Three Identities, Three Troubles
You tossed the script down and sighed. It was Sunday now and you had no idea what you were going to do. This whole week has sent you into a spiral.
No, this wasn't the week of Homecoming I'm referring to. This was the week that came after.
You thought everything was going to be fine now. That you had now started your life as a normal high school student.
How wrong you were.
How terribly wrong you were.
Power Up!
It all started that next Monday after Homecoming. The Monday after Buttercup kissed you. Things were looking up. And you were all smiles when you showed up to school.
You were getting your books from your locker when Blossom saw you. She always did in the mornings since your locker was in the same hallway as her first class.
The only difference this time was that she didn't stop to say good morning. Just looking at you reminded her of what she saw.
She decided to keep her distance. She didn't want to blow up over something out of her control.
She walked right past you. You didn't even know she was there. You remained blissfully unaware.
--------------
Buttercup: I just don't think that the Sam Rami Spider-Man movies are as good as people say they are.
You gasped. However, Buttercup continued on her argument.
Buttercup: The villians were all goofy and had no real reason to hate Spider-Man, the graphics are terrible, Aunt May is so mean for no reason, MJ is a total jerk, and how do you expect me to believe that Toby is supposed to be a highschooler in that first movie?
Y/N: But....nostalgia.
Buttercup: I didn't grow up with those movies. I grew up with the Andrew Garfield ones and even those sucked.
Y/N: I...I don't think they're that bad.
Buttercup: You're just a nerd. Superhero movies aren't fun if you're a superhero yourself.
You could argue that, but that would be outting yourself. So all you could do is just bite your tounge and take the loss.
You, Buttercup, and Bubbles were sitting on the roof eating lunch. Well, Bubbles left to get something to drink which left you and Buttercup alone.
You went to take a bite of your burger, but there was a sudden blast. You and Buttercup looked up to see that it came from the city. Did a monster get through?
Buttercup: Crap.
She stood up and narrowed her eyes towards the rising smoke.
Buttercup: Head inside. I think it's a bad guy.
A bad guy? That means....you could fight a bad guy!
Buttercup flew off and soon you found a blue and pink streak going after her. You stood up and looked at your bag.
In an instant, you were flying towards the smoke. You wore your disguise so you were now Buster.
Y/N: What's the problem this Tiaahhh!
You found a large piece of rubble flying right towards you. You quickly caught it to avoid it crushing anyone and looked to see where it had came from.
Mojo: You fools cannot beat me! I am Mojo Jojo! The most diabolical Jojo in Townsville!
You blinked before you tossed the piece of rubble aside. You then flew down to Blossom.
Y/N: Hey, so, what the heck is going on here? Why is a monkey piloting a Gundam?
Blossom jumped at your sudden appearance.
Blossom: Oh, Buster. Good timing. Mojo is attacking the city.
Y/N: Uh huh. I can see that. Who is Mojo?
Mojo spotted you. He then began to count on his fingers.
Mojo: There are four Powerpuffs now?
Y/N: I'm a dude!
Mojo: No matter. I shall crush you as well, for I am Mojo Jojo!
Y/N: Yeah, I heard you the first time.
This guy was mental. You almost felt bad that you had to beat him up.
Almost.
Mojo's mech punched down to where you and Blossom were. You both flew out of the way and began to hover over Mojo.
Y/N: What's the plan? I'm used to dealing with monsters.
Blossom: We just have to get Mojo out of the robot.
Buttercup: Easier said than done. Whatever he made it into of, it's hard to hit. I can't get through it.
Bubbles: This suit is also a lot faster than his last one.
So it's durable and fast. Good thing your were more durable and faster.
Y/N: Think I can take a crack at this?
Blossom: Go ahead.
You nodded. You then flew down towards Mojo. He moved his machine and it swung at you. You took the hit which sent you right into a nearby building.
You groaned a bit but got back up. You then flew out of the building and slammed right into the machine. Buttercup was right. Whatever this metal is, it was tough.
You tried to punch it again, but it barely dented it.
Y/N: The heck?
Mojo started to laugh.
Mojo: You puttypuffs are no match for my robot!
Y/N: I'm not a girl!
You began to deliver punch after punch, kick after kick, flying around the machine as fast as you could.
There just wasn't a weak spot on this thing.
