Desert Nights
Deserts, as everyone knows, are blistering. The heat unbearable for many, but few seem to enjoy it. Many people had made this their home in this one desert. The main city they had called Vacuo.
However still hot, the nights were colder, making it easier for the ones who didn't enjoy the day as much. This was the case for a girl named Yazzie, she was born in the desert and honestly had no problem with the heat, but the nights were something she enjoyed the most.
She walked through the thin walls of her home, some sand along the floors and even a few holes in parts of the walls. She didn't care, they were all busy in their own ways and shelter was shelter. Her father was the only one taking care of her and her younger brother.
Walking along the slightly beaten down home, she reached the door, creaking it open she glanced back, a closed door at the far end of the hallway and an open one closer. A small frame lie on the bed covered by a thin sheet, it didn't stir as much as she expected from the noise. She gave a soft smile before sinking out into the exposed air of the night.
Carefully closing the door behind her she never broke contact with the sky. A spiked tail slowly dragged behind her, only the tip reaching the sand, the colours alike.
She circled the small house to the back, getting on a rock and jumping up, climbing onto the roof. It only looked unstable, it was actually rather strong, held through the desert winds for these years. She lied on her back her arms spread off to her sides as she stared at the sky.
Her eyes reflected the many stars above, acting as a second sky, her light grey pupils as the moon, the black sclera of each acting as their own galaxy. Closing them she breathed in before letting it go.
"I'm gonna miss this once I leave."
