Ollie agrees to help Javi with a story, but his desire for new tech distracts him from his promise--and the villains are happy to exploit his obsession.

*My POV* 

We were at BuzzBlast waiting for Ollie. I was comforting Javi. When we saw Ollie walk in. "Dude, where have you been?" Javi asked him. "You were supposed to pick up samples for Javi's story, but you never showed, so J-Borg came up with a plan B." I said as I gestured to J-Borg. Ollie took the headphone off his ear.

"Something is starting to happen. Let's watch a little longer." J-Borg said. "Oh, we're literally watching paint dry." Jane said as she walked away from the camera. "Oh shoot! Sorry, man. I totally forgot I was meant to do that. These babies arrived in store today, so I had to pick them up." Ollie said before walking off, causing Javi and I to follow him.

"Seriously, dude? So instead of helping me, you were buying new headphones?" Javi asked. "Hey, these are noise-cancelling, solar rechargeable, and they would have sold out." Ollie said as we walked over to the others. "What was wrong with your old ones?" Javi asked. "What?" Ollie asked. 

"He said 'What was wrong with your old ones?'." Izzy said as she spoke loudly for him to hear. "Well, my old ones were...what do you call it? Old." Ollie said. "Oh!" Izzy said playfully. "I'm all about the new tech. I know you get the importance of quality audio...For your music, right?" Ollie asked and Javi shrugged.

"This sounds like last week's new phone with a better-quality screen." Amelia said as Izzy and I laughed. "And what about your new phone watch?" Zayto asked. "Smartwatch, thank you very much. Check it out." Ollie said as he pushed something. "Well, I think we may have created the most boring BuzzBlast segment ever. Javi, I really need you to complete the stories you promise." Jane said.

"I'm so sorry, Jane. Ollie was supposed to drop off the samples two hours ago." Javi said. "Is this for the new vegetable hybrid you mentioned. Half pickle, half onion?" Jane asked. "Yeah, punions!" Javi said. Jane sighed. "Well...Despite the fact that it would chance the face of hamburgers as we know it, cancel it. I've got something even more important for you to cover." Jane said as she gestured Javi to come over.

"There's been a strange storm lingering over Pine Ridge Bay all week. The weather people can't determine what's causing it. I want a feature for this afternoon's livestream. Maybe a nice interview with an expert." Jane said as she began walking off. "For real? I'm covering weather?" Javi asked confused. "Um, hell-ur? Super-awesome weird weather. Get on it!" Jane said before walking off. 

"Like she said, this isn't normal weather. It's caused by some freaky energy surge. It's not even her field, but my mom's all over it. The electrical storm's too dangerous for boats and planes, so this morning we prepped her submarine drone to search underwater." Ollie explained. "Pine Ridge Bay? That's where the Nexus Prism dove into the sea." Zayto pointed out.

"The Morphin' Masters sent it to look for something, but we ever found out what." Zayto said. "True. They might be connected." Amelia and I said. "Ollie, do you think I can interview your mom?" Javi asked hopefully. Ollie scoffed. "No way. She's busy gathering data from her sub drone. You could interview me instead. Trust me. I helped Mom build that drone. I'm practically an expert." Ollie said.

"Okay, sold." Javi said smiling. "And if we're lucky, Dr. Akana might find a clue about what the Prism was doing on Earth." Zayto said hopefully. "Maybe. I better check on her progress. I'll be back for the interview." Ollie said before he began walking off. "Okay. I really wanna do a good job on this, so be on time. 2 o'clock!" Javi said. "2 o'clock. I promise." Ollie said before he put his headphones on the right way. 

*3rd POV*

Ollie soon made it to his Mom. "Hey, Mom. Find anything?" Ollie asked. "Well, the sub drone's still scouring the floor of the bay. She's doin' her best, but it'll take a while on my old gal. There is a lot of data to crunch." Dr. Akana said. "Well, if the laptop is slowing us down, why not get a new one? I saw the lates X335 model at the store earlier, and it was one sale." Ollie said.

"I know you love shiny new tech, but even on sale, laptops aren't cheap. This one will do just fine, thanks. It'll do the job. Just be...patient." Dr. Akana said. "Ah, yeah, I love being...patient." Ollie said sarcastically. "Hmm." Dr. Akana said.

