A Dance Recital And Late Night Chats

You looked at yourself in the mirror and wondered if you looked good. You wore a black button up that was tucked into your dark colored jeans. You also wore a pair of black shoes. Your hair was combed back and held with gel.

You looked ready to go to a dance recital.

Liz: Y/N, hurry up. I'll leave you, I swear to God.

You just shook your head and walked out of your room. Liz was also wearing nice clothing for Blossom's recital. She wore a bit more formal outfit.

It was a black dress that reached to her ankles. Her hair was also done up in a bunch and she wore contacts instead of her glasses.

Liz: Are you ready? We need to get going.

You nodded. You looked over to Coruage who was asleep on the couch. The TV was playing some news broadcast so you knew he would be okay.

And so, you and your sister headed out to go to Blossom's Dance Recital.

You couldn't wait.

Power Up!

You weren't expecting to ever be inside the Grand Opera Hall of Townsville, but here you were.

Professor: Elizabeth, Y/N. I'm happy that you two are here.

Liz and the Professor greeted each other with a hug, but the Professor gave you a firm handshake. You then noticed his daughters.

Bubbles wore a baby blue dress that reached her knees. She also had a pair of earrings and a rather nice looking necklace. Her hair was done up in a way you weren't used to seeing.

Buttercup, on the other hand, wore a black dresshirt with a green bow tie. She also wore a pair of black pants and her hair was done the way it usually was. She didn't wear any makeup or any jewelry.

They both looked nice in their own ways.

Y/N: Hey.

Bubbles: Hello, Y/N. You look quite handsome tonight.

You smiled at the compliment.

Y/N: Thanks. You both look gorgeous as well.

Bubbles lifted her fist up to her mouth as she smiled. She really hoped that you couldn't see her blush. She just hasn't had a guy compliment her like that before.

Buttercup, however...

Buttercup: Flattery like that will get you everywhere.

She nudged your side, but you just looked to her father to see what he would say. He wasn't even paying attention.

You just chuckled a bit shyly. Buttercup suddenly locked her arm with yours while Bubbles got your other side. They both then began to pull you along into the building.

The Professor and Liz hung back for a bit to talk about work. You did kind of want them to be with you, but you suppose that spending some time with the girls wouldn't be so bad.

Buttercup: So, what the heck is up with you and Princess? She was all clingy. It was weird.

Isn't that exactly what they were doing with you right now?

Y/N: We're just.....acquaintances.

Bubbles: Really? But she's so awful.

You couldn't argue with that. But you also couldn't tell them that she was blackmailing you.

That would only cause more problems.

More problems that you didn't want to deal with.

You checked in and immediately headed in to find your seats. Once you were actually seated, you realized just how packed the whole place was.

Y/N: This dance recital is a pretty big thing, huh?

Buttercup: Yeah. I think it's something about this being one of the best dance groups in America?

Bubbles: It's a world renowned ballet trope. Blossom takes it very seriously.

You bet she did. She had been pretty nervous about it since she told you about it.

You were honestly happy for her. Though, you had no idea what to expect. You've never been to one of these things before.

However, you suddenly heard something. You weren't sure at first, until you looked up. You couldn't see anything, until you used your thermal vision.

Up in the rafters, out of sight from everyone, you saw someone.

Someone with a gun.

Y/N: Uh, say, is anyone really important going to show up here?

Bubbles: The Mayor was supposed to, but he's busy with the reelections.

But that would mean.....maybe you should check it out.

You got up which confused the girls.

Y/N: Uh, I need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back.

You hurried off before anyone could say anything. On your way to the lobby, you ended up coming across the Professor and Liz.

You pulled your sister to the side and quickly whispered to her.

Y/N: I need you to cover for me. Something is up and I need to investigate.

Liz looked at you oddly.

Liz: Y/N...

Y/N: I think someone might die.

Liz stared at you with wide eyes. She then nodded.

Liz: Go ahead. Wear a mask.

You nodded and quickly hurried off. This place was a Grand Opera Hall. Surely you could find something. Maybe there was some spare costumes in the back?

You snuck yourself around to the employee hallway where you quickly made it to the backrooms.

A quick costume change later, and you swore that you now looked like Dracula. Black cape with the collar popped up that covered your body, a mask that covered the top half of your face, and even some unopened contacts that changed your eye color.

Y/N: I feel like I should name myself Spawn.........nah. That would be copyright. Whatever.

