Chapter 50
Chapter 50
●●●
Jungkook had just been in the process of explaining to the turtle that he indeed was over eighteen and had every right to be in that club, when some noises woke him up. For a couple of seconds he had a hard time figuring out where he was if not in that club, but once his eyes got used to what he was seeing he realized he was in his room.
The noises that had sounded quite far away in his dream turned out to come from right beside him. Taehyung sounded like he was having a nightmare. He was rolling around, groaning, hissing and whining, his claws extended, gripping onto both the pillow and his blankets, making a bit of a mess in the process.
Jungkook was sure he could have just ignored Taehyung and left it up to him for his dreams to turn more pleasant again. After all, the blankets were already ruined and Taehyung had caused him one too many nightmares himself. But Jungkook couldn't. Taehyung sounded like he was in pain. Something Jungkook was pretty sure he had never seen happen before, but that didn't make it any less... sad. He didn't want to see Taehyung like this. Even after all that had happened between them.
So instead he slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes tiredly before turning around to face Taehyung, who seemed to have settled down a little. Not enough for Jungkook to believe the bad dream had ended though. His eyelids were still fluttering a little and his slightly opened lips were trembling. Even in this situation, Taehyung still looked absolutely mesmerizing. He seemed to glow in the dark, even though Jungkook knew that was physically impossible. But then again, this was Taehyung, so maybe it was not.
"Taehyung?" Jungkook whispered softly, leaning a little in Taehyung's direction. No reaction.
He tried again.
"Hey, Taehyungie."
Once again no reaction. Taehyung hadn't moved for a little while so Jungkook decided to risk it and reach for him.
"Taehyung, come on, wake up?"
The second Jungkook's hand touched Taehyung's shoulder, he startled awake. Jungkook barely had the time to react when suddenly his weight shifted and his whole body was flipped around. Heat spread through his arms up into his shoulders as he stared up at Taehyung, who was looking at him, eyes wide in... what seemed to be fear. Taehyung had to still be half in his dream.
Hesitantly Jungkook opened his mouth. "Hey it's okay... it's just me. Jungkook. You know? Very weak human that is totally not dangerous in any way?" Jungkook tried to move his arm but he couldn't. Taehyung was gripping him tightly and both his arms felt like they were on fire. He was pretty sure that he would be pretty bloody if he bothered to look down.
"You had a bad dream." Jungkook continued and finally Taehyung's eyes seemed to clear up. The wild look of fear slowly left and instead worry filled his features. At the same time Jungkook realized that, for some weird reason, he had not felt like his life was in danger. Even though he had had every reason to, his heart was still beating at a steady pace. And he felt okay, aside from the fact that he was pretty sure his arms were a bloody mess. He could feel the wetness. He had absolutely no clue how deep the wounds were, but they were certainly bleeding a lot.
"Jungkook?" Taehyung sounded worried. Really worried.
Jungkook smiled. "I think you were having a bad dream earlier. I wanted to wake you up and then you quite literally jumped me. Didn't know you wanted to have sex with me that badly." He joked. "Could have just asked, you know?"
He could feel Taehyung pull his hands away and damn, Jungkook was pretty sure he felt one of his claws pull OUT of his upper arm. That explained the pain. He had known those were pretty sharp but that sure was scary.
"I'm so sorry." Taehyung whispered and Jungkook could feel his now normal hands press against his arm, seemingly trying to stop the blood.
"It's okay... could you get off of me though? I need to see how bad it is."
It was... bad, so to say. Jungkook felt dizzy the second he sat up. Which was hopefully mainly due to the pain and not because of the amount of blood he was losing. He could barely move his left arm and his right one hurt like a little bitch when he moved it.
"I seriously didn't mean to..." Taehyung started again, seemingly completely snapped out of his earlier sleep-ridden rate.
Jungkook sighed, bringing his right hand up to apply pressure to his left one. He really had no idea how he was staying this calm right now, but maybe all the close calls with death he'd had in the past had desensitized him.
"I know you didn't. Don't worry about it. But I think I'll need to call Eunji to drive me to the hospital because this feels deep." Jungkook's left arm was starting to feel numb. Maybe due to shock. That could have been another reason he felt so calm right now.
"No. I'll-" Taehyung grabbed Jungkook's shoulders, staring at him intensely. "I'll heal you, okay? I didn't mean to hurt you." Taehyung seemed worried. He kept repeating it like Jungkook could get the idea he had done it intentionally if he didn't.
Jungkook wanted to reach out and reassuringly squeeze Taehyung's hand, but his own was way too bloody for that. "Taehyung. I know. I know what it's like to have a nightmare." He tried to speak as clearly as he could. "I trust you not to hurt me like this... even if that might be a little dumb with our history together."
He chuckled. "And if you want to heal me I'd appreciate it if you could do it quickly because I think I'm losing a little too much blood." He wasn't being dramatic. He could feel it dripping on his leg from his elbow and it wasn't just a small amount. At this point he was pretty sure he was sitting in a bit of a puddle of his own blood.
