gauri said as her mother harshly put the bangles on her hands.

priya: and you are too young to give up your virginity. you are too young to become a mother and yet you are ready to bring up this child. so shaadi shouldn't be a big deal. i will thank god if they accept you and this child.

gauri: but shaadi is a big deal maa! shaadi isn't a joke especially an arranged marriage. shaadi should only be based on love and you should only marry a person who you feel that you can spend the rest of your life with. love and shaadi are not jokes. they are commitments.

priya: are you done with your lecture? you know what society will do to you if they find out you are pregnant and not married?! you will be dead! so better if you stop arguing with me and get ready! the boys's family will be here soon and you are still in that kurta!

gauri: but maa, i don't want to marry him! it will be a loveless marriage.

priya: then marry your baby's father.

gauri's jaw dropped as she said that sentence.

priya: who is your baby's father? tell me.

gauri's head started to spin as she heard his voice:

just then somu entered with a concerned look on her face.

priya: brill somu is here. somu puttar, is it ok if you help gauri get ready?

somu nods and priya goes. gauri shuts the door and says: what did he say?

boy's mother: namaste. i am jaya aunty and this is my son, advay (barun).

gauri looked at advay and then looked away not bothering to give him a second look but advay immediately got attracted to gauri's beauty, not in the love wise way.

raj: um why don't advay and gauri talk as us elders talk?

jaya: sure.

somu: i will go too.

priya: arre somu, you are staying here.

somu: but...

priya interrupting: please somu. let gauri and advay be alone.

somu mouthed sorry to gauri and then she said: ok aunty.

gauri and advay goes from the kitchen to the garden which was perfect in every aspect.

gauri: i don't really want to marry you.

advay: what?

gauri: i feel that i am too young for marriage and i am only 18.

advay: what?!!?

gauri: i hope you understand that i don't want to marry you. I don't even know you.

gauri was shocked and said: what?

gauri felt uncomfortable around him and without even thinking, she blurted out: I am pregnant. 

advay turned to gauri. shock was visible on his face.

advay: you're pregnant?

gauri: yes.

advay: bacchi ki bap kaun hai?

gauri: yes I was drunk now stop asking me these questions. do whatever but please get this marriage cancel. I will be grateful.

she turned to leave and advay thought for a minute: I don't care what you want but I want you in my bed. I will marry you.

he smirks and turns to go back inside where it was all silent in the living room. 

just then jaya spoke.

jaya: bidaai ho advay aur gauri. we agree for this marriage.

gauri: but aunty, I am pregnant...

jaya: arre koi maat nahi, we will love it as our own. 

raj: thank you for accepting.

advay smiles as gauri faked her emotions.

nighttime:

11:30:

gauri couldn't sleep as the news of her shaadi. she didn't want to marry just yet. she wanted to marry because of love. maybe she was going to be a mother but she would face the world instead of killing an innocent soul. she would face the world instead of giving up her child to someone else. 

she snapped out of her thoughts when she heard her phone ring. without even checking the caller id, she picked the phone up and said: hey somu, you know something I don't want to marry him. it is not a love marriage, it is a forced marriage.

om: shaadi?

gauri: om sir? you?

om: voh actually somu was talking to me about you and then she got a call from you. she was really shocked. what happened? is it related to a forced marriage?

gauri: why would you care? just get lost.

om: at least meet me once and we can talk this through.

gauri: leave it. one i don't want to see that face of yours and two that stupid media is forever stalking you.

om: i know this media very well. it is now 11:35, they will be asleep. the only people awake are me, you and that ice cream stall.

gauri thought for a minute when he said 'ice cream'. she was feeling hungry already and wanted to have something to eat.

om: what? you are just 18. i agree that is the legal marriage age but still this is too soon.

gauri: my parents wants me to abort the baby and start my life afresh but this child (she keeps her hand on her stomach) this child is my new life and if i marry someone then i want it to be on the grounds of love and love only. love is very important to me. for me, love is the most secure feeling. love is having a companion, best friend, lover, partner, sounding board, cheerleader, advisor, and cuddle buddy through every avenue in the journey of life. and as for marriage, it should be based on equality, a healthy relationship, in my eyes, is when two people are equal in a relationship. i don't want to marry someone who wants me in their bed. 

om: gauri, you are right and i know i have been a jerk to you about this child. gauri, i was angry, i don't want you to abort the child, i am ready to risk everything for you and our child....

gauri interrupting: this child is my child and mine only! you have no right on it and as far as i am concerned this advay has no right on it.

om: gauri, just break this marriage with advay and we can sort everything out.

gauri: as much as i don't want to marry, i broke my parents's trust in becoming pregnant before marriage now the only way to save their reputation is to marry advay.

om was hurt hearing these words from gauri. it pierced his heart badly and without thinking twice, he took the last spoonful of the ice cream and smeared it on gauri's lips.

gauri: om sir, what are you doing?

om: making your lips tastier.

gauri: what?

he knew she was feeling bitter hatred for him, but he couldn't resist. he leaned in a little closer, their foreheads touching. dear god, he couldn't fight against the thoughts that were going through him. her very smell was flooding his senses now...

then.....

he kissed her and the world fell away. it was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. his hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingled. she ran her fingers down his spine, pulling him closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of his heart against her chest.  

just then both gauri and om came back to their senses and the kiss broke.

om: gauri, i am sorry.

gauri: leave it!

om: gauri...

before he could complete, gauri went from there. tears rolled down his cheeks as her tiny figure was blurred and then she disappeared from his sight, his world and his life.

she reached her home and her parents were still asleep. she went to the terrace and sat on the hanging chair letting the cold breeze hit her face as she allowed her eyes to release those bitter tears of heartbreak, confusion and anger. 

the tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down her face. She felt the muscles of her chin tremble like a small child and she looked up at the moon as if the light could soothe her.

I knew all that as soon as we met.

but now I don't know. Now i am so confused about life and love.

om's POV: 

I'm in love with her.

she never leaves my mind, she's always there; mentally if not physically. it's just incomprehensible. she's my one stable force, my one stability in a world filled with chaos and I so desperately need that in my life. I love her so much for that. I'm in love with her and I can't believe I've only just realised it.

he slammed himself against the wall, allowing his tears to roam freely. he was stupid to yell at her and hurt her. if only he could go back into time and change everything  that had happened.

gauri slowly allowed her eyes to close and as om fell to the ground burying his head in his knees.
