48 hours. this is how long has passed since jaemin had told the whole truth to his friends, hoping to get the best solution out of that. and so, 48 hours since he was aware that the best solution for them all was to cut ties.

but how could he find himself to do that? he would at first hurt both jeno and renjun a lot, and he would hurt himself considerably too.

he knew he had to do it, for his sake, for jeno's sake and for renjun's sake. but it was so hard...

and so, here he was, 48 hours after receiving his friends' opinion, lying in his rabbit form on jeno and renjun's bed, trying to think of when he could see renjun and how he could tell him, and then, trying to think of how he could tell jeno he would be moving out. 

"no, you don't. you don't have a job, you don't work, you don't earn money, and you definitely don't get money withdrawn from your account each month for the electricity you use!"

"i-i'm still studying..."

jaemin frowned as he heard loud voices coming from the living room, recognising them to be jeno and rnejun's. they seemed to be arguing which was rare when the two boys were in good terms. but it was even weirder now that they were acting like strangers... it seemed like they didn't talk anymore, and so, this argument was maybe one of the first interactions the boys had for a few days.

"yeah, you better be studying well. this way you'll find a nice job and earn lots of money. and then you'll be able to repay me all of the money you made me loose because of your bullshit."

"r-repay...?"

as he wasn't sure he heard everything clearly, the hybrid decided to get to the living room and pay more attention to their fight in order to understand what was going wrong.

and so, he hopped off the bed, walking out of the bedroom through the ajar door before making his way to the living room as the argument between the two lovers went on.

"y-yes! can you imagine how expensive you cost?!"

"h-how expensive..."

and then, horrifying words left jeno's mouth. words that jaemin never thought he would hear coming out of the boy's mouth.

"i-if i'm s-such a horrible boyfriend, w-why don't you break up with me?!"

the hybrid shrieked at that, sounding more like a small squeak as he was in his rabbit form.

this is when he knew that things were about to get very bad, so he bounced all the way to the living room, expecting for renjun's answer – which came a few seconds later – nervously.

"why would i be the one to break up? just break up with me if you don't like this situation!"

oh god, this was very bad...

jaemin now stood in front of the two boys in his rabbit form, looking at them screaming at each other to break up. this was very very bad, and jaemin needed to do something about it. he couldn't let them break they amazing relationship for such meaningless things...

"y-you're criticising me and claiming that i'm too expensive to you, and i should be the one to break up? i-i'm very happy taking advantage of your money. just break up if you don't like that!"

"well, you should break up yourself, because..."

jaemin knew it was too much and that he needed to act.

fuck his friends' plans, he needed to do something, and this called for drastic measures...

and so, because the two boys were too engrossed in whatever they were arguing about to notice the white bunny jumping up and down to catch their attention, jaemin did the only thing he could think of; transforming into his human form.

"no, stop fighting!" he exclaimed, standing in between the two males, panting slightly before he looked successively at the two of them.

the fight immediately ceased, and the two humans stared in disbelief at the male that was standing between them.

"jaemin?!" both boys let out at the same time.

renjun's brows immediately furrowed. 

"what are you doing here?" he asked before looking at his boyfriend curiously. "and how do you remember him? you've barely seen him once?" he asked.

but jeno ignored him completely, keeping his widened eyes on jaemin.

"j-jaemin, why did you transform?" he questioned.

"transform?" renjun's frown intensified before he noticed a certain detail on jaemin.

it was the first time that he saw him without something on top of his head, whether it was a beanie or a hat. and now that he looked more closely at the top of his head, he noticed the two white and furry strips dangling from it.

"p-please, none of this matters..." jaemin mumbled shyly. "just stop arguing, i-it's... it's silly...and ah!"

jaemin let out a yelp mid-sentence as renjun slightly tugged on the white strip – which was in fact jaemin's bunny ear.

"w-what is that?" renjun asked, poking jaemin's ear again.

"stop, you're going to hurt his ears." jeno immediately said, pushing renjun's hand away and preventing him to toy with the boy's hybrid attributes. 

"his ears...?" renjun breathed out, completely confused before he looked around, remembering how his parents had told him about hybrids. "wait. where is nana?"

jaemin turned around to face renjun fully, a shy smile appearing on his face.

it seemed like everything clicked in renjun's mind.

"oh my god, you are nana?!" he asked loudly, causing jaemin to get startled.

"hey, don't yell, you're scaring him." jeno intervened placing a hand over jaemin's shoulder.

"i... wait. why aren't you surprised by any of this?" renjun let out confusedly. "oh my god, don't tell me..." renjun paused, placing his hand over his agape mouth. "...you knew it all along?"

jeno and jaemin stayed silent, both lowering their heads simultaneously as renjun made all the connexions necessary in his mind to come to the conclusion that he had been played.