You quickly made your way to the rafters to investigate the possible threat.

Meanwhile, Liz and the Professor took their seats. Buttercup looked at your empty seat then to Liz.

Buttercup: Hey, where's Y/N?

Liz: Oh, uh, he had to....run home to grab something for me.

Bubbles: But he'll miss the show.

Liz winced.

Liz: I'm sure that he'll make it back in time.

She then turned back to the stage and covered her mouth.

Liz: I hope.

You climbed onto the catwalk over the audience and quickly, yet quietly, made your way over to where you saw the person.

Sure enough, there was someone there. They were holding a rifle.

Y/N: Is it an assassin? But for who? No, that doesn't matter. They're a threat. I need to stop them.

You narrowed your eyes at the assassin before you jumped onto the railing. You then ran as fast as you could towards the attacker.

They lifted their head when they heard you, but they were too late. They turned only to get a foot right in the face. Or, where their face should be.

They were wearing a mask.

You landed on the catwalk while the attacker fell over.

Then, the curtains opened.

The audience began to cheer loudly, which covered the sound of your fight overhead.

You delivered a right hook, but the attacker quickly blocked it. They then punched your chest, but it did nothing. You just smirked and returned the favor.

Blossom and the other dancers took the stage. As they did, Buttercup looked around for you.

You sweep the attacker's legs, but they were up almost immediately. They then charged at you and slammed you against the railing. It ended up breaking which made you fall backwards.

You quickly grabbed onto the catwalk and kicked the rail right into wall to avoid it from landing on anyone.

You flew up and landed right back onto the catwalk. You then swung at them again. They blocked your hit, but you didn't let up.

Blossom looked to where she had expected to find you sitting, but she realized that you weren't there. She looked over to her sisters, but they were just as confused.

You locked the attacker's arm around yours, and slammed your elbow into it. The attacker cried out, but they quickly tried to punch your throat.

You just shook your head and lifted the attacker up.

Y/N: Tough luck, buddy. You messed with the wrong dance recital.

The attacker didn't say anything. They just kicked your chin, which actually hurt.

You stumbled backwards and landed on the catwalk. The attacker then ran over to their gun. They grabbed it and took aim, on Blossom.

Their finger brushed across the trigger, but you were quicker.

You tackled the attacker right off the catwalk, sending the two of you to fall towards the stage.

The crowd gasped when the two of you crashed down in the center. You groaned just as the rifle landed next to you. You quickly grabbed it and stood up.

You then broke it by snapping it against your knee.

That actually kind of hurt.

You then spotted the attacker trying to get up. Wasting no time, you charged right towards them.

You then swung a fist right into their face.

They flew across the stage and landed, probably unconscious, while everyone watched.

You then stood up straight and held a fist our towards the attacker.

Y/N: Game over.

You then realized that some of Townsville's most elite were now watching you. As well as the Powerpuff Girls.

Buttercup: Stranger?

Bubbles: Who the heck is that guy?

Blossom: Was that a gun?

You awkwardly stood there for a moment and relaxed so that the cape once again covered your body. You then looked around.

Y/N: Uh, hi.

Woman: He's getting up!

You and Blossom both looked towards the attacker who was now back up to their feet.

You moved to attack, but the attacker dropped something to the ground. A smoke bomb.

The area was suddenly surrounded in smoke which made you stop dead in your tracks. You quickly tried to find them with your vision, but they were gone.

Like, completely gone.

You watched as the smoke cleared, revealing what you already knew, before you looked back to Blossom.

Right now, you were just happy that she was alright.

But, you needed to get the heck out of here. Like, right now.

Blossom: Who was that...

Y/N: Assassin. Bye.

You quickly ran off the stage and out of the emergency exit. Once you were outside, you used your super speed to quickly change back to your normal clothes.

You then ran back up to the front. There, you quickly hurried back into the lobby.

And right when you walked in, everyone came rushing out of the auditorium. You were nearly trampled by everyone running out.

You ended up pushing some of them out of your way out of annoyance. Finally, you spotted Liz.

Y/N: Liz! What in the world happened here?!

Liz looked at you unamused, but the others didn't even think that something was up.

Bubbles: Someone tried to attack the recital. Thank goodness that you were gone.

Buttercup: Yeah, where were you?

You looked over to Liz. You had no idea what she told them. So, you just took a random guess.

