Lakeview Pt. 2

You didn't know what you really expecting Lakeview to be like. You definitely weren't expecting this.

Mitch: Looks like we picked a great time to visit.

Everyone stood in the middle of Main Street, but there wasn't any traffic. Instead, the entire thing was blocked off for some kind of autumn festival. Lots of pumpkins.

You knew Halloween was a week away, but this was still pretty insane. And everyone was dressed like pilgrims.

Robin: Wow. You know, if my best friend wasn't slowly dying from a curse, I would suggest that we look around.

Zak: We'll still have to. We have to find these brothers. What were their names again?

You pulled out your phone as everyone gathered around. You opened the tab that you had saved. "The Blog Of The Unknown".

Y/N: Wart and Gregory.

Power Up!

In the end, you all split up into groups. Brat and Bubbles, Mitch and Robin, Zak went on his own, and you had Courage. The festival had actually spread past main street, you soon discovered.

You had taken the task to look for the brothers at their home. Mitch and Robin will look around the festival, Bubbles and Brat would look around town, and Zak would try to find more information on the Airship.

Courage: <It smells like fall>

You looked down at your dog. You really wished you could hear him. Though, you did now have your own exclusive power among the Chemical Children.

Blossom had her ice breath, Bubbles had her universal translation, and Brick had his fire. You were one of the cool kids.

Wait, no. Brat had the Void Power to. Then again, you still had no idea what she could do. It seemed to take longer with manifesting with her than it did with Mitch. And even then, you still didn't know the full extent of what he could now do.

Honestly, you just hoped that everyone was prepared to take on the Beast, should it have to come to it.

You came to a stop when you found the address you you were looking for. The house itself looked nice. Well kept.

You walked up to the door and began to reach out to knock, but it opened on it's own.

???: Come on, Greg. We're going to be late.

???: I'm right here, Wart! I needed to grab Jason.

You took a step back just as an older boy realized you were standing there. He looked just as surpised as you were.

One boy looked to be a few years older than you. The other looked to be about a year or so younger than you.

Wart: Oh, uh, hello?

Greg: Who is it?

You looked down at Courage then back to the brothers.

Y/N: Uh, Wart and Greg, I presume?

Wart: Um, yes. Who are you?

You took a deep breath and sighed.

Y/N: My name is Y/N. And, I need to know everything you do about the Beast.
---------------
Mitch stared at the large poster which depicted a strange pumpkin man. Or, at least, he thought that was what it was. It looked weird.

Robin: If you stare to hard, you might start a fire.

Mitch turned to his girlfriend. She had a small first aid bag hanging off her shoulder, officially solidifying her position as team medic.

Mitch: You hear anything?

Robin shook her head. However, at the moment, their phones went off. They both pulled out their phones to see that you had sent a message to the group chat.

Mitch: Looks like he found them.

Robin: So, what do we do now?

Mitch shrugged. He put his phone away and looked back towards the outskirts of town.

Mitch: Maybe I can get some sword training in?

Robin: "Sword training"? How do you go about that? Do you have a teacher?

Mitch shook his head.

Mitch: I don't. I just kinda....swing it around.

Robin looked at him shocked.

Robin: You don't have any formal training? How have you been helping Y/N this whole time?

Mitch: Plot armor, mostly.

Mitch turned to the camera with a smirk. Robin sighed as she pulled out a thing if tape.

Robin: Stop breaking the fourth wall. We're running out of tape. We won't make it to the Into The Unknown Arc at this rate.

Mitch: Right. Sorry.
----------------
You walked down the street with the brothers and their pet frog, what the heck was up with that, to whoever they were going.

Y/N: In sure you two are in a hurry, but could you slow down? I just want to talk.

Wart: What's there to talk about? I told you what you needed to know.

Y/N: No, you didn't. All you said was to "stay away from the Beast".

Gregory: It's very sound advice!

You groaned. You could keep up with them just fine, but they really didn't want to talk about the Beast.

Y/N: It's not like that's really an option for me, right now.

Wart: Look, I'm sure you're a nice guy or whatever, but we don't want to talk about it.

You finally had enough of chasing after them. You hurried ahead of them and stood in their way.

Y/N: You don't understand.

Wart: No, you don't understand.

He walked up to you and poked your chest.

Wart: What me and my brother had to go through when we were kids, it's not something we want to talk about.

You could hear the fear in his voice. Whatever happened, it must have been traumatizing.

You knew how he felt.

Wart: Now, if you'll excuse us, we have to be somewhere. Come on, Greg.

Wart walked around you and carried on with what he was doing. Greg stood there for a moment, holding his frog, and looked at you with sad eyes.

He then walked around you and hurried to catch up with his brother. You sighed, now finding yourself unsure what to do.

You could force them to help you, but that would be wrong. They've been through enough. It wasn't your place to make them go through it again.

But, Bubbles was on borrowed time.

Y/N: My friend is under his curse.

The brother both stopped walking. They turned back towards you to see you still standing where they had left you. You turned around to look at them.

The brothers looked at each other, then back to you.

Wart: How bad is it?
----------------
Wart: Yeah, that's pretty bad.

