The King of the Golden Hall
As the sun sets over the plains of Rohan, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Aragorn, Liv, David, Saya, and Lily halt their horses and gaze at Edoras in the distance.
"Edoras and the Golden Hall of Meduseld. There dwells Théoden, King of Rohan, whose mind is now under Saruman's control," Gandalf explains, his voice tinged with concern.
Inside the Golden Hall, Éowyn kneels beside her uncle, King Théoden, holding his hand tightly. Her eyes are filled with tears as she speaks, "My lord, your son, Théodred, is dead. My lord? Uncle, will you not go to him? Will you do nothing?"
Théoden remains unresponsive, his eyes vacant and distant.
Back outside Edoras, Gandalf turns to the group, his gaze settling on David. "Be careful what you say. Do not expect a warm welcome here. I am speaking to you, David."
Liv smirks, "Oh, burn."
David shoots her a playful look. "Some girlfriend you are."
Legolas, with a raised eyebrow, interjects, "What is it with you two constantly insulting each other?"
Liv chuckles, "We just like joking around. If you think David and I are bad, you should see our friends Sai and Ino from the Hidden Leaf Village. They're always at each other's throats, even though they're a couple."
Saya nods, "There was this one time Sai broke a vase in their house, and Ino started yelling insults at him."
David laughs, "And it was all in good fun."
As they approach the gates of Edoras, the standard on the flagpole flutters loose and is carried away by the wind. Aragorn observes a maiden in white standing solemnly in front of the Golden Hall. "You'll find more cheer in a graveyard," Gimli quips.
"This place reminds me of Royal Academy after the whole Alias Academy fiasco," David remarks.
Liv glances at him with concern. "Honey, maybe don't say that out loud."
"My bad," David apologizes.
Their young daughter, Lily, tugs at Liv's sleeve, "Mommy, where are we?"
"We're in Rohan, sweetie," Liv replies, pulling Lily closer.
As they dismount, Aragorn notices the maiden in white has vanished. They climb the steps to the Golden Hall. "Lily, stay close to me and your father," Liv instructs.
"Okay, Mommy," Lily replies, hiding behind her parents.
Hama and his guards emerge from the Hall, blocking their path. "I cannot allow you to see the king armed, Gandalf Greyhame. By order of Gríma Wormtongue," Hama states sternly.
Gandalf nods to the others. They reluctantly hand over their weapons. Saya discreetly slides her arm blade further up her sleeve, while Liv hides a kunai knife.
"Your staff," Hama demands.
"Hmmm. You would not part an old man from his walking stick," Gandalf replies with a knowing smile.
Hama looks uncertain but eventually allows them to proceed, his worry evident. Gandalf, with a sly wink to Aragorn and Liv, follows Hama, holding onto Legolas' arm. Aragorn and Gimli follow closely. Hama pauses at the door, letting them pass.
Inside, Gríma Wormtongue sits beside Théoden. "My lord, Gandalf the Grey is coming. He's a herald of woe," Gríma murmurs.
"The courtesy of your hall is somewhat diminished of late, Théoden King," Gandalf remarks, his tone clipped.
A group of intimidating guards follow them, their presence heavy with menace. "He's not welcome," Gríma whispers to Théoden.
"Why should I welcome you, Gandalf Stormcrow?" Théoden asks, his voice flat and devoid of its former strength.
"A just question, my liege. Late is the hour in which this conjurer chooses to appear. Lathspell, I name him. Ill news is an ill guest," Gríma sneers.
"Be silent. Keep your forked tongue behind your teeth. I have not passed through fire and death to bandy crooked words with a witless worm," Gandalf retorts, lifting his staff menacingly.
"His staff. I told you to take the wizard's staff," Gríma orders.
The menacing guards move to attack Gandalf. Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli, Liv, David, and Saya spring into action. Liv stomps on the ground, causing it to turn to ice. "Ice Style: Ice Floor," she announces, the floor freezing under the guards' feet.
David swiftly forms hand seals. "Water Style: Ripping Torrent," he declares, sending a powerful stream of water hurtling towards the guards.
Liv follows up with another ice-style technique. "Ice Style: Whirlwind!" she shouts, unleashing a flurry of ice shards that encase the guards.