"Yeah, being patient is the worst." Mucus said as her and Slyther were watching the two Akana's. "But we have to wait for Dr. Lady to find the energy source causing that storm." Slyther said. "Causing that storm so we can steal it for Void Knight--I know! But I don't know how." Mucus said. "That kid said he wants a new laptop." Slyther said.

"So?" Mucus asked. "So we should get him one...a very special one." Slyter said before people began screaming. People were running. "What's all that?" Dr. Akana asked. "Not sure. Let me check it out." Ollie said. "Be careful." Dr. Akana said as Ollie nods and runs off. Ollie ran across a bridge, and he came across a Sporix that was about to hatch.

"Aw, man!" He said as the Sporix hatched. Ollie turned to his communicator. "A Sporix Beast hatched at the marina." Ollie said. "We're on our way." Zayto's voice came through the communicator. 

"Hey, you don't belong here, fish out of water." Ollie said. "I'm no fish, but I'm full of water! Have a drink of me!" The Sporix Beast said as he began preparing an attack. The Sporix Beast sent the attack at Ollie but dodged it just in time. 

"Link to Morphin' Grid!" Ollie said before he slammed his hand on his communicator and flipped in the air, morphing. He began fighting with the Sporix Beast. Suddenly the Sporix Beast sent him flying.

*My POV*

"Ollie!" Zayto shouted as we arrived. "Gotcha covered." Tommy and Jason said as we rushed down the stairs to him. "Come in. The water's fine." The Sporix Beast said. "Blazing Dino Key, ready!" I said as I put the key into my saber and slammed it a few times. 

The boost appeared on my shoulder. "Blazing Fury Blast!" I said as I was getting ready to send the attack. "Ooh! This move is really hot." Mucus said as her and Slyther appeared. I grunt as I send the blast towards him.

"Splashnado!" The Sporix Beast said as his attack took down my blast. We yell out in confusion. "Oh man. I guess water really does beat fire." I said as we stared at the Sporix Beast and he sent a power attack at us causing us to all yell.

"You losers are all wet behind the ears." The Sporix Beast said before running off. "Wait, Mr. Beast. Let's chat!" Mucus said. "We have a proposal!" Slyther said as him and Mucus chase after the Sporix Beast.

"That thing's running wild, and he's long gone already." Zayto said as we stood up. "We better go check if my mom has a close encounter of the beastly kind." Ollie said, before we demorphed and ran off to see where Ollie's mother was. 

We all approached her as we see the small storm. "Hey, Mom. Did you see anything go by just now?" Ollie asked as we stood back. "Nope, just staring at fish." Dr. Akana said as she was looking at the camera. 

"I don't like this. You can bet that Sporix Beast will be back." Zayto whispered to us, before Dr. Akana turned and saw us. "Oh! Hi, everyone. Welcome. Sorry, this isn't more exciting. I haven't found anything yet. But the storm's as strong as ever." Dr. Akana said before we saw the storm produce lightning and thunder.

"Tommy, any idea?" I heard Jason ask my husband in a whisper. He shook his head. "The sub drone's still on track, but it'll take a while for my laptop to proceed all that info." Dr. Akana said. "Computer's a dinosaur." Ollie said.

"Speaking of time-- Ollie and I gotta do that interview." Javi said to us. "You two go. We'll head back to base in case that beast reappears." Zayto said quietly to us, before him, Izzy, Amelia, Jason, Tommy and I walked off to teleport to base.

*3rd POV*

"I'll check back later. Call me if--" Ollie said but was cut off by his mother. "If there's any updates, yes, yes." Dr. Akana said as Javi just stood there. "Thanks, Mom." Ollie said before he started walking off with Javi. Dr. Akana sighed.

"Up next-- Ollie Akana's here to explain what's behind that crazy storm." Jane said. "We got this." Ollie said to Javi. "Mm-hm." Javi said as they both were smiling. "But first-- a surprise giveaway! Introducing our generous guest, who has a brainteaser for us." Jane said as somebody came on screen.

