Author's Note / Glossary of Terms
Sungkyunkwan Scandal is one of my favorite Korean dramas of all time. In this fic, I've taken a leaf from the comments on the drama recap site Dramabeans and tried to continue the story, taking into consideration what might and could have happened after the events of the drama...
--------------------------------------
gisaeng - courtesan, similar to the Japanese geisha
hyungnim - older brother, or in Chosun's case, an honorific for an older sister or one who stands in a similar relationship
doryeon-nim - young master
makgeolli - rice wine
baksa - doctor, professor
yangban - noble
oraboni - formal appellation for an older brother or one who stands in a similar relationship
Jalgeum - literally, "trickling"; the gisaengs nicknamed the four friends the Jalgeum Quartet because, they said, looking at them made them feel...
Yeorim - Yong-ha's nickname, "playboy" (well actually it is literally "female forest" which is an allusion to... you get the picture. In the drama he tells Hyo-eun a more innocuous meaning though-- he claims it's because he's always surrounded by a lot of women, hence "a forest of females")
Georoh - Jae-shin's nickname, "crazy horse"
Daemul - Yoon-hee's nickname, "big one"
Garang - Sun-joon's nickname, "perfect husband"