Saya completes the assault with a fiery jutsu. "Fire Style: Burning Ash," she says, spewing a stream of burning ash at the trapped guards.
Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli watch in awe at the display of power. "Impressive," Aragorn remarks.
Gimli nods, "Indeed. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it."
Gríma, in a desperate move, grabs Lily, who is hiding behind Liv and David. "Mommy, daddy, help!" Lily cries out.
Liv spins around, drawing the kunai knife concealed in her sleeve. "Hey, you freak! Hands off my daughter!" she shouts, throwing the kunai. It embeds itself in the pillar next to Gríma.
"I would stay still if I were you. How dare you harm a child," Gimli growls, stepping forward and pinning Gríma to the floor with one foot.
"Thanks, Gimli. I'll handle this," Liv says, her voice cold. "You're lucky it's me you're dealing with and not the Fifth Hokage. She would make you wish you'd never set foot in this kingdom. For now, I'll show you the power of the Uchiha."
Gandalf raises his hand, closing his eyes. "Hearken to me. I release you from the spell," he commands.
Theoden laughs mockingly, "You have no power here, Gandalf the Grey."
Gandalf, visibly angered, throws off his grey cloak. A bright white light emanates from him, casting Théoden back into his chair. "I will draw you out, Saruman, as poison is drawn from a wound," Gandalf asserts, thrusting his staff forward.
Eowyn bursts into the room, her eyes wide with concern. She rushes towards Théoden. "Uncle! Let me help him!" she pleads.
Aragorn catches her arm, holding her back. "Wait," he says firmly. "He must do this himself."
Liv approaches Eowyn, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "He'll be alright. You can trust Gandalf."
Eowyn looks at Liv, her eyes still filled with worry. "Are you sure?"
"Yes," Liv reassures her. "Gandalf is very powerful. He knows what he's doing."
Saruman's voice echoes through Théoden. "If I go, Théoden dies."
"You did not kill me, and you will not kill him," Gandalf replies, continuing his advance towards Théoden.
"Rohan is mine," Saruman's voice booms through Théoden once more.
"Be gone," Gandalf commands, his voice firm.
Suddenly, Théoden lunges at Gandalf, but Gandalf thrusts him back with his staff. Saruman is seen falling to the floor in Isengard, bloodied and battered. Théoden slumps forward, and Eowyn rushes to catch him.
Théoden's appearance begins to change. His face becomes younger, his hair and beard shorten, and his eyes regain their clarity. He looks at Eowyn, confusion evident. "I know your face. Éowyn. Éowyn... Gandalf?" he asks, his voice weak but clear.
"Breathe the free air again, my friend," Gandalf says, his voice softening.
Theoden stands shakily, looking at his hands. "Dark have been my dreams of late," he murmurs, lifting his hands and examining them.
"Your fingers would remember their old strength better if they grasped your sword," Gandalf advises.
Hama steps forward, offering Théoden his sword. Théoden takes it, raising it with a sense of renewed purpose. He surveys the room, his gaze eventually settling on Gríma, who is being held down by Gimli.
Gríma is thrown out of the Hall and tumbles down the stairs. Théoden, his steps unsteady but determined, follows him down. "I've only ever served you, my lord," Gríma whimpers, crawling backward.
"Your leechcraft would have had me crawling on all fours like a beast," Théoden declares, advancing on him with purpose.
"Send me not from your sight," Gríma pleads.
Théoden raises his sword, preparing to strike. Aragorn rushes forward, placing a hand on Théoden's arm. "No, my lord. No. Let him go. Enough blood has been spilled on his account," Aragorn says firmly.
Liv, standing beside Aragorn, weaves hand seals. "Wind Style: Gale Palm," she announces, creating a powerful gust of wind that pushes Gríma away from Théoden.
"Liv, was that really necessary?" Aragorn asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Sometimes, you just have to blow them away," Liv replies with a smirk.
Gríma, now safely away from the Hall, scrambles to his feet and flees into the distance. Théoden watches him go, his expression one of resolve.
"Rohan is free," Théoden announces, his voice filled with relief and strength.