Taehyung's face went from worried to focused as he peeled Jungkook's hand off his left arm. Carefully he ran his fingers over the wound and Jungkook was about to ask Taehyung if his whole healing thing didn't usually work through saliva when his skin started feeling weirdly tingly, the sensation seeping deeper into his limb. His blood had stopped flowing from his arm. The wound was still very visible. Deep gushes that Jungkook had absolutely no idea how far in they went. But they were no longer bleeding.
He felt Taehyung's fingers against his other arm and once again his whole arm felt weirdly tingly.
"What are you doing?"
"Stopping the bleeding." Taehyung muttered, seemingly still focused on however he was doing that. "You humans don't really do well when you bleed a lot."
Jungkook hummed. That was true, even if he didn't want to hear how exactly Taehyung had learnt that. "And how are you stopping the blood?"
"Blood is water, is it not?"
What did that mean? Unless Taehyung's water bending skills extended to blood bending, which was fucking overpowered. But then again, it was Taehyung. That siren was the definition of overpowered. A little blood bending here and there wasn't going to change anything about that.
Taehyung got up and Jungkook followed him into the bathroom. He was still fucking dizzy but at least the searing pain had turned somewhat numb now. He was pretty sure that that wasn't exactly a good sign, but at least he could walk around without a problem.
As if he had done this before, which he most certainly had not, Taehyung picked up a towel and dipped it in warm water. "Sit down on the edge of the bathtub... and sorry again." His eyes were still focused on Jungkook's arms. Jungkook wondered how much focus this blood bending thing cost. Seemingly a lot.
"It's okay... thank you for helping me. I probably should have been more careful while waking you up. But I didn't want to see you like that." Jungkook admitted, maybe a little too honestly.
Taehyung seemed a little surprised when he and Jungkook made eye contact again.
"Uhm... thank you."
"No problem." Jungkook smiled, feeling a little nervous but also weirdly happy. He shouldn't have been, given the situation they were in, but he did. For some weird reason he did.
"Uhm Taehyung..." He could feel a bit of blood trickling down his arm again.
"Shit, sorry." Taehyung quickly stepped forward and Jungkook's arm stopped bleeding again. Carefully he started dabbing the blood off Jungkook's arm, cleaning the area around the wound. Slowly Jungkook could tell the extent of his wound and well... if Taehyung hadn't been there he probably should have called an ambulance instead of Eunji.
There were three deep gashes on his right arm, one of which seemed to go even deeper than the others. Honestly it made sense Jungkook hadn't been able to move his left arm. The cuts on his left arm were a little less bad but also painful enough by themselves. Those probably would have needed stitches too.
The shock seemed to be wearing off by now because his arms were really starting to hurt now. His whole arm felt like it was pulsing and burning. It was hard to locate the pain because it all just hurt. Yet Taehyung took his time cleaning off all the blood from Jungkook's arms.
"Usually... you use this spray thing for cleaning wounds, right?"
"Disinfectant?"
Taehyung nodded.
"But do you need that with your healing skill?" Jungkook asked, a little confused. It had seemed like an all in one solution.
"I don't know how it works with you. Where is it?"
Instead of trying to guide Taehyung to the drawer he got up himself and walked over to it. After a bit of skimming through his stuff he pulled out the fitting little bottle.
"Here you go." Jungkook already knew it was going to hurt like hell when he sat down. His arm was already on fire.
"How do I do this?" Taehyung asked, seemingly a little lost.
"You need to spray it everywhere my skin has been broken. So just my whole upper arm to be honest." Jungkook joked and Taehyung looked way too guilty. There had been many reasons for Taehyung to feel guilty in the past. This was not a good reason.
"Come on, just do it." Jungkook tried to sit up as straight as he could. He had no idea how Taehyung's whole water thing was going to affect the spray but he really just wanted to get this over with as quickly as he could.
"Okay." Taehyung sat down next to him, pulling the stopper off the spray bottle. As if to test it out he sprayed some into the air before turning around to Jungkook.
Jungkook really had to try his best not to hiss, even when Taehyung had hissed at him quite a lot before. But he really had no idea how Taehyung would take that if he did it. His wounds really burned. The small scratches he had used the spray on in the past really had nothing on this.
"You okay?"
Jungkook chuckled. "Not really to be honest. It's not anything new, but damn your claws are scary."
"I guess for humans they are." Taehyung carefully wiped the remaining blood away when he was done disinfecting.
Jungkook tried to look anywhere but at Taehyung when he carefully pressed the edges of Jungkook's cut together before leaning forward and... No, Jungkook was too awkward to even think about what Taehyung was doing. Instead he tried to distract himself by focusing on something else.
"So how are they for you? Can you hurt yourself with your own claws?"
Aaaah he could feel Taehyung's tongue. Not that the feeling of someone's tongue on him was that unheard of, but this was fucking awkward. This was Taehyung after all. Who certainly had absolutely no sexual interest in him at all.