"oh my goodness... how stupid of me..." renjun let out a nervous chuckle. "so, all of this time you knew... you knew that the guy i kept seeing outside was your bloody rabbit... this is why you've been trying to make me like the rabbit more, claiming that jaemin wouldn't like it if i was mean to a rabbit..."renjun bit his lip as he passed his hand through his hair. he could feel anger building inside of him, but he didn't want to let it out, scared of what could happened. "wait a damn second." the chinese male's eyes widened before he looked at jaemin. "this means that... all those times i told the rabbit about my feelings for jaemin... and it was you?!"

jaemin gulped as renjun's tone became harsher.

maybe transforming wasn't the best idea he ever had.

"wait a minute." jeno spoke before jaemin could think of an answer. "feelings?" he asked again, looking between renjun and jaemin with furrowed brows.  "you knew that he had feelings for you? and you never told me?" jeno continued, letting out an annoyed sigh. "this wasn't what we had agreed on."

"agreed on?!" renjun's eyes widened more if possible. "so, what? this was all planned? are you guys kidding me?!"

"i-it's not l-like that..." jaemin spoke for the first time in a while.

"oh, really?" renjun raised a brow, looking successfully at jeno and jaemin. "tell me then. tell me that our first meeting wasn't planned."

renjun looked at jaemin expectantly, but the hybrid didn't dare speaking.

their first meeting wasn't not planned. in fact, jeno and him had spent long trying to find the best way for jaemin and renjun to meet.

seeing that jaemin didn't plan on answering, renjun went on.

"tell me that jeno wasn't aware that we met! tell me that you came because you wanted to see me and not because you were forced to! tell me that you meant what you said to me!" renjun bit on his quivering bottom lip. "t-tell me that you weren't reporting everything that happened to jeno..."

"i-i..." jaemin stuttered, unable to form a sentence.

renjun let out a snort at jaemin's attempt to speak. "alright." he nodded. "well, be aware that i came to see you because i wanted to. be aware that i meant everything that i told you! and beware that i was sincere when i said that i had fallen for you!"

renjun's words were followed by a long silence that neither jaemin nor jeno dared breaking.

jaemin because he couldn't find the words to speak, and jeno because his brain had completely stopped functioning at what had just been revealed by his boyfriend.

"okay, so, i guess that my presence here isn't needed anymore." renjun declared. "i'll leave you two alone then, so that you can make whatever plans you'd like."

"r-renjun!" jaemin took a step forward, trying to approach renjun but being stopped by the chinese male's hand.

"jeno, i believe it is fair that i break up with you first, as you asked." renjun added, looking into his now ex-boyfriend's eyes.

the chinese male turned on his heels, picking his phone and his wallet that were lying around in the room before heading to the front door.

he opened it but stopped before walking out, facing the two frozen boys one last time.

"oh, and jeno." he spoke loud and clear. "i had told you that something was wrong with this rabbit."

and with that said, renjun walked out of his and jeno's shared apartment, slamming the door shut and leaving jaemin and jeno on their own, still frozen in the middle of the living room.

"j-jeno i- "

"why didn't you tell me?" jeno cut jaemin's words, looking at the hybrid with venom in his eyes.

"w-what...?" jaemin squeaked. "i-i... i-i didn't want to h-hurt you..."

"to hurt me?" jeno scoffed. "and you thought me learning it like that would hurt less?"

"i-i d-didn't know t-this would happen..." jaemin admitted.

jeno tsked and sighed scratching his nape as he thought for a while.

"we had agreed that you would tell me everything." jeno spat, not even looking at jaemin.

"y-yes but... i-i knew that if i told you t-that, you'd w-want me to stop seeing him..." jaemin admitted truthfully.

inevitably, it made jeno scoff. "and how is that surprising?!" jeno raised a brow. "how would you react if someone told you that your boyfriend was catching feelings for someone else?!"

jaemin didn't answer, keeping his head hanging low in shame.

he had no idea what to say next, and the jeno in front of him was scaring him more and more. he looked nothing like the cute and adorable jeno that would make sure jaemin was safe and sound, cuddled in his embrace. right now, jeno looked scary, with eyes that could kill and his whole face contorted with anger and betrayal.

and jaemin couldn't really blame him, because in the end, he was the one at fault.

"i know that you craved attention, but i never imagined that you craved it so much to the point you'd be ready to take someone's boyfriend." jeno let out with another scoff.

"n-no, this is not- "

"cut it, jaemin." jeno didn't let him finish his sentence. "i don't want to hear from you anymore."

and just the same way renjun had done minutes ago, jeno walked to the front door of the apartment, pulling it open and slamming it close behind his back when he was outside, thus leaving jaemin on his own with his sorrow.

the hybrid stayed paralysed on his spot, not believing what had happened.

in a matter of minutes, he had lost jeno, renjun, and the possibility of the two of them being together.

and all of that because he had been selfish for too long.

in the end he was right, he had always been the starting point of all this mess.

and so, here he found himself alone again, without a family or people who loved him.

but at this point, he was used to it.