"Why thank you, Ms. Jane. Hello, teens. I'm Mr. Wiz, with a special bubblegum challenge. If you can guess the exact number of bubblegum balls in this jar, you will win...a brand-spanking new X335 Laptop." Mr. Wiz said revealing a laptop. 

"Look!" Ollie said excited. "The speediest tech money can buy." Mr. Wiz said. "What?! That's the exact one I want." Ollie said in a whisper as Javi didn't look convinced. Javi looked at him in disbelief. 

"The first person to correctly guess the number of gumballs wins!" Mr. Wiz said. "Text in your guesses, folks, and we'll pop 'em on screen." Jane said as she noticed the first guesses. She gasped happily.

"The first guesses are already in! 293?" Jane asked. "Ah, nope." Mr. Wiz said. "What about 9008?" Jane asked. "Mm-mm." Mr. Wiz said. "That's way too high. I could calculate that number. It's just logic and math." Ollie whispered to Javi.

"You're about to go on. Get in position." J-Borg told them. "Okay. Time to concentrate, Ollie. No counting gumballs until after the interview, okay?" Javi asked his friend. "What kind of guest do you think I am?" Ollie asked, sounding like he was lying.

"And now-- about that storm. Take it away, Javi!" Jane said as she pushed the cart that contained the computer and jar of gumballs, Mr. Wiz following her as Javi and Ollie came on camera. 

Javi and Ollie sat down on the chairs. "Hey, guys, I'm here with our expert guest, Ollie Akana. So, I hear you and your colleague/mom, Dr. Akana, have been monitoring the storm with an underwater drone. Is that right?" Javi asked.

"Uh, yeah. A drone. We only use the best technology." Ollie said, and Javi noticed where he was staring. "Right. So... what makes this storm different from the others?" Javi asked, hoping Ollie would be smart.

"PI R squared multiplied by...Does anyone have a pen that works?" Ollie whispered the first part then asked the second part out loud. Jane mouthed to Javi 'still rolling'. Javi nods. "Ollie." Javi said to get his attention.

"Ah, yes, yes. Every storm is unique." Ollie said before looking back at the jar of gumballs. "This storm covers a small area of the bay, while the rest of Pine Ridge is sunny. Why's that?" Javi asked, trying to get this interview going. 

Ollie kept looking up and down from the jar of gumballs, but Javi realized he wasn't paying attention. "Ollie!" Javi said. "2046!" Ollie suddenly said. "Wait. What?" Javi asked confused. "Correct! The exact number of balls in the jar is 2046." Mr. Wiz said.

Javi looked at Jane confused, but she just gestured for him to smile. Javi smiled so he doesn't get in trouble. "Congratulations. You're our winner!" Mr. Wiz said. "I know. It was fairly simple calculation. Also, I love gumballs." Ollie said.

"Hold on a sec." Javi tried to say. "This brand-new laptop is all yours." Mr. Wiz said, handing Ollie the laptop. "Ollie, we're not done." Javi tried to cut in. "Thank you so much!" Ollie said happily. "Absolutely my pleasure." Mr. Wiz said.

Ollie nods happily. "And cut." Jane said and chuckled. "Love your work. Now, what did you have planned for these gumballs?" Jane asked walking over. "I'm on to the next job, so, uh, consider them a gift." Mr. Wiz said.

Jane smiled happily. "Ooh! That gives me an idea. J-Borg! I need you!" Jane said walking off to find J-Borg. Ollie stood up with his new laptop. "I can't believe you just screwed up my story." Javi said to Ollie.

"Sorry. But, hey, Jane's happy." Ollie said smiling. "Well, maybe she is, but I'm not." Javi said to him, causing Ollie to face him with a frown. "Think of it this way--a new laptop means much quicker answers about the storm, which will help with your story. Come on. Let's get it to Mom." Ollie said, not really understanding that he's upset Javi. Javi follows after him anyway. Mr. Wiz watched them leave and cackles evilly. 

| Time skip |

Ollie and Javi arrived to where Dr. Akana was, and Ollie was setting up the laptop. "Transferring all control to the new computer." Ollie said as his mom watched him do this. "All right. It's working. Nice! Looks like the sub drones almost completed its search pattern, so it'll only take a couple of seconds to get a full data analysis." Ollie explained as Javi came over.