Mojo: You're fast, Powerpuff. But my machine is faster.
Y/N: I'm not a Powerpuf....OOF!
You were suddenly punched in the gut by the machine. You flew down the street and came to a stop once you hit a fire hydrate. The water began to spray out.
Bubbles: Buster!
Mojo laughed which turned their attention to him.
Mojo: This is your end, Powerpuffs! You never stood a chance against me, Mojo Jojo!
Buttercup: We've kicked your butt a hundred times before, Mojo. This isn't any different.
Mojo: Expect it is, Buttercup! You will never defeat my machine. Just ask your fourth Powerpuff over.....there?
Everyone turned around to see you pushing yourself up. You were now completely soaked from head to toe, but that wasn't what caught their eyes.
Your eyes were a bright red now. Not only that, but a strange F/C energy began to surround you.
Y/N: I. Told. You. I'm. Not. A. POWERPUFF GIRL!
Mojo: Oh no.
You suddey vanished. The girls were suddenly hit with a strong gust of wind which flew right past Mojo. Everyone stood around confused.
Buttercup: Where did he go?
Well, at the current moment, you were in Paris. No, Moscow. No, Tokyo!
You were flying around the world at super sonic speeds. In an instant, you were back in Townsville with a clenched fist. You stopped right in front of Mojo, and swung.
The force of your punch was enough to not only dent the metal, but melt a hole in it. You grabbed some stray wires and pulled them out.
You crushed them in your hand before you leaped up and kicked the thick glass dome protecting Mojo.
It flew straight off.
The robot fell backwards and Mojo ended up rolling out of it. He tried to punch himself up, but he suddenly found the ground missing from under him.
You held him by his cape as you hovered a few feet off the ground.
Y/N: Look at me.
Mojo did so.
Y/N: Do I look like a girl to you?
Mojo: N-No.
Y/N: Do I look like a Powerpuff to you?
Mojo: No, sir.
Y/N: Good.
You then pulled him close.
Y/N: Don't get it twisted.
You then dropped him onto his robot. You dusted your hands off and landed on the ground where the girls watched.
Buttercup: Dude, you're going to put us out of business.
Y/N: Sorry. I just....personal issues. Anyway, looks like the day is saved thanks to the Powerpuff Girls, and their friend Buster.
The three looked at you unamused.
Y/N: Not friends yet? That's cool. Totally cool.
Bubbles: Thank you for your help. I guess we should get Mojo here back to his cell.
Mojo: Mojo Jojo doesn't feel so good.
You just shrugged.
Y/N: Well, later.
You flew up to leave. However, when you were right above the park, you were surpised to find Blossom stopping you.
Blossom: One second.
You stopped and hovered in the air as she caught up to you. This was actually the first time the two of you had talked since Homecoming, though Blossom didn't know that.
Blossom: Hey, look, I know that Buttercup might have said that you're taking our job or whatever, but we really do appreciate your help. I'm sure if you didn't do....whatever it was you did then we would still be trying to figure out how to stop Mojo.
You just waved it off.
Y/N: It's no problem. Really. I'm happy to help.
Blossom smiled. She then held out her hand. You flew towards her and shook it.
Blossom: See you on the next one.
You smirked under your bandanna.
Y/N: Yeah, likewise.
You then flew off. As you did, Blossom watched you.
Blossom: He seems really familiar.
------------------
It was Tuesday night when you found yourself once again dressed as the Stranger.
You had come to realize that Townsvile had crime. Just not a whole lot of it. Still, it was enough for you to at least keep an eye on it.
Also you got bored and you really wanted to do something instead of just sitting in your room getting your butt kicked in Smash Bros.
Courage had the advantage. He didn't have to go to school or work. He had all day to get good.
You were perched on the end of a building looking at the streets below.
Buttercup: Well, this is a surpise.
You looked over your shoulder to see Buttercup hovering behind you. She wore all black just like when you fought the Gangreen Gang.
Y/N: What are you doing here?
Buttercup: I could ask you the same thing. First that Buster guy, now you. Is everyone just looking to take our jobs.
You just smirked. You turned back to the streets while Buttercup began to hover on her back. Suddenly, you heard a cry for help. It was a woman.
You quickly leaped off the roof and used your cape to cover the fact that you were flying. To Buttercup, it looked more like you had become a kind of mass of shadows.
