7.0 That Sounds Fun

"9-1-1, what's your emergency?" Kennedy Addams opened her mouth to answer, but Stiles Stilinski grabbed onto her shoulder, shaking his head. "9-1-1, please state your emergency." She looked up at him and furrowed her eyebrows. Stiles just continued to shake his head. "You've reached 9-1-1, this line is for emergencies only. If you do not have an emergency, please hang up."

"Want me to send a car out? What's the address?"

"It's the school. Beacon Hills High."

"Let's see if we've got a car in the area."

As soon as Stiles heard the tone, he took the phone out of Kennedy's hands and hung it back up. Kennedy turned, her gaze landing on Donovan's dead body, and she shuttered. "Hey, come on." Stiles slipped his hand into Kennedy's, trying to pull her towards the door of the library.

Kennedy paused as her heard her phone begin to buzz. "My phone." She rushed over to the body and let out a sigh. She felt Stiles's presence behind her. "It's in his pocket."

"I'll get it." Stiles nodded. He hesitated before leaning forwards and pulling it out of Donovan's pocket. He handed it to Kennedy. Malia was calling her, but she denied the call.

"Stiles."

"What?"

"We killed him."

Stiles shook his hands, cupping Kennedy's cheeks. "No, you didn't do anything, okay? And it was self defense. I had no choice." He let out a sigh as a tear ran down Kennedy's cheek. "No, Kenn. Don't cry. Let me talk you home." She nodded, following him out of the school. He opened the passenger door to his jeep for her, and she got inside. Then, he made his way back towards the front of the jeep to try and get it to start. He was successful, and quickly jumped into the drivers seat. He shoved the keys into the ignition and turned them, causing the car to turn on.

"What do we do?" Kennedy whimpered as she starred at her hands. "The police are coming, and his body is just sitting there waiting for them."

"Hey, stop." Stiles took her hands in his. "I'm not going to let anything happen to you, okay? I promise."

Kennedy's head snapped towards her window as she heard sirens coming closer and closer towards the school. She let out a deep breath as Stiles turned the car back off, trying to not seem suspicious to the police. Multiple police vehicles drove by them through the parking lot of Beacon Hills High School, and Kennedy grabbed onto Stiles's hand. "Kenn, you're okay." Stiles sent the girl a nod before pressing his lips to her forehead. He watched as a few officers entered the school. Kennedy glanced down at Stiles's hands and noticed the blood covering one of them. Her thumb lightly touched his hand, and the blood transferred.

Stiles turned on his police scanner. "I'm 10-97, and there is no one here. It's a 653."

"Roger that. It's a prank call. Return to your patrol."

The girl's eyes furrowed as she stared at the radio. "What? How is there nothing there." She questioned Stiles, but he never answered her. He jumped out of his jeep, and she followed closely behind him as they both re-entered the high school. They rushed into the library once again, and found nothing. Donovan's body was gone, and so was any trace of what had happened earlier that night. "Stiles?" Kennedy frowned with her eyes wide. Stiles walked up to the metal rods that had been on the ground when they left and were now back in their original place. He placed his finger on the rod and found blood.

Stiles had brought the two of them back to his house considering neither of them wanted to be alone. He threw his backpack onto the ground and grabbed his white marker. He rushed towards his clear murder board as jotted down 'Donovan Not Dead. Walked Out'. He backed up, staring at the board. "Stiles." Kennedy spoke quietly as she placed her backpack on Stiles's floor. Stiles completely ignored her, returning to the board to write 'Donovan Dead'. He underlined 'Dead' multiple times. "Stiles." Kennedy repeated, and she was ignored once again. He made his way to the board once again to write 'Someone took the body'. Kennedy watched as the boy brought his hand to his mouth as he stared at the body. He let out a sigh before anxiously grabbing his eraser and trying to erase everything he had just written. He let out a groan as he threw his eraser at the board. "Stiles!" Kennedy yelled, grabbing his hand to turn him towards her.

His arms wrapped around her as he let out a whimper. "Fuck, Kennedy. I don't know what I'm supposed to do." He cried, tightening his grip on her. She felt him jump as his phone began to ring. He pulled away from the hug to take his phone from his pocket. It was Scott. Stiles made eye contact with Kennedy before answering the call and putting it on speaker phone. "Scott?"