Aragorn, Gimli, Gandalf, and the others exchange glances of satisfaction. The burden of darkness lifts from Edoras, and hope begins to rekindle in the hearts of its people.
"Liv, what was that back there?" Legolas asked, his eyes wide with curiosity and concern.
"What, the wind?" Liv responded nonchalantly, though her expression was anything but indifferent.
"No, everything you literally turned the floor to ice and trapped those guards," Legolas said, still incredulous.
"Oh, that was Ice Style, a form of kekkei genkai," Liv explained casually.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Aragorn asked, his brow furrowing in confusion.
"Let's just say it's one of the many things shinobi can do," Liv replied, her tone light but her eyes betraying a hint of seriousness.
"You didn't have those abilities when we were still traveling with the Fellowship," Aragorn remarked, clearly puzzled.
"No, I didn't. The only powers I had back then were my Power Ranger abilities and my Pokémon. I only got these abilities after finding out I'm a member of the Uchiha clan when I was twelve and training under the Fifth Hokage for two and a half years," Liv explained.
"You mentioned something about the Uchiha clan the other day," Legolas said, his interest piqued.
"Do all members of your clan know Ice Style?" Aragorn asked.
"No, just me. I'm the only member of my clan who possesses it. But my other adopted brother is a genin-level shinobi and really good at using Ice Style," Liv replied.
"You have another adopted brother besides me?" Legolas asked, surprised.
"Yes, do you remember Gunnar?" Liv inquired.
"Didn't he play hockey?" Legolas asked, trying to recall.
"I remember we lived with him and our parents at one point, then he left," Legolas said.
"Yes, he still plays hockey. He left because his birth mother forced him to move to Iceland with her. He moved back about a month ago," Liv explained.
"Why didn't he come?" Legolas asked.
"Like I said, he's only a genin, even though we're the exact same age," Liv replied.
"What rank are you?" Legolas asked, his curiosity unabated.
"Me, David, and Saya are all Jonin level," Liv said.
"The funny thing is, I'm the one who trained him. I had to teach him how to manipulate chakra from scratch and then how to wield it," Liv added with a hint of pride.
"Where is he now?" Legolas asked.
"At home with Mom and Dad," Liv replied.
"Does he even know you left?" Legolas inquired, concern edging his voice.
"Oh God, no. He would have told Lady Tsunade. But if we need his help, I'll call him," Liv assured them.
"What about David and Saya? You mentioned the other day that Saya is also a member of the Uchiha clan," Aragorn said.
"Yes, Saya is also a member. There are very few Uchihas left—around 10,000," Liv confirmed.
"What happened to them?" Gimli asked, his curiosity growing.
"There was a member of the Uchiha who was exiled from the clan. His name was Madara Uchiha. For multiple reasons, he wanted revenge, so he slaughtered most of the clan, including his own brother. At the time, the leader of the Uchiha clan built a secret hideout under the Uchiha Temple where the remaining Uchihas fled. To this day, it's not known what happened to that member. Some say he died; some say he went into hiding, plotting his revenge on the Senju clan, the Uchiha clan's allies," Liv recounted.
"Saya actually had to leave the Hidden Leaf Village and go to the Hidden Trees because her family was threatened by Madara's followers. She had no choice but to leave to protect her sister Kara and her mother, my aunt Mizu, who is the current leader of the Uchiha clan," Liv continued.
"And you mentioned that David is a member of the Jirou clan," Aragorn said.
"Yes, he is," Liv confirmed.
"Are the Jirou clan also the Uchihas' allies like the Senju clan?" Aragorn asked.
"Yes, they are. Both clans have an alliance through marriage," Liv explained.
"And Lily—will she inherit both the Jirou and Uchiha bloodlines?" Legolas asked, his tone tinged with both pride and concern.
"Well, she is half Uchiha, even if she took David's last name. With an uncle like you, she'll be unstoppable. But right now, we should focus on protecting the people of Rohan," Liv said, shifting the focus back to their immediate concerns.
Aragorn and Legolas exchanged a glance, the weight of Liv's revelations settling in. "Agreed," Aragorn said. "Let's make sure we're ready for whatever comes next."
Liv nodded, her expression resolute. "We'll be ready. For now, let's ensure Rohan is safe."