"Wow. Just a couple of seconds?" Dr. Akana asked her son. "That's what I've been trying to tell you, Mom. This thing's new, and it's a powerhouse." Ollie explained. "How'd you say you won it, again?" Dr. Akana asked.

"Gumballs. It was a whole thing." Javi explained. Dr. Akana looked at Ollie confused, but before she could ask anything the computer beeps. "The calculations are complete." Ollie said. "It's triangulated an object near the eye of the storm." Dr. Akana said as the three of them look at the screen.

"What do you think it is?" Javi asked. "We're clamped on to it now, so we can find out. The sub drone can bring it to the surface." Dr. Akana said as the screen showed the sub drone dragging the object. 

"Uh, did you do that?" Ollie asked confused. "I didn't touch anything." Dr. Akana said. "Then why is it moving?" Ollie asked quickly. "It's like someone else is controlling the laptop and driving the sub drone." Dr. Akana said.

"What?!" Ollie asked confused. "This computer's been hacked." Dr. Akana said as she disconnected the computers from each other. Javi and Ollie walked away a few steps. "Who would hack it?" Ollie asked Javi confused. 

Javi looked at him. "Void Knight wouldn't care about the storm, right?" Ollie asked. "I don't know, but that laptop was very convenient." Javi said, before Ollie raised his communicator before looking back at his Mom. "Hey, guys. We're in some hot water." Ollie said into the communicator. 

*My POV*

"Your new laptop's been hacked?!" Izzy asked as we were at base talking to Ollie and Javi. "Yes. Dr. Akana's trying to shut down the sub drone." Javi explained. "Oh, that's good." Solon said. "Solon, can you scan for any foreign frequencies in our location?" Ollie asked.

"Gimme a sec." Solon said as she began working. "Okay, I've detected a shortwave signal about a mile from where you are." Solon said. "So glad you're not extinct." Zayto said. "Same!" Solon said with a small chuckle.

"Ollie, Javi, we'll meet you there." Zayto said as we got ready to teleport to wherever the signal is. "Roger that." Ollie nodded to us. 

*3rd POV*

"Hey, is it my turn yet? Can it be my turn? Okay, my turn!" Mucus said as she tried to get ahold of what Slyther was holding. "Keep your fungal fingers to yourself." Slyther said causing Mucus to groan. 

"I'm trying to steer the sub drone ashore." Slyther said before Javi and Ollie came running over. "So, you hacked my new laptop." Ollie said angrily. "Hacked? Ha, ha! Have you not put it all together?" Slyther asked.

*My POV*

We ran to Ollie and Javi's sides. "Your head must be full of gumballs." Slyther said, causing Ollie and Javi to look at each other. "You're... Mr. Wiz?" Ollie asked. "Ding, ding, ding! And the prize goes to... Void Knight! Ha, ha! He wins whatever your sub drone drags to shore. Tidemare, show the runners-up what they get." Slyther said before teleporting away.

"You Power losers are in deep water now." Tidemare said. "Really? 'Cause you seem kinda shallow." Amelia said. "It's morphin' time!" Zayto said. Jason and Tommy morphed. We slam our hands on our communicator, letting our morphers appear. 

We grabbed our keys. "Dino Fury Key!" We said flipping our keys open. "Activate!" We said before slamming our keys into our morphers. "Link to Morphin' Grid!" We said before we spun our morphers, beginning to morph.

"Dino Fury Power!" We all said as we flip into action. We began fighting Tidemare, but he soon got ready to attack Zayto. "Shield Dino Key, ready." I said as I put the boost key into my saber and let it appear on my shoulder.

"Splashnado!" Tidemare said. "Shield Block." I said as I got in front of Zayto and let the blast hit me, causing me to grunt from the impact. "Elasto lash!" Ollie said as he got in front of me and Zayto and sent the attack at Tidemare.

"Splash shield!" Tidemare said as he used his water to shield him. Amelia and Izzy joined in trying to hit him. "He's blocking everything!" I said before Tidemare roars as water surrounded him, causing him to disappear.