"Stiles, someone is taking the bodies."

Kennedy's eyes widened before she ran her fingers through her hair. Stiles wrapped his arms around Kennedy once again, trying to comfort her.

"Stiles, you there?"

"Yeah, um..." He nodded. "Wha- what are you talking about?"

"I'm at the Animal Clinic with Kira. Tracy's body is gone. The lock on the door was broken from the outside, and my mom just told me Lucas's body went missing from he morgue. They've been searching the whole hospital for it. Someone is stealing the bodies."

The next day, Malia Tate had shown everyone this book she had found called 'The Dread Doctors'. It had the men in the masks she had seen on the front, and Kira Yukimura was copying the entire book for each of them to read. At the end of the novel, the author had written that they had learned the information used to create the novel from Doctor Gabriel Valack, who had worked at Eichan House but was eventually locked away there. Scott McCall, Lydia Martin, and Kira had invited Kennedy to come with them to Eichan to question him, but Stiles was not having it. Kennedy and Stiles had spent the day at his house, not wanting to be around anyone that day. Stiles grabbed his sweatshirt from his bed. "Kennedy, stop it. I'm going with you."

She had been trying to convince him not to come, but Stiles way much too stubborn. "You told everyone you were sick and that I was taking care of you."

"I told them I was slightly under the weather." Stiles rolled his eyes as he corrected her.

Kennedy shook her head as she let out a sigh. "You really don't have to come, Stiles. Malia's not going to be there either."

"Malia's not going because she knows that that place is a nightmare asylum of insanity and death, okay?" The girl chuckled, crossing her arms over her chest, and she let out a groan as she felt pain in her shoulder. "Is it still bothering you from last night?" Stiles questioned her, furrowing his eyebrows out of concern.

"I'm okay." Kennedy nodded her head.

Stiles stepped closer towards her. "Can I see it?" She nodded, turning around. She pulled the back of her top up to show where Donovan had gotten her. Stiles brought his finger to it, causing her to wince slightly. "Baby, I'm so sorry."

She quickly turned around, a small smile appearing on her lips. "Did you just call me baby?"

The boy's eyes widened in realization of what he had just said. "Uh, no." Kennedy's smile disappeared as she nodded.

The five teenagers stood at the front gates of Eichan House as Lydia pressed on the call button. "Hello?" She questioned, continuously pressing the button. "Anyone there?"

"I told you not to come, Stiles." Kennedy frowned as Stiles nervously played with her fingers.

Stiles shook his head. "I'm fine, Kenn, really."

Scott cocked his head to the side. "You seem a little off."

"I think we're all a little off."

"Maybe some us more than others." Scott stated before glancing back at Kira.

Kennedy furrowed her eyebrows. "Scott, what happened?"

"When the other Chimera, Lucas... when he came after us, I heard Kira say something in Japanese." Scott explained to his two best friends.

Stiles shrugged. "That doesn't sound too bad."

"She doesn't know any Japanese." Scott responded with wide eyes.

"Still not terrible." Stiles stated.

"I also think I might have stopped her from killing Lucas." Scott continued.

Kennedy looked up at Stiles as he nodded. "Wasn't he trying to kill you, though? I mean, that just sounds like self-defense."

Scott shook his head. "It was more than that. I mean, she nearly took off his head."

"Maybe she had no choice." Stiles spat, causing Kennedy to grab a hold of his hand. "There's got to be a point where self-defense is justified. Tracy killed her own father. And Lucas would have killed you."

"They're not the bad guys. They're the victims." Scott tried explaining his view to his best friend. "We shouldn't be killing the people we're trying to save."

There was a loud buzz and the front gate to Eichan House opened. The five teenagers walked through it and into the building. They approached the registration desk, and Schrader, the male nurse, place a clear but onto the desk. "Please empty your pockets into the container." He ordered them.