Taehyung pulled away and Jungkook could feel the pain in his right arm slowly fading. It was a weird sensation. When he looked down he found his skin closing up right in front of his own eyes.
"If I press hard enough, I guess. But I think you can accidentally do that with your own nails too. It's a little like that." He tried to explain and Jungkook had a hard time believing that Taehyung's nails felt anything like his own.
Once again he made it a point to not look at Taehyung when he started working on his other arm. Instead he looked down at the now unharmed skin of his right arm. There still was some discoloration going on under his skin but he could pretty much watch as it got lighter and lighter until it vanished. Hesitantly he lifted his arm, flexing it. There was no issue. No pain, no numbness. Aside from a tingling sensation and the residue of his old blood his arm looked to be as good as new.
"Your healing skills are honestly awesome... I mean, how overpowered can a living creature be? Is there even anything that could kill you?"
"There are things. But mainly love and losing the will to live."
Jungkook barely realized that Taehyung was done healing him. He was too focused on what Taehyung had said.
"So you mean like... committing suicide?"
"Similar." Taehyung didn't bother elaborating on that any further. Instead he grabbed the towel again and cleaned Jungkook's arms. "How do you feel?"
"Still a little dizzy, but the pain is mostly gone now. Thank you."
"I'm done here but your legs are still bloody so you should take a shower." There was no room for discussion in the way Taehyung said it, so Jungkook simply pulled off his probably ruined bloody sweatpants and t-shirt. For a second he hesitated with pulling down his underwear before deciding that Taehyung had seen him naked enough times already for it not to matter.
The shower felt good even if it was a little scary to see this much blood washing off his body and dyeing the water red, especially when it was only a small part of what he had actually bled. Maybe he was going to go see a doctor sometime in the next few days. Just to make sure everything was alright.
"We'll need to go buy you a new pillow tomorrow. Yours has taken quite a lot of damage from that nightmare." Jungkook lifted his arms all the way above his head to test them out. Absolutely nothing. No pain. "What did you even dream about?"
He watched Taehyung lean against the edge of the sink.
"I can't remember. I think Jimin and Yoongi were in that dream."
"I'm guessing they were in danger?"
Taehyung nodded. "I think so."
"It's hard to believe you and Jimin only met again ten years ago. You care so deeply for him." Jungkook grabbed the towel and stepped out of the bathtub. He realized something. "Do you care about Yoongi too or is it just because of Jimin?"
"I like Yoongi... he's family." Taehyung handed Jungkook a fresh t-shirt and underwear Jungkook hadn't even noticed he had left to get. "I know he is a little nervous around me and doesn't like that I still kill... but yeah, I like him. He's good for Jimin."
"Is he usually as quiet or just when I'm around?"
"He isn't, around Jimin at least. He tends to not talk too much to me either. I mean, fair. I never really talked back."
They moved back to their bedroom. Jungkook's side looked like a murder had occured. There was blood all over the sheets. Taehyung's side of the bed was all torn up. He was glad he lived alone because that would have been quite hard to explain to anyone really.
"Did you talk more to him now that you can speak?" Jungkook asked curiously as he pulled off the bed sheets.
"A little."
Once Jungkook was done replacing his pillow and blanket and had thrown out Taehyung's because there was no saving those he realized that there was a small problem. "I don't really have a second blanket and pillow you could use. Uhm..." Jungkook hesitated. Why was his heart racing a little. "If you don't mind we could share. If not I could also give you mine and just try with the couch..."
"It's alright. I don't mind sharing."
AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES.
Why did this sound oddly familiar? An awful lot like that 'there's only one bed' scenario. Just that there was only one blanket.
The worst part was, Jungkook felt weirdly giddy. God, he really hoped he wasn't actually developing a crush on Taehyung. That was a recipe for disaster. Jungkook had had enough heartbreak for a lifetime. And it was already more than clear that him and Taehyung was not something that could ever work.
"Alright. I hope you won't have any more nightmares."
"Let's hope." Taehyung smiled and oh no, Jungkook totally felt a little weird at that. Why did this make him feel WARM?!
It was even worse when Jungkook climbed into the now clean bed and lifted up the blanket and Taehyung didn't just lay down next to him. Instead he totally cuddled up to Jungkook. Casually so, but there definitely was less space between them than would have been theoretically needed.
Taehyung didn't seem to mind though, leaning his head against Jungkook's shoulder. Not entirely but enough for Jungkook to very much gay panic. Taehyung on the other hand seemed very much relaxed.
"Good night."
Jungkook almost yelped when he felt Taehyung's hand on his stomach. Once again just comfortably put there, but why was Taehyung doing this to him? He had to be aware that he was hot and Jungkook had made comments about sleeping with guys before so why was he so comfortable?
Still, Jungkook tried channeling his inner calm and talk without his panic and racing heart showing.
"Good night, Tae."
It really wasn't a question of whether Jungkook was going to develop a crush on Taehyung. It was more so a question of when.
And Jungkook was very strongly tempted to say... today.