"And now he's disappeared." Amelia said as we looked around panicked. "Careful, team. He could attack again from any angle." Zayto said. "You mean like this. Sonic Splash!" Tidemare said as he appeared behind me, sending the attack at all of us. We groan and fell to the ground. 

*3rd POV*

"I just can't gain control. Nothing works!" Dr. Akana said. "I love a day at the beach!" Mucus said as Dr. Akana looked up. "Yes, bug bites and sunburn are fantastic!" Slyther said. Dr. Akana hid behind her cart to watch them.

"Aw, come on! Don't you wanna build a sandcastle with me?" Mucus asked. "No. I'm bringing the sub drone to the surface. Sandcastles are for later. Right now, the anticipation is building!" Slyther said as they could see what the sub drone was bringing.

"Ooh! Something glowy! I'll get it! Whee!" Mucus said as she ran towards the ocean. Dr. Akana watched as this happened, and stared at the object the sub drone was bringing in. "Whoa..." Dr. Akana said. 

"Come to Mucus!" Mucus said as she used the chain to pull in the object. "Careful now. Void Knight will pulp us like oranges if we damage it, whatever it--" Slyther said but he was cut off by his own yells as the object zings.

Both Slyther and Mucus yell out and soon enough, something or rather someone was getting out of the glowy object. "Gadzooks! It can't be!" Slyther said. "Let's go build a sandcastle at home!" Mucus said as her and Slyther teleport away. "Incredible!" Dr. Akana said as she watched.

*My POV*

All of us were still fighting Tidemare. Javi and I tried to get him, but he blocked it and threw us. "Ha, ha! No sweat." Tidemare said as Javi, and I got up slowly as the others came running over to us. 

"Let me try to break his flow." Javi said before slamming his saber down. "Ah! Hyper Strike!" Javi said before sending the attack his way. "Splash Shield!" Tidemare said before sending the attack at us causing us to grunt and fall to the ground.

"Izz!" Tommy and Jason said worried as I coughed slightly. "Welcome to the deep end, Rangers!" Tidemare said before running towards us. Suddenly he got blasted. "Huh?" We asked confused.

Before we heard a yell and we saw a Gold Ranger flying in. We all were confused. "A Gold Ranger?" Amelia and I asked. "Could it be?" Zayto asked. "Where did he come from?" Ollie asked. 

"Uh... I don't know." Zayto said just as confused as we were. "You're about to get dragged under!" Tidemare said. "You'll find the deep doesn't scare me." The Gold Ranger said. "Then wade in." Tidemare said.

"Mosa Blast!" The Gold Ranger said sending blasts at him. "Argh! Hengemen!" Tidemare said before Hengemen appeared. They all charged at the Gold Ranger. "Interesting." The Gold Ranger said before he began fighting the Hengemen.

We just watched as he fought them skillfully. "Whoa." I said softly before he basically made his tiny blade a saw. "Mosa Slash!" The Gold Ranger said before striking down a Hengemen. We gasped.

"Who is this guy?" Tommy asked as we kept watching. "Electro Key, ready!" The Gold Ranger said before he put the key into his blaster. "Who wants some?" The Gold Ranger asked before the boost appeared on his shoulder.

"Electro battle armor!" The Gold Ranger said. The Hengemen used their shields to protect them. "Electro Fury blast!" The Gold Ranger said sending the attack at them, causing them to fall, and Tidemare to run up behind them.

"You can't break my Splash Shield!" Tidemare said. "Really?" The Gold Ranger asked before sending the attack at Tidemare, causing it to go through the shield "Argh!" Tidemare said before he began blubbering and he fell to the ground.

"Whoa!" Jason and I said. "Well, that was a shock to the system." Tidemare said. "Ha, pitiful." The Gold Ranger said before Tidemare began to prepare another attack. The Gold Ranger attached the tiny blade to the blaster.

"Gold Fury Blade Blaster, ready!" The Gold Ranger said holding up his blaster. "The tide's turning to me!" Tidemare said getting ready to fire his attack. "Big words from someone who conducts electricity." The Gold Ranger said.

We watched as the attacks were big. Tidemare sent his attack first. "Electro Fury Blade Blast!" The Gold Ranger said before firing his attack at Tidemare. Tidemare yells, before exploding into a lot of water.