Y/N: Uh, I had to go....get something for Liz?

Liz gave you two thumbs up which made you smile. Look at that.

Professor: The police are on their way. We were lucky that that new hero was here to stop that gunman. He slipped right under our noses.

Yeah. Thank goodness that you were here.

But who the heck hired a hitman? Or, rather, who wanted Blossom dead?
---------------
You rubbed your head with a groan.

You were back home, now on your new bed, recounting this afternoon's events.

None of it made any sense. Who would want to attack......actually, no. You could think of a few people who would want to hurt the Powerpuffs.

But this was just bold. Whoever wanted to hurt them, wanted to send a message.

You were actually a bit worried.

You sat against the headrest of your new bed frame while you petted Coruage. You looked out at the city of Townsville with narrowed eyes.

It seems like a lot more is happening here than you had originally thought.

Suddenly, your phone began to ring.

You looked at it and saw that Blossom was calling.

You quickly answered.

Y/N: Hey.

Blossom: Y/N?

She sounded....off.

Y/N: Yeah. What's up?

You sat up which made Courage lift his head. He looked at you confused while you held the phone to your ear.

Blossom: Nothing. I just....I wanted to talk to someone. If you're not too busy, that is.

Y/N: No, I'm free. What's on your mind?

Blossom: Well, the Professor said that the bullets in that gunman rifle were coated in Chemical Y. If I had gotten shot by it, I wouldn't have been able to heal.

Your eyes grew wide at the news. If she had gotten hit, she would've died.

Y/N: Really? That's....are you okay?

Blossom: Just a bit surpised. A little shaken. I'll be okay.

Y/N: Are you sure? I mean...

Blossom: I actually rather talk about something else, if that's okay.

You were a bit worried, but you didn't want to keep pushing it if she asked you not to. Plus, you knew how she was probably feeling about all of this.

Y/N: Alright. Well, how is school going?

Blossom: School? It's good. But, I was actually wondering if we could talk about....you?

Y/N: Me? Why me?

Blossom: Well, I don't know much about you. You know, besides a few things.

You sat back against the bedrest and looked at Courage.

Y/N: Alright. What do you want to know?

Across town, Blossom sat in her own bed. However, she did not have a dog to pet. She had a pillow to hug.

She wore her pajamas and hair hair was down. Her ribbon laid on her nightstand.

Blossom: Well, what about your eye? Has it always looked like that?

You smiled a bit.

Y/N: No. I got it from an accident when I was 5.

Blossom: Really?

Y/N: Yeah.

Blossom: Well, I think they look nice.

Y/N: Thank you. I like them.

Blossom: I do to.

You smiled a bit wider.

Blossom: Hey, can I ask you a question?

Y/N: Sure.

Blossom: Why do you always put so much gel in your hair?

You chuckled a bit.

Y/N: Honestly, I don't even know anymore. I kinda did it to blend in a bit more, but I'm starting to think it's a stupid idea.

Blossom: I mean, if you like it...

Y/N: I don't.

Blossom: O-okay.

You both laughed.

You really didn't like the hair gel.

Blossom: Then why don't you just, I don't know, don't do it? You looked pretty handsome when you left it undone that one night.

You smirked.

Y/N: Oh? I'm handsome, huh?

Blossom's eyes grew wide while her cheeks got a bit hotter. But she refused to let you know that she was getting a bit flustered.

Blossom: Well, I suppose you could say that.

Y/N: Well, thank you. I'm flattered. And you're quite a beautiful person yourself.

Blossom: O-Oh. Thank you.

You both laughed a bit as if you had just told a joke.

In truth, you had no idea what you were doing. You have never flirted with a girl before.

This was all new to you. You ended up laying down to stare at the roof.

Y/N: I mean, it's just the truth. You're pretty great.

Blossom: I mean...you're pretty great yourself. I'm sure that you won't have any problems finding a date for Homecoming.

She bit her bottom lip with anticipation. She was waiting to see what you would say.

Y/N: I guess we'll have to see. Bubbles is supposed to get me looking all pretty, so we'll see how that goes.

Blossom: Yeah. And if you can't find anyone, then, you know, I usually go stag.

Did she just suggest that you and her....

Y/N: Right. I'll....keep that in mind.
-------------
You weren't really tired, so you found yourself laid on your bed with the sleeping Coruage.