You landed and ducked into the darkness to follow the cry. Buttercup flew overhead and followed.
Finally, you reached an alleyway where you found two men grabbing a woman. Wasting no time, you leaped into the light.
Y/N: I don't think she wants to go with you.
The two men stopped attacking the woman and turned to you. The woman smiled at the sight of a hero.
Thug: Walk away, Phantom of the Oprea. This don't concern you.
Y/N: Your grammar could use some work, but this is my city.
One of the thugs charged towards you, but you flipped over him. He ended up slamming right into a wall. The second thug pulled out a knife, but a laser blast from the darkness got rid of it.
The man cried out and looked at his hand, but you sued the chance to deliver a powerful kick to the man's jaw.
Now with both men taken care of, you turned to the woman.
Y/N: Your safe now.
Woman: Thank you, so much. But I'm not the one who needed saving.
You raised a brow, before you were suddenly hit by something. You hit the wall across from the woman and found that your hand was bound....by hair?
Y/N: What the...
The woman began to laugh before she changed form. Your eyes grew wide as did Buttercup's.
Buttercup: No way. Sedusa!
Sedusa: Hahaha! Looks like I caught myself a real handsome one.
Buttercup flew down into the light and raised her fists. You, on the other hand....
Y/N: Hamahamahamahamahamahama....
Buttercup: Let him go!
Sedusa: Oh, a Powerpuff? Looks like you brats can make friends.
She suddenly lifted you into the air and threw you down into a pile of trashcans. You groaned but leaped back up, a banana peel on your head.
Y/N: Ouch. Though, I guess I can't say a girl hasn't ever tossed me aside like that.
You turned to Buttercup with a goofy grin. She just rolled her eyes.
Sedusa: I had heard that you were running around with Townsville's newest vigilante. Guess the rumors are true.
Buttercup: Whatever you're planning, Sedusa, give it up. Stranger is too strong to fall for your power.
Y/N: Power? The hair thing?
Sedusa: No. My power~
Why did she sound like that?
She suddenly smirked at you and began to beckon you to come closer with her finger. You didn't even realize you were doing what she said until Buttercup grabbed your arm.
Buttercup: Snap out of it! You're making me look bad.
Y/N: But....she....she's so hot!
Sedusa: Yes, I am. And if you come over here like a good boy, I'll show you just how fun I can be as well~
You once again found yourself starting to fall under her spell. However, you shook your head as you tried to think about something else.
Think about Grandma Muriel. Think about Courage. Liz. The Professor. Anyone!
Just, not Sedusa.
Sedusa: Huh. That usually works.
Buttercup: I already told you, he's strong. And together, we're going to kick your butt!
Buttercup flew towards Sedusa while you held your head. You couldn't control it. It was like you needed to be near her. You needed to worship her.
No. You needed to fight this.
Buttercup swung at Sedusa, but she caught her with her hair and slammed her against the wall. She then held her in place as she walked towards you.
She lifted your head to make you look at her.
Sedusa: Don't you know you should look a woman in her eyes?
You struggled even harder as you stared deep into her eyes. You could hear laughter. You could see happiness. A future where you're happy. Your greatest dream.
Sedusa: Now, how about a kiss...AHHHH!
You suddenly punched her in the boob. Her spell was broken and you finally had full control over yourself. You quickly grabbed her and slammed her to the ground.
Her consideration was broken and she suddenly let Buttercup go. She dropped down next to you as you held your fists up.
Buttercup: Knew you could do it.
Y/N: She....she a....she a thot.....I am a man. I. Am. A. MAN!
You then grabbed Sedusa and lifted her over your head. You then threw her at a wall.
Buttercup: I-I think you got her.
Y/N: My fists are rated E for everyone!
You grabbed Sedusa by the leg and swung her into a dumpster. You then closed the lid and kicked it out into the road. There, a truck hit it.
Buttercup watched with wide eyes. She knew that Sedusa would survive it, but did you?
Y/N: I need to take a shower.
----------------
Wednesday brought Drama Practice. Just like always, you killed it.
But this even had it's own problems.
Bubbles: Hey, are you okay? You seem tired.
You just nodded. In reality, you didn't get any sleep last night. After your fight with Sedusa, you patrolled a bit longer with Buttercup before you went home. But you just laid in bed.
