Chapter 64
Chapter 64
●●●
Jungkook was fucking weak for Taehyung. Especially when he woke up to the siren still wrapped around him, his lips pressed against Jungkook's shoulder, breaths even, clearly still sleeping. Taehyung was always stunning, but the way he looked when he was sleeping was surreal. His long, grey, almost white, lashes looked so angelic, especially coupled with that soft pout.
Instead of waking Taehyung up and disrupting his sleep Jungkook pulled out his phone and scrolled through instagram. Then he remembered something.
Jungkook
So Taehyung and I drank a little yesterday as you know
Jungkook
It went well btw
Jungkook
And Taehyung has been so touchy since. Like he was a little before but it got really bad yesterday. When we went to bed he literally told me to get rid of my t-shirt so he could cuddle with me better
Jungkook
And Tae is currently sleeping on top of me. Like full on sleeping cuddled up to me.
Jungkook
Is this normal? What does this mean?
Jimin
Means you're actually family now~
Well that was absolutely vague and unhelpful. Jungkook closed the chat after sending Jimin a "-.-" emoji. Taehyung was still sleeping peacefully on top of him. Mainly because he had nothing better to do and since he had never gotten a really up close look at Taehyung's claws, Jungkook carefully picked up his hand that was resting against his stomach.
Jungkook could still remember the feeling of the claws tearing through his skin that night when Taehyung had had a nightmare. He wondered if that was going to happen again, given that apparently the siren seemed to plan on cuddling with him more often now. The thought certainly wasn't the most exciting.
Carefully he brought the hand further up. Taehyung's skin around the limb wasn't only black. It also had a different feeling to it than his normal skin had. Tougher in a way. But even then it still felt so soft under Jungkook's touch. Hesitantly he reached out and pressed his finger against the tip of one of Taehyung's claws. It was still unrealistically sharp and Jungkook could feel his skin breaking with just the lightest touch.
"What are you doing?" Taehyung blinked up at Jungkook with sleepy eyes. Without any judgment though, so apparently, Jungkook wasn't bad for playing around with Taehyung's hand while the siren had been asleep.
"Sorry for waking you up... I was curious about your claws. They are kind of fascinating."
Taehyung hummed, moving a little but not bothering to get off Jungkook. All he did was adjust his position slightly so he could watch him. Jungkook was still holding his hand, a small drop of blood forming at the tip of his index finger.
"You cut yourself?" Taehyung's voice had an even deeper sounding note to it right after sleep and Jungkook was glad that his heart didn't give him away even when he blushed a little at the sound. As long as Taehyung didn't hear his heart race all was well.
"Yeah, I wasn't careful enough it seems. Your claws sure are scary." He chuckled softly, rubbing Taehyung's hand with his thumb. "It's not your claws' fault when I hurt myself on them though. That's on me."
Before Jungkook could react Taehyung closed his hand around Jungkook's and pulled it to his mouth. This time his heart did betray him though, starting to race as blood rushed to his face. He watched in absolute embarrassment as Taehyung wrapped his lips around his index finger and licked the blood off.
When he let go again the small cut had closed up. Taehyung was looking at Jungkook with a somewhat amused expression. "Still worried I will bite your finger off?"
A little awkwardly Jungkook shook his head. Nope, that hadn't been the reason for his heightened heart rate. "I know you wouldn't... I think."
When that actually got a soft laugh out of Taehyung Jungkook had the strongest urge to pull him in for a hug, but that would have been awkward and they were already somewhat hugging. Instead, he focused on their plans for the day. "I was thinking about what to do today and I got an idea, but if you don't like it that's okay too. We can do something different."
Taehyung raised his eyebrows. "What do you want to do?"
"I was thinking we could go to a water park."
Jungkook had expected Taehyung to fight the idea with all his strength because of his clear distaste for pool water, which was why his answer came as even more of a surprise. "Yeah, sure."