You managed to bring the brothers back to the Airship after explaining the situation. Everyone now gathered in the bridge where Bubbles showed them her arm. Leafs were growing from it.

Greg: Does it hurt?

Bubbles shook her head.

Bubbles: It itches sometimes, but that's it.

Wart rubbed his chin.

Wart: You said it would completely take over in two months? Why so long?

Mitch: What do you mean?

Greg: When it happened to me, it nearly took over in one night.

This was new. You figured that it was due to her powers that she was able to keep it at bay for so long. Still, that only means the pain would eventually last longer as well.

Zak: So, you think you can help?

Wart: What? Help how?

Y/N: We need to know more about the Beast. Where we could find him and how we can beat him.

Wart and Greg looked at each other. Wart them crossed his arms.

Wart: Look, I would help if I could, but I don't really know anything about the Beast. I thought he was taken care of.

Greg: Yeah. The Woodsman took care of him, we thought.

The Woodsman?

Brat: Well, can we talk to that guy instead?

The two looked at each other. They then began to whisper to each other. After a moment, Wart nodded.

Wart: We might be able to help you with that much. No guarantees, though.

Y/N: We'll take what we can get. Lead the way.

Wart: Uh, we'll have to wait until tomorrow. We have a thing we need to get to, like, 15 minutes ago.

You were about to plea with him, but Bubbles grabbed your wrist.

Bubbles: That's fine. But, where do you need to go?

Wart smiled a bit.

Wart: Well, why don't you all just come along?
-------------
Y/N: What.

Mitch: The.

Zak: Fu...

Robin: This is so cool!

You all found yourselves in the middle of what you could only describe as madness. Well, kinda.

It was actually the sight of tonight's party. It was going to be a huge dance for the festival and Wart and Greg agreed to help set it up.

Turns out, you were right about their ages. Wart was 20 and attending the local community College. Greg was only 14. Gregory liked to help with local events and Wart always pitched in when he could.

Greg: More to the right.

Wart pulled on the banner before he got the ok. He then hammered a nail to make it stay.

Bubbles: Well, we shouldn't just stand around. We should help out.

Brat: Sure. While we're at it, why don't we all hold hands and sing happy songs.

Brat turned and started to leave, but Courage grabbed her by the pant leg and dragged her along. You turned to Mitch and shrugged.

Might as well lend a hand.
--------------
You carried two large barrels on your arms. You went to where Greg told you and set them down. Greg then carried over a table and set it down.

Mitch and Robin worked on painting some last minute decorations. They would be dried by the time the dance started.

Bubbles was helping with the higher things like hanging up streamers and such. Brat got dragged into setting up the booths with Zak. Coruage watched all of this while wearing a hard hat.

Together, you all worked to get everything ready. Not just your team either. Wart and Gregory's friends and other volunteers helped out a lot.

Before long, about 2 hours or so, everything was ready.

Wart: Wow. This actually looks really good.

Y/N: Yeah. It kinda does. So, what now?

Wart sighed.

Gregory: Now we put on the costumes!

All: Costumes?

Wart: Yep. The costumes.

What were they talking about? What costumes?
-------------
Y/N: Hmmm....

You looked at yourself in the mirror and sighed. You looked so weird right now.

Wart gave you a F/C cloak that reached your ankles. Underneath was a white dress shirt with a F/C vest. Brown trousers were held up with suspenders and you also wore a pair of leather boots.

Y/N: Hmmmm....

Mitch: Hey, we kinda match.

Mitch walked over and placed a hand on your shoulder. You looked at his outfit to see he was wearing something similar, minus the cloak. His dark green vest was also left open.

And even though you thought it was over, you had your hair slicked back. Mitch also had his hair done.

Y/N: Why do we need to wear these things?

Wart: It's tradition.

You both turned back to where Wart was standing. Gregory and Zak were also dressed up. You all more or less dressed the same, just with some small differences.

Actually, you were the only one wearing a cloak. Zak had an orange vest and had his suspenders hanging, Gregory wore light green overalls, and Wart wasn't wearing a vest. He also had on a weird red hat of some kind.

Y/N: Tradition?

Greg: It's the autumn festival. Everyone dresses like this.

Zak: Wait, everyone? Does that mean....

Y/N/Mitch/Zak: The girls.

Wart: Well, they wear dresses, but in the recent years some wear stuff like this to and....

Y/N: We best not keep the ladies waiting, boys!

Mitch: I agree!

Zak: Onward to the dance!

You all rushed out of the room.

You immediately found yourselves in the middle of the dance which was slowly starting. People were still coming in, but you could tell this would be a fun time.

Bubbles: Looking sharp.

You found the girls all walking towards you. They all wore old styled dresses and had their hair done up as well. Even Brat, who looked less than pleased.

Bubbles wore blue, Robin wore yellow, and Brat wore black.

Y/N: Hello, ladies. Looking good.

Brat rolled her eyes.

Brat: Whatever. I'm gonna go see what they have to eat here.

Brat wondered off on her own. Robin grabbed Mitch and lead him away. Zak also wondered off to flirt with some of the local girls and Bubbles went to make sure Coruage was doing well.

Looks like you have a choice now.

Who will you be spending the festival with?

Bubbles

Brat
