that we can both stand inside.

My small feet were met with black hard wood floors placed in a grand opening that had a large staircase. It started from both ends of the room and met in the middle to create an elegant appearance. No wonder Taehyung could afford the food at the fancy restaurant we went to. There were dark oak arches lining the openings leading into other rooms that went down a long hallway in between the staircases. The walls were white, a trio of blacks with intermixed grays were the color scheme, and I absolutely loved it.

An extravagant and curvy chandelier was the focal point as it hung extremely low for the ceiling raised so high. There was a corner that was left blank, assuming that it'd be a place for the Christmas tree when time comes around. I hoped to be here for Christmas and be able to spend it with everyone, especially Taehyung.

"Taehyung?" A loud and formal female voice hums, followed by the clacking of heels against the wood. His grip around my waist seems to tighten as I'm drawn closer, "I'm glad to see you here. It's such a rare occurrence these days." She chuckles with a wide smile although there was a bitter and forced undertone. I felt uncomfortable, "Oh! And who's this lovely boy on your arm?" The woman, who I assume is Taehyung's mom, looks over at me with a curious gaze, and I gulp in anxiety.

"This is Jeon Jeongguk." Taehyung explains, and I hesitantly reach forward to shake her somehow elegant hand.

"Hello, Mrs. Min, I'm Jeon Jeongguk, Taehyung's, uh-"

"-boyfriend." My posture stiffened relaxed with a wave of worry rolling away, giddy that Taehyung could say things like that now. I had no time of an awkward mental back and forth on how I should address myself when the elder boy next to me is here, broad shoulders straightened and joyous smile evident. Did he find pride in me?

"Yeah, boyfriend."

"Boyfriend?" Maybe she grinned a bit too widely, rather astonished looking, "That's rather unlike you, Tae. Finally maturing?" Taehyung didn't find that so funny, "I can safely assume that you're the person my son's been staying with for quite some time now?" A revelation was playing in her head, and I think she enjoyed the idea of Taehyung finally settling for the time being.

"That's right, Mrs. Min."

"And where do you live, Jeongguk?" Her eyes squint ever so slightly, and I was undeniably intimidated by the lady that was overpowering me with high heels of at least four inches. She was almost as tall as Taehyung, even.

"I- I live with myself." I shift uncomfortably under her gaze that consisted of raised eyebrows.

"And why is that?" She asks me.

"I'd rather not say, Mrs. Min." Being formal was slowly becoming more and more difficult with each passing second of her sharp stare I'm sure any questioning mother holds when learning about her child's newfound partner.

"Mom, please, Guk's just staying here for a week." Taehyung finally cuts in, avoiding the tension that was consistently rising at an alarming speed. I think I'd have sweat droplets if this were an anime.

"Of course, sorry for giving you any worries. I'm sure that you're a very kind boy suitable enough for my son."

"Th-Thank you, Mrs. Min, I really appreciate your blessing."

Mrs. Min lightly laughs, "Of course, Jeongguk, no need to thank me. Make yourself at home."

I only nervously smile as a response, watching her spin on heels and sashay down the long hallway in between the staircases, "My god, that was terrifying."

"I'm proud of you, though. It's hard to get my mom to like someone-"

"Are my punk ass eyes deceiving me, or is baby Jeon Jeongguk standing rather closely to my little brother? I see that he finally pushed his ass to ask you out." A particular person calls from the tall staircase with bright mint hair. Smiles form on faces at the favorited sight.

"Yoongi, will you shut up?" Taehyung asks with an embarrassed annoyance. Yoongi's mint hair jumps up and down as he bounces down the staircase with a sly smile on his pale face.

"No such thing as me shutting up." Yoongi retorts, "Anyway, why is Jeongguk here? He never comes over."

"I'm staying for the week." Taehyung looked surprised at how I answered for myself. It seemed like he always answered things for me, and I started to not like it very much, but I knew that he meant no harm as a consequence.

Yoongi's eyebrows raise like his mother's, "Well then, I'll try not to get in your guy's way too much."

"C'mon," Taehyung says once Yoongi turns to what I assume is the kitchen, taking hold of my hand and beginning to guide me down the long hallway excitedly, "my room's down here."