Assuming that they were going to go swim one way or another, Jungkook had already packed some swimming trunks. He hadn't expected for it to be in a swimming pool, but he certainly wasn't going to complain. He actually looked forward to showing Taehyung the water slides he had previously visited with his parents when he had been a child.
The ride there was uneventful. Jungkook once again made it his job to play personal shield for Taehyung, separating him from all the other passengers. Taehyung certainly seemed grateful, listening curiously as Jungkook rambled and rambled about how much fun it had been at the water park when he had been a kid. They were also only interrupted once by a girl who was very clearly trying to take a picture of them. Jungkook was quick to call her out on what she was doing and she apologized, walking further away in clear embarrassment at being caught.
Jungkook felt reminded of that man at the party. It had been pretty clear that this girl had tried taking the picture because Taehyung seemed to just pull in people like moths were drawn in by a flame. But that man hadn't felt like that. What Jungkook had seen in his face wasn't the same kind of fascination most other people had. What had that expression on his face meant? Jungkook could barely even remember.
The announcer called out their stop and he had to pause that thought for a while. Taehyung grabbed his arm, practically gluing himself to his side to avoid the other people on the train getting on and off. Jungkook almost unconsciously pulled his arm out of Taehyung's hold and instead wrapped it around his shoulder as he ushered him out of the cabin. It was probably better for shielding Taehyung anyways.
They had to walk a little to reach the entrance to the huge water park, but Jungkook couldn't get himself to mind. Not when Taehyung was curiously eyeing the surroundings, taking in how different this city looked in comparison to Jungkook's hometown.
"So many things have changed since I was here, but this place barely has. I still remember looking at these buildings when I was all excited about the big big water park my dad had promised me." Jungkook recalled, as they walked in the middle of the street. It was still so weird to think that there were normal buildings all around them and then, a few hundred meters down the street, there was this huge free space with water slides and pools. This wasn't the center of the city, but certainly still city.
"What are they like?" Had Taehyung been holding his hand the whole time? When did he take it? Jungkook had absolutely no idea. All he knew was that Taehyung was carefully holding onto it. It felt so casual... normal... that Jungkook was ready to convince himself that handholding was normal between friends. Certainly didn't feel awkward like he would have expected it to be.
"They? What do you mean?" He asked, adjusting the strap of his backpack with his free hand.
"Your parents... you never talk about them. Only Eunji. And your ex." Taehyung grimaced a little at the last one and Jungkook couldn't help smiling a little. He also hated when he talked about Minji... he really had to stop that. She had no power over him anymore and he had to stop thinking about her. It had been more than a year. He had to get over it.
"There isn't much to say about my parents. They mean well in general and actually bought me the apartment I live in right now. My mum and I were always pretty close, since she somewhat treated me like an equal even when I was small. Like, she let me make my own choices and all that shit. I learned what was good for me and not so we never got into that awkward fighting phase over what I'm allowed to do and what not. My dad..." Jungkook hesitated. That one was a lot harder to put into words than the previous one had been.
"My dad wasn't always the biggest fan of that but let my mum decide what was best for me anyways. So theoretically we never really fought. He just also wasn't there a lot. Worked a lot and got lost in it pretty often too. Oh. And he actually stopped talking to me for a while when he found out I'm into guys too. He's a bit conservative in that regard." Jungkook chuckled awkwardly. He had been trying to get his father's approval for all his childhood so when he had reacted like that it had really hurt.
"But my mum made sure I still got all the money I needed to live. After a year or so he also came to terms with it, apparently, after my mum kept bugging him about informing himself... so yeah, now it's a little awkward but okay."
Taehyung looked a little confused.
"If you have any questions it's okay to ask."
"Humans don't normally just like whoever they like? They only like girls or boys? There are rules?" Taehyung asked, clearly baffled.
Jungkook chuckled. "I think people just like to believe that there are rules. They love boxing sorting themselves into categories instead of just going with what feels right in a certain moment."
"That's dumb."
Jungkook laughed at Taehyung's straightforwardness.
"Honestly, at this point you just think everything humans do is dumb."
Taehyung smiled a little.
"Maybe."
