Cassie watched as her walked towards her. "You shouldn't be in here." He told her. Cassie gave a laugh. "And just what is this place?" She asked her father. Her dad shook his head and gave a sigh. "It's called FIREWALL." He said to Cassie. Knowing she wouldn't just leave, he gave her a tour of FIREWALL.
The base was filled with weapons, labs, training areas of different varieties. As they were walking, Cassie noticed that in some of the hallways was the same group of pictures and stopped at one of them. Above the 30 images was a sign labeled "The Fallen and Remembered" and had names under it, such as Thuy Trang, Erik Frank, Pua Magasiva, Robert Axelrod, along with many others. "Who are these people?" Cassie asked her father, who walked over to the pictures. "You could say they were warriors in a way." Her father informed her. "The former director could have told you more about them." He added as he continued walking. Cassie stayed behind for a moment as she continued to look at the images and then followed him into a lab.
In the lab, scientists were building and testing weapons. Cassie looked around, surprised. "You have this entire place under the high school," She asked her father. "How have you even kept it hidden?" Her father looked at her. "It doesn't matter," He said. "Something is coming and I need my cadets ready." He explained. Cassie smiled at her dad. "So, when do I start?" She asked. Her father looked at her sternly. "Absolutely not." He said to her. "I will not be putting my daughter in this type of position." He said. "Not to mention that you don't have the proper training." He added.
"Then teach me." Cassie insisted. "I can help." Her father shook his head. "No, you cannot." He said to her. "You're a normal teenager, and that's how you're going to stay." He told her. Cassie gave a pout. "You can't keep me out of this." She said to him. "You said something was coming." She said, reminding her father. "And my cadets will handle it." Her father repeated. "Besides, you need to get back to class instead of sneaking out of it." He told her. Cassie stepped back. "I just want to help." She said to her dad. "I'm never gonna forgive myself if something happens to you." Her father added. "I'm sorry Cassie," He said. "I can't lose you like I lost your mother." Cassie nodded and started walking away to leave when she noticed something, a metal box.
Inside the box, five silver bracelets with an individual color added to each, were in place. Cassie looked to make sure no one was looking, took the bracelet with a pink color on it, and left. She walked back to the classroom and sat through the rest of the lesson, to busy thinking about what she saw to focus. She also knew that Trevor would be doing football practice after school today, maybe that would get her mind off things.
The day dragged on and Cassie finally got to the football field in time to see Trevor practice. She and Trevor waved at each other and then she went and sat on the bleachers. "You here for the practice or the guys?" A voice asked behind her. Cassie looked to see another girl nearby. "Lyla." She said extending out her hand. "Cassie." She replied, shaking Lyla's hand. "One of my friends is actually on the team," She explained. "So I guess you could say I'm here for him." She added with a chuckle. Lyla chuckled with Cassie about it. "Are you new here?" Cassie asked. "I don't think we've met before." She said. Lyla gave a nod. "Yeah. I transferred here this summer." She said. "I just got here last week." She said as the team began to practice.
As practice went on, Trevor was a bit off. His motions were slower and he just seemed out of it. "Does he always play like this?" Lyla asked. Cassie shook her head. "He's one of the best players in the school," She explained to her. "He has been acting weird lately though." She continued as she heard the coach call timeout and call Trevor over. "I need to check on him." Cassie said as she got up and made her way over to him.
Cassie walked up to Trevor and grabbed him by the shoulder. "Are you sick, man?" She asked. Trevor shook his head. "I'm fine." He said. "Then why are you spazzing out and acting so off?" She asked, a bit concerned with Trevor's condition. "I'm not, okay," He said, slightly aggravated. "Sorry, just tired." He explained. "When was the last time you slept?" Cassie asked, worriedly. "I just have stuff going on right now, okay?" Trevor said. Cassie stopped, noticing the cuts on Trevor's face. "Trevor what happened?" She asked. Trevor was about to answer but was interrupted by the coach. "Carlson, get over here!" The coach said to Trevor.
Trevor sighed and walked back to the team. Cassie watched him and then walked away, not sure if she should have pressed further. After practice, the team made their way back to the locker rooms. "Trevor, hang on a second." The coach said. "You really should take the time off I talked to you about." He said. "You can barely do your practice runs." He explained. "Take some time and clear your head." He added. Trevor shook his head and started to say something but the coach stopped him. "I'm not asking, Trevor." He said. "You told me what happened and I feel you," He said. "But I need you to be at full strength for this next game." He added. Trevor sighed. "Yes, sir." He replied leaving with the rest of the team.
A while later, Cassie went to Trevor's house to do some studying, only Trevor could barely stay awake and nearly dozed off a few times already. Trevor was studying on his bed while Cassie sat in a chair nearby. Cassie noticed as Trevor kept trying to stay awake. "I think I'm just gonna go." She said. Trevor looked at her with a tired look. "No, it's fine," He said. "Let's just get this done." He added. Cassie sighed. "Trevor, you can barely stay awake," She said to him. "We can do this another time." She added. Trevor started feeling bad, knowing Cassie wasn't going to change her mind. "See you tomorrow." He said. Cassie nodded and started to walk out.
