Reunion

Riggs' POV

I am out back sitting with Hadley watching our two kids play in the grass. It has been more than two years since Brae died and I feel like my dad, Grey, Chris, and Peter all know something more than I do.

I found out two years ago that Hadley was pregnant with twins. There my son and his name is Luke. He is going to be a great alpha one day. He always protects the other children in the pack against any harm. Then there is my daughter, Braelynn, she is an ambitious, clever girl a lot like Brae actually.

Alpha, there are two rogues at the border. One is a white wolf and the other is a black wolf. What would you like me to do? Damien, a guard tells me.

Make sure you stay hidden, I am on my way, I reply.

"Babe, I have to go. There are two rogues at the border," I give Hadley a kiss on the lips.

"Okay, be safe and I will bring the children inside."

I nod and shift into my grey wolf, running towards the eastern border. When I get there, I shift back and walk over to Damien.

Where are they? I ask.

There, he points a finger at the two wolves who are just sitting at the border. They seem to be talking to each other, maybe they are mates.

I step out from behind the tree with Damien following close behind. The white wolf looks eerie of me, but the other stand confident. The black wolf is the biggest werewolf I have seen in my whole life.

"Shift," I command.

The white wolf nods and the black wolf rolls his eyes. They both shift back. The white wolf is a dude, but he is a hybrid. I won't let him stay around here unless he wants to die. The guy keeps his head down in submission and the black wolf looks up to reveal Brae. Wait, Brae?!

"W-w..." I can't even form words due to how shocked I am.

"Hey Riggs, long time no see," she grins. "I need to speak with Chris and Jack if you don't mind."

I still can't form words, instead I just nod and the man follows her. I hold a hand out and growl at him. I do not want a hybrid on my territory.

"Calm your shit Riggs, Zane is as harmless as a fly. Anyway, he is with me."

I hesitate before letting him follow Brae and I follow close beside Zane with Damien following behind him. Brae leads us to the pack house and waltzes right on inside. The foyer is empty as everyone of getting ready for breakfast.

Brae sniffs the air and walks into the kitchen where my dad, Grey, and Chris are. Brae leans against the wall, waiting for them to notice her presence. I still can't believe she is standing here in front of me after I saw her die for the second time two years ago.

Chris turns around first and he lets out a squeal like a little girl. He squeezes Brae into a tight hug. How does he know her?

"I have missed you so much!" Chris giggles.

"I missed you too, Chris," Brae chuckles.

"What am I? Chopped liver?" My dad laughs.

Brae pulls out of Chris' arms and hugs my dad. I never realized they had gotten so close. When did that happen?

"Hey! I haven't seen you since you died, I should be getting a hug first," Grey pouts.

"Sorry Grey," Brae chuckles again and gives Grey a hug.

"Jack and Chris told me most of what happened, how did you get out? Who is that?" Grey wonders, pointing to Zane.

"That's Zane, he's the one who kept me sane these past two years. Zane, this is Grey, Jack, and Chris," Brae introduces, pointing to each person as she say their name.

"Nice to meet you all," Zane says, making eye contact with anyone.

"Can we talk somewhere?" Brae asks the group.

"Sure, we can talk in my office," I say, I really want an explanation.

Brae looks at the group and they all exchange glances. What the hell is going on?

"Why won't your guys talk to me? I want to know what's going on," I demand.

Brae looks at the others and sighs, "I guess it's time. Peter, go ahead and tell him."

"What?" I say.

I know everything about Brae. Whenever I  blocked you out, we would talk.

What the fuck Peter? Why haven't you told me anything?

I wanted her permission.

Even after she died?! He goes silent.

I huff and tell the group to give me a minute while Peter tells me the story. I walk into the Living room.

Tell me everything, I demand.

Well...Brae is...uh... Peter trails off.

Spit it out Peter!

Brae is Braelynn. Well, was Braelynn before she died. That's how we have Hadley, Brae wasn't our second chance, she was our first mate.

I am taken aback. How did I not put the pieces together? Maybe I just thought it was too good to be true.

What else, I feel like there is more if she had to tell you to tell me.

She was the alpha of her pack, not the beta. She also heard our growl that night.

What night?

When we found her laying in the grass, dying. She knew someone was there and she gave up. She couldn't live that life any longer and she found out later on that she was half human. She didn't have a wolf and she told me it was for the best that she died. That no one would have accepted a mere human in our pack.

I would have loved her so much as a mate. I wish she didn't have to die all those years ago, but I can't go back in time Pete. I hope you understand.

I do. Let's go hear what happened to her because I have a feeling that she wasn't just avoiding you for two and a half years.

I stand up from the couch and make my way back to the kitchen. I hear a squeal and pitter patter of little feet. I guess Hadley has found her long lost friend.

I walk into the the kitchen to see Brae and Hadley in a tight hug with the kids looking at Brae weird. Luke is standing protectively in front of Braelynn.

