Riggs' POV

Once I walk onto the balcony, my eyes immediate find Brae. I really wish she was the one up here with me right now. Instead, Amelia is here, kneeling before my mother.

"If anyone has any objection, speak now or forever hold your tongue."

I am very tempted to object right then and there and tell them I want my second chance mate to be my Luna and Queen. The only thing keeping me from doing so is that mark on Amelia's neck.

I look back to Brae and she looks up at me. She rolls her eyes and then her eyes scan over the room before landing on Grey who is also staring at her.

God, I wish she would use that beautiful voice of hers and tell everyone that she is my true mate and that she should take the throne.

"I hereby pronounce you, Amelia Carne, Luna of the Royal Pack and Queen of Werewolves."

Applause and cheers erupt from the crowd, but then I feel a snapping in my heart from the bond I had with Brae. I look up to see her face contorted in pain and she stumbles out of the exit.

'Why was she in so much pain?' I ask Peter.

'Because, asshole, you didn't reject her. Now she is in unspeakable pain because you made someone else you Luna. I am just glad she didn't feel it when you marked that bitch.'

'I am such an idiot.'

I walk over to Amelia and give her a hand to help her stand. We then walk over to the thrones that sit side by side and sit down together.

People start mingling and Amelia and I head downstairs to meet people. I excuse myself from the crowd and walk towards the exit where Grey is standing.

"You never rejected her, did you?" Grey asks.

"No, it didn't cross my mind," I say truthfully.

"Ass."

"I know. If she still out there?"

"Yes."

I open the door slowly with Grey looking over my shoulder. Both Brae and Ace are standing still, staring at each other in shock.

"Mate," I hear Ace whisper.

My eyes widen as Brae's eyes light up and she has a big smile on her face. She jumps into Ace's arms in a bear hug and he hugs her back, spinning her in a circle.

Grey's hand lands on my shoulder causing me to jump. I turn around and close the door in the process.

"It's good for her," Grey tells me.

"You're right. I have a chosen mate now, she deserves a mate too."

Grey gives a reassuring smile and heads off to find his mate. I decide I should do the same and look for Amelia. I couldn't seem to find her anywhere but I do find my mom.

"Hi mom," I smile.

"Riggs, how are you? You seem sad."

I look at my feet, "Can I talk to you in private please?"

"Of course, follow me."

We walk out the back exit, opposite to where Brae was, and down the hall a bit.

"What is it Honey?"

I take a deep breath, "Yesterday, I found my second chance mate."

"What?"

"I found my second..."

"I heard what you said, why didn't you tell anyone? Why did you go through with the ceremony today?" I send some irritation and anger in her voice.

"Because I already marked Amelia. I couldn't be with her anyway."

"Who?"

"Beta Brae Kingston."

"That poor girl, she seemed so nice. At least tell me you rejected her and explained why."

I scratch the back of my head, not making eye contact with my mother.

"Riggs Lockhart, tell me you didn't just put that girl through unimaginable pain that could have been avoided."

"I didn't think of it, it all happened so fast."

The rage in her eyes is growing and her eyes are glowing the golden brow of her wolf. My own eyes widen in shock and fear because she never lets her wolf surface like this unless it is to fight.

"You better go apologize to that girl and explain everythin..."

She is cut off my a loud moan coming from the room a couple doors down. I look at her with disgust and she is still enraged.

My mom marches to the room, knocks loudly on the door twice before barging in with me hot on her tail.

What I see makes Peter beyond mad. He lost his true mate twice now and had to settle for her. The girl who is supposed to rule by my side for the rest of our days.

Amelia has already taken the chance to cheat on me. Here she is on a bed in her underwear underneath Jake, the alpha of the Moon Pack.

All I see is red and I don't hold back Peter. He takes hold on my body and walks over to Jake, ripping him from the bed.

'Grey, I need you in the back hall. Now.' I mindlink.

'On my way.'

I focus back in on my surroundings to see Peter punching Jake repeatedly. Grey appears and pulls Peter back from Jake. Peter snarls, but stops fighting.

"You take both him and her to the cells," he growls at Grey.

Grey nods and grabs Jake as two guards comes in. One guard helps Grey while the other grabs Amelia.

"Let me go, I am the queen." Amelia says, power lacing her voice.