"We're here to see-"

"Please empty your pockets into the container." He repeated, cutting off Scott. Stiles and Kennedy shared a glance before reaching into their pockets and placing all of their belongings into the bucket. The three others followed along. Schrader made eye contact with Kira. "Please remove your belt and place it into the container." He was talking about her Katana that was disguised as a belt at the moment.

Kira shook her head. "I kind of need the belt. I mean, it's crucial to the outfit." She tried to argue with him.

"Please remove your belt which patients will attempt to take from you and use to strangle either themselves or others."

"Right." Kira nodded before nervously pulling off the belt. "Got it." She placed it into the bucket.

Schrader made eye contact with Lydia, which caused her to move closer towards Kennedy. The blonde frowned at the nurse, taking Lydia's hand in hers. A guard appeared at the doors as Schrader moved the bucket behind the desk. The guard took them into the hospital. "I'll remind you that I'm only doing this as a favor to Deaton." He explained to the kids as they walked down multiple flights of stairs. "And I'm doing it against my better judgement."

"Hey, what's the- uh- the etiquette for talking to this guy?" Stiles questioned him. "I mean, do you ever look at the other eye?"

The guard shook his head. "I wouldn't. In fact, while you're down here, try not to make eye contact with anyone or anything."

"That sounds fun." Kennedy let out a sigh.

As they were led into the Supernatural section of the hospital, Kira and Scott made a sudden stop, causing Kennedy to look back at them. "You didn't think you were all going, did you?" The guard questioned them.

"It's mountain ash, isn't it?" Scott furrowed his eyebrows.

"Everywhere." The guard nodded. "But heavily concentrated down here." He swiped his card, and the metal doors opened. "Valack's cell is the last one at the end of the hall."

Kennedy hadn't taken her eyes off Scott and Kira. Scott nodded reassuringly. "We'll be right here." Stiles placed his hand on Kennedy's lower back, trying to lead her through the door.

Stiles, Lydia, and Kennedy made their way down the hallway. As they approached Valack's cell, he looked up at them. He was seated on the floor. "Tell me what you just saw."

"Me?" Stiles pointed to himself.

"The creature in the previous cell. The Sluagh." Valack nodded. "The myth is that they can take on the appearance of the lost souls that have become inextricably bound to it. Happen to have seen any lost souls, Mr. Stilinski?"

The blonde girl held her breath as she looked up at Stiles. He nodded, glancing down at her. "Everyone down here."

Valack cocked his head to the side. "Don't give up on us yet. We're all works-in-progress."

"Were did you hear that from?" Lydia questioned him.

The man shrugged. "Wise words from a former cellmate." He stood up and approached the three. "Did you bring the book?" Stiles nodded before pulling The Dread Doctors book from inside his pants. He held it up to the glass. "Very nice. First edition. Of course, there was only one printed."

"There is no T.R. McCammon, is there?" Lydia frowned.

"No." Valack shook his head.

"You wrote the book." She continued her thought.

Valack smiled. "That's right, Lydia. Maybe you've already guessed that it is not just a book."

"What is it?" Kennedy let out a deep breath as Stiles took her head.

"A tool." Valack answered her. "It is desired to open your eyes."

"To what?" Stiles raised an eyebrow.

"To them. The Dread Doctors."

Lydia clasped her hands together. "Why did you use a pseudonym?" She questioned the Doctor.

He shrugged. "I had a professional reputation once. I wasn't interested in ruining it by putting my name on a second-rate piece of trash."

"Why would you write it in the first place, then?" Kennedy let out a scoff.

"You haven't read it yet, have you?" Kennedy shook her head in response to Valack's question. "I wrote it because no one believed me. Because no one listened." Stiles placed his hand on Kennedy's back once again, pulling her closer towards him. "They're here, aren't they? In Beacon Hills."

Lydia pursed her lips slightly. "What are they?"

"Not entirely human. At least, not anymore." Valack answered her. "They were scientists once. Scientists who worshipped the supernatural. Tesla said, 'If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration'." Kennedy furrowed her eyebrows as she listened. "They found their secrets in electromagnetic forces. Ways to prolong their lives, give them power, and most importantly, making you forget you ever saw them."

"What do they want?"

"Good question, Lydia. Everybody wants something, don't they."