You couldn't believe it, but you ended up talking to Blossom until midnight. She ended up getting tired so you both said your farewells and your goodnights.

It was now around 2 or so. You were wide awake.

Maybe it was the adrenaline still running through your body. No. That ran out hours ago.

You just couldn't sleep.

Courage suddenly lifted his head and stared at the window. Confused, you also looked at the window, just as a figure showed up.

It was....Buttercup?

You sat up and looked at her as she waved. She then signaled for you to open the window.

You did just that.

Buttercup flew into your room and landed. It took you a moment, but you did notice that she was wearing what could be considered as sleep wear.

Y/N: What's up, Buttercup? I wasn't expecting.....

You both stared at each other as you realized what you had said.

Y/N: Let's try that again. Hey, Buttercup. Is something the matter? I wasn't expecting a late night visit.

Buttercup just looked around your room.

Buttercup: Neither was I. But I'm also super bored and everyone else is asleep.

You raised a brow.

Y/N: Did you....go to everyone's house to confirm that or...

Buttercup: I assumed. My sisters are asleep, so I figured I'd check in with you. And what do you know?

You just crossed your arms.

Y/N: You know, you could've just called or something.

Buttercup: And where's the fun in that? Besides, I thought boys would get super excited if a girl showed up in their room in the middle of the night.

You figured that would normally be the case. You just sat down on your bed while Coruage laid back down.

Y/N: Well, here you are. What did you need?

Buttercup: Honestly, I have no idea. Do you have any games here? What about comics?

You thought about it, but you just shrugged.

Y/N: I don't have any of that stuff.

Buttercup: Seriously? I thought you would be a massive ner....

She looked to you, but stopped mid-sentence when she saw you.

Your hair was a bit messier than usual due to you fiddling with it. You also looked a lot more relaxed than usual.

Y/N: What was that?

Buttercup: I....um.....I'm sorry. You're kind of hot right now.

Your eyes got wide with blushing cheeks. She really was just....completely honest.

Y/N: W-What?

Buttercup didn't say anything. She just walked over to you and began to brush your hair. You tried to smack her hands away, but she just smiled wider as she continued to assault your hair.

Buttercup: You seriously need to stop with that gel, dude. You look a lot better without it.

Y/N: Stop messing with my hair, you creep!

Buttercup just laughed. You finally grabbed her wrists and turned the tables, but you ended up pushing a bit too hard.

You both fell to the floor with a hard thump. Of course, it didn't hurt either of you.

But now, you were hovering over her. You held her wrists above her head while you both stared at each other.

You found your eyes wondering across her body. Her tank top was riding up a bit, revealing her stomach, while you realized just how short her shorts were.

Y/N: Uh, sorry. I didn't.....

Liz: KEEP IT DOWN!

You quickly got off of Buttercup and hurried to your door. You immediately locked it to avoid her walking in.

Buttercup: Calm down, dude. It wasn't like we were doing anything.

Y/N: That's not the point.

You looked back to Buttercup who was now sitting on your bed. You sighed before you went over and joined her.

Y/N: Look, I appreciate you wanting to hang out and everything, but you don't think that this is all a bit...weird.

Buttercup: What's weird? We're just two friends hanging out.

She then laid down and stared up at the roof.

Buttercup: Well?

Y/N: "Well" what?

Buttercup: You gonna come lay down?

You looked at her like she was crazy. But, you did end up rolling your eyes. You walked over to the bed and laid down as well.

You made sure there was enough space between you both so that things didn't get weird.

You folded your hands on your stomach while Buttercup just placed hers behind her head.

Buttercup: So, you gonna give up the gel?

Y/N: Why is everyone giving me crap about my hair gel?

Buttercup: Because it's stupid. I say you should leave it like this.

She moved her hand and began to ruffle your hair again. You smacked her hand away, but she only turned to her side to keep playing with your hair.

You just turned to your side and crossed your arms with an unamused look. She just kept ruffling your hair, uncaring that you were now glaring at her.

However, you both quickly realized that you were now mere inches away from each other's faces. Buttercup slowly stopped and pulled her hands away.

You both soon found your cheeks getting a bit hotter, so you both laid back on your backs.

Buttercup: You have soft hair. But, uh, maybe I should....stop playing with it.

Y/N: Yeah. How about we just talk?

Buttercup: That's fine. Let's do that.

Y/N: Okay.

Courage just rolled his eyes and went back to sleep.