Bubbles: If you need to take a break, just say something.
Y/N: I will. Thanks.
Bubbles sat next to you while another pair ran through their scene. You were just so tired. So so tired.
Hearing them talk just made you so sleepy.
Bubbles must have noticed this. She watched as you swayed back and forth. Finally, she tapped your arm.
Bubbles: Hey, you should get some rest.
You were going to decline, but seeing the look on her face, you knew she wouldn't let you.
She then patted her lap. Getting her gesture, you moved to that you could lay down. You laid your head on her lap and ended up closing your eyes.
You didn't even realize that you had fallen asleep until you woke up to Buttercup's voice.
Buttercup: We're not a couple....
Bubbles: So he should be fine to sleep on whoever he wants.
Buttercup: That's not the point.
Blossom: We're at school. Can we not argue about this right now?
You slowly opened your eyes, but you only saw two sets of feet.
Wait, you knew those shoes.
You looked up to see the three sisters arguing about something. You sat up which surpised them.
You rubbed the back of your neck, still feeling a bit sore from Monday, and looked at them.
Y/N: Uh, hey. What's going on here?
The three all looked at each other.
Powerpuffs: Nothing.
You looked at them all confused. You then sat up a bit more, but groaned. You felt sore. Now that you had been actually taking a break, your body was now hurting.
Blossom: Are you okay?
Y/N: Uh....yeah. Yeah, I'm okay.
You quickly fixed yourself. They couldn't know you were Buster. You also needed a better name.
Bubbles: Are you feeling better now?
You looked at her and smiled.
Y/N: Yeah. Thank you for letting me rest a bit.
Blossom: Was something wrong?
Y/N: I just couldn't stay awake. Bubbles let me use her like a pillow for a bit. Hey, what time is it anyways?
Powerpuffs: 5:34 PM.
Y/N: Schools been out for 2 hours?!
You quickly jumped to you feet.
Y/N: I got to get home! I promised Liz I would cook tonight!
You grabbed your bag and ran as fast as you could out of the theater. The three just watched you.
-----------------
Thursday, it became clear that something was wrong. All three sisters were now being a bit...weird.
By weird, I mean they were straight up avoiding each other.
You had seen them in the halls, but they were straight up pretending like they didn't exist. And not only that, but they actively went out of their way to avoid each other.
You noticed this when you were walking with Buttercup. You were both talking when you suddenly spotted Bubbles taking a sharp left down the hall, when her class was the one you and Buttercup just came from.
At first you thought she just went to go talk to someone, but that theory was destroyed when Buttercup was no where to be seen at lunch.
Y/N: Hey, Bubbles?
Bubbles: Hm?
Y/N: Where's Buttercup? Are you two fighting or something?
Bubbles seemed to freeze at the question. She just kept eating.
Bubbles: No. She's probably just off talking to her friends or something.
Really? Cause it definitely seemed like they were fighting. But, maybe you should stay out of it.
At least that's what you thought. Turns out, Buttercup had other ideas.
Buttercup: Blossom won't get off my back and Bubbles just won't stop whining.
You sat in your bed with your blankets pulled up to your chin. Courage also hid under the blankets. Buttercup had flown into your window without warning and was now complaining about her sisters.
It was 2:23 AM.
Buttercup: I don't even know why. It all started when that Buster guy showed up.
You just sat there. Courage slowly lifted his head up from the blankets and looked at you knowingly. You just pushed his head back down.
Y/N: What makes you say that?
Buttercup: I think it's because he's coming in and beating up all the monsters. That's, like, the one thing we bond over.
She sat on your bed with a sigh. She crossed her arm while you stared at her. You slowly moved closer to her. You awkwardly placed a hand on hers.
Y/N: Hey, I'm sure you girls will sort it out. I mean, there has to be something else, right?
Buttercup thought about it.
Buttercup: Nope. That's it. I don't know if you've noticed, but we're nothing alike. I mean....look at my sisters. Bubbles is the cheery, outgoing, drama club member. Blossom is the smart, pretty, leader type. And me? I'm just....me.
Y/N: Yeah, but you're cool in your own way. You all are. But maybe...you can all find something that you can all do together? Like play a game or read a book or.......I dunno.
Buttercup and you looked at each other. She then hugged you.
