Day one
My story is mostly going to focus on partisan groups' affiliations with Soviets, so I read about that today. Beginning with Wikipedia, because I don't listen to any of my professors.
The page begin with this odd message/warning but that didn't stop me.
For research purposes, I screenshot Soviet-relates info as well as other things that might prove interesting.
Today I'm just brushing up on the history and basics so I also Googled a ton of articles about daily life in the camps, etc. There was a really good article from a 2000 issue of The New York Times.
The Bielski partisan group plays a small part, as my main characters quickly strike out on their own, but I've never fictionalized real people before and I want to get it right, even if this project is not to be published. Today, I learned from the New York Times that I got their ages wrong, so I marked that in my notes.
I also watched some YouTube videos of the last surviving Bielski, to hear how he talks and see how he acts.