As she left she noticed a picture frame, face down on a nearby dresser. Cassie lifted up the frame to see a picture of Trevor and his parents from when he joined his first team. Trevor always said his dad was away on business a lot. Come to think of it, he hadn't talked about him for a while. "Is your dad still out of town?" She asked, still looking at the photo. At first Cassie didn't hear anything. "Trevor?" She asked before she started hearing a light snoring. Cassie looked to see that Trevor had fallen asleep on his bed. She put the picture back and carefully moved the books they were studying to avoid waking him up. "See you later." She whispered before leaving Trevor's house.
Meanwhile in another part of the city, Rosa had entered the home of her latest family. "Hey, how was your day?" Her foster mother said with a warm smile. "Fine," Rosa replied looking at the box of stuff beside her. "What's this?" She asked. Her foster mother looked at the box and then at Rosa. "I went and got some stuff for you," She replied. "I wasn't sure what you liked but I want to make you feel comfortable here." She said. "So, I got you some old clothes and other things." Her foster mother explained. "It's all in here," She added, motioning the box. Rosa looked in the box and saw mostly clothes with a few other things mixed in.
"Thank you, Carly." Rosa said with nothing more than a slight smile. She didn't want to admit it but this was the one person who actually did this for her. "You're welcome." Carly said. "So umm, how was your first day," She asked. "Any friends so far?" She asked. Rosa shook her head. "Some big shots' tried to hit on me though." She said. Carly looked at her. "Something tells me you didn't let them keep going." She said with a chuckle. Rosa smiled and shook her head. "Normally I'd say not to choose violence," Carly said. "But boys like that don't take no for an answer." She added. The two of them laughed and went silent for a moment.
"Hey, Carly?" Rosa asked. "Why did you still pick me?" She asked. "You read my file from the system and everything I've done," She explained. "But you still chose me." She said in confusion. "That's the thing," Carly said. "I can't begin to know what you've gone through outside of what was written." She explained. "I chose you because you're a survivor." She added. "After everything you've been through, you're still here." She said. "I think I make it my job to help people like you be stronger." She added. Rosa nodded. "Thank you." She said before hugging Carly. "For everything." Rosa said in a whisper. "You deserve it." Carly replied, hugging Rosa back.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo had gotten home to his family. "Are you kidding me!" He heard his mother shout. "I get a call from your principal about you pranking again!" She added. Lorenzo laughed. "Ma, relax." He said to her. "Just having a little fun, that's all." He added. His mother shook her head. "Your father and I send you to school for an education," She said. "Not to act like a hooligan." She added. Lorenzo shook his head. "No one's getting hurt." He said. "I just like to play around a bit, that's all." He said. "Whatever, just don't let me hear about it again." She said. "You need to be more responsible." She added. "Got it, Ma." He replied. "Good." She said. "Now wash up, it's time for dinner." She added. Lorenzo nodded. "I'll be right in." He said.
The next day, Cassie was sitting at the football field again. She knew Trevor wouldn't be at practice but didn't have anything better to do. She looked around and noticed Rosa nearby. The two had never talked since Rosa first moved here. She got up and started walking towards Rosa.
"Hey, Rosa." Cassie said to Rosa. "Hey, what're you doing here?" Rosa asked. Cassie shrugged. "Nothing better to do," She said. "What about you?" She asked. Rosa didn't answer and looked at the team practicing. "Isn't your boyfriend supposed to be here?" She asked Cassie. "You mean Trevor?" Cassie said with a laugh. "We're not dating." She said. "The two of us are just friends." She added. Rosa nodded and looked back at the field. Cassie just chuckled and walked back to the bench.
As the practice continued, a strange glitch-like portal appeared and armored creatures came out and started attacking. Rosa and Cassie immediately stood up, alerted. "What are those things?" Rosa asked. "No idea," Cassie said as everyone started running away. "Let's go." She said motioning to follow the others. As the two of them ran, one of the creatures used an energy blast, knocking the both of them to the ground. As the two of them tried to get up, Cassie noticed the bracelet she took start to glow pink. The creature then walked towards her and reached out to grab her before she kicked it in the side. A burst of energy shot through her and she was able to fight. The other creatures started approaching her as she noticed two words on the bracelet appear. "Undercover Initiate." She read aloud before touching the bracelet. Next thing Cassie knew, the bracelet generated an armored suit, turning her into the pink ranger.
Rosa looked at her in shock. "What just happened?" She asked. Cassie shook her head. "I have no idea," She replied. "But I don't think we have time to find out." She said as the creatures launched towards her. "Get out of here," She said to Rosa. "I'll hold them off." She added. Rosa nodded and ran to safety. Cassie looked at the creatures and got ready to fight. "You guys picked the wrong city to mess with." She said before starting to fight.