Buttercup: I appreciate you listening to me. But, maybe this will pass.
You slowly hugged her back.
Y/N: Yeah. Maybe.
Buttercup pulled away and looked at you.
Buttercup: You're not wearing pants.
You looked down at your boxers and nodded.
Y/N: No. No I am not.
Buttercup laughed while you moved the blankets to cover yourself a bit better. Courage just sat on her lap as she leaned back a bit.
Buttercup: Can I just stay here for a bit? I don't feel like going home right now.
Y/N: Sure. But I'm going to go back to sleep. It's only Thursday and I don't feel like passing out at school again.
Buttercup turned to you.
Buttercup: Yeah, about that, is that what happened? When I went to find you I found you sleeping on my sister's lap.
Y/N: She saw that I was having trouble staying up. I've been taking a new kind of medication that makes me a bit tired.
Buttercup: Oh. Well.....for now on, if that happens, come to me instead, okay? I mean, I'm, like, we're.....
You watched her as she tried to find the right words for what she wanted to say. Finally, she took a deep breath and just spoke through her teeth.
Buttercup: I don't want you sleeping on other girls.
She turned away so that you couldn't see her face. You just sat there for a second.
Y/N: Okay. I'll, uh, keep that in mind. I'm going back to bed now. Night.
Buttercup: Night.
You laid back down and pulled your blankets back over you. Buttercup just sat there and started to let Courage.
---------------
Friday was the day where everything really started to fall apart.
You didn't realize how bad it was until you found Mitch waiting for you at your locker.
Y/N: Hey, Mitch. How's it...
Mitch: We got a problem.
You slowed to a stop. What was he talking about?
Y/N: What happened?
Mitch sighed.
Mitch: Blossom has been talking to Robin. She asked me to talk to you.
You raised a brow. Could this be about what happened last night? What Buttercup was talking about?
Y/N: Uh, okay?
Mitch took a deep breath and looked around.
Mitch: The girls are....tensions are rising and it might be because of you.
You narrowed your eyes at him. What was he talking about?
Mitch: I....
He lowered his voice so that only you could hear him.
Mitch: I know about your powers. I know you're the Stranger and Buster.
Your eyes grew wide. How did he....how could he know? The one time you used your powers, he was unconscious.
Y/N: W-What? No way, dude. That's just...
Mitch: I'm not an idiot. I mean, a new superhero shows up the same time you do? The fight at the mall? The fact that you're never in the safe room? It adds up.
You realized you were caught. You just shook your head.
Mitch: And now, because of Buster, the girls are at each other's throats. You showing up and fighting monsters, it takes away the one thing that was holding them together. They won't ever admit it, but it's true.
You rubbed your neck and looked around.
Y/N: So, what do I do? Do I just stop fighting monsters?
Mitch: Are you crazy? No. Look, the problem is, the girls have lost their touch.
Their touch?
Mitch: They used to kick butt like it was no one's business, but things aren't the same anymore. They don't work as well as they used to. The truth is, Townsville needs you.
Y/N: Then what do I do?
Mitch shrugged. He then seemed to get an idea.
Mitch: Look, how about this? How about you just keep a low profile? Like, maybe, I don't know, maybe you can still fight monsters, but make it seem like the girls are the ones who beat them? And you can still do the street level stuff as the Stranger.
You slowly began to nod.
Y/N: Okay? So, like, maybe I can still beat the monsters, but make it seem like the girls did? That way they won't fight anymore?
Mitch shrugged.
Mitch: I have no idea. Whatever you do, we need to make sure the girls stop bickering. We need the Powerpuff Girls. But we also need the Stranger and Buster. I don't know why, but I think something big is coming.
Something big? What was he talking about?
No, that didn't matter right now. You needed to do something to fix the problem at hand.
---------------
That brings us to the present. You stared at your script before you sighed.
Y/N: What do I do?
You buried your head in your hands. You've had all weekend to figure something out, yet you had nothing.
You found something nudging your foot. You looked up to see Coruage sitting there with your script. He then handed it to you. On it, he had written something.
Just be Y/N.
You looked back to your dog. Courage smiled. You grinned a bit and rubbed his head.
Y/N: Maybe, you have the right idea.
You both looked at the script.
Y/N: Maybe I should just be Y/N for a while.
