The Wolves of Isengard
As Legolas and Saya stood on the hillock, watching over the plains, a gust of wind swept through the valley below. The golden light of the setting sun illuminated the distant ridges when suddenly two horsemen, Hama and Gamling, rode past them, looking tense. Confused, Legolas narrowed his eyes as the horsemen slowed.
"What is it, Hama?" Gamling asked, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, eyes scanning the horizon.
"I'm not sure," Hama replied cautiously. Before they could investigate further, a dark shadow loomed above them. On the cliff face, a Warg with its snarling rider appeared, leaping down the rocky slope with terrifying speed.
Hama barely had time to react as the Warg rammed into him, throwing him off his horse. Just before the beast could strike again, a sudden torrent of water surged forward, crashing into the Warg with the force of a waterfall.
"Water Style: Raging Waves!" shouted Liv as she finished a series of rapid hand seals, spewing water from her mouth in a powerful jet, forcing the Warg back and saving Hama from the fatal strike.
Hama groaned, struggling to his feet. "Are you alright?" Liv asked, concern in her voice as she kept her eyes on the battlefield.
"I'm fine," he panted, nodding his thanks. But the danger was far from over.
Aragorn and Éowyn, hearing the commotion, turned just in time to see more Wargs charging toward them. "Wargs!" Gamling shouted as he engaged a rider in a fierce swordfight.
Without hesitation, Legolas and Saya sprinted down the hill, their movements swift and precise. Legolas fired an arrow mid-run, striking a Warg squarely in the eye, killing it instantly. Saya, using her ninja agility, threw a kunai with deadly accuracy, hitting the rider in the throat. The orc fell lifeless from the beast.
Aragorn appeared at Legolas's side, eyes scanning the horizon. "A scout," Legolas said grimly, lowering his bow.
Aragorn's expression darkened. He sprinted down the hill toward the gathering people. "Wargs! We're under attack!" he called out to Theoden, who had just ridden up.
Theoden's face turned grim as he processed the news. "Get them out of here!" Aragorn urged, watching as panic rippled through the Rohan refugees. Women and children scrambled for safety, their frightened cries filling the air.
"All riders to the head of the column!" Theoden commanded, rallying his men.
Meanwhile, Gimli was having his own struggle with his horse, awkwardly trying to mount. "Come on, get me up here. I'm a rider!" he barked, frustrated.
As chaos spread, Liv, knowing Saya needed her own mount, summoned a horse with a wave of her samurai morpher. "Symbol Power: Horse!" she said, and a sleek, battle-ready steed appeared for Saya a horse named Stormy.
Legolas ran to the top of a small rise and froze at the sight before him. A mass of Wargs and their riders, an endless sea of death, thundered towards them.
"Legolas!" Liv shouted, seeing the same sight, fear creeping into her voice as she grabbed her katana.
Theoden, realizing the urgency of the situation, rode up to Éowyn. "You must lead the people to Helm's Deep! Make haste!" he ordered, his voice edged with desperation.
"I can fight!" Éowyn protested, her hand already reaching for her sword.
"No. You must do this—for me," Theoden said, his eyes softening as he made her understand her responsibility.
Liv knelt before her daughter, Lily, who clung to her leg, tears welling in her eyes. "Mommy, don't leave!" Lily pleaded.
Liv kissed the top of Lily's head, her voice gentle but firm. "I have to, sweetie. Go with Éowyn. She will protect you."
"Be careful, Mommy," Lily whimpered.
"I always am," Liv replied, though her heart ached as she stood up.
Éowyn's face hardened as she took Lily's hand. "Stay together," she commanded, leading the people away.
Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Legolas was a blur of movement, firing arrows with precision. As he turned, a Warg lunged toward Gimli, who was still struggling with his horse.
"Bring your pretty face to my axe!" Gimli shouted defiantly, swinging his axe in time to kill the charging Warg.
Legolas rode through the battle, firing from Arod's back, his arrows striking down enemies with every shot. Saya was by his side, throwing shuriken and kunai knives at the oncoming Warg riders. She drew her arm blade and met her enemies head-on, her strikes lethal and swift.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!" Liv and Saya shouted simultaneously, releasing twin streams of fire that engulfed several Warg riders in flames.
David, not wanting to be left behind, raised his hands. "Water Style: Water Whip Jutsu!" he called, conjuring a whip of water that cracked through the battlefield, slicing through orcs.
But just as victory seemed within reach, disaster struck. Liv fell, a sharp pain shooting up her leg as she twisted her ankle. Gritting her teeth, she forced herself back to her feet, katana in hand.
Aragorn, caught in the chaos, was thrown from his horse as a Warg rider charged past. He grabbed hold of the Warg's saddle, pulling himself onto the beast's back, engaging the orc in a brutal fight. As the Warg barreled toward a cliff, Aragorn stabbed the rider and struggled to free himself, but it was too late. Both he and the Warg tumbled over the edge, disappearing into the abyss below.
The battle wound down, but the toll was heavy. Theoden surveyed the field of fallen men and orcs. "Get the wounded on horses. The wolves of Isengard will return. Leave the dead," he ordered, his voice heavy with grief.
Legolas, his face pale with worry, searched frantically for Aragorn. "Aragorn!" he called, his voice echoing across the field. Gimli and Liv joined him, their expressions equally grim.
Legolas spotted something gleaming in the grass and bent down to pick it up—the Evenstar, Aragorn's pendant. His heart sank as he clutched the token. A dying orc, lying nearby, let out a laugh.
"Tell me what happened, and I will ease your passing," Gimli growled, raising his axe.
"He's dead," the orc rasped, coughing blood. "He took a little tumble off the cliff."
"You lie!" Legolas snarled, grabbing the orc by the collar, but the creature's life had already slipped away.
Theoden placed a hand on Legolas's shoulder. "Come," he said softly, though the weight of the loss was heavy in his eyes.
Legolas, shaken, held onto the Evenstar, staring into the river below. Liv approached him, placing a hand on his arm. "Hey, we'll find him," she said, her voice firm, though her own heart raced with doubt.
Legolas shook his head. "How can you be so sure? He's my best friend. I'm going down there," he said, his voice cracking.
Liv's eyes softened. "Legolas, have you gone mad? The only one going down there is me," she said, her tone resolute.
"You? You can't!" Legolas protested. "Mom will kill me if anything happens to you!"
David, who had been quietly watching, interjected, "Liv, you have to tell him."
Legolas looked between them, confused. "Tell me what?"
Liv sighed, her eyes flickering with hesitation. "I'm a mermaid, Legolas. I can breathe underwater."
Legolas blinked in disbelief. "You're a what?"
"A mermaid. But if you tell anyone, I swear I'll end you," Liv smirked, trying to ease the tension.
Legolas pulled her into a hug, still clutching the Evenstar. "Thanks, Liv," he whispered, holding her tightly.
"That's what sisters are for," Liv said with a small smile. "But let's get back to the others before Theoden sends Hama and Gamling after us."
With one last glance over the cliff's edge, the group began their weary trek back to the others, hope flickering in their hearts, even if only faintly.