I can see the guard struggling and Peter shouts in his Alpha King voice, "You are banned from ever using that power again, you are not the Queen and you will soon be officially stripped of the title."

The guards leave along with Grey. Peter doesn't give me back control though.

'Peter, it is time to let me have control again.'

'I need to do something first,' He then blocks me out. I can't see a thing.

Peter's POV

I follow the scent of my mate, I know Riggs can't smell it anymore, but I still can.

I though I would be following the scent into the ballroom but instead it goes to the kitchen. When I turn the corner, I see Brae and Ace holding hands while they talk. I am so happy that she found a second chance mate.

"Brae?" I ask.

She turns to look at me, "Alpha Riggs, what are you doing here?"

"I am not Riggs, I am his wolf, Peter. I have him blocked right now because I want to talk with you in private if that is okay."

"Of course," she smiles and turns to Ace giving him a peck on the cheek.

A lot of wolves have trouble when they are out in human form. Riggs and I have done this quite often in the last two years. I have gotten ahold of my anger for the most part and being around Brae really helps. We walk out to the living room and sit on either side of the couch, facing each other.

"I want to apologize that Riggs didn't wait for you. You have to know what after Braelynn died two years ago, we didn't think we would be blessed with a second chance. We were pushed by our father to choose a mate. When we didn't, he chose for us."

"You don't have to explain yourself to me Peter."

"No, I do. Amelia was great at first but then she started...showing her true colours. She gets irritated when Riggs goes to visit Braelynn's grave everyday."

"Wait, he visits her grave everyday?"

"Yes."

"What's bothering you Peter? I mean, why are you here and not in the ballroom?"

"Amelia cheated on us."

Brae goes silent and she has sympathy and pity in her eyes.

"I'm sorry to hear that Peter, how are you handling it?"

"Not great. She was with Jake, the alpha of the Moon Pack."

I see pure rage in her eyes with a hint of fear. She breaks eye contact and looks away. She has done this before with Riggs.

"Are you okay Brae?"

"No. I'm sorry Peter, but I have to go. Ace and I will be leaving soon. Thank you for having us here."

I look at her, confused, as she makes her way to the kitchen. Realization, confusion, and happiness flashes through me.

"Braelynn," I said it no higher than a whisper.

She stops dead in her tracks and turns around, tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry," she apologizes.

"For what?" I ask, still in denial of my Braelynn standing in front of me, alive.

"For not holding on. It's all my fault all this happened. That your chosen mate cheated on you, that you have to suffer the past two years. I am so sorry."

"It isn't your fault. You had bad injuries and your pack exiled you on top of that, it wasn't your fault."

"I could have survived, I could have stayed awake. I heard your growl when you found me, but I already decided that I was done and that I gave up."

"There is no way you could have known I was your make in that situation."

"I wasn't good enough for you anyway. Your parents would have never accepted me."

"Why would you think that?"

"I didn't have a wolf. My mother had an affair with a human and I was the result. That's why the Moon Pack hated me."

"What do you mean that you didn't? How do you have a wolf now?"

"The Moon Goddess."

"You met her," I gasp.

She nods, "When I died. After that I became a rogue and started to make a close knit pack with Ace and other kind rogues we came across."

"Wow. Wait I thought you were the Beta do the pack?"

"I didn't want to seem suspicious. Promise me you won't tell Riggs who I am."

"I won't. Your secret is safe with me. I guess I have to go on a search for a Luna again."

"You know that you may still have a second chance mate out there, right?"

"How?"

"Well, I am your first mate. You haven't found a second chance yet."

"Even if I do find her, I will be forever bonded with Amelia."

Brae's eyes gloss over for a minute, as if she is mind linking someone. She comes to and looks at me with a smile on her face.

"Bring me to Amelia."

"Why?"

"Just trust me."

I nod and lead her to the cells where both Amelia and Jake are being kept. I see her stiffen as we walk by Jake's cell but she doesn't look inside. Did he hurt her too?

I unlock Amelia's cell and Brae walks in.

"Hi Amelia, remember me?"

"The bitch who is the true mate of my mate. I know who you are."

"Well, he won't be your mate for long."

"It's an irreversible process bitch, no matter how much he denies it," she looks straight into my eyes, "He is mine now."

"I wouldn't be too sure about that," Brae smiles.

I furrow my eyebrows as I watch her walk up to Amelia and put a hand on her mark.