"He just obliterated him." Javi said as we stood up slowly. We demorphed. "Wow, you totally saved our skin." Amelia said as we went towards him. "Who are you?" Ollie asked with a smile. "Hey, Zayto." The Gold Ranger said to him, and we turned to Zayto confused. 

Zayto looked like he was about to cry. "You know him?" Amelia and Izzy asked. The Gold Ranger teleported away. We looked at each other confused. Ollie, Amelia, Izzy and Javi had smiles. Tommy and I went over to Zayto with Jason following. 

"Who was that, Zayto?" I asked softly. "I think it's, uh..." Zayto said but we heard wet gurgling. "The Sporix!" Izzy said before running over to it. Zayto picked up before she did. "I should get this back to base." Zayto said before teleporting away.

"What was that all about?" Tommy asked confused. "Dunno. But it looks like there's a new Ranger in down." Izzy said before we heard phone keys beep. "Mom. What? Slow down." Ollie said as he called his mother. 

| Time skip |

"It was mind-blowing! Turns out monsters hijacked the sub drone and dragged that pod to shore. Guess who was inside. Anyone? Anyone?" Dr. Akana asked us. "No, you tell us." Ollie said as we were listening to her story.

"A Power Ranger! A gold one with lightning powers!" Dr. Akana said, and that's when we knew where the Gold Ranger from earlier came. "Wow! Whoo!" Javi, Amelia, Ollie and Izzy said as Tommy, Jason and I just smiled and shook our heads.

"Wow. That's great." Jason said. "It's true. Rangers are connected to the Morphin' Grid, right? Maybe... all his powerful energy built up in the pod, ionizing the air above, causing the thunderstorm. Sounds crazy, but it does explain a lot." Dr. Akana said.

We smiled. "You'd be surprised by some of the crazy things we've seen, Doc." Amelia said. "Well, I cannot wait to analyze the data I found. Better back this up." Dr. Akana said before sighing and chuckling and walking away.

Ollie walked towards the cart. He shut the laptop he got. "That was so close." Izzy said. "You, okay?" Javi asked Ollie as Ollie took his headphones off his neck. "I was so obsessed with the latest, greatest tech that Slyther totally played me. And worse, I let you down. I need to focus more on the things that really matter, like my friends." Ollie said.

"Aw." Izzy said as he faced Amelia, Izzy, Tommy, Jason and I as we smiled and chuckled. "I really appreciate you saying that." Javi said as he put his hand on Ollie's shoulder. "Do you want these?" Ollie asked holding the headphones out to Javi.

Javi looked at him surprised. "For your music?" Ollie asked. "Wow! Are you sure?" Javi asked just to make sure. "They're yours. My old ones work just fine." Ollie said and Javi took them. "This is adorable." I whispered to Amelia and Izzy who nod.

"Do you still need a story for BuzzBlast?" Ollie asked as he looked towards his mother. "'Cause I think I know a wild eyewitness account that everyone's gonna wanna hear." Ollie said as we all smiled.

*3rd POV*

"Welcome back, BuzzBlasters. This livestream is gonna blow... bubbles, that is! As these three contestants try to break the record for blowing the world's biggest bubble." Jane said as three people were chewing gumballs.

"Good form, excellent jaw work. But he's blown it." Jane said to the first contestant before moving onto the second one. "That training's coming in handy. But it fails to excite the crowd." Jane said to the second contestant before going to the third one.

"Wow-ee. This is more like it!" Jane said before the bubble popped. "Ooh!" Jane said as gumballs go flying. "No!" J-Borg yells before running towards the gumballs. She caught them in her mouth.

Jane chuckles. "Great catch, JB! Aw, it's like you're storing nuts for winter. Seriously, spit that gum out. It's not for androids! Spit!" Jane said, but instead of spitting it, J-Borg began to blow a bubble. 

*My POV*

"Bubblin' bonanza, it's beautiful! You're sure to break the record! Uh, that's maybe a bit too..." Jane said as we walked in to see J-Borg blowing a giant bubble. Before it popped, covering J-Borg and Jane. "Um, is now a bad time to pitch a story?" Javi asked chuckling.