"How are you back?" Hadley asks.

"I will explain to you all soon, but first, who are these two cuties," Brae smiles at my children.

She crouches down and introduces herself, "I'm Braelynn, but you can call me Brae. Who are you too?"

"Your name is Braelynn?" My daughter asks.

"Yup," Brae replies, popping the 'p'.

My daughter's face lights up and she shoves past her brother, "My name is Braelynn too!"

"Isn't that a funny coincidence. What about you young man?"

"My name is Luke. How do you know mommy?"

"She was a part of my pack a long time ago," Brae smiles.

Alpha children mature more quickly than other wolves and humans. My kids may be two years old, but they act like four or five year olds.

"Wow," Braelynn breathes out. "You are an alpha? But you are a girl."

"I was an alpha, but now I am a rogue. My pack all went their separate ways."

"A-a r-rogue?" Braelynn stutters and Luke stands protectively in front of her.

"Don't come near my sister rogue," Luke steely says.

"Did you teach them to be afraid of rogues?" Brae points an accusing finger at me.

"Of course, they are almost all dangerous," I say, defending myself.

"They are misunderstood for the most part," she turns back to my kids. "Do you trust Chris?"

Luke looks at Chris and back to Brae, "Yes."

"I was the one who found him...he was a rogue," Brae explains.

I thought a girl named Harley found him and helped him out? I'm so confused.

"Really Uncle Chris?" Braelynn asks.

"Yeah sweetheart. I technically am still a rogue, I never joined the pack officially," Chris responds.

"Oh, sorry Brae. It's nice to meet you," Braelynn says in a quiet voice.

"Glad to meet your both as well," Brae smiles.

"Why don't we go meet in Riggs' office and talk. I want to hear all about what happened," Grey suggests.

"Can we come?" Luke asks.

I look to Brae to ask for permission and she shrugs, "Fine, but you two have to behave okay?"

"Thank you daddy," they both squeal and give me a hug.

"Let's go," I take their small hands in mine and lead everyone to my office.

I sit down in my chair and the others either squish in one the couch or sit in the one of the two chairs. Braelynn takes a seat on Brae's lap causing Brae to laugh. Brae wraps her arms around Braelynn and wait for everyone to settle down. Luke sits on my lap with his hands on the table as if he wants to get down to business.

Brae would be such a good mom. I hope one day she can have kids with Ace. They seemed to be good together, they are mates after all. I wonder where he is. Maybe they do have kids and that is where she has been.

"Okay, when I came back the second time, the Moon Goddess told me something was going to happen, something bad. I have figured out what it is now. The vampires are going to declare war on the wolves."

Gasps are heard around the room and I speak up, "How do you know this?"

"I have been in the dungeons of the Sundusk coven for the last two and a half years."

This shocks everyone except Jack and Chris. I decide to ask the question everyone is thinking,  "How did you survive for long?"

"Mentally or physically?" She asks.

"Both?"

"Well, I had Zane to keep me mostly sane and I can't die. After two and a half years they haven't figured it out so I don't think there is anything that can kill me at this point."

Once again, everyone is shocked into silence including me. What do you say to that? She survived one of the most deadly places on earth for over two years and then managed to escape from it.

Brae starts laughing as she thinks of something and I see Zane roll his eyes as if he knows what she is thinking about. I ask her what she is laughing at.

"Oh, right. They found a way to scar my body and I may not be as sane as I was before being captured. Pain makes me laugh or say sarcastic comments. I have to remember that I am back in civilization again."

I decide to turn to Zane, "How did you survive there? Do you have some special, invincible hybrid power or something?"

"Uh, you see..." he hesitates and I know this won't be good.

"He was a prisoner in the cell across from mine. They didn't want to kill him because of him being a hybrid. They wanted him on their side for the war," Brae answers for Zane and Zane gives her a thankful smile.

That was a total lie, but now isn't the time to dig further, "Do you know when the war is happening or how many vamps are going to be at war with us?"

"No, but if I were them, I would gather rogues as allies and then attack the weakest packs, working my way up the chain," Brae shrugs while braiding Braelynn's hair.

"I will send out a message to all pack and advise that some pack join together until the war is over."

Everyone nods and stands up, leaving the room. I ask Brae to stay behind so I can talk to her in private.

"Do I have anything to worry about when it comes to Zane?"

"No, he is a good guy, trust me," Brae replies.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you," I apologize, feeling guilty.

"I didn't want to be saved Riggs, it had nothing to do with you. Anyway, that was almost five years ago."

"Wow, time flies," I chuckle awkwardly. "I will always love you, Brae."

"I will always love you as well Riggs."

She begins walking towards the door before turning around and looking me in the eye, "You have adorable kids by the way. I am glad you are happy.

I give her a nod of appreciation and she leaves me by myself to figure out what to do in preparation of the upcoming war. I still feel like she isn't telling me everything. Where the hell is Ace?