Stiles rolled his eyes. "Okay, so what do you want?"

Valack held up a tape recorder and put it into a compartment. "Hit record."

Lydia frowned. "What do you want me to say?"

"I don't want you to say anything." Valack shook his head. "I want you to scream."

Kennedy glanced between Lydia and the doctor behind the glass and aggressively shook her head. "Sorry, but that's not happening."

Lydia grabbed onto Kennedy's wrist and turned away from the doctor. "Kenn, he's the only one who knows anything."

"He's a nut job, Lydia. I mean, look at him. He literally drilled a hole into his head." Kennedy glanced back at Valack, who was creepily staring at the two girls. "And he gives me the creeps."

"How many have died so far?" Valack questioned them. "All of them teenagers. Am I right?" Kennedy's eyes widened as she turned back to the doctor. "Want to know how many died the first time they came here? Wonder how many will die if they succeed?"

The lights flickered as Lydia stepped forwards. "This did happen before."

"And now they're back." Valack nodded. "All because a few teenagers, who never even considered the consequences, decided to reignite a supernatural force they barely understand."

"The Nemeton." Lydia sighed.

Stiles stepped in front of Kennedy. "How do you even know about that?"

"I know because I saw it." Valack answered the boy. He removed the bandage covered his forehead to reveal a drilled hole in his head. A eye opened in the hole and Kennedy's own eyes widen as she backed up. The lights flickered more. "Who did you come with?"

Kennedy shrugged, looking up at the lights. "Our friends."

"What are they?"

Stiles wrapped his arms around Kennedy. "Don't answer."

"You brought a kitsune." Valack snarled, staring up at the flickering lightbulbs.

The bulb broke, causing the lights to go out, and Lydia let out a yelp. "What's happening?"

"She's disrupting the building's defenses." The doctor explained to the three teenagers.

Lydia looked around. "What do you mean? How?"

"It's not just the mountain ash that keeps this building secure." Valack frowned. "It's the electromagnetic energy. Eichan is build on the convergence of Telluric currents. Ley Lines. It's what allows it to keep certain supernatural creatures in and certain others out." Kennedy tensed up when she heard electronic whizzing. "They knew you were coming. They're here. And you unlocked the door for them." Valack placed his hands on the glass separating them and moved closer. "Hit record. Do it now. It costs you nothing."

Stiles shook his head. "But it's worth something to you, so you're not getting it for free." He snapped at the doctor.

"What does the book do?" Lydia questioned him.

"Tell us!" Stiles exclaimed after the doctor did not answer her question.

Valack furrowed his eyebrows. "I told you. It opens your eyes."

"Can you tell us how?" Kennedy frowned, rolling her eyes.

"It triggers the memory centers of the brain, clearing the fog and brining the images of the Dread Doctors into focus." He explained to the teenagers. "I wrote the book in a effort to find out if anyone else like me had ever seen them before." Lydia frowned, her eyes widening. "I thought I could circulate it, an effort to trigger someone... anyone else's memory. They'd see the cover, a hint of memory... They'd pick up the book, read it. The suppressed memory surface, and they'd find their way to me to discover more. Just like you did."

Stiles stepped closer towards the glass. "Did it work with anyone else?"

Valack shrugged. "You didn't see it on The New York Times Best Seller list, did you?"

"So all we have to do is read the book?" The strawberry blonde asked.

"If you've seen them, if they've done something to you, then the book will help you remember. Now give me what I want."

Lydia opened her palm, and Stiles hesitated before handing her the tape recorder. She pressed record and she let out a scream. Kennedy gasped as she fell backwards into Stiles arms. When she was finished, Lydia placed the tape recorder back into the compartment. "Tell us what they want."

"Lydia, I think we need to get out of here." Stiles sighed as an alarm started to ring throughout the hospital.

The girl shook her head. "What are they trying to do."

"Read the book." Valack responded. "Anyone who's come into contact with them."

"We have to go, Lydia." Kennedy grabbed onto Lydia's hand, pulling her through the hallway. Stiles followed behind the two girls.

"Read the book!" The three head behind them as the exited the hallway.
